  • PHP using count() with array

    Hi there, Im trying to get the amount of elements in an array using the count() function, the result is a bit puzzling to me, considere the following example. Assume that the user ID provided is wrong, and therefore had no matches, wouldnt then the result of the count function be 0? yet it is 1. can you explain to me why? thanks $q = mysql_query("select password from users where user_name = '" . $userID .     I just run into the weirdest thing I've ever encounter. Consider this test page: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head> <title></title> <script language=javascript> function test(myParameter) { alert(myParameter); } </script> </head> <body> <input type="button" value="Strange" onclick="javascript: test(044024);" /> <input type="button" value="Ok" onclick="javascript: test('044024');" /> </body> </html> If I click the "strange" button, I get 18452, if I click the "ok" button I get 044024 Does anyone know what is happening and explain it to me?

  • Strange postgresql behavior

    Hi can someone explain me why it works like this? = select client_id from clients_to_delete; ERROR: column "client_id" does not exist at character 8 but, when putting this inside an IN()... = select * from orders where client_id in(select client_id from clients_to_delete); it works! and select all rows in the orders table. Same when running delete/update. Why it doesn't produce an error like before? Thank you!

Am I right? I am confused why the increasedObject2 prints 5 and not 6. Can anyone please explain?

I quote the part in questioned: tp.PrivilegeCount = 1; tp.Privileges[0].Luid = luid; if (bEnablePrivilege) tp.Privileges[0].Attributes = SE_PRIVILEGE_ENABLED; else tp.Privileges[0].Attributes = 0; What is the meaning of zero value for Attributes member? According to the documentation of TOKEN_PRIVILEGES structure, the attributes of a privilege can be a combination of the following values: SE_PRIVILEGE_ENABLED  (it is 0x00000002L in WinNT.h) SE_PRIVILEGE_ENABLED_BY_DEFAULT  (it is 0x00000001L in WinNT.h) SE_PRIVILEGE_REMOVED  (it is 0x00000004L in WinNT.h) SE_PRIVILEGE_USED_FOR_ACCESS  (it is 0x80000000L in WinNT.h) So, we don't see any valid constant with a value of zero. I guess, the zero is equal to SE_PRIVILEGE_REMOVED. Anybody here could explain what the zero value really does?

However, it would be nice to know the actual logic behind it. Anyone care to explain?

    Do I have to create an index on columns referenced in Joins? E.g. SELECT * FROM left_table INNER JOIN right_table ON left_table.foo = right_table.bar WHERE ... Should I create indexes on left_table(foo), right_table(bar), or both? I noticed different results when I used EXPLAIN (Postgresql) with and without indexes and switching around the order of the comparison (right_table.bar = left_table.foo) I know for sure that indexes are used for the left of the WHERE clause but I am wondering whether I need indexes for columns listed in ON clauses.

  • Not sure how to use Decode, NVL, and/or isNull (or something else?) in this situation

    I have a table of orders for particular products, and a table of products that are on sale. (It's not ideal database structure, but that's out of my control.) What I want to do is outer join the order table to the sale table via product number, but I don't want to include any particular data from the sale table, I just want a Y if the join exists or N if it doesn't in the output.     I'm building a simple client-server chat system. The clients send data to the server and the server resends the data to all the other clients. I'm using the TcpListener and Network stream classes to send the data between the client and the server. The fields I need to send are, for example: name, text, timestamp, etc. I separate them using the ASCII character 29. I'm also using ASCII character 30 to mark the end of the streamed data. The data is encoded with UTF8.. Is this a good approach? Will I run into problems? Are there better methods? UPDATE: Probably my question was misunderstood, so I explain it better..     I have a method that returns an NSRange. When I call this method from outside the class I get a compile error. NSRange tmpRange; tmpRange = [phrase rangeInString:searchString forString:theLetter goingForward:YES]; return tmpRange.location == -1; in the .h file: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface Phrase : NSObject { } - (NSRange) rangeInString:(NSString *) tgt forString:(NSString *) find goingForward:(BOOL) fwd; @end This method is called within the Phrase object by other methods without problems. The compiler says 'incompatible types in assignment'. Can anyone explain this to me? I assume it has to do with returning an NSRange/struct type value generated outside the object, but I don't know why it works in one place and not the other.

  • Why is there garbage in my TCHAR, even after ZeroMemory()?

    I have inherited the following line of code: TCHAR temp[300]; GetModuleFileName(NULL, temp, 300); However, this fails as the first 3 bytes are filled with garbage values (always the same ones though, -128, -13, 23, in that order). I said, well fine and changed it to: TCHAR temp[300]; ZeroMemory(temp, 300); GetModuleFileName(NULL, temp, 300); but the garbage values persisted! Can someone explain what is going on and how to fix it?

I have a problem, will explain how to reproduce the problem: 1- login into my page (sesion variables set as $_SESSION['logged'] = true and $_SESSION['id'] = 123 2-then inside the main menu I click logout option, code like this function logout() { session_start(); $_SESSION['id'] = null; $_SESSION['logged'] = null; unset($_SESSION); session_destroy(); require_once('Views/SessionExpiredView.php'); } 3- In the session expired view I display a link the login page, there session is null 4- I click back on the browser and click ok to resend information 5- session becomes again $_SESSION['logged'] = true and $_SESSION['id'] = 123 and I'm loggued again and able to see all the information related to the id 123 This is a security issue and I don't know what is happening!!! any suggestion will be deeply appreciated.
