    Hello there, I've offered an out-of-job girl to help her study programming (with an MCSD as the ultimate goal) - and she has no progrmming knowledge. The idea is that she'll study from books and I"ll help. Help- I need a gentle introduction to programming book, very easy, very practical, very hands-on and up to date.   • What problem does NHibernate solve?

    I've seen some jobs that require nhibernate knowledge, as well as numerous questions on stack. I found another question that pointed me to Summer Of NHibernate and I am watching the videos now. However it has no introduction explaining why NHibernate was created and what problem is solves. By looking on wikipedia, I can see vaguely what it does, but to me it looks like .NET already has the entity framework which seems to do the same thing. Can anyone clarify why nhibernate exists?

    I'm looking into creating a GUI program for Windows in C++, I have a good knowledge of C++ in the command line and also in game creation. But I'm not sure where to start with GUI application development. I have Visual Studio 2010 and have created new projects with a GUI but these templates are complex and leaves me not understanding whats happening and how to modify it.     I have only little knowledge about LaTeX, basic formatting, basic math fomulae etc.. I found that LaTeX is hard to configure to my own flavor. Recently, I've heard about Docbook, which is also a typesetting mechanism, but much easier since it uses XML. So, if my main job using LaTeX/Docbook is writing a simple document (not a class book) with some mathematics, and I want easy configuration, and a highly constomizable application, which one is better, and is there any good book on Docbook?
