  • Text overflowing floated div

    - by James Hatton
    I have a problem with a fluid layout I am attempting to create. I was wondering why I am not able to get overflow:hidden to work on the left menu text on this site. As you can see here, I have labelled in blue, the text which I would like contained within the left menu div, although it overflows and pushes the rest of the site down with it. Please see here for a JS Bin: http://jsbin.com/OcoJEpe/2/edit?html,css,output Thanks for your help. James.

  • Windows 7 Status Menu style Window

    - by Mason Blier
    Hey all, I'm working on a project and I'm wondering how to get a type of window common in Windows's wireless controls, as shown in the screen shot below: http://cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/windows-7-wireless.jpg There's no close or maximize buttons, but the border is still present. My tools include Expression Blend 3 and Visual Studio 08. I was also wondering what the font used on these are, as it doesn't seem to be the normal Tahoma found in Office 7. Thanks, Mason

  • html horizontal scrolling

    - by mp
    Hi, i have a simple css example, and i can't understand the behavior of one of my divs, when the horizontal scroll is displayed. so...when my browser window needs to display the horizontal scroll(when the window width is less than my div "content" width(1024px)), my div "footer" (that have the same "content's" parent and 100% width), seems to get an "extra blank space" on the right side. this space grows when I reduce the width of the window. any ideas about how can i get it off, or why it happens??thanks! heres my code: css: <style type="text/css"> html, body { height: 100%; width:100%; font-family:"Arial Black", Gadget, sans-serif; font-size:11px; font-variant:normal; } * { margin: 0; } .wrapper { min-height: 100%; height: auto !important; height: 100%; margin: 0 auto -4em; } #content{ width:1024px; margin:0px auto; background-color:#990; height:780px; } .footer, .push { height: 4em; width:100%; } #footer-content{ height:10px; background-color:#09F; width:100%; } </style> html: <body> <div class="wrapper"> <div id="content"> <p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nullam scelerisque varius tortor vitae pretium. Quisque magna ipsum, accumsan sit amet pretium sed, iaculis feugiat nibh. Donec vitae dui eros, eu ultricies nulla. Morbi aliquet, nisi in tincidunt rutrum, nisl justo sagittis nisi, nec dignissim orci elit vitae tortor. </p> </div> <div class="push"></div> </div> <div class="footer" style="background-color:#900; width:100%;"> <div id="footer-content"></div> </div> </body>

  • How do I add a textbox to my other jQuery click function?

    - by marcamillion
    Right now, my script adds a box to the cursor when I click on an image, as can be seen in the following code. Please note, this is jQuery. $(function() { var tag_box = $("<div>").appendTo("body").css({"width":"40px", "height":"40px", "border":"4px solid #000000", "position":"absolute", "display":"none", "padding":"15px"}); $("#image-wrapper").live('click', function(e){ tag_box.css({"left": e.pageX - 40, "top": e.pageY - 40, "display":"block"}); }); I would like to add a text field to appear right below that tag_box on that same click. I tried to do this, but it hasn't worked out like I thought it would: var comment_box = $("<label> Comment: <input type='text' name='comment' autocomplete='off'></label>"); $("#image-wrapper").live('click', function(){ $("body").append(comment_box); }); Any assistance you can give me, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Having trouble on mouse over tabs

    - by user225269
    I downloaded a webpage template from the internet because I don't know how to design webpage on photoshop. This was the one I downloaded: http://www.freewebtemplates.com/download/templates/9839 And modified it. And I have this code for mouse over tabs from dynamic drive. But doesn't seem to be working with the template that I downloaded. Here is my current code: <script src="mouseovertabs.js" type="text/javascript"> </script> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Designed by Web Page Templates</title> <meta name="keywords" content="" /> <meta name="description" content="" /> <link href="default.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <table border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="bg1"> <tr> <td class="text1" style="height: 50px;">xd627 information management system</td> </tr> <tr> <div id="mytabsmenu" class="tabsmenuclass"> <td class="bg5"><table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="height: 62px; padding-top: 15px;"> <tr align="center"> <td><ul><li><a href="index.html" class="link1">Homepage</a></li></td> <td><li><a href="RegStuds.php" class="link1">Database</a></li></td> <td><li><a href="#" class="link1">About</a></li> </ul></td> <a href="submenucontents.htm" style="visibility:hidden">Sub Menu contents</a> <div id="mysubmenuarea" class="tabsmenucontentclass"> <!--1st link within submenu container should point to the external submenu contents file--> <a href="submenucontents.htm" style="visibility:hidden">Sub Menu contents</a> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> //mouseovertabsmenu.init("tabs_container_id", "submenu_container_id", "bool_hidecontentsmouseout") mouseovertabsmenu.init("mytabsmenu", "mysubmenuarea", true) </script> </div> What might be wrong here,its working perfectly with my previous one, but with no layout at all: <script src="mouseovertabs.js" type="text/javascript"> /*********************************************** * Mouseover Tabs Menu- (c) Dynamic Drive DHTML code library (www.dynamicdrive.com) * This notice MUST stay intact for legal use * Visit Dynamic Drive at http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ for this script and 100s more ***********************************************/ </script> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <div id="mytabsmenu" class="tabsmenuclass"> <ul> <li><a href="" rel="gotsubmenu[selected]">Database Manipulation</a></li> <li><a href="" rel="gotsubmenu" >Register User</a></li> <li><a href="loginform2.php" rel="gotsubmenu" >Logout</a></li> <li><a href=""></a></li> </ul> </div> <div id="mysubmenuarea" class="tabsmenucontentclass"> <!--1st link within submenu container should point to the external submenu contents file--> <a href="submenucontents.htm" style="visibility:hidden">Sub Menu contents</a> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> //mouseovertabsmenu.init("tabs_container_id", "submenu_container_id", "bool_hidecontentsmouseout") mouseovertabsmenu.init("mytabsmenu", "mysubmenuarea", true) </script> </body> </html>

