• MPMoviePlayerController and status bar in iPad

  I want to show a MPMoviePlayerController in a view controller and let the user toggle full screen with the default controls. I'm using the following code in a bare-bones example: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.player = [[MPMoviePlayerController alloc] init]; self.player.contentURL = theURL; self.player.view.frame = self.viewForMovie.bounds; self.player.view.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth | UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleHeight; [self.viewForMovie addSubview:player.view]; [self.player play]; } This works well until the user makes the video full screen, rotates the device and taps on the screen.   I'm printing a PDF file by executing a commandline application from within my C# application. Now I wanna know when this job is printed. I was hoping there would be some kind of event I could subscribe to, and handle it. But I couldn't find it. So now I'm resorting to polling. And checking the JobStatus of a PrinterSystemJobInfo object. But in my case this either gives me JobStatus = None or JobStatus = Printing. PrinterSystemJobInfo.JobStatus Can someone tell me how to reliably check a print job status using C#?

  At the beginning of a section of C# code that could take several seconds to complete, I'd like to display a non modal form with a label that just says, "Please wait..." WaitForm myWaitForm = null; try { // if conditions suggest process will take awhile myWaitForm = new WaitForm(); myWaitForm.Show(); // do stuff } finally { if (myWaitForm != null) { myWaitForm.Hide(); myWaitForm.Dispose(); myWaitForm = null; } } The problem: the WaitForm doesn't completely display before the rest of the code ties up the thread. So I only see the frame of the form. In Delphi (my old stomping ground) I would call Application.ProcessMessages after the Show() Is there an equivalent in C#? • ShareThis causing "Transfering Data From" in Firefox status bar

  There is a conflict with the ShareThis script and another script I have on my site. • Debuging to simulator crashes with "exited with status 5" unless I have breakpoint

  For some reason the app I am working on has very bad PMT! Literally! Most of the time I cannot debug using the simulator without putting a breakpoint in my AppDelegate. If I don't it exists with "status 5". If I put a break point in and simple continue it works perfectly well, it also works if I run the app in the simulator when not connected to the GDB. I have tried the source on a second machine with exactly the same results. I dont have this issue building to the device?!?!?! Thanks

• Curious to Know what Eclipse 'Show Heap Status' does

  Hi All In Eclipse (I am using 3.4 Ganymede) there is an option under Preferences>General>Show Heap Status which when checked shows near bottom of IDE like 46M of 98M and if we move the mouse over 'Recycle Bin' it says 'Run Garbage Collector'. I am curoius to know how this works.What will happen when 'Run Garbage Collector' is clicked. My enivroment set up is something like jdk6 is insatlled and IDE used for development and run in Tomcat server. So my understanding is all the objects which are run through Tomcat should be garbage collected. Is this correct. Is there a way to see what objects Eclipse identified as Garbage Cheers

• Create an autocompleter like the Facebook status update

  Hello I'm trying to create a div with contenteditable like the Facebook status update. Then I mean I want to show an autocomplete box when the user have written @. How would you do that. Currently I'm just playing with keypress and check if the keycode = 64. Somehow that works, but it doesn't validate if there's a space before the alfa, or if the user has unfocused the box, then focused it again. Any ideas?   I know that Mercurial can track renames of files, but how do I get it to show me renames instead of adds/removes when I do hg status? For instance, instead of: A bin/extract-csv-column.pl A bin/find-mirna-binding.pl A bin/xls2csv-separate-sheets.pl A lib/Text/CSV/Euclid.pm R src/extract-csv-column.pl R src/find-mirna-binding.pl R src/modules/Text/CSV/Euclid.pm R src/xls2csv-separate-sheets.pl I want some indication that four files have been moved. I think I read somewhere that the output is like this to preserve backward-compatibility with something-or-other, but I'm not worried about that.

• Git Status Across Multiple Repositories on a Mac

I have several Git Repositories in a folder on my Mac (OSX 10.6) and would like a script or tool that will loop through all the repositories and let me know if any of them needs "commit"-ing. This is my structure Sites   /project1   /project2   /project3 I want the tool to do a "git status" in Sites/project1, Sites/project2, Sites/project3 and let me know if Sites/project2 and Sites/project3 have changes or new files and needs to be Staged/committed The closest script I found that might be hackable is here: http://gist.github.com/371828 but even that script wouldn't run and I get an error: "syntax error near unexpected token `do" which might have been written for *nix.

• IE to show Full URL path in the Title bar as in Status Bar

  Windows XP and IE8. Tabbed Browsing is OFF. So every single web page has its own title. I want to see in the title the same as I see in the Status bar i.e. I want the full URL of the web page I am viewing to be displayed in the Title bar, and so in the Task bar button too. • Getting progress status out of a class library method

  This app that I am doing uses a class library (if I dare call it that) to do the bulk of the work: 2 main methods in there (DoWork and UndoWork) use the other classes to achieve thier goal. Now that that works, I want to get out of the Console test enviroment and do a GUI. How would I get the status of say, the DoWork() method to update a progress bar? Should I multilate the class library (which currently works with the Console and Windows.Forms) to update? The problem with that is that I would surely have to make the class library use Window.Forms which will mess up the console testing apps (And there are lots of them - I tested all the way through, and then all together). Could you suggest some ideas, or places I can read up about ideas (the whole point of writing this this program is to learn, afer all)? Oh, by the way, suggestions like "foresight" or "planning" probably won't help here...(now, anywyay!) - But certainly will in future projects!

  Hi, I'm using gdb to connect to a 2.6.31.13 linux kernel patched with KGDB over Ethernet, and when I try to detach the debugger I get this: (gdb) quit A debugging session is active. (y or n) y Bogus trace status reply from target: E22 after that the session is still open, I can keep going on and on with ctrl+d, and the debugger doesn't exit.   Ok so I am learning C++ slowly. I am familiar with all the console syntax and everything, but now I'm moving on to windows programming. Now what im trying to do, is create a DLL that I inject into a process, so it's hooked in. All I want the C++ application to do, is have text in it, that says "Hooked" if it's successfully injected, and an error if something wrong happened. Or even if I can do it without a DLL, Just open an executable, and when the certain process I'm trying to hook is opened, the status is changed to "Hooked". • RESTful API design - should a PUT return related data?

  I have an API which allows a user to update their system status; and a separate call to retrieve system status updates from other users. Would it make sense to unify them under a PUT request where a user would request a PUT update with their own status update, and they would receive the status updates of other users? My solution would allow the PUT request to call the GET request method internally. The reason behind this is that when a user updates their system status they should be informed of other users status immediately, and I don't feel that having 2 seperate requests is necessary - and should be optional. I intend to keep the GET request for other users status as a status update for a user is not necessarily required in order to retrieve other users status', but once they update their own status is it vital that they get information about other users.
