  • Prototype.js: How can i return an array without all the methods Prototypes extends Array with?

    - by Morten
Hi! Is there a way to return a new version of an array/hash that does not contain all the methods/functions that prototype extends the array object with? Example: var myArray = $A(); myArray['test'] = '1'; myArray['test2'] = '2'; var myVariableToPassToAjax = myArray; If I debug myVariableToPassToAjax it looks like this: Array ( [test] = 1 [test2] = 2 [each] = function each(iterator, context) { .......... .......... } ...and all the other extended array functions ); Is there a way to solve this? :-/ Morten

  • Django, javascript and code reuse problem

    - by dragoon
Hi, I have some sort of a design problem with my Django AJAX application. I have a template where I initialize js variable from django context variable like so: var test = "{{ test }}"; This variable is than used in a number of js functions that are needed for interface to work properly. So now I'm trying to reuse some content from this page in another page that loads it dynamically on some user interaction using jQuery.load(..), and I don't see any way how I can initialize that variable, so js functions don't work now. Is there any solution for this or may be I'm doing it wrong? Thanks.

  • Intra-Unicode "lean" Encoding Converters

    - by Mystagogue
Windows provides encoding conversion functions ("MultiByteToWideChar" and "WideCharToMultiByte") which are capable of UTF-8 to/from UTF-16 conversions, among other things. But I've seen people offer home-grown 30 to 40 line functions that claim also to perform UTF-8 / UTF-16 encoding conversions. My question is, how reliable are such tiny converters? Can such a tiny amount of code handle problems such as converting a UTF-16 surrogate pair (such as ) into a UTF-8 single four byte sequence (rather than making the mistake of converting into a pair of three byte sequences)? Can they correctly spot "unpaired" surrogate input, and provide an error? In short, are such tiny converters mere toys, or can they be taken seriously? For that matter, why does unicode.org seemingly offer no advice on an algorithm for accomplishing such conversions?

  • Bookmarklet to perform multiple tasks

    - by Emil Hajric
Hi everyone. I've been tinkering around this application all day long and have had a few difficulties. So basically the bookmarklet needs to allow the user to use a lot of functions from multiple JavaScript files, although all of the functions that the user will use are called from one file. Basically it includes all of the necessary files in order to perform a certain function. It uses jQuery, and I've found that it's really hard to have jQuery running on your bookmarklet. My question is: How can I load multiple javascript code files into your Bookmarklet? Yours truly, Emil Hajric.

  • Click edit button twice in gridview asp.net c# issue

    - by Supriyo Banerjee
    I have a gridview created on a page where I want to provide an edit button for the user to click in. However the issue is the grid view row becomes editable only while clicking the edit button second time. Not sure what is going wrong here, any help would be appreciated. One additional point is my grid view is displayed on the page only on a click of a button and is not there on page_load event hence. Posting the code snippets: //MY Aspx code <Columns> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Slice" SortExpression="name"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblslice" Text='<%# Eval("slice") %>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblslice" Text='<%# Eval("slice") %>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Metric" SortExpression="Description"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblmetric" Text='<%# Eval("metric")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblmetric" Text='<%# Eval("metric")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Original" SortExpression="Type"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lbloriginal" Text='<%# Eval("Original")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lbloriginal" Text='<%# Eval("Original")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="WOW" SortExpression="Market"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblwow" Text='<%# Eval("WOW")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblwow" Text='<%# Eval("WOW")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Change" SortExpression="Market" > <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="lblChange" Text='<%# Eval("Change")%>' runat="server"></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:TextBox ID="TxtCustomerID" Text='<%# Eval("Change") %> ' runat="server"></asp:TextBox> </EditItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> <asp:CommandField HeaderText="Edit" ShowEditButton="True" /> </Columns> </asp:GridView> //My code behind: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } public void populagridview1(string slice,string fromdate,string todate,string year) { SqlCommand cmd; SqlDataAdapter da; DataSet ds; cmd = new SqlCommand(); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; cmd.CommandText = "usp_geteventchanges"; cmd.Connection = conn; conn.Open(); SqlParameter param1 = new SqlParameter("@slice", slice); cmd.Parameters.Add(param1); SqlParameter param2 = new SqlParameter("@fromdate", fromdate); cmd.Parameters.Add(param2); SqlParameter param3 = new SqlParameter("@todate", todate); cmd.Parameters.Add(param3); SqlParameter param4 = new SqlParameter("@year", year); cmd.Parameters.Add(param4); da = new SqlDataAdapter(cmd); ds = new DataSet(); da.Fill(ds, "Table"); GridView1.DataSource = ds; GridView1.DataBind(); conn.Close(); } protected void ImpactCalc(object sender, EventArgs e) { populagridview1(ddl_slice.SelectedValue, dt_to_integer(Picker1.Text), dt_to_integer(Picker2.Text), Txt_Year.Text); } protected void GridView1_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e) { gvEditIndex = e.NewEditIndex; Gridview1.DataBind(); } My page layout This edit screen appears after clicking edit twice.. the grid view gets displayed on hitting the Calculate impact button.   • How to Identify a ListViewItem to Update a Single Row

