Following months of testing and a long history of security vulnerabilities with its popular Reader and Acrobat products, Adobe is planning to debut its new software update system next week.
This question is for all the professionals who have been in IT industry from long time.
I have 4 years of experience in QA (manual testing) from a MNC located in India.
I have been thinking about pursuing software developers job so I applied for some companies as a fresher and one company offered me to take as entry-level engineer.
But my present company does not want to loose me and they are offering me an on-site opportunity?
So which one should i go for Programmer job or on-site (QA) in terms of long term perspective?
Thanks to Phoronix there seems to be a fix for the power regression/overheating bug in the Linux Kernel 3.0.1 bouncing around on the Internet. However this supposed fix which I read has been patched to the Kernel in a testing phase is not newbie-friendly (if you know what I mean). So I am guessing it will be included in the kernel update for 11.10. If it will please when is it due?
Linked Question:
Kernel patch that solves battery issues when for ubuntu ?
it seems /usr/src (apparently old kernels) used up all my inodes
Dateisystem Inodes IBenutzt IFrei IUse% Eingehängt auf
/dev/sda4 489600 489600 0 100% /
devtmpfs 219658 539 219119 1% /dev
none 219844 474 219370 1% /run
none 219844 3 219841 1% /run/lock
none 219844 8 219836 1% /run/shm
/dev/sda6 5963776 8361 5955415 1% /home
tried everything to remove/purge etc. the old kernels, without success..
dpkg is not working anymore, tried a few manual commands but 12.04 gives me nothing. apt-get etc. is not possible due to lack of space on the hard drive...which is not the problem obviously. however cannot install/ remove anything!
read a lot about users with the same problem, but their solutions are not working for me.
Anyone out there who could help? thanks a lot!
ok, I have a few questions regarding mysql.
I am currently running ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS command line version.
I am looking for a database that I can use. I am confused at this point because I am uninformed.
mysql is just one database that is on the server? or can it contain several or many databases
What programs do I use to access it on the server or is it a vt-100 type access?
I understand that mysql comes with lamp? or ubuntu. I am thinking that it is already installed but not sure how to access it, but that is another question for later.
Outside of the man pages and the ubuntu manual, is there a site for its setup and use?
Thanks!
I am using Natty with with classic GNOME desktop.
I use Empathy and sometimes Skype.
Both these get the online state from the system itself somehow.
If I don't touch my keyboard for a few minutes - even when watching a YouTube clip or something - the inactivity triggers an auto-away state on my messaging apps.
It's synchronized so I imagine its coming coordinated from the system, and not the two apps making the same decision individually.
How can I disable this? I want manual control - I'm only away when I set it to away in a messaging app.
We have four of us using the same PC with an account each. Recently noticed that the other 3 had smaller fonts than usual and the fonts for the log-in screen were smaller too. My account seems unaffected. I wonder if I might have done a manual change on my fonts at some point, but don't remember doing it.
What would have changed this and where is it set?
Still using Kubuntu 10.04. Just not got around to upgrading.
The default behavior in the Nexus 7 Image is to log straight in to the default user's desktop, bypassing the lightdm greeter. This seems like an acceptable behavior for testing the core but it's clearly insecure.
I've changed the default password and would like lightdm to actually require the password to be entered, rather than just having a button that says "login". I've turned automatic login on and off in System Settings ? User Accounts but this doesn't help.
Any suggestions?
I'm looking for sites similar to jsdo.it and jsfiddle.net.
I really like jsdo.it, as it provides a nice editor and the ability to fork, but I really can't stand the usability as it really gets to be a pain to use after a while.
I also like jsfiddle.net, but it too has some usability issues and the URL for your fiddle changes every time you save.
Are there any other good alternatives for in-browser HTML testing and development?
I have a 12 year old BC45 compiled 32 bit GUI utility that fails to load on XP and 2003 with a GPF. Worked find under 95, NT, 2000 and didn't expect anything to be different for other OSes. But it was reported this week and looking at our support logs, there were other reports last year on this as well. Testing it on XP and 2003 confirms this. I think it is related to either comctl32.dll, comdlg32...
If you are trouble-shooting an AlwaysOn Availability Group topology, a study of the wait statistics will give a pointer to many of the causes of problems. Although several wait types are documented, there is nothing like practical experiment to familiarize yourself with new wait stats, and Joe Sack demonstrates a way of testing the sort of waits generated by an availability group under various circumstances.
My colleague uses the Binary Calculator functions in bandwidth calculations; as much as terrabytes, and with percentage splitting on allocation. His usage of these functions appears correct in order not to lose a byte; although he seems to be using them now for everything.
The manual only says:
For arbitrary precision mathematics PHP offers the Binary Calculator which supports numbers of any size and precision, represented as strings.
How much is any size? Is it really necessary? How big is the default float in PHP? Are there any good advice regarding this or things to keep in mind?
I'm a "newbie" to Ubuntu, but I've been wrestling with this problem for several hours and don't seem to be able to solve it: When I set the time in Windows (Indianapolis, Eastern U.S. time zone) and then re-boot to Ubuntu, the computer time goes to Hawaiian time.
When the time is set in Ubuntu, and the computer is rebooted to Windows the time is advanced by 5 hours.
I've set the time in the BIOS, and it seems to make no difference. I've tried setting the time from "automatic" to "manual", all with the same result.
Not a big problem, but it shows some underlying glitch.
Could anyone explain?
Gurock Software just announced version 1.3 of its test management software TestRail. TestRail is a web-based test case management software that helps software development teams and QA departments to efficiently manage, track and organize their software testing efforts.
My company is a broker in the real estate industry. As such, we send a lot of our listings to sites like Trulia.com and Zillow.com, among others. These sites direct leads to our realtors, and provide us with reports every month detailing the activity our listings have had on their site-- links back to our website, emails generated, etc.
Our Marketing and Advertising departments want to take that information and enter it into a system to keep track of everything in one place, for the purpose of producing comparison reports.
I cannot find any externally available product that provides this functionality. I would sincerely like to avoid writing this tool myself. Does anyone know of a tool that could do this?
In short, an ideal system would:
Imports Google Analytics data via API
Imports real estate listing site data via CSV import / manual entry
Provides comparison reports based on data
Does anyone know of anything pre-made that can do this?

