    Dear all, I would like to store and load numpy arrays from binary files. For that purposes, I created two small functions. Each binary file should contain the dimensionality of the given matrix. def saveArrayToFile(data, fileName): with open(fileName, 'w') as file: a = array.array('f') nSamples, ndim = data.shape a.extend([nSamples, ndim]) # write number of elements and dimensions a.fromstring(data.tostring()) a.tofile(file) def readArrayFromFile(fileName): _featDesc = np.fromfile(fileName, 'f') _ndesc = int(_featDesc[0]) _ndim = int(_featDesc[1]) _featDesc = _featDesc[2:] _featDesc = _featDesc.reshape([_ndesc, _ndim]) return _featDesc, _ndesc, _ndim An example on how to use the functions is: myarr=np.array([[7, 4],[3, 9],[1, 3]]) saveArrayToFile(myarr,'myfile.txt') _featDesc, _ndesc, _ndim = readArrayFromFile('myfile.txt') However, an error message of 'ValueError: total size of new array must be unchanged' is shown. My arrays can be of size MxN and MxM. Any suggestions are more than welcomed. I think the problem might be in the saveArrayToFile function. Best wishes, Javier

    I am wrapping a number of functions from a vender API in C#. Each of the wrapping functions will fit the pattern: public IEnumerator<IValues> GetAggregateValues(string pointID, DateTime startDate, DateTime endDate, TimeSpan period) { // Validate Data // Break up Requesting Time-Span // Make Requests // Read Results (through another method call } 5 of the 6 requests are aggregate data pulls and have the same signature, so it makes sense to put them in one method and pass the aggregate type to avoid duplication of code. The 6th method however follows the exact same pattern with the same result-set, but is not an aggregate, so no time period is passed to the function (changing the signature). Is there an elegant way to handle this kind of situation without coding a one-off function to handle the non-aggregate request?

    Hi I am doing Silverlight 4 In my database, I have a store procedure(having two parameters) which returns rows (with extra fields). So i have to make a complex type for those rows on my Models. And Making a service to call that function import store procedure. The RIA will automatically create a matching Entity(to the complex type) and an operation for me. However, I don't know how to validation the parameters of the operation on both client and server side. For example, the parameter must be an integer only (and greater than 10) or datetime only. below is my xaml code. I am using DomainDataSource control and don't know how to validate the two field parameter.It has two TextBox to let the user types in the value of parameters.     I'm not even sure about how to title this qn. But, hope there is an easy way to do it in dynamic language like groovy. say I have a class Service, where I delegate the business logic. the methods in it are funA(), funB()... funX(). Now I have a controller class, where I call the service closure, which can be invoked like service.funA() . Now based on a variable (which can have values A, B ... X), I need to cal the correct service closure. Basically to avoid writing lot of if conditional statements. Something like service."fun+var"() would do. I'm not sure whether it is possible to substitute variable in closure (function)name. or any way by passing function (name) as a parameter...not sure I think PHP has a similar feature http://php.net/manual/en/functions.variable-functions.php thanks for any pointer..

    Hello all, When I mix JSTL 1.0 and JSTL 1.1 taglib declarations, it causes a ParseException on some of my servers, but not all of them. The three servers are extremely similar in setup and configuration. The JSP page is being served up by OpenCMS, and I'm using the Caucho's Resin webserver. I understand that you don't know how my servers or CMS are set up, but really, what I'm looking for is ideas. Any ideas at all would help -- this problem has been driving me absolutely batty.     I'm about to design my Web service API, most of the functions of my API is basically very simular to my web application. Now the question is, should I create 1 single method and reuse them for both the web application and the web service api? (This seems to be the logical solution, however its very complicated; it's much easier to duplicate the method used by the web application, and keep both separate, ie one method for the web application and one method for the web service.)   • How do you build a Request-Response service using Asyncore in Python?

    I have a 3rd-party protocol module (SNMP) that is built on top of asyncore. The asyncore interface is used to process response messages. What is the proper technique to design a client that generate the request-side of the protocol, while the asyncore main loop is running. I can think of two options right now: Use the loop,timeout parameters of asyncore.loop() to allow my client program time to send the appropriate request. Create a client asyncore dispatcher that will be executed in the same asyncore processing loop as the receiver. What is the best option? I'm working on the 2nd solution, cause the protocol API does not give me direct access to the asyncore parameters. Please correct me if I've misunderstood the proper technique for utilizing asyncore.