    - by tunneling
I have a ListView displays information about an object. When I click a ListView Item, I open an Activity that let's me manipulate parameters of the object held in the adapter. These parameters are updated and stored remotely. When I return to the ListView (via the back button), I want to update the ListView Item that I clicked originally by requesting the parameter values from the remote server. I am currently doing this up updating the entire ListView by clearing it and rebuilding it. How do I reference the ListView Item so that I can update the data for that item only? Thanks, Jason

  • Scaffolding Web Services in Grails

    - by Dan
I need to implement a web app, but instead of using relational database I need to use different SOAP Web Services as a back-end. An important part of application only calls web services and displays the result. Since Web Services are clearly defined in form of Operation: In parameters and Return Type it seems to me that basic GUI could be easily constructed just like in the case of scaffolding based on Domain Entities. For example in case of SearchProducts web service operation I need to enter search parameters as input, so the search page can be constructed. Operation will return a list of products, so I need a page that will display this list in some kind of table. Is there already some library in grails that let you achieve this. If not, how would you go about creating one?

  • Ruby on Rails: What are partial hash arguments and full set arguments?

    - by williamjones
I'm using asserts_redirected_to in my unit tests, and I'm receiving this warning: DEPRECATION WARNING: Using assert_redirected_to with partial hash arguments is deprecated. Specify the full set arguments instead. What is a partial hash argument, and what is a full set argument? These aren't terms that I've seen used in the Rails community before, and the only relevant results I can find on Google for these are in reference to this deprecation warning. Here is my code: assert_redirected_to :controller => :user, :action => :search also tried: assert_redirected_to({:controller => :user, :action => :search}) I might have guessed that it feels I'm missing some parameters or something like that, but the API documentation explicitly says that not all parameters need to be included: http://rails.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionController/Assertions/ResponseAssertions.html

  • Scope of object properties & methods

    - by Anish
In the article Show love to the object literal, it's said: When we have several scripts in a page, the global variables & functions will get overwritten if their name repeats. One solution is to make the variables as properties & functions as methods of an object, and access them via the object name. But will this prevent the issue of variables getting into the global namespace? <script> var movie = { name: "a", trailer: function(){ //code } }; </script> In the above code which elements gets added to the global namespace? a) Just the object name - movie b) Object name as well as the properties and methods inside it – movie, movie.name, movie.trailer()

  • Confusion about MVC Routes

    - by yang
What is the problem below? routes.MapRoute( "Default2", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = "test" } // Parameter defaults ); routes.MapRoute( "Default1", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{name}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Report", name = "" } // Parameter defaults ); When I navigate to /home/index "id" parameter takes the default value of "test" but when I navigate to home/report the name parameter is null. In short, if the route definition is the first in the route table, then the parameter takes its default value. But the others below don't.

  • How do I shim a Excel automation addin that implements IDTExtensibility2 but is not a com add in?

    - by Shane
I found this article http://blogs.officezealot.com/whitechapel/archive/2005/05/21/4728.aspx but the example given is a straight automation add-in that does not implement IDTExtensibility2. My add in implements IDTExtensibility2 to get access to the excel object model but is not installed as a COM add in so RegisterFunction for example will called when one of the add in functions is first used not when the excel starts as in the case of the a COM add in. Will this method described in the link above work in my case also? I tried version 2.3.1 of the shim wizard which seems to have support for automations add-ins (it has a check box for automation add ins in the metadata import process). The generated shim runs (I can see breakpoints being hit in the debugger), but my functions no longer work (i get #NAME). The shims is installed as a COM add in and loads when excel starts so I suspect it's not doing what I want.

