  • java.io.FileNotFoundException for valid URL

    - by Alexei
Hello. I use library rome.dev.java.net to fetch RSS. Code is URL feedUrl = new URL("http://planet.rubyonrails.ru/xml/rss"); SyndFeedInput input = new SyndFeedInput(); SyndFeed feed = input.build(new XmlReader(feedUrl)); You can check that http://planet.rubyonrails.ru/xml/rss is valid URL and the page is shown in browser. But I get exception from my application java.io.FileNotFoundException: http://planet.rubyonrails.ru/xml/rss at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(HttpURLConnection.java:1311) at com.sun.syndication.io.XmlReader.<init>(XmlReader.java:237) at com.sun.syndication.io.XmlReader.<init>(XmlReader.java:213) at rssdaemonapp.ValidatorThread.run(ValidatorThread.java:32) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.runTask(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:886) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:908) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:619) I don't use any proxy. I get this exception on my PC and on the production server and only for this URL, other URLs are working.

  • ASP.NET Connection time out after being idle for a while

    - by yazz
My ASP.NET website while trying to connect to the database for first time after a period of inactivity throws an time out exception. I understand the connections in the connection pool get terminated after some idle time for some reason (Firewall or Oracle settings) and the pool or app doesn't have a clue about it. Is there any way to validate the connection beforehand so that the first try doesn't throw an exception? I don't have much control over the DB or Firewall settings. So I have to deal with this is my application.(would prefer if there is any web.config settings) I am using: ASP.NET 2.0. Oracle server 11g, Microsoft Enterprise Library DAAB to do all my DB operations. I did some search on this topic but didnt find any solid solution for this yet :(

  • How do you convert a parent-child (adjacency) table to a nested set using PHP and MySQL?

    - by mrbinky3000
I've spent the last few hours trying to find the solution to this question online. I've found plenty of examples on how to convert from nested set to adjacency... but few that go the other way around. The examples I have found either don't work or use MySQL procedures. Unfortunately, I can't use procedures for this project. I need a pure PHP solution. I have a table that uses the adjacency model below: id parent_id category 1 0 ROOT_NODE 2 1 Books 3 1 CD's 4 1 Magazines 5 2 Books/Hardcover 6 2 Books/Large Format 7 4 Magazines/Vintage And I would like to convert it to a Nested Set table below: id left right category 1 1 14 Root Node 2 2 7 Books 3 3 4 Books/Hardcover 4 5 6 Books/Large Format 5 8 9 CD's 6 10 13 Magazines 7 11 12 Magazines/Vintage Here is an image of what I need: I have a function, based on the pseudo code from this forum post (http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=320444) but it doesn't work. I get multiple rows that have the same value for left. This should not happen. <?php /** -- -- Table structure for table `adjacent_table` -- CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `adjacent_table` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `father_id` int(11) DEFAULT NULL, `category` varchar(128) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=8 ; -- -- Dumping data for table `adjacent_table` -- INSERT INTO `adjacent_table` (`id`, `father_id`, `category`) VALUES (1, 0, 'ROOT'), (2, 1, 'Books'), (3, 1, 'CD''s'), (4, 1, 'Magazines'), (5, 2, 'Hard Cover'), (6, 2, 'Large Format'), (7, 4, 'Vintage'); -- -- Table structure for table `nested_table` -- CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `nested_table` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `lft` int(11) DEFAULT NULL, `rgt` int(11) DEFAULT NULL, `category` varchar(128) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ; */ mysql_connect('localhost','USER','PASSWORD') or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('DATABASE') or die(mysql_error()); adjacent_to_nested(0); /** * adjacent_to_nested * * Reads a "adjacent model" table and converts it to a "Nested Set" table. * @param integer $i_id Should be the id of the "root node" in the adjacent table; * @param integer $i_left Should only be used on recursive calls. INSERT INTO nested_table (id, lft, rgt, category) VALUES( NULL, '2', '5', 'Hard Cover' ) INSERT INTO nested_table (id, lft, rgt, category) VALUES( NULL, '2', '7', 'Large Format' ) INSERT INTO nested_table (id, lft, rgt, category) VALUES( NULL, '1', '8', 'Books' ) INSERT INTO nested_table (id, lft, rgt, category) VALUES( NULL, '1', '10', 'CD\'s' ) INSERT INTO nested_table (id, lft, rgt, category) VALUES( NULL, '10', '13', 'Vintage' ) INSERT INTO nested_table (id, lft, rgt, category) VALUES( NULL, '1', '14', 'Magazines' ) INSERT INTO nested_table (id, lft, rgt, category) VALUES( NULL, '0', '15', 'ROOT' ) As you can see, there are multiple rows sharing the lft value of "1" same goes for "2" In a nested-set, the values for left and right must be unique. Here is an example of how to manually number the left and right ID's in a nested set: UPDATE - PROBLEM SOLVED First off, I had mistakenly believed that the source table (the one in adjacent-lists format) needed to be altered to include a source node. This is not the case. Secondly, I found a cached page on BING (of all places) with a class that does the trick. I've altered it for PHP5 and converted the original author's mysql related bits to basic PHP. He was using some DB class. You can convert them to your own database abstraction class later if you want. Obviously, if your "source table" has other columns that you want to move to the nested set table, you will have to adjust the write method in the class below. Hopefully this will save someone else from the same problems in the future. <?php /** -- -- Table structure for table `adjacent_table` -- DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `adjacent_table`; CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `adjacent_table` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `father_id` int(11) DEFAULT NULL, `category` varchar(128) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=8 ; -- -- Dumping data for table `adjacent_table` -- INSERT INTO `adjacent_table` (`id`, `father_id`, `category`) VALUES (1, 0, 'Books'), (2, 0, 'CD''s'), (3, 0, 'Magazines'), (4, 1, 'Hard Cover'), (5, 1, 'Large Format'), (6, 3, 'Vintage'); -- -- Table structure for table `nested_table` -- DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `nested_table`; CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `nested_table` ( `lft` int(11) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0', `rgt` int(11) DEFAULT NULL, `id` int(11) DEFAULT NULL, `category` varchar(128) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`lft`), UNIQUE KEY `id` (`id`), UNIQUE KEY `rgt` (`rgt`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1; */ /** * @class tree_transformer * @author Paul Houle, Matthew Toledo * @created 2008-11-04 * @url http://gen5.info/q/2008/11/04/nested-sets-php-verb-objects-and-noun-objects/ */ class tree_transformer { private $i_count; private $a_link; public function __construct($a_link) { if(!is_array($a_link)) throw new Exception("First parameter should be an array. • Best practice for Python Assert

