• "type" Command Not Working As Expected on Git Bash

  The type command, in Linux, returns the location, on the filesystem, of the given file, if it is in the current folder or the $PATH. This functionality is also available through Windows with the Git Bash command line program. The command also returns a file's location given the file without its extension (.exe, .vbs, etc.) However, I have run into what seems like a strange corner case where the file exists on the $PATH but doesn't get returned using the command. I am thinking of buying a new computer soon, so I looked up the method of transferring the license key from one computer to another, in preparation for actually doing this. The method I found mentioned the files slmgr.vbs and slui.exe, both of which reside in the C:/Windows\System32 folder, which is in my $PATH, as usual for a Windows computer. However, these two files aren't showing up when I use the type command. Also, neither gets executed when I call the files as commands without their extensions in Git Bash, and only slmgr.vbs gets executed when I call them with the extensions. Finally, slmgr.vbs is shown when listing the folder's contents in Git Bash, as well, but slui.exe isn't. I thought this might have to do with permissions, and, indeed, both files have very restrictive permissions, as you can see in the pictures below, but they both have the same permissions, which wouldn't explain why one gets executed and the other doesn't when called directly, nor why one file is listed on command line but the other isn't. • Apache 2.4 + PHP-FPM + ProxyPassMatch

  I recently installed Apache 2.4 on my local machine, together with PHP 5.4.8 using PHP-FPM. Everything went quite smoothly (after a while...) but there is still a strange error: I configured Apache for PHP-FPM like this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/apfelbox/WebServer" ProxyPassMatch ^/(.*\.php(/.*)?)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9000/Users/apfelbox/WebServer/$1 </VirtualHost> It works, for example if I call http://localhost/info.php I get the correct phpinfo() (it is just a test file). If I call a directory however, I get a 404 with body File not found. and in the error log: [Tue Nov 20 21:27:25.191625 2012] [proxy_fcgi:error] [pid 28997] [client ::1:57204] AH01071: Got error 'Primary script unknown\n' Update I now tried doing the proxying with mod_rewrite: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/apfelbox/WebServer" RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^/(.*\.php(/.*)?)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9000/Users/apfelbox/WebServer/$1 [L,P] </VirtualHost> But the problem is: it is always redirecting, because on http://localhost/ automatically http://localhost/index.php is requested, because of DirectoryIndex index.php index.html Update 2 Ok, so I think "maybe check whether there is a file to give to the proxy first: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "/Users/apfelbox/WebServer" RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f RewriteRule ^/(.*\.php(/.*)?)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9000/Users/apfelbox/WebServer/$1 [L,P] </VirtualHost> Now the complete rewriting does not work anymore... This does not work when using URL rewriting inside a subdirectory, also it fails for URLs like http://localhost/index.php/test/ So back to square one. Any ideas?

  Hi, I've set up a fresh Apache 2.2.15 server on windows server 2008 R2 with mod_perl (mod perl v2.0.4 / perl v5.10.1). Mod_perl and Perl 5.10 has been installed and loaded without problems. However, despite my configuration, the mod_perl module is failing to recognize and execute my .pl file, instead opting to print out the perl source instead. What did I do wrong, and how do I make perl process my pl script instead of sending it to the client? • Removing offline/defunct files in SQL server 2008

  How to remove traces of files marked as OFFLINE or DEFUNCT in Microsoft SQL server 2008? I have been playing around with a setup where I create a database with 3 file-groups which are: Primary, FileGroupData and FileGroupIndex. The clustered index is using FileGroupData and a non-clustered index is set to use FileGroupIndex. To simulate a disk failure I've shut down SQL server and manually deleted the files in index file-group. To start the database I'll mark the files 'OFFLINE', but after that I can't delete the index files, which are now offline. I don't have backup of the files as they are merely indices, but that has the implication that I can't restore the files and have their status as "ONLINE". How would you recommend removing the files and the file-group as they still show up in management studio under files/file-groups. Management studio is not able to delete them.   I have the following situation: A site hosted in apache 2.4, with ssl, that works like a charm for a while now, but out of no where, without modifications to the site, apache started serving random blank pages. This lets me know that my certificate is a-ok. Update: Both ldap modules are turned on, since using ldap instead of ldaps works fine. However, these all have the same file name and are embedded deep within separate ZIP files. The potentially useful tools I currently have at my disposal are Windows XP Professional SP3, PowerShell, and WinZip. I'd rather not download or install anything else, but I do understand that third-party tools (or additional tools from Microsoft or WinZip) may be necessary. Whatever tools I use should run natively in Windows. I really don't want to have to mess with Cygwin or other emulators on this system. At the very least, I need a tool that will allow me to analyze and manipulate ZIP files from the command line. Also, are there any other particular complications to this that I've not yet thought of?