  • C++ Project compiles as static lib, fails (linker error) as dynamic lib. why??

    - by Roey
Hi All. I've a VS2008 native C++ project, that I wish to compile as a DLL. It only references one external library (log4cplus.lib), and uses its functions. (also uses log4cplus's .h files , naturally). When I try to compile my project as a static library, it succeeeds. When I try as DLL, it fails : 1>MessageWriter.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: static class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl log4cplus::Logger::getInstance(class std::basic_string<wchar_t,struct std::char_traits<wchar_t>,class std::allocator<wchar_t> > const &)" (?getInstance@Logger@log4cplus@@SA?AV12@ABV?$basic_string@_WU?$char_traits@_W@std@@V?$allocator@_W@2@@std@@@Z) referenced in function "class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl Log(void)" (?Log@@YA?AVLogger@log4cplus@@XZ) There are 4 more errors just like this related to functions within log4cplus.lib. It seems like something really stupid.. please help me :) Thanks!

  • Executing Secondary Applications

    - by JooBlow
I have an application I am attempting to make "portable". The application contains a lot of secondary utility functions that I would like to execute on external files(from the app). I tried adding them in the build process but I didn't get any "Executables" for them(just the main one and a few others). Is there a way to get these to excute? They are basically command line utility functions to process some text files but use large files in the distribution and are also used by the main application. Thanks

  • Do i *have* to use ObservableCollection in Silverlight WCF client?

    - by Simon_Weaver
When accessing Silverlight in WCF you get proxies generated with ObservableCollection Thats fine when you're databinding, but a little clumsy when you're just calling a method. For instance the following service method : [OperationContract] public SearchOrdersMsgOut SearchOrders(ShippingStatusType[] shippingStatuses, string[] orderId) { } gets generated with ObservableCollection. What! They're just parameters. Why would I ever want to 'observe' them? I'm fine if I have to do this - but it seems like there should be a way to force simple array structures when I know I'm never databinding - especially on input messages. I'd much rather do this : searchCriteria.PaymentStatus = new [] { PaymentStatusType.PaymentFailed, PaymentStatusType.Unpaid }; than this : searchCriteria.PaymentStatus = new ObservableCollection<PaymentStatusType> { PaymentStatusType.PaymentFailed, PaymentStatusType.Unpaid }; Is there a way? PS. I do actually use a SearchCriteria object for my search criteria - but I simplified for this example wondering if parameters were handled differently.

  • Modify url for bookmarking using JavaScript

    - by jamesaharvey
I'm exploring my options for modifying urls in the browser bar for bookmarking purposes. Ideally, I'd like to add querystring parameters and cannot determine if this is even possible. I don't want the page to refresh and want to add querystring values on link clicks, ajax calls, etc. If I can't add querystring parameters, then I'd like to add hash values (http:://someurl.com#hash-value). How should I go about doing this? Should I use plain JavaScript or a framework (jquery, prototype, etc.) and/or framework plugin.

  • How to use a DHT for a social trading environment

    - by Lirik
I'm trying to understand if a DHT can be used to solve a problem I'm working on: I have a trading environment where professional option traders can get an increase in their risk limit by requesting that fellow traders lend them some of their risk limit. The lending trader will can either search for traders with certain risk parameters which are part of every trader's profile, i.e. Greeks, or the lending trader can subscribe to requests from certain traders. I want this environment to be scalable and decentralized, but I don't know how traders can search for specific profile parameters when the data is contained in a DHT. Could anybody explain how this can be done?

  • Struct in C, are they efficient?

    - by pygabriel
I'm reading some C code like that: double function( int lena, double xa,double ya, double za, double *acoefs, ..., int lenb, double xb,double yb, double zb, double *bcoefs, ..., same for c, same for d ) This function is called in the code mor than 100.000 times so it's performance-critical. I'm trying to extend this code but I want to know if it's efficient or not (and how much this influences the speed) to encapsulate all the parameters in a struct like this struct PGTO { int len; double x,y,z ; double *acoefs } and then access the parameters in the function.

