  • Characters spilled over multiple columns in Oracle 11g?

    - by vicky21
    This is related to question: How to store unlimited characters in Oracle 11g? If maximum I need is 8000 characters, can I just add 3 more varchar2 columns so that I will have 4 columns with 2000 char each to get 8000 chars. So when the first column is full, values would be spilled over to the next column and so on. Will this design have any bad side effects? Please suggest.

  • How to use length indicator in a C++ program

    - by cj
    I want to make a program in C++ that reads a file where each field will have a number before it that indicates how long it is. The problem is I read every record in object of a class; how do I make the attributes of the class dynamic? For example if the field is "john" it will read it in a 4 char array. I don't want to make an array of 1000 elements as minimum memory usage is very important.

  • User oriented regex library for java

    - by Maxim Veksler
    Hello, I'm looking for a library that could perform "easy" pattern matching, a kind of pattern that can be exposed via GUI to users. It should define a simple matching syntax like * matches any char and alike. In other words, I want to do glob (globbing) like sun's implemented logic http://openjdk.java.net/projects/nio/javadoc/java/nio/file/PathMatcher.html but without relation to the file system. Ideas?

  • getopt implicit declaration in Solaris?

    - by Steven
    In Solaris, gcc gives me implicit declaration of function `getopt' when compiling #include <unistd.h> #include <stdlib.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { getopt(1,argv,""); return 0; } The man page for getopt says something about including unistd.h or stdio.h, however even though I'm inluding both I still get this warning. Is this normal? Is using functions that aren't explicitly declared common in Unix development?

  • Specify a base classes template parameters while instantiating a derived class?

    - by DaClown
    Hi, I have no idea if the title makes any sense but I can't find the right words to descibe my "problem" in one line. Anyway, here is my problem. There is an interface for a search: template <typename InputType, typename ResultType> class Search { public: virtual void search (InputType) = 0; virtual void getResult(ResultType&) = 0; }; and several derived classes like: template <typename InputType, typename ResultType> class XMLSearch : public Search<InputType, ResultType> { public: void search (InputType) { ... }; void getResult(ResultType&) { ... }; }; The derived classes shall be used in the source code later on. I would like to hold a simple pointer to a Search without specifying the template parameters, then assign a new XMLSearch and thereby define the template parameters of Search and XMLSearch Search *s = new XMLSearch<int, int>(); I found a way that works syntactically like what I'm trying to do, but it seems a bit odd to really use it: template <typename T> class Derived; class Base { public: template <typename T> bool GetValue(T &value) { Derived<T> *castedThis=dynamic_cast<Derived<T>* >(this); if(castedThis) return castedThis->GetValue(value); return false; } virtual void Dummy() {} }; template <typename T> class Derived : public Base { public: Derived<T>() { mValue=17; } bool GetValue(T &value) { value=mValue; return true; } T mValue; }; int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { Base *v=new Derived<int>; int i=0; if(!v->GetValue(i)) std::cout<<"Wrong type int."<<std::endl; float f=0.0; if(!v->GetValue(f)) std::cout<<"Wrong type float."<<std::endl; std::cout<<i<<std::endl<<f; char c; std::cin>>c; return 0; } Is there a better way to accomplish this?