    - by meade
Is there a performance or code maintenance issue with using assert as part of the standard code instead of using it just for debugging purposes? Is assert x >= 0, 'x is less then zero' and better or worse then if x < 0: raise Exception, 'x is less then zero' Also, is there anyway to set a business rule like if x < 0 raise error that is always checked with out the try, except, finally so, if at anytime throughout the code x is < 0 an error is raised, like if you set assert x < 0 at the start of a function, anywhere within the function where x becomes less then 0 an exception is raised?

  • Why limit WCF ServiceContracts to 10-20 OperationContracts?

    - by Gary B
I've seen recommendations (Juval Lowy, et al) that a service contract should have "no more than 20 members...twelve is probably the practical limit". Why? It seems that if you wish to provide a service as the interface to a relatively large db (50-100 tables) you're going to go way past that in just CRUD alone. I've worked with plenty of other services that provided hundreds of 'OperationContracts'...is there something peculiar about WCF? Is there something I'm missing here?

  • UnknownHostException for server java

    - by nilesh
I am not able to connect to an remote known server through Java code; the exception while connecting is java.net.NoRouteToHostException: No route to host. But strangely, I am able to connect to same server through ssh. Details: Simple Java client when tries to establish connection with Java standalone server, while conneting the exception occurs at following statement: Socket socket = new Socket(ServerIP ServerPort); The port needed is open on server so that externally request can come in. Again the following is returns false InetAddress.getByName(SERVER_IP).isReachable(1000) The Server is running on Fedora, Java 5. FYI: Java cannot resolve DNS address from AIX: UnknownHostException is almost same to my question, but somehow this is not AIX related; moreover I feel the issue to be more of Network or firewall issue. Please guide me.