I tried to create a file called client-config.wsdd as describer in http://code.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=15137 but without success (I don't get a log file). Requests are made over https and I am not sure if it matters.   I have put the main bits of my httpd.conf down below. I am using %1 to get the host field so I can dynamically add vhosts by just creating dns/folders. • Have I pushed the limits of my current VPS or is there room for optimization?

  I am currently on a mediatemple DV server (basic) 512mb dedicated ram, this is a CentOS based VPS with Plesk and Virtuozzo. My experience with it from day 1 has been bad and I only could sooth my server issues with several caching "Band-aids," but my sites are not as small as they were a year ago either so the issues have worsen. I have 3 Drupal installs running on separate (plesk) domains, 1 of those drupal installs is a multisite, that consists of 5-6 sites 2 of those sites are bringing in actual traffic. Those caching "Band-aids" I mentioned are APC, which seemed to help alot initially, and Drupal's Boost, which is considered a poorman's Varnish, it makes all my pages static for anonymous users. Last 30day combined estimate on Google Ananlytics: 90k visitors 260k pageviews. Issue: alot of downtime, I am continually checking if my sites are up, and lately I have been finding it down more than 3 times daily. Restarting Apache will bring it back up, for some time. I have google search every error message and looked up ways to optimize my DV server, and I am beyond stump what is my next move. • Magento Apache Config & Memory Issues

  I have a Magento installation on a VPS that is giving me a headache. This particular VPS has a reasonable spec - 2gb Memory and 50gb storage. It runs a single domain, with a single Magento install - and nothing else. About 5 months ago we started having issues. Every so often (about once every 2 or 3 weeks) the VPS would crash - all processes stopped and the only way to restart the container is via Virtuozzo. Now, however its 2 or 3 times a week. My VPS hosts confirm I am breaching the 2gb memory limit, at which point all VPS processes are killed to stop it bringing the entire node down. I have not made any config changes to it at all - I was running New Relic on it for a short while, but have removed that in case it was contributing to the issues. I can see nothing in the logs which indicates an issue and we have no CRON jobs running at the time the crashes happen. The site generates steady, but not huge amounts of traffic (averaging usually less than 100 visits per day) Is there anything in particular I should have done to the Apache or PHP configs to help? Im not a massivley experienced Apache admin, but know more than enough to solve most problems... Failing that, any other ideas that might help? Can't afford for this site to be down this much.

• Ruby on Rails (Redmine) on Apache - 503 Error

  I am running a Ruby on Rails application called Redmine. It's been working fine, but today it's giving a 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable error. (It was initially set up by an employee who is now gone.) I've tried /etc/init.d/redmine start which gives me this output => Booting Mongrel => Rails 2.3.11 application starting on http://0.0.0.0:3000 The contents of /etc/init.d/redmine: cd /var/redmine sudo ruby script/server -d -e production One thing I immediately notice is that it says 0.0.0.0 instead of 127.0.0.1. In addition, running top or ps -ef shows no record of a "mongrel" or "redmine" process. I've also tried restarting Apache before and after starting redmine. Not sure where to go from here.

