• How to debug a native Java crash on Linux?

  I've seen this question and this article on how to debug a native Java crash. The article is with respect to Windows. What are the equivalent debugging aids on Linux? Note: All I have is this crash log from a user in the field. I do not have access to the machine on which the crash occurred. Update: I am pretty sure the crash is due to JNI code we have. I never meant to imply that it was the JVM itself that was faulty. • Synchronization requirements for FileStream.(Begin/End)(Read/Write)

  Is the following pattern of multi-threaded calls acceptable to a .Net FileStream? For example, the FileStream class says: Any public static members of this type are thread safe. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread safe. But the documentation for BeginRead seems to contemplate having multiple read requests in flight: Multiple simultaneous asynchronous requests render the request completion order uncertain. Are multiple reads permitted to be in flight or not? Writes? Is this the appropriate way to secure the location of the Position of the stream between the call to Seek and the call to BeginRead? Or does that lock need to be held all the way to EndRead, hence only one read or write in flight at a time? I understand that the callback will occur on a different thread, and my handling of state, buffer handle that in a way that would permit multiple in flight reads. Further, does anyone know where in the documentation to find the answers to these questions? Or an article written by someone in the know? I've been searching and can't find anything. That is, I would like to use this linguistic filtering to extract candidate noun phrases. I cannot well understand its meaning. • Using section header in Sendgrid

  I am trying to send emails through sendgrid in Zend application. I copy the php code from the sendgrid documentation (smtapi class and swift). I create a template with places that should be substituted with %variable%. • Login loop in Snow Leopard

  I can't get out of a login loop of a particular admin user. After entering the password the login screen is shown again after about a minute. Other users work fine. It started happening after a simple reboot. Can you please help me? Thank you! Tried to no avail: Change the password Remove the password Repair disk (no errors) Boot in safe mode Reinstall Snow Leopard and updating to 10.6.6 Remove content of ~/Library/Caches Removed content of ~/Library/Preferences Replaced /etc/authorization with Install DVD copy The system.log mentions a crash report. • Multithreading/Parallel Processing in PHP

  I have a PHP script that will generate a report using PHPExcel from data queried from a MySQL DB. Currently, it is linear in processing in that it gets the data back from MySQL, reads in the Excel template, writes the data to the template, then outputs it. I have optimized the code to the point that the data is only iterated over once, and there is very little processing done on the PHP side. The query returns hundreds of lines in less than .001 seconds, so it is running fast enough. After some timing I have found my bottlenecks to be (surprise, surprise) reading the template and writing the output. I would like to do this: Spawn a thread/process to read the template Spawn a thread/process to fetch the data Return back to parent thread - Parent thread will wait until both are complete Proceed on as normal My main questions are is this possible, is it worth it? If yes to both, how would you tackle it? Also, it is PHP 5 on CentOS

  Hi there, I have a draggable list (.field) where you can drag & drop items from it into a sortable list (.sortlist). I did it this way because I didn't want the master list (.field) altered in any way. It works fine, except I cannot work out how to manipulate the dropped field in a sortable list. I can do it from a draggable into a droppable area by using the following in a function for 'drop:' in droppable(): $(this).append('html code here to change content of dragged field'); However this doesn't work inside a sortable(). My code looks like this: $(".sortlist").sortable({ receive: function(event, ui) { var dropElemTxt = $(ui.item).text(); var dropElemId = $(ui.item).attr('id'); $(ui.item).replaceWith('<li class="box" id="'+dropElemId+'">Updated field! '+dropElemTxt+'</li>'); } }); $(ui.item).replaceWith changes the master field that was being dragged, so this doesn't work. Problem is that the a new thread could be invoked while another thread on the delegate is still running and hasnt yet been EndInvoke'd. The program needs to be able to have the delegate run in more than one instance at a time if necessary and they all need to complete and have EndInvoke called. Once I start another BeginInvoke I lose the reference to the first BeginInvoke so I am unable to clean up the new thread with an EndInvoke. What is a clean solution and best practice to overcome this problem?

  I connect to my database with one session. I have always the same session in my hole program. My Thread "1" catches primary data from the database. The user must be allowed to cancel this thread. So if the user presses the cancel button to often or to fast (this is my interpretation) the following error occures: ERROR org.hibernate.AssertionFailure - HHH000099: an assertion failure occured (this may indicate a bug in Hibernate, but is more likely due to unsafe use of the session) org.hibernate.AssertionFailure: possible non-threadsafe access to the session The same errors occures if i cancel my thread "2" which is running in the background after my thread "1" ist finished and the try to load another primary data set from the database. Is the failure that i am using the same session in my two threads? What is the right way to solve such a problem?

  I read through this tutorial Appcelerator: Using JSON to Build a Twitter Client and attempted to create my own simple application to interact with a Jetty server I setup running some Spring code. I basically call a get http request that gives me a bunch of contacts in JSON format. I then populate several rows with my JSON data and try to build a TableView. All of that works, however, my tableView rows take up the whole screen. Each row is one screen. I can scroll up and down and see all my data, but I'm trying to figure out what's wrong in my styling that's making the cells use the whole screen. My CSS is not great, so any help is appreciated. An MDI child form may create the thread with the operation, which may take long time (from 0.1 seconds, to even half hour) to complete. In the meantime I want the UI to respond to user actions, including manipulation of data in some other MDI child form. When the operation completes, the thread should notify the MDI child that the calculations are done, so that the MDI child can perform the post-processing. How can I achieve this: Should I use explicit threading (i.e., create explicit threads), thread pools? Or simply just propose your solution. Should I create foreground or background threads? I ask because I was getting all my threads being hung due to log4j blocking. • Help with pregreplace and uniqid for jquery dialog boxes

  First of all, do not be overwhelmed by the long code, I just put it for reference...I have a function that runs preg_replace on each comment users post and puts matches in a jquery dialog box with a matching open-link. For example, if there is a paragraph with two matches, they will be put inside two divs, and a jquery dialog function will be echoed twice; one for each div. While this works for one match, if there are multiple matches, it does not. I am not sure how to distribute unique ids at a point in time for each of the divs and matching dialog open-scripts. Keep in mind, I removed the preg replace function since it kind of complicates the problem.   I have an aspx page(Default1.aspx),in which i have a static jquery tab and anchor tag upon clicking the anchor tag(Add Tab) I am adding new tab dynamically,which gets its contents loaded from another aspx page(Default2.aspx).This second page contains some text inside a tag,a textarea with 'tinymce' class which is placed inside a div with 'style="display:none" ' and this textarea gets displayed only upon clicking the edit button on that page. But make don't understand: make: *** No rule to make target `abstract-window.c', needed by `gtkbuilder2vala-abstract-window.o'. Stop. This seems to be a limitation of make: http://www.ensta.fr/~diam/dev/online/autoconf/autobook/autobook_180.html if the translation takes three steps--from .m' to.x', then from .x' to.c', and finally to `.o'---then Automake's simplistic approach will break. Have you another idea?
