  • Serialize an object to string

    - by Vaccano
I have the following method to save an Object to a file: // Save an object out to the disk public static void SerializeObject<T>(this T toSerialize, String filename) { XmlSerializer xmlSerializer = new XmlSerializer(toSerialize.GetType()); TextWriter textWriter = new StreamWriter(filename); xmlSerializer.Serialize(textWriter, toSerialize); textWriter.Close(); } I confess I did not write it (I only converted it to a extension method that took a type parameter). Now I need it to give the xml back to me as a string (rather than save it to a file). I am looking into it, but I have not figured it out yet. I thought this might be really easy for someone familiar with these objects. If not I will figure it out eventually.

  • Want to make object transparent

    - by Himadri
I am working with directx. I am displaying two objects on my window. They are intersecting each other. I find the intersecting object. My problem is- I want two original objects to be transparent and the resulting intersected part to be opaque, so that the intersected part can be seen clearly. I found some question related to transparency but they are related to transparency of window. But I want the object to be transparent.

  • Symfony: Pass an object from another module to a form

    - by djcloud23
I have a symfony project and I have one model, which for this example I will name Boat. From the Boat's showSuccess page, I would like to make a link to another model's form page. For this example we will call it Ticket. When they click on the link, I would like for the Boat object to be passed to the Ticket form because I have to display some of that specific Boat's fields (title, price, etc) on the Ticket form page (newSuccess.php). I guess my question is, how do I pass an object (as a variable) to another model's "new" form page. I have looked everywhere and I can't seem to find an answer that works for me. Thank you!

  • Finding the index of a given value in a pre-sorted array

    - by bobo
Today, I went for an interview and the interviewer asked me how I would find the index of a given value (number) in a pre-sorted array like this: $preSortedArr=array(23,32,36,41,45,54); He also said that using recursion is not allowed. I think the function should look like this: function findIndexByValue($preSortedArray,$value){ //some codes here } What solution do you think he was expecting from me? EDIT: sorry, I forgot to add that, he originally asked me to write psuedo codes but I said I don't know. I tried to write in PHP, but I think he's expecting a language-independent solution.

  • VS 2010 Error “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” when adding Service Reference f

    - by Andy
I have a VS2010 (RTM) solution which contains: WCF Service project Console WCF client project Class project for DataContracts and members Class project for some simple classes I successfully added a service reference in the console client project and ran the client. I then did a long dev cycle repeatedly modifying the service then updating console service reference. I then changed the namespace and assembly names for the projects as well as the .cs using references and app.config. I of course missed some things as it would not build so I eventually removed the project references and the service reference, cleaned and built successfully. I then attempted to add the service reference again, it discovered it but threw the “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” when OK'ing. Fix in answer below...

  • Passing values for multi-value parameter in SSRS query string

    - by Andy Xufuris
I have two reports built using SSRS 2005. The first report is set to navigate to the second when a specific field is clicked. There is a multi-value parameter on the second report. I need to pass multiple values for this parameter in the URL query string when calling this report. Is there a way to pass multiple values for a parameter in the query string of a report? Or can you pass a parameter that will cause the Select All value to be selected?

  • rspec mocking object property assignment

    - by charlielee
I have a rspec mocked object, a value is assign to is property. I am struggleing to have that expectation met in my rspec test. Just wondering what the sytax is? The code: def create @new_campaign = AdCampaign.new(params[:new_campaign]) @new_campaign.creationDate = "#{Time.now.year}/#{Time.now.mon}/#{Time.now.day}" if @new_campaign.save flash[:status] = "Success" else flash[:status] = "Failed" end end The test it "should able to create new campaign when form is submitted" do campaign_model = mock_model(AdCampaign) AdCampaign.should_receive(:new).with(params[:new_campaign]).and_return(campaign_model) campaign_model.should_receive(:creationDate).with("#{Time.now.year}/#{Time.now.mon}/#{Time.now.day}")campaign_model.should_receive(:save).and_return(true) post :create flash[:status].should == 'Success' response.should render_template('create') end The problem is I am getting this error: Spec::Mocks::MockExpectationError in 'CampaignController new campaigns should able to create new campaign when form is submitted' Mock "AdCampaign_1002" received unexpected message :creationDate= with ("2010/5/7") So how do i set a expectation for object property assignment? Thanks

  • Clearing a default value in a search box with jQuery

    - by james6848
Hi, Can't seem to achieve this simple functionality! All I want is to clear a default search term in an input box when it is clicked. The following works up to a point but clears any other text entered, I would've thought resetting search_form_text should have solved this: search_form_text = $('#block-search-0 #edit-search-block-form-l').attr('value'); if (search_form_text == 'Enter search keywords here') { $('#block-search-0 #edit-search-block-form-l').click(function() { $('#block-search-0 #edit-search-block-form-l').attr('value', ''); search_form_text = ''; }); } Hmmmm... :)

  • Include most recent non empty column value in filter

    - by Domenic
If my data looks like this: Category Sub Category 1 a b 2 c d Which shows that there are two categories: "1", which has sub categories "a" and "b", and "2", which has sub categories "c" and "d". What can I do in excel (for filtering/sorting) to keep rows 1 and 2 together as category "1", instead of the first row as category "1", and the second as category ""? I'm trying to avoid having to do this: Category Sub Category 1 a 1 b 2 c 2 d