  • closing MQ connection

    - by OakvilleWork
Good afternoon, I wrote a project to Get Park Queue Info from the IBM MQ, it has producing an error when attempting to close the connection though. It is written in java. Under application in Event Viewer on the MQ machine it displays two errors. They are: “Channel program ended abnormally. Channel program ‘system.def.surconn’ ended abnormally. Look at previous error messages for channel program ‘system.def.surconn’ in the error files to determine the cause of the failure. The other message states: “Error on receive from host rnanaj (10.10.12.34) An error occurred receiving data from rnanaj (10.10.12.34) over tcp/ip. This may be due to a communications failure. The return code from tcp/ip recv() call was 10054 (X’2746’). Record these values.” This must be something how I try to connect or close the connection, below I have my code to connect and close, any ideas?? • Can't Instantiate Windsor Custom Component Activator

    - by jeffn825
Hi, I'm getting an exception calling Resolve: KernelException: Could not instantiate custom activator Inner Exception: {"Constructor on type 'MyProj.MyAdapter`1[[MyProj.MyBusinessObject, MyAsm, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null]]' not found."} There's definitely a public parameterless constructor there (and I've verified this using reflection at runtime)...so I figure the problem might have to do with the fact that it's generic? I've tried getting the component model object and setting RequiresGenericArguments to true, but that hasn't gotten me anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

  • Is there anything wrong with my Factory class?

    - by Alex
class PieceFactory { @SuppressWarnings("rawtypes") public Piece createPiece(String pieceType) throws Throwable{ Class pieceClass = Class.forName(pieceType); Piece piece = (Piece) pieceClass.newInstance(); return piece; } } I'm not all used to handling exceptions yet therefore I'm just throwing them, but everywhere I use a method that uses this factory it tells me I have to throw exceptions like throwable. For example, in one of my classes I have a method that instantiates a lot of objects using the method that uses the factory. I can use the method in that class by just throwing the exception, however it won't work if I try to pass a reference to that class to another class and then use the method from there. Then it forces me to try catch the exception. I probably don't need a factory but it seemed interesting and I'd like to try to use patterns. The reason I created the factory was that I have 6 subclasses of Piece and I wan't to use a method to instantiate them by passing the type of subclass I want as an argument to the method.

  • CouchDB Map/Reduce raises execption in reduce function?

my view generates keys in this format ["job_id:1234567890", 1271430291000] where the first key element is a unique key and the second is a timestamp in milliseconds. I run my view with this elapsed_time?startkey=["123"]&endkey=["123",{}]&group=true&group_level=1 and here is my reduce function, the intention is to reduce the output to get the earliest and latest timestamps and return the difference between them and now function(keys, values, rereduce) { var now = new Date().valueOf(); var first = Number.MIN_VALUE; var last = Number.MAX_VALUE; if (rereduce) { first = Math.max(first,values[0].first); last = Math.min(last,values[0].last); } else { first = keys[0][0][1]; last = keys[keys.length-1][0][1]; } return {first:now - first, last:now - last}; } and when processing a query it constantly raises the following execption: function raised exception (new TypeError("keys has no properties", "", 1)) I am making sure not to reference keys inside my rereduce block. Why does this function constantly raise this exception?

    `hi I am doing a simple synchronous socket programming,in which i employed twothreads one for accepting the client and put the socket object into a collection,other thread will loop through the collection and send message to each client through the socket object. the problem is 1.i connect to clients to the server and start send messages 2.now i want to connect a new client,while doing this i cant update the collection and add a new client to my hashtable.it raises an exception "collection modified .Enumeration operation may not execute" how to add a NEW value without having problems in a hashtable. private void Listen() { try { //lblStatus.Text = "Server Started Listening"; while (true) { Socket ReceiveSock = ServerSock.Accept(); //keys.Clear(); ConnectedClients = new ListViewItem(); ConnectedClients.Text = ReceiveSock.RemoteEndPoint.ToString(); ConnectedClients.SubItems.Add("Connected"); ConnectedList.Items.Add(ConnectedClients); ClientTable.Add(ReceiveSock.RemoteEndPoint.ToString(), ReceiveSock); //foreach (System.Collections.DictionaryEntry de in ClientTable) //{ // keys.Add(de.Key.ToString()); //} //ClientTab.Add( //keys.Add( } //lblStatus.Text = "Client Connected Successfully."; } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message); } } private void btn_receive_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Thread receiveThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(Receive)); receiveThread.IsBackground = true; receiveThread.Start(); } private void Receive() { while (true) { //lblMsg.Text = ""; byte[] Byt = new byte[2048]; //ReceiveSock.Receive(Byt); lblMsg.Text = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(Byt); } } private void btn_Send_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { Thread SendThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(SendMsg)); SendThread.IsBackground = true; SendThread.Start(); } private void btnlist_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { //Thread ListThread = new Thread(new ThreadStart(Configure)); //ListThread.IsBackground = true; //ListThread.Start(); } private void SendMsg() { while (true) { try { foreach (object SockObj in ClientTable.Keys) { byte[] Tosend = new byte[2048]; Socket s = (Socket)ClientTable[SockObj]; Tosend = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("FirstValue&" + GenerateRandom.Next(6, 10).ToString()); s.Send(Tosend); //ReceiveSock.Send(Tosend); Thread.Sleep(300); } } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message); } } }