  • Udp server sending only 0 bytes of data

    - by mawia
    Hi all, This is a simple Udp server.I am trying to transmit data to some clients,but unfortunetly it is unable to transmit data.Though send is running quite successfully but it is returning with a return value meaning it has send nothing.On the client they are receiving but again obviously,zero bytes. void* UdpServerStreamToClients(void *fileToServe) { int sockfd,n=0,k; struct sockaddr_in servaddr,cliaddr; socklen_t len; char dataToSend[1000]; sockfd=socket(AF_INET,SOCK_DGRAM,0); bzero(&servaddr,sizeof(servaddr)); servaddr.sin_family = AF_INET; servaddr.sin_addr.s_addr=htonl(INADDR_ANY); servaddr.sin_port=htons(32000); bind(sockfd,(struct sockaddr *)&servaddr,sizeof(servaddr)); FILE *fp; if((fp=fopen((char*)fileToServe,"r"))==NULL) { printf("can not open file "); perror("fopen"); exit(1); } int dataRead=1; while(dataRead) { len = sizeof(cliaddr); if((dataRead=fread(dataToSend,1,500,fp))<0) { perror("fread"); exit(1); } //sleep(2); for(list<clientInfo>::iterator it=clients.begin();it!=clients.end();it++) { cliaddr.sin_family = AF_INET; inet_aton(inet_ntoa(it->addr.sin_addr),&cliaddr.sin_addr); cliaddr.sin_port = htons(it->udp_port); n=sendto(sockfd,dataToSend,sizeof(dataToSend),0,(struct sockaddr *)&cliaddr,len); cout<<"number of bytes send by udp: "<< n << endl; printf("SEND this message %d : %s to %s :%d \n",n,dataToSend,inet_ntoa(cliaddr.sin_addr), ntohs(cliaddr.sin_port)); } } } I am checking the value of sizeof(dataTosend) and it is pretty much as expected ie thousand ie the size of buffer. Are you people seeing some possible flaw in it. All of the help in this regard will be appreciated. Thanks!

  • How to Concatenate 2 C strings, without overwriting any terminating Null characters?

    - by Ben313
    Hello, I am trying to set up a list of file names for a parameter to SHFileOperation. I want to be able to concatenate a file name onto the char array, but i dont want to get rid of the terminating character. for example, I want this: C:\...\0E:\...\0F:\...\0\0 when i use strcat(), it overwrites the null, so it looks like C:\...E:\...F:\...0\ Is there any easy way to do this? or am i going to have to code a new strcat for myself?

  • Call C (exposed) function from COBOL program

    - by Sunscreen
    Hi, Some time ago, I had created a DLL to be used in another C program. Basically I exposed specific functions by using the following within my dll: void __declspec(dllexport) MyFunc(myFirstArg, mySecondArg); Then I added an external file (MyExposedDll.h) with all exposed functions and structures to the new C program and included it: include MyExposedDll.h Now how can I use this dll (or mainly a dll) to a Cobol function? I need to expose a function that has two char* arguments and returns a boolean. Thanks, Sun

    Hi, In my C++ program, I need to call this c API: GConn* gnet_conn_new (const gchar *hostname, gint port, GConnFunc func); where GConnFunc is defined as: void (*GConnFunc) (GConn *conn); My question is if I have a C++ class and have a member function like Class A { public: A(); void my_func (GConn* conn); } In my A::A() Constructor, how can I pass this-myfunc to gnet_conn_new as the GConnFunc parameter? Thank you.

  • can't connect Java client to C server.

    - by nexes
    I have a very simple server written in C and an equally simple client written in Java. When I run them both on the same computer everything works, but when I try to run the server on computer A and the client on computer B, I get the error IOException connection refused from the java client. I can't seem to find out whats happening, any thoughts? I've even turned off the firewalls but the problem still persists. server. #include <stdio.h> #include <unistd.h> #include <string.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/socket.h> #include <netinet/in.h> #define PORT 3557 #define BUF 256 int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { struct sockaddr_in host, remote; int host_fd, remote_fd; int size = sizeof(struct sockaddr);; char data[BUF]; host.sin_family = AF_INET; host.sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY); host.sin_port = htons(PORT); memset(&host.sin_zero, 0, sizeof(host.sin_zero)); host_fd = socket(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0); if(host_fd == -1) { printf("socket error %d\n", host_fd); return 1; } if(bind(host_fd, (struct sockaddr *)&host, size)) { printf("bind error\n"); return 1; } if(listen(host_fd, 5)) { printf("listen error"); return 1; } printf("Server setup, waiting for connection...\n"); remote_fd = accept(host_fd, (struct sockaddr *)&remote, &size); printf("connection made\n"); int read = recv(remote_fd, data, BUF, 0); data[read] = '\0'; printf("read = %d, data = %s\n", read, data); shutdown(remote_fd, SHUT_RDWR); close(remote_fd); return 0; } client. import java.net.*; import java.io.*; public class socket { public static void main(String[] argv) { DataOutputStream os = null; try { Socket socket = new Socket("192.168.1.103", 3557); os = new DataOutputStream(socket.getOutputStream()); os.writeBytes("phone 12"); os.close(); socket.close(); } catch (UnknownHostException e) { System.out.println("Unkonw exception " + e.getMessage()); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("IOException caught " + e.getMessage()); } } }