• Apache subdomain not working

  I'm running apache on my local machine and I'm trying to create a subdomain, but it's not working. Here is what I have (stripped down): <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/one ServerName one.localhost </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/two ServerName two.localhost </VirtualHost> I recently added one. The two entry has been around for a while, and it still works fine (displays the webpage when I go to two.localhost). In fact, I copied the entire two.localhost entry and simply changed two to one, but it's not working. I have tried each of the following: * `apachectl -k graceful` * `apachectl -k restart` * `/etc/init.d/apache2 restart` * `/etc/init.d/apache2 stop && !#:0 start` Apache will complain if /var/www/one does not exist, so I know it's doing something, but when I visit one.localhost in my browser, the browser complains that nothing is there. I put an index.html file there and also tried going to one.localhost/index.html directly, and the browser still won't fine it. This is very perplexing since the entry I copied from two.localhost is exactly the same .. not only that, but if something were wrong I would expect to get a 500 rather than the browser not being able to find anything. The error_log also has nothing extra.

• Apache Alias Isn't In Directory Listing

  I've got a site running on my home server that's just a front end for me to grab files remotely. There's no pages, just a directory listing (Options Indexes...). I wanted to add a link to a directory outside of the webroot so I made an alias. After a minute of dealing with permissions, I can now navigate to the directory by typing the URL into the browser, but the directory isn't listed in the root index. Is there a way to do this without creating a symlink in the root? • Dynamic virtual host configuration in Apache

  I want to make a virtual host in Apache with dynamic configuration for my websites. For example something like this would be perfect. <VirtualHost *:80> AssignUserId $domain webspaces ServerName $subdomain.$domain.$tld ServerAdmin admin@$domain.$tld DocumentRoot "/home/webspaces/$domain.$tld/subdomains/$subdomain" <Directory "/home/webspaces/$domain.$tld/subdomains/$subdomain"> .... </Directory> php_admin_value open_basedir "/tmp/:/usr/share/pear/:/home/webspaces/$domain.$tld/subdomains/$subdomain" </VirtualHost> $subdomain, $domain, $tld would be extracted from the HTTP_HOST variable using regex at request time. No more loads of configuration, no more apache reloading every x minutes, no more stupid logic. Notice that I use mpm-itk (AssignUserId directive) so each virtual host runs as a different user. I do not intend to change this part. Since now I have tried: - mod_vhost_alias but this allows dynamic configuration of only the document root. - mod_macro but this still requires the arguments of the vhost to be declared explicitly for each vhost. - I have read about mod_vhs and other modules which store configuration in a SQL or LDAP server which is not acceptable as there is no need for configuration! Those 3 necessary arguments can be generated at runtime. - I have seen some Perl suggestions like this, but as the author states $s->add_config would add a directive after every request, thus leading to a memory leak, and $r->add_config seems not to be a feasible solution.

  Following the how-to, I wanted to make a proxy for traffic to the address /app to be processed by Tomcat 7. I restarted both Tomcat 7 and Apache 2 after doing the configurations above. Problem: When navigating to my webpage.com/app, I get the error 500. I consulted apache logs, it says: [warn] proxy: No protocol handler was valid for the URL /app. If you are using a DSO version of mod_proxy, make sure the proxy submodules are included in the configuration using LoadModule. Update: This is running in ubuntu. I resolved this by adding LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so to my httpd.conf. Now I have another question: How can I make this proxy to work on SSL through port 443?

• httpd.config Easy Apache WHM CentOS

  First let me explain how I got to this situation. I run a Streaming Video Site. Videos are about 100-250MB in size at any given time there are 500 people on the site. So I guess that would make then static. Recently My site started getting really slow and the only way to fix it temporarily was to restart apache. Now there was no change in traffic that could have caused this. My site is not being attacked. My hosting company recomended to implement mpm_mod and suPHP. They did that by using Easy Apache in WHMS. Then everything was working fine but a little slow. I researched around and to my understanding that mpm will do that but be more table. I was told that installing FastCGI would speed things up just enough. Well that made everything worse. The site is slow and time's out. I used WHM and took off fastCGI but its still the same, it seems like everything i do as of now nothing changes. I even did a roll back on the htconfig file but that didn't work. I'm not sure how to fix this. and my hosting network guy wont be able to touch the problem until Tuesday. I have root access.