  • Iterating Through a jQuery Object Array

    - by DeltaFox
I know this has been asked and answered a couple times already, but I'm still confused about how to reference the current object when iterating over a jQuery array. For example, the following code gives me the error "TypeError: genH3Array[i].next is not a function". What is the right way to reference the current array object? var genH3Array = $('#Generation_II').parent(); genH3Array.push($('#Generation_III').parent());; genH3Array.push($('#Generation_IV').parent()) $.each(genH3Array, function(i, value) { if(genH3Array[i].next().attr("align") == "center") { genH3Array[i].next().next().next().insertBefore(heading.next()) } genH3Array[i].next().next().insertBefore(heading.next()) genH3Array[i].next().insertBefore(heading.next()) })

  • Passing object through WCF so that server receives client changes

    - by cvig
I would like to set up a WCF service so that any changes a client makes to an object I send them are also reflected on the server side. For example, if Assembly A has the following... namespace AssemblyA { public class Person { public string FirstName { get; set; } public string LastName { get; set; } } [ServiceContract] public interface IServer { [OperationContract] Person GetPerson(); } } And Assembly B references Assembly A... using AssemblyA; namespace AssemblyB { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { <snip> IServer server = factory.CreateChannel(); Person person = server.GetPerson(); person.FirstName = "Kilroy"; person.LastName = "WuzHere"; } } } What is the easiest/best way to make it so that the service's copy of the Person object also reflects the changes that the client makes? Is this even possible?

  • Object initialization sequence in Objective-C

    - by Alex
Hello everyone. The Cocoa framework has a convention to always call self = [super init] in the init method of an inherited class, because [super init] may return a new instance. What will happen if I do this? @interface MyClass : NSObject /* or any other class */ { int ivar_; } @end @implementation MyClass - (id)init { ivar_ = 12345; if ((self = [super init])) { NSLog(@"ivar_'s value is %d", ivar_); } return self; } @end In the case when [super init] returns a new instance, what will I see in the console? ivar_'s value is 0? I can't think of a way to check this myself, because I don't know which class may return a new instance from its init method. Also, can't seem to find explicit clarification for this scenario in the docs. Could anyone help me out? Thanks!

  • Getting hold of a reference to the object created by JOptionPane static methods

    - by user548240
Hi, I wonder if it is possible to get hold of a reference to the (JDialog?) object created by one of those static methods of JOptionPane (e.g. showMessageDialog)? I intend to modify the position where the dialog appears on the screen. More specifically, I want the dialog to appear at the top-left corner of the main app window, instead of the centre of the window by default. So having a reference to the object would enable me to use setLocation to achieve the desired effect... Any suggestion would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • php Checking if value exists in array of array

    - by Mark
I have an array within an array. $a = array ( 0 => array ( 'value' => 'America', ), 1 => array ( 'value' => 'England', ), ) How do I check if 'America' exists in the array? The America array could be any key, and there could be any number of subarrays, so a generalized solution please. Looking on the php manual I see in_array, but that only works for the top layer. so something like in_array("America", $a) would not work. Thanks.

  • Should I dispose GDI+ object before its creation?

    - by serhio
    Should I dispose GDI+ object before its creation? Is recommended to always Dispose GDI+ object after using it. by e.g. Pen p = new Pen(Color.Green); // use 'p' p.Dispose(); now, if I have this situation: Pen p = new Pen(Color.Green); // use green 'p' p = new Pen(Color.Red); // Should I Dispose my 'p' first? // use red 'p' p.Dispose();

  • PHP: Accessing an object property with a variable.

    - by Peter
Let's assume I have an array of object properties I'd like to access: $properties = array('foo', 'bar'); I'd like to loop through the object and access these properties dynamically (specifically, I'm trying to dynamically handle missing JSON elements based on an array of expected elements): foreach ($data as $item) { foreach ($properties as $property) { if (empty($item->{$property})) { // Do something } } } Each $item in $data should have the properties 'foo' and 'bar'. If empty(), I'll handle them. I'm trying to get the loop (in line 3) to access $item-{'foo'} and $item-{'bar'}, but it's not working. Any idea why? Thanks!

  • Access variable value using string representing variable's name

    - by Paul Ridgway
Hello everyone, If the title was not clear, I will try to clarify what I am asking: Imagine I have a variable called counter, I know I can see its current value by doing something like: std::cout << counter << std::endl; However, assume I have lots of variables and I don't know which I'm going to want to look at until runtime. Does anyone know a way I can fetch the value of a variable by using its name, for example: std::cout << valueOf("counter") << std::endl; I feel being able to do this might make debugging large complex projects easier. Thanks in advance for your time.

  • Object viewer control needed (like QuickWatch in VS)

    - by Wallstreet Programmer
Anyone know of any controls that you can add to your application to allow the user to check out the content of an object? I'm thinking of something like QuickWatch in Visual Studio, just list all properties of an object and its values and allow the user to drill down. I started writing one using reflection but it turned out be a lot of work to handle different kind of collections. This functionality would be used for debugging purposes mostly and not by regular users. I prefer WPF but Winforms would work as well.