  • Pass Variables In Inheritance (Obj - C)

    - by Marmik Shah
    I working on a project in Obj-C where i have a base class (ViewController) and a Derived Class (MultiPlayer). Now i have declared certain variables and properties in the base class. My properties are getting accessed from the derived class but im not able to access the variables (int,char and bool type). I'm completely new to Obj-C so i have no clue whats wrong. I have used the data types which are used in C and C++. Is there some specific way to declare variables in Obj-C?? If so, How? Here are my files ViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface ViewController : UIViewController @property (weak,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView* backGroungImage; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView1; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView2; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView3; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView4; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView5; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView6; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView7; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView8; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView *blockView9; @property (strong,nonatomic) UIImage *x; @property (strong,nonatomic) UIImage *O; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView* back1; @property (strong,nonatomic) IBOutlet UIImageView* back2; @end ViewController.m #import "ViewController.h" @interface ViewController () @end @implementation ViewController int chooseTheBackground = 0; int movesToDecideXorO = 0; int winningArrayX[3]; int winningArrayO[3]; int blocksTotal[9] = {8,3,4,1,5,9,6,7,2}; int checkIfContentInBlocks[9] = {0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0}; char determineContentInBlocks[9] = {' ',' ',' ',' ',' ',' ',' ',' ',' '}; bool player1Win = false; bool player2Win = false; bool playerWin = false; bool computerWin = false; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; if(chooseTheBackground==0) { UIImage* backImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"MainBack1.png"]; _backGroungImage.image=backImage; } if(chooseTheBackground==1) { UIImage* backImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"MainBack2.png"]; _backGroungImage.image=backImage; } } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Dispose of any resources that can be recreated. } @end I am not able to use the above declared variables in my derived classes!

  • Telephone Directory

    - by Mizukage of Meron 5
    I need your help. We are ask to make a telephone directory program that asks your name, address, and telephone number. If the name you entered already exists, it will display that it already exists. This is what i have so far... #include<stdio.h> #include<conio.h> struct file { char name[25],address[25]; double telno; }; char tempname[25],tempadd[25]; double tempnum; int x; int choice; FILE *fp; main() { struct file rec; clrscr(); fp=fopen("TelDir.txt","a+"); while(!feof(fp)) { fscanf(fp,"%s %s %.0lf,&tempname,&tempadd,&tempnum); printf("\n%s\t\t%s\t\t\t%.0lf",tempname,tempadd,tempnum); printf("\nEnter Name: "); gets(rec.name); if(strcmp(rec.name,tempname)==1) { printf("\n\nALREADY EXIST!"); printf("\n%s\t\t%s\t\t\t%.0lf",tempname,tempadd,tempnum); getch(); } else { printf("Enter Address: "); scanf("%s",&rec.address); printf("Enter your Telephone No.: "); scanf("%lf",&rec.telno); printf("%s\t\t%s\t\t%\t\t0lf",rec.name,rec.address,rec.telno); fprintf(fp,"%s %s %.0lf\n",rec.name,rec.address,rec.telno); } } fclose(fp); getch(); } But this thing doesn't work. I don't know where the error is. Can someone help me on this? I would really appreciate if you could help me somehow.