  • Windows threading: _beginthread vs _beginthreadex vs CreateThread C++

    - by Lirik
What's a better way to start a thread? I'm trying to determine what are the advantages/disadvantages of _beginthread, _beginthreadex and CreateThread. All of these functions return a thread handle to a newly created thread, I already know that CreateThread provides a little extra information when an error occurs (it can be checked by calling GetLastError)... but what are some things I should consider when I'm using these functions? I'm working with a windows application, so cross-platform computability is already out of the question. I have gone through the msdn documentation and I just can't understand, for example, why anybody would decide to use _beginthread instead of CreateThread or vice versa. Cheers! Update: OK, thanks for all the info, I've also read in a couple of places that I can't call WaitForSingleObject() if I used _beginthread(), but if I call _endthread() in the thread shouldn't that work? What's the deal there?

  • Where are my $_FILES? Ajax Uploading

    - by Richard Testani
I've built a form to upload images, and processed with Prototype/PHP. $('image_upload').observe('submit', function() { var params = $H(); params.set('name', $('image_title').value); params.set('from', $('from_who').value); params.set('upload_file', $('upload_file').value); new Ajax.Request('/files/upload_process.php', { method:'post', parameters: params, onSuccess: function(r) { $('uploadbox').update('<img src="/images/interface/thankyou.png" />'); } }) }); The form itself sends the data to the server, but when I try to output print_r($_FILES['upload_file']); nothing appears, not even an empty array. If I output print_r($_POST), the parameters are sent properly, but only the file name of the image. So it seems the files themselves are not being sent along. How do I handle this? Thanks Rich

  • Correct usage of Voldemort as key-value pair?

    - by zengr
Hello, I am trying to understand, how can Voldermort be used? Say, I have this scenario: Since, Voldemort is a key-value pair. I need to fetch a value (say some text) on the basis of 3 parameters. So, what will be the key in this case? I cannot use 3 keys for 1 value right, but that value should be search able on the basis of those 3 parameters. Am I making sense? Thanks EDIT1 eg: A blog system. A user posts a blog: User's data stored: Name, Age and Sex The blog content (text) is stored. Now, I need to use Voldemort here, if a user searches from the front end for all the blog posts by Sex: Male Then, my code should query voldemort and return all the "blog content (text)" which have Sex as Male.

  • How can I use my own connection class with a strongly typed dataset?

    - by Maslow
I have designed a class with sqlClient.SqlCommand wrappers to implement such functionality as automatic retries on timeout, Async (thread safety), error logging, and some sql server functions like WhoAmI. I've used some strongly typed datasets mainly for display purposes only, but I'd like to have the same database functionality that I use with my class. Is there an interface I can implement or a way to hook my command/connection class into the dataset at design or runtime? Or would I need to somehow write a wrapper for the dataset to implement these types of functions? if this is the only option could it be made generic to wrap anything that inherits from dataset?

  • Function arguments VBA

    - by user1068249
I have these three functions: When I run the first 2 functions, There's no problem, but when I run the last function (LMTD), It says 'Division by zero' yet when I debug some of the arguments have values, some don't. I know what I have to do, but I want to know why I have to do it, because it makes no sense to me. Tinn-function doesn't have Tut's arguments, so I have to add them to Tinn-function's arguments. Same goes for Tut, that doesn't know all of Tinn's arguments, and LMTD has to have both of Tinn and Tut's arguments. If I do that, it all runs smoothly. Why do I have to do this? Public Function Tinn(Tw, Qw, Qp, Q, deltaT) Tinn = (((Tw * Qw) + (Tut(Q, fd, mix) * Q)) / Qp) + deltaT End Function Public Function Tut(Q, fd, mix) Tut = Tinn(Tw, Qw, Qp, Q, deltaT) - (avgittEffektAiUiLMTD() / ((Q * fd * mix) / 3600)) End Function Public Function LMTD(Tsjo) LMTD = ((Tinn(Tw, Qw, Qp, Q, deltaT) - Tsjo) - (Tut(Q, fd, mix) - Tsjo)) / (WorksheetFunction.Ln ((Tinn(Tw, Qw, Qp, Q, deltaT) - Tsjo) / (Tut(Q, fd, mix) - Tsjo))) End Function