I updated the GNOME Shell by these points:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ricotz/testing
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
Unfortunately, no longer work themes and extensions.

How can I fix it (or return to the previous version)?
Regards and I hope to help.
Edit:
I noticed that I can not update gnome-shell-extension-common
What we're looking for instead is an open source, preferably Web-based email marketing campaign that will give us the ability to create, send , track your bulk emails using creatively-designed templates to promote your business happenings, events, discounts and etc.
It can keep in contact with subscribers. It includes over 100 templates, bounce management, basic data tracking, A/B testing, and more.
Any effective recommendation?
What do you use as your main operating system for developing software (you might use another for testing, gaming, entertainment etc.), and most importantly, why?
To speak for myself, I use Ubuntu and Kubuntu (it varies between those two Linux distributions), because it is easy to get stuff done with, has all the development tools I need, is fast, stable and safe. And I think I would never make it without the UNIX utilities anymore.

Many of our new clients come to us thinking they need a new website, when in fact what they need to start with is a little search engine optimization. Before you spend thousands on a brand new website design, why not spend one hour testing your current site's SEO?
<b>Netstat -vat:</b> "Yes, Riverbed in some ways leverages open source and also contributes some testing components back. One of their bigger open source projects is something that internally carries the codename of 'Flamebox'."
Ask yourself a question. Do you want to experiment for months spending countless number of hours in front of the computer to see which method works and which doesn't or you just want to get a link building service from a professional SEP Company who did all the testing already and knows what works?
