  • How to layout application icons in the panel?

    Hello everybody, Application and applets icons are changing their position or even disappears from the gnome-panel (see an example). It often happens after connecting to external monitor with different resolution setting, or sometimes happens by chance (I don't know what is the reason of such behaviour). Some icons I can move, others I can't. I don't know if they're locked or not. My question is: Is there any settings/software for icon's position control in the panel? I noticed that locking does not resolve this issue. Thank you for support.

  • How to install correctly another Linux flavour (in my case PCLinuxOS) together with installed Ubuntu 10.10 ?

    Hello everybody and Prosperous and Productive Year 2011 !!! I have Ubuntu 10.10 (32bit) installed on my laptop. I would like to install PCLinuxOS (KDE or LXDE version, I don't know yet) on the same computer across with Ubuntu 10.10. I would like to test 'in real conditions' a new PCLinuxOS as well as to resolve my question regarding Audio CD playback issue (mounting DBus timeout error). I would be grateful if somebody can advise me how to perform the installation of another Linux flavour without breakdown :) of existing Ubuntu system ?   • vsFTPd and iptables - how to configure them in CentOS 5.5?

    I've installed vsFTPd in CentOS 5.5, on TWO servers, and added this rule to their iptable-s: -A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT Looks like this is not enough, since when I'm trying to upload a file from one server to another, I'm getting this result (IP address is masked): # ftp 99.99.99.99 Connected to …com (99.99.99.99). 220 (vsFTPd 2.0.5) Name (99.99.99.99:root): vinny 331 Please specify the password. Password: 230 Login successful. Remote system type is UNIX. Using binary mode to transfer files. ftp> ls 227 Entering Passive Mode (99,99,99,99,107,74) ftp: connect: No route to host I've found a few articles in the net about the second rule I have to add to iptables, but I didn't find the right syntax for it. Could you please help?

  • Maven2 compiles my tests, but doesn't run them

    I have a simple Maven2 project with tests written for TestNG. When I say mvn test Maven2 compiles my test, but don't run them. I already checked this page: http://maven.apache.org/general.html#test-property-name. This is not my case. Anybody can help?   • How should I compile boost library in a small project?

    I have a small project where I need just part of boost library, boost::regex in particular. This is what I've done so far: /include /boost /regex /math .. 189 dirs, files, etc. /lib /boost-regex c_regex_traits.cpp cpp_regex_traits.cpp .. ~20 .cpp files myprog.cpp In my Makefile I compile all boost-regex .cpp files one by one, producing .obj files. Next, I'm building my project by means of compiling myprog.cpp together with all that .obj files from /lib/boost/regex. The question is whether I'm doing everything correct? The size of my output file is rather big (~3.5Mb), while my code is extremely small (10 lines).