  • PHP Nested classes work... sort of?

    - by SeanJA
So, if you try to do a nested class like this: //nestedtest.php class nestedTest{ function test(){ class E extends Exception{} throw new E; } } You will get an error Fatal error: Class declarations may not be nested in [...] but if you have a class in a separate file like so: //nestedtest2.php class nestedTest2{ function test(){ include('e.php'); throw new E; } } //e.php class E Extends Exception{} So, why does the second hacky way of doing it work, but the non-hacky way of doing it does not work?

  • How does one programmatically create a topic w/ hornet q ?

    - by mP
I have been looking at the org.hornetq.core.server package which seems to have the most interesting low level APIS relating to managing the server. The server session has a few methods labelled something Queue but none include Topic ... ServerSession void createQueue(SimpleString address, SimpleString name, SimpleString filterString, boolean temporary, boolean durable) throws Exception; void deleteQueue(SimpleString name) throws Exception interface QueueFactory Queue createQueue(long persistenceID, final SimpleString address, SimpleString name, Filter filter, boolean durable, boolean temporary); However i could not figure out how to create a topic. Am i missing something is a JMS topic implemented as a queue ?

  • Issues with LINQ (to Entity) [adding records]

    - by Mario
I am using LINQ to Entity in a project, where I pull a bunch of data (from the database) and organize it into a bunch of objects and save those to the database. I have not had problems writing to the db before using LINQ to Entity, but I have run into a snag with this particular one. Here's the error I get (this is the "InnerException", the exception itself is useless!): New transaction is not allowed because there are other threads running in the session. I have seen that before, when I was trying to save my changes inside a loop. In this case, the loop finishes, and it tries to make that call, only to give me the exception. Here's the current code: try { //finalResult is a list of the keys to match on for the records being pulled foreach (int i in finalResult) { var queryEff = (from eff in dbMRI.MemberEligibility where eff.Member_Key == i && eff.EffDate >= DateTime. Now select eff.EffDate).Min(); if (queryEff != null) { //Add a record to the Process table Process prRecord = new Process(); prRecord.GroupData = qa; prRecord.Member_Key = i; prRecord.ProcessDate = DateTime. Now; prRecord.RecordType = "F"; prRecord.UsernameMarkedBy = "Autocard"; prRecord.GroupsId = qa.GroupsID; prRecord.Quantity = 2; prRecord.EffectiveDate = queryEff; dbMRI.AddObject("Process", prRecord); } } dbMRI.SaveChanges(); //<-- Crashes here foreach (int i in finalResult) { var queryProc = from pro in dbMRI.Process where pro.Member_Key == i && pro.UsernameMarkedBy == "Autocard" select pro; foreach (var qp in queryProc) { Audit aud = new Audit(); aud.Member_Key = i; aud.ProcessId = qp.ProcessId; aud.MarkDate = DateTime. Now; aud.MarkedByUsername = "Autocard"; aud.GroupData = qa; dbMRI.AddObject("Audit", aud); } } dbMRI.SaveChanges(); //<-- AND here (if the first one is commented out) } catch (Exception e) { //Do Something here } Basically, I need it to insert a record, get the identity for that inserted record and insert a record into another table with the identity from the first record. Given some other constraints, it is not possible to create a FK relationship between the two (I've tried, but some other parts of the app won't allow it, AND my DBA team for whatever reason hates FK's, but that's for a different topic :)) Any ideas what might be causing this? Thank!