  • Is an object in objective-c EVER created without going through alloc?

    Hi, I know that there are functions in the objective-c runtime that allow you to create objects directly, such as class_createInstance. What I would like to know is if anything actually uses these functions other than the root classes' (NSObject) alloc method. I think things like KVC bindings might, but those aren't present on the iPhone OS (to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong), so is there anything that would do this? In case you're wondering/it matters, I'm looking to allocate the size of an instance in a way that circumvents the objc runtime by declaring no ivars on a class, but overriding the +alloc method and calling class_createInstance(self, numberofbytesofmyivars). The web service gets document meta data from SharePoint, it running on a server where I cant debug but with logging I confirmed that the method enters and exits successfully.     I have some code which is generating a rather long command that is being sent to System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(). The call fails with a Win32Exception, message "The filename or extension is too long". The path to the program itself is not very long, but the parameters passed in are quite long. I am calling the version where an instance of ProcessStartInfo is passed as the parameter, and in this case its the ProcessStartInfo.Arguments .Field that is very long. (other parameters: CreateNoWindow = true, UseShellExecute = false, RedirectStandardError = true). It looks like the exception is coming from a call to win32 function CreateProcess. Does anyone have an idea of another way to start the process?

In all of the slides and presentations that I've seen, they use the global hierarchy. But it is possible to keyword relationships in custom hierarchies. Some questions, therefore: Are there any guidelines on when this is useful or necessary? Are there any functions for manipulating hierarchies?   • Is it feasible to write a Firefox plugin to make use of ActiveX control on Windows?

    I use an ActiveX control called TAPIEx enabling TAPI phone system integration using MS Access 2000 (+Visual Basic). I want to turn this Access database into a web app with the clients running Firefox (all on internal network). Since Firefox doesnt support ActiveX is it feasible for me to write a Firefox plugin that in turn utilizes the ActiveX control? With regard to how plugins work - Would I be able to call 'functions' of the plugin from page script (eg dial call specifying phone number, check if calls in process)? Would adding these functions to the Firefox right click menu 'globally' inside Firefox be easier? Hope you guys can help. Note I'm not a fulltime programmer; I just need to know how steep the learning curve will be or even if my idea is possible!     In Java, most of the primitive types are signed (one bit is used to represent the +/-), and therefore when I am exceed the limits of this type, I can get many strange things, like negative numbers. In the BigInteger class, I have no limits and there are some helpful functions there but it is pretty depressing to convert your beautiful code to work with the BigInteger class, specially when primitive operators don't work there and you must use functions from this class. I was wondering if you had this problem, and if you have any better solution than the BigInteger class? Thank you.

Then it's just a matter of separately iterating over 'checkable' and text fields to reflect the user's search parameters; jQuery proved to be exceptionally effective in simplifying the workload. One observable difference lies in performance. The second method appeared to be somewhat slower and didn't work in IE8. Evidently, the returned JSON'ed struct was seen as an empty object. I'm sure it can be fixed, though before spending any more time with it, I'm curious to hear how others would approach the task. I'd gladly appreciate any suggestions. --Stan

  • Subclassing Satchmo's Category model, but then getting the error "'Manager' object has no attribute 'root_categories'"

    I'm using Satchmo as part of a website I'm currently building. At the moment I'm trying add more functions to the Satchmo Category class, but obviously I'm not going to make any changes to the Satchmo files. So, I thought that subclassing the Category class would give me a new class which contains all the Satchmo Category properties and methods while allowing me to add my own. However, either Python subclassing doesn't work like that, or I am doing it wrong. Here is the code I'm using to subclass Category: from product.models import Category class MyCategory(Category): """ additional functions to pull data from the Satchmo store app """ One of the methods I can normally use from the Category class is: Category.objects.root_categories() however, when I try to access MyCategory.objects.root_categories() I get the following error: AttributeError: 'Manager' object has no attribute 'root_categories' Can anyone point me in the right direction for solving this?
