    My business layer passes all the required information to UI layer. From what I have read, in general, best practice is to send fetched data to UI layer, and to avoid passing queries like ObjectQuery. My problem with this approach is next: If I am to make a flexible business layer, then I should allow UI to sort the data anyway it requires. Fetching sorted data from database, and then resorting them in UI is kind of bad practice for me, so the only way is to somehow So what are my options? Is there a way to make it like this: public void OrderByMethod(params ...) { .... } so I can call it like this: OrderByMethod(MyEntity.Property1, MyEntity.Property2 descending....); Thanks, Goran

  • ListBoxFor not populating with selected items

    I've see this question asked a couple of other times, and I followed this after I tried things on my own with the MS music store demo to no avail, but I still can't get this to work. I've also noticed when I look at my MultiSelectList object in the viewmodel, it has the correct items in the selected items property, but if I expand the results view, it doesn't have any listboxitem with the selected value. The cab is created and i can copy it on the device and install the app. What im missing is that on device the application is not present in Programs folder. All i can do is browse to its location in /program files and run it manualy. Can some1 tell me how to: install CAB so it makes a shortcut in programs on device run the application automaticly after it has been installed thanx !

    I am trying to run this code: ItemTaxonomy iTaxonomy = from itemTaxonomy in connection.ItemTaxonomy where itemTaxonomy.Item.ID == itemView.ID orderby itemTaxonomy.Taxonomy.Name select itemTaxonomy; When I compiled it I get the error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Linq.IOrderedQueryable<Website.Models.ItemTaxonomy>' to 'Website.Models.ItemTaxonomy'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) I believe the issue is with orderby itemTaxonomy.Taxonomy.Name but I am just trying to order by the name of Taxonomy items instead of their IDs. Is there a way to do that?

    Hi, There is a problem that I can't resolve. I am developing a project and test on my computer which runs as expected. But when I move the project to testing server, which also has Zend Server CE, it gives blank page. Display errors function is ON and I put try catch at the very begining, but it still shows a blank page. When ever I write "exit;" command at the end of related view script, page works normally! What can couse this problem ? Thanks

    Hi, I have a news table and I would like to implement custom ordering. I have done this before via a positional mapping table which has newsIds and a position. I then LEFT OUTER JOIN the position table ON news.newsId = position.itemId with a select case statement CASE WHEN [position] IS NULL THEN 9999 ELSE [position] END and order by position asc, articleDate desc. Now I am trying to do the same with Linq to Entities. I have set up my tables with a PK, FK relationship so that my News object has an Entity Collection of positions. Now comes the bit I can't work out. How to implement the LEFT OUTER JOIN. I have so far: var query = SelectMany (n => n.Positions, (n, s) => new { n, s }) .OrderBy(x => x.s.position) .ThenByDescending(x => x.n.articleDate) .Select(x => x.n); This kinda works. However this uses a INNER JOIN so not what I am after. I had another idea: ret = ret.OrderBy(n => n.ShufflePositions.Select(s => s.position)); However I get the error DbSortClause expressions must have a type that is order comparable. I also tried ret = ret.GroupJoin(tse.ShufflePositions, n => n.id, s => s.itemId, (n, s) => new { n, s }) .OrderBy(x => x.s.Select(z => z.position)) .ThenByDescending(x => x.n.articleDate) .Select(x => x.n); but I get the same error! If anyone can help me out, it would be much appreciated!

  • Strange problem with PHP and sessions

    So the basis of this page is I set a session value when the page loads, and clear it on any other page they visit. Then the page can make an ajax call to download a file. If the session value matches the value I pass through the URL I allow them to download the file. If not I return a 404 error. I was having some weird issues, so I removed the 404 and set it to echo out the values instead to see what I was getting. Here is the top of the code on the page: $code = $this->_request->getParam('code'); $confirm = $_SESSION['mp3_code']; echo $code."-1-".$confirm; if($code != $confirm) echo $code."-2-".$confirm;//header("HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found"); else { Here is what displays on the page from the ajax call 12723430-1-12723430-2- As you can see when it echos out the first time they exist, then somehow after I compare them and it fails you see that it echos out blank values like they suddenly ceased to exist. Any ideas?

I've set xdebug so that I can debug my site on apache but when I click 'debug as web page' in the eclipse ide only the breakpoint in the public/index.php and in the views get hit.     I have two entity models hooked up to two different databases. However, the two databases both have a table named 'brand', for example. As such, there is a naming conflict in my models. Now, I've been able to add a namespace to each model, via Custom Tool Namespace in the model's properties, but the generated code in my Silverlight project will try to use both namespaces, and come up with this, Imports MyProject.ModelA Imports MyProject.ModelB Public ReadOnly Property brands() As EntitySet(Of brand) Get Return MyBase.EntityContainer.GetEntitySet(Of brand) End Get End Property giving me this exception: 'Error 1 'brand' is ambiguous, imported from the namespaces or types 'MyProject.ModelA,MyProject.ModelB'. Has anyone had experience with naming conflicts like this using RIA services? How did you solve it?