  • help me "dry" out this .net XML serialization code

    - by Sarah Vessels
I have a base collection class and a child collection class, each of which are serializable. In a test, I discovered that simply having the child class's ReadXml method call base.ReadXml resulted in an InvalidCastException later on. First, here's the class structure: Base Class // Collection of Row objects [Serializable] [XmlRoot("Rows")] public class Rows : IList<Row>, ICollection<Row>, IEnumerable<Row>, IEquatable<Rows>, IXmlSerializable { public Collection<Row> Collection { get; protected set; } public void ReadXml(XmlReader reader) { reader.ReadToFollowing(XmlNodeName); do { using (XmlReader rowReader = reader.ReadSubtree()) { var row = new Row(); row.ReadXml(rowReader); Collection.Add(row); } } while (reader.ReadToNextSibling(XmlNodeName)); } } Derived Class // Acts as a collection of SpecificRow objects, which inherit from Row. Uses the same // Collection<Row> that Rows defines which is fine since SpecificRow : Row. [Serializable] [XmlRoot("MySpecificRowList")] public class SpecificRows : Rows, IXmlSerializable { public new void ReadXml(XmlReader reader) { // Trying to just do base.ReadXml(reader) causes a cast exception later reader.ReadToFollowing(XmlNodeName); do { using (XmlReader rowReader = reader.ReadSubtree()) { var row = new SpecificRow(); row.ReadXml(rowReader); Collection.Add(row); } } while (reader.ReadToNextSibling(XmlNodeName)); } public new Row this[int index] { // The cast in this getter is what causes InvalidCastException if I try // to call base.ReadXml from this class's ReadXml get { return (Row)Collection[index]; } set { Collection[index] = value; } } } And here's the code that causes a runtime InvalidCastException if I do not use the version of ReadXml shown in SpecificRows above (i.e., I get the exception if I just call base.ReadXml from within SpecificRows.ReadXml): TextReader reader = new StringReader(serializedResultStr); SpecificRows deserializedResults = (SpecificRows)xs.Deserialize(reader); SpecificRow = deserializedResults[0]; // this throws InvalidCastException So, the code above all compiles and runs exception-free, but it bugs me that Rows.ReadXml and SpecificRows.ReadXml are essentially the same code. The value of XmlNodeName and the new Row()/new SpecificRow() are the differences. How would you suggest I extract out all the common functionality of both versions of ReadXml? Would it be silly to create some generic class just for one method? Sorry for the lengthy code samples, I just wanted to provide the reason I can't simply call base.ReadXml from within SpecificRows.

  • SWT Composite consructor throws IllegalArgumentException on a non-null argument

    - by Alexey Romanov
This piece of code (in Scala) val contents = { assert(mainWindow.detailsPane != null) new Composite(mainWindow.detailsPane, SWT.NONE) } throws an exception: Exception occurred java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Argument not valid at org.eclipse.swt.SWT.error(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.SWT.error(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.SWT.error(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Widget.error(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Widget.checkParent(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Widget.<init>(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Control.<init>(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Scrollable.<init>(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Composite.<init>(Unknown Source) at main.scala.NodeViewPresenter$NodeViewImpl.<init>(NodeViewPresenter.scala:41) According to the documentation, IllegalArgumentException should only be thrown when the parent is null, but I am checking for that. detailsPane is a CTabFolder. Can anybody say why this could happen?

  • show definition (browse) in *.pdb of *.dll file

    - by ala
I have built a Library project (DLL) in .NET. And sometimes I use the DLL along with its PDB file as a reference in some other projects. Now in the new project, I cant browse through the code of the DLL to debug. I can only see the definitions of class/methods/variables. That's by using "show definition" by browsing through the "class view" However, only in case of an exception I the contents of the DLL opens and I could see the entire code of the DLL from the new project. How could I see the contents (code) of the DLL before an exception occur?

  • Opening a Silverlight project causes APPCRASH is Visual Studio 2008

    - by Ed Woodcock
Hi guys I've got to add a Silverlight project to a solution for a deployment procedure (it's a pre-build dependency for the main project). I've installed Silverlight tools v3, silverlight itself and the silverlight sdk 3, and am using Visual Studio 2008 with ReSharper and the DevArt oracle database tools. Every time I go to open the relevant silverlight .csproj file VS crashes with the following error message: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: devenv.exe Application Version: 9.0.30729.1 Application Timestamp: 488f2b50 Fault Module Name: StackHash_20af Fault Module Version: 6.0.6001.18000 Fault Module Timestamp: 4791a7a6 Exception Code: c0000374 Exception Offset: 000b015d This also happens if I try to create a new silverlight project from scratch. Does anyone have any suggestions?
