  • What is the best way to manage unix process from java?

    - by erotsppa
I'm looking for some simple tasks like listing all the running process of a user, or kill a particular process by pid etc. Basic unix process management from Java. Is there a library out there that is relatively mature and documented? I could run a external command from the JVM and then parse the standard output/error but that seems like a lot of work and not robust at all. Any suggestions?

  • Structure for Django methods that span different models

    - by Duncan
I have two models (say A and B) which are independent and have independent methods. I want to add some methods that operate on both models though. for example, addX() will create an object from both models A and B. What's the best way to structure code in this situation, since it doesnt make sense to have the method belong to either of the models methods. Is the standard to write a service for the kind of 'abstract' model?

  • How to build a test suite in watir?

    - by karlthorwald
I have some single watir.rb scripts that use IE and are written in a standard watir way. How do I create a test suite that combines them? Is it possible to enumerate the files that should be included in the test suite? Is it possible to auto include single test files into a test suite by subidr? Can I cascade (include other watir suites in watir suites)?

  • Scala Hoogle equivalent?

    - by Alexey Romanov
Hoogle allows you to search many standard Haskell libraries by either function name, or by approximate type signature. I find it very useful. Is there anything like Hoogle for Scala? Search in ScalaDoc 2 only finds types and packages by name.

  • VB6 Inet control: possible to not use IE cookies?

    - by Spangles Forever
Hello I'm using the standard VB6 internet transfer control (Inet). A great feature of it is that it uses IE cookies, so it is possible to authenticate into a website using IE. I can then use my app to download authenticated pages. However, is it possible to do the opposite, to get the control to ignore any IE cookies?

  • COM(C++) Programming Tutorials

    - by Deep-B
Hey guys, I was wondering if there're any good sites that deal with learning C++/COM from the ground up? Looking for something like a crash course (two weeks, and not being hypothetical here). Assume knowledge in standard C/C++, or at least not a complete dummy.

  • LDAP c++ API choice

    - by ypnos
I would like to write my own LDAP client under Linux, specific to our local environment. Most probably I will use QT4 to provide a shiny frontend without much hassle. I found that there seems to be no standard C++ library for this. OpenLDAP provides a C API and there should also be a C++ API (experimental?) somewhere.. Do I need to use the C stuff or is there a C++ API out there worth of recommendation?

  • Is jdbc or ldap faster for basic read operations?

    - by Brandon
I have a set of user data which I am try to access. Due to the way our company's employee data is set up, the information is available both through LDAP and through a table in our DB. I was curious, for standard read operations which would generally be a higher performance query?

  • Deep clone utility recomendation

    - by Supowski
Is there any utility for deep cloning for java collections: Arrays Lists Maps NOTE: prefer some solution without usage of serialization, but with use of Object.clone() method. I can be sure that my custom object will implement clone() method and will use only java-standard classes that are cloneable...

  • .NET timezone information

    - by dotnetrocks
What is the standard format for datetime with timezone in a C# ASP.NET application? Updated to clarify: In ASP.NET I need to check a datetime from a Domino database against a .NET DateTime. • How to perform a select using a WHERE NOT EXISTS

    - by Peter Bridger
I'm using LINQ2SQL and I want to compare two tables and select all rows that are missing from one tables (based upon one of the column values). In standard SQL I would write this as: SELECT FirstName, LastName, RefId, Email FROM Users_ActiveDirectory AS ADU WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT U.RefId FROM Users AS U WHERE U.RefID = ADU.RefId ) However I'm not sure how to achieve the same result using LINQ2SQL?

  • A simple question about type coercion in C++

    - by David
Given a function prototype, and a type definition: int my_function(unsigned short x); typedef unsigned short blatherskite; Is the following situation defined by standard: int main(int argc, char** argv) { int result; blatherskite b; b=3; result = my_function(b); } Do I get type coercion predictably via the function prototype?

  • Can you explicitly set a structure layout/alignment in C++ as you can in C#?

    - by Gary Willoughby
In C# you have nice alignment attributes such as this: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Explicit)] public struct Message { [FieldOffset(0)] public int a; [FieldOffset(4)] public short b; [FieldOffset(6)] public int c; [FieldOffset(22)] //Leave some empty space just for the heck of it. public DateTime dt; } Which gives you fine control on how you need your structure to be layed out in memory. Is there such a thing in standard C++?

  • javascript replace i into I

    - by Eric Sim
I need a javascript to replace i into I. This should apply to cases such as i'm good. So am i. He though i love him. The standard ThisContent = ThisContent.replace("i", "I"); doesn't work because it replaces every i. I also thought of ThisContent = ThisContent.replace(" i ", " I "); but it doesn't work for the first and second case. Any idea?

  • OpenGL 3 equivillant of GLUTesselator?

    - by user146780
I was wondering, since things like display lists are now deprecated, I'm thinking the GLU polygon tesselator is probably also deprecated. What is the new and correct way of creating concave or complex polygons and complying with the new GL 3 standard? Thanks.
