  • Using NetBeans for multiple programming languages

    I am looking for a cross platform RAD IDE with GUI building. NetBeans looks right (or am aI wrong?). However, I may want to code somethings in C++ and some in Python. It looks like both are supported, but I am not sure if I need to install two copies of NetBeans or if one can handle both programming languages. Being arr the array, I used just to write: puts arr Then I needed to use the DOS format end-of-line: \r\n, so I wrote: arr.each { |e| print "#{e}\r\n" } This works correctly, but I would like to know if there is a way to specify what end-of-line format to use so that I could write something like: $eol = "\r\n" puts arr UPDATE I know that puts will use the correct line-endings depending on the platform it is run on, but I need this because I will write the output to a file.

  • Installer only installs to root on x64 systems

    My MSI installer created with Visual Studio 2008 refuses to install the app in the designated directory and instead will only install the app in the root directory. If I take the same MSI and install in on an x86 system the installer installs the app in the directory specified. I am developing the app and MSI on Server 2008 and Win7 RC x64 (Hyper-V). I see the same results on either development platform. Thanks in advance!

My questions are: Will this execution order be different when I porting my program to different compiler (gcc or armcc), or different platform? What stuff does Standard C Library initialization do? So far I know setlocale() is a must. Is it safe to call standard C functions inside C++ constructor of global variables?