  • Combine static files or load in parallel

    - by Niall Collins
    I am at present introducing code to my site to combine css and javascript files. Is there a way without having to include an external library to load javascript asynchronously or in parallel? I have read on some blogs that combining of files can be counter productive as the load of the http request can be large and its better to load multiple files in parallel. Opinions on this? I am caching my javascript/css. And would have thought it was better to combine rather than have multiple http requests.

  • What is the best approach towards styling GWT applications?

    - by Ashwin
    General approach in GWT is to use Panels and then apply custom CSS themes to get a customized look. While I can achieve a certain extent of personalization of my GWT app through CSS tinkering, I was wondering how others generally approach styling. Some of the suggestions I came across the web were to manage layout with plain HTML, through use of HTMLPanel's. This way one can straightaway use the HTML mock-up within the application without having to code all the layout. So what in your opinion is the best and least painful way to approach layout and custom styling of GWT application?

  • where to get a wordpress theme review

    - by Ayrton
    Hi I'm currently developing some Wordpress templates and I wanted to get a review by a (semi)professional. I already know quite a bit about Wordpress,CSS, & JS but I was always a lone wolf without any guidance that's why I was wondering where I could find someone (trustworthy) to do something like this and how much he should charge me. It's pure about the code (the PHP, JS & the CSS) I would like to have a review on about (nothing design related). A link to the Wordpress theme I'm talking about: http://demo.wpmonk.com/flowhub Yours truthfully ps: I know you can't give a review on the php on the clientside (however I could mail the source)

  • Easy way to apply Joomla template styling to my own content

    - by Joey Adams
    I have an application that is mainly a bunch of PHP files included in a Joomla! application by Jumi. I want to make the site look nicer, but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel. There is a RocketTheme template installed on the site, and I'd like to be able to leverage it or some of the other CSS used alongside it. Specifically, I want to decorate tables. Should I search for and include CSS classes directly into my tags by searching through the template's classes, or is there a framework I could use that automatically adds the right classes based on the current theme?

  • SIFR Newbie: font display problem in non-flash browsers

    - by bullquartz
    Hi, I'm wondering if someone can help me with this as I'm fairly new to siFR and think there is something essential i'm not comprehending in the documentation. I'm having success using siFR 3 (r436) to render fonts and it's working just how I want. However if I turn flash off in any browser the original (no longer rendered) html text displays very badly indeed. I thought that in any non-flash browser my inital stylesheet would be referred to and not siFR.css and I would be able to adjust the html text as a seperate entity. I think i probably developed this bad idea because I remember in earlier siFR versions you had to mess around alot with stylings on the original stylesheet + the sifr-config so you would get corresponding line heights/widths etc between the html and rendered font. (i realise that siFR 3 renders the flash in a different way) So it seems that siFR.css controls both the non-flash text and the rendered font. Anyway my essential noob questions is: how do i get the the original html text to have the same dimensions as the rendered font? thanks for you help

  • Formatting Controls in ASP.NET

    - by Brian
    I feel as though this this is a simple question, but can't find an answer anywhere. We've got an interface we're trying to move to an ASP.NET control. It currently looks like: <link rel=""stylesheet"" type=""text/css"" href=""/Layout/CaptchaLayout.css"" /> <script type=""text/javascript"" src=""../../Scripts/vcaptcha_control.js""></script> <div id="captcha_background"> <div id="captcha_loading_area"> <img id="captcha" src="#" alt="" /> </div> <div id="vcaptcha_entry_container"> <input id="captcha_answer" type="text"/> <input id="captcha_challenge" type="hidden"/> <input id="captcha_publickey" type="hidden"/> <input id="captcha_host" type="hidden"/> </div> <div id="captcha_logo_container"></div> </div> However all the examples I see of ASP.NET controls that allow for basical functionality - i.e. public class MyControl : Panel { public MyControl() { } protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e) { ScriptManager.RegisterScript( ... Google script, CSS, etc. ... ); TextBox txt = new TextBox(); txt.ID = "text1"; this.Controls.Add(txt); CustomValidator vld = new CustomValidator(); vld.ControlToValidate = "text1"; vld.ID = "validator1"; this.Controls.Add(vld); } } Don't allow for the detailed layout that we need. Any suggestions on how I can combine layout and functionality and still have a single ASP control we can drop in to pages? The ultimate goal is for users of the control to just drop in: <captcha:CaptchaControl ID="CaptchaControl1" runat="server" Server="http://localhost:51947/" /> and see the working control. Sorry for the basic nature of this one, any help is greatly appreciated.
