• Framework/service for hosting and managing files

  Hi, in a webapp I'm building there is a planned side feature of supporting product illustrations and manuals (so pictures and PDFs), possibly arranged in galleries. As I'd rather not implement from scratch all of the uploading, managing and serving of this content, I'm looking for existing solutions which I could integrate. For example, I'm considering Flickr--users of webapp specify their Flickr username and then use some naming convention to link objects in my webapp with pictures uploaded in their Flickr account. Very little code to write from my side, maybe just some API calls that proxy Flickr APIs, since Flickr would handle picture uploading, organizing them in sets, storing them in cloud and serving them in various sizes etc. One drawback here is that either all of the the pictures are public or I have to deal with interactive Flickr authorization. Also not sure if Flickr would be happy being used in such manner. What other online services or libraries/frameworks I should look at? My webapp is written in Python/Pylons, so Python libraries would be preferred. I'm already using some of Amazon infrastructure, so frontends to Amazon S3 would be cool. For online services, RESTful API would be nice.

  Hi guys, I have an issue with a query I'm trying to run on some data, I guess the place to start is to describe the data. Ok so I have a list of email addresses, each email address has a unique ID and an account ID Also in my tables I have a set number which auto incrememnts, this will allow me to target duplicate email addresses What I need to do is something like this. Insert into duplicates (EMAIL,ACCOUNTID,ID) SELECT Email,AccountID,ID FROM EmailAddresses Group by Email,AccountID Having Count(email)>1 Order by AccountID, Email So essentially I want to select all duplicate email addresses and insert them (and their relative fields) into a new table broken down by accountID so I can run some further querys on it. I have been battling with this for way too long and could just use a fresh perspective. Cheers in advance

• Java or C# + XNA for some simple animations?

  I want to make a program that will involve some faces with various facial expressions. They will change from one facial expression to another based on their "mood" as influenced by user input. I know some java but I have done pretty much nothing with graphics. A friend tells me that it will be easier to do this in C# with XNA than to do it in java. I have about a month to do this, so I was hoping you folks would help me make a decision. Would I be better off figuring out how to do this in java, or learning C# and XNA and doing it in C#? Is it so much easier to do this in C# that it would be quicker to learn C# than to struggle with doing it in java? Will it probably come out looking much better if it is in C#?

• Simple stream read/write question in java

  Hi, I'm trying to upload a file via URLConnection, but i need to read/write it as a binary file without any encoding changes. So i've tried to read byte[] array from FileInputStream, but now i have an issue. The PrintWriter object i use for outputing to the server does not allow me to do writer.write(content) (where content is of type byte[]). How can i fix this? Or is there another way to quickly copy binary data from a FileInputStream to a PrintWriter? Thank you

• C program giving incorrect output for simple math!

  (all are declared as ints, none are initialized to anything beforehand. I have included math.h and am compiling with -lm) cachesize = atoi(argv[1]); blocksize = atoi(argv[3]); setnumber = (cachesize/blocksize); printf("setnumber: %d\n", setnumber); setbits = (log(setnumber))/(log(2)); printf("sbits: %d\n", setbits); when given cachesize as 1024 and blocksize as 16 the output is as follows: setnumber: 64 sbits: 5 but log(64)/log(2) = 6 ! It works correctly when given cachesize 512 and blocksize 32. I can't seem to win. I'm really hoping that it's a stupid mistake on my part, and I'd be grateful if anyone could point out what it is!   When I replace $ordering = "apples, bananas, cranberries, grapes"; with $ordering = "apples, bananas, grapes"; I no longer want cranberries to be returned by my query, which I've written out like this: $query = "SELECT * from dbname where FruitName LIKE '$ordering'"; Of Course this doesn't work, because I used LIKE wrong. I've read through various manuals that describe how to use LIKE and it doesn't quite make sense to me. If I change the end of the db to "LIKE "apples"" that works for limiting it to just apples. Do I have to explode the ordering on the ", " or is there a way to do this in the query?

The result of which needs to be redirected to the same page. However after the operation on using the following: return new ModelAndView("newUser"); //This view "newUser" actually maps to the popped up window. A similar new window again pops up and the message gets displayed on this new page. How to go about this?

• Looking for a mobile platform to view vector data and use it like a simple map

  I would like to develop or use an existing platform that will allow me to view custom vector data and use it as a map on mobile phones such as Android/IPhone (Maybe even WP7). I'm hoping that there's already a good infrastructure for what I need so I would not need to develop a whole infrastructure by myself. In Conclusion - Is there any existing platform that may answer my needs? If not, how would you guys suggest I should begin? How should I save my vector data? How could I read it? Should I view it with a graphics engine like OpenGL? Is there any chance this solution could be cross-platform? I know that it's possible since it was already done with apps like Waze.
