  • OpenMP timer doesn't work on inline assembly code?

    - by Brett
I'm trying to compare some code samples for speed, and I decided to use the OpenMP timer since I'll eventually be multi threading the code. The timer works great on two of my four code snippets, but not on the other two start=omp_get_wtime(); /*code here*/ finish = omp_get_wtime() - start_time; The four code here sections are serial code, xmmintrin.h code, and two inline assembly codes. The serial and xmminstrin.h code are able to be timed, but the inline assembly codes returns -1.#IND00 for a time. I can't seem to figure out why this is? Thanks for any help or suggestions!

  • What is the role/responsibility of a 'shell'?

    - by Rune
Hi, I have been looking at the source code of the IronPython project and the Orchard CMS project. IronPython operates with a namespace called Microsoft.Scripting.Hosting.Shell (part of the DLR). The Orchard Project also operates with the concept of a 'shell' indirectly in various interfaces (IShellContainerFactory, IShellSettings). None of the projects mentioned above have elaborate documentation, so picking up the meaning of a type (class etc.) from its name is pretty valuable if you are trying to figure out the overall application structure/architecture by reading the source code. Now I am wondering: what do the authors of this source code have in mind when they refer to a 'shell'? When I hear the word 'shell', I think of something like a command line interpreter. This makes sense for IronPython, since it has an interactive interpreter. But to me, it doesn't make much sense with respect to a Web CMS. What should I think of, when I encounter something called a 'shell'? What is, in general terms, the role and responsibility of a 'shell'? Can that question even be answered? Is the meaning of 'shell' subjective (making the term useless)? Thanks.

  • Struts2: Reading from database and populating JSP with results

    - by teehoo
For a school project I am creating a simple search engine (using Struts2), where I read from a database, and redirect the user to a new page that shows the results. my struts.xml file is as follows: <action name="searchRooms" class="cz.vutbr.fit.Search" method="execute"> <result name="success">/pages/showSearchResults.jsp</result> <result name="input">/pages/search.jsp</result> </action> I have no idea what to search on Google to achieve this. I'm looking for a simple answer or some keywords to use for searching on Google.

  • SIMPLE file reading in Perl

    - by Befall
Hey guys, The other answered questions were a bit complicated for me, as I'm extremely new to using Perl. I'm curious how Perl reads in the files, how to tell it to advance to the next line in the text file, and how to make it read all lines in the .txt file until, for example, it reaches item "banana". Any and all help would be appreciated, thanks!

  • Reading and writing to app.config file in C#

    - by Indigo Praveen
I have some of the values saved in app.config file, I want to create a WinForms application which shows all the AppSettings values in a Form. In the form user can change the settings values, after making changes the user can press the Save button and on this I want to save all the values back to the app.config file. Is there any way to do that in C#?

  • Reading from an embedded resource stream

    - by shadeMe
I've been trying to access an image resource named "IndexPointer.jpg" in an embedded RESX file called "Images.resx". GetManifestResourceNames() returns a single value - SCtor.Images.resources". Assembly::GetExecutingAssembly()-GetManifestResourceStream("SCtor.Images.resources.IndexPointer.jpg") only returns a nullptr. Obviously, I've got the manifest name wrong. What would be the correct one ?

  • Reading ASCII numbers using "D" instead of "E" for scientific notation using C

    - by Arrieta
Hello, I have a list of numbers which looks like this: 1.234D+1 or 1.234D-02. I want to read the file using C. The function atof will merely ignore the D and translate only the mantissa. The function fscanf will not accept the format '%10.6e' because it expects an E instead of a D in the exponent. When I ran into this problem in Python, I have up and merely used a string substitution before converting from string to float. But in C, I am sure there must be another way. So, how would you read a file with numbers using D instead of E for scientific notation? Notice that I do not mean how to read the strings themselves, but rather how to convert them to floats. Thanks.

  • Python File Meta Tag reading

    - by Jeff
Anyone know of a Python module that can pull Tag data from multiple media formats? Trying to build an app that allows for manipulation of ASF (Windows Media Player files, ie WMA, WMV, etc), ID3, including both ID3v1 and ID3v2 (MPEG files, ie MP3), MPEG Audio Bit Stream (ie ABS, MP1, MP2, MP3), MPEG Program Stream (MPEG movies, and DVD and HD DVD video discs, ie MPG, MPEG, VOB, EVO), and ISO Base Media File Format (eg QuickTime, MPEG-4 and iTunes AAC files, ie QT, MOV, MP4, M4A, M4B, M4P, M4V, etc). Don't need ALL of that but just most standard consumer formats like mov and mpeg. I can't seem to find a good module to support that or a library. Any recommendations?

  • Reading iTunesMovies file in iPhone?

    - by raziiq
Hi there. In iPhone, the iPod app saves the media files (audio, video) with strange names and in weird folders (F00,F01 etc). There is a file named iTunesMovies in iPhone, which contains all the information about the metadata of those video files and how they are to be displayed in iPod app. I copied that to my Mac also, and when i tried to open that file in textEdit, it showed some alien characters which made me believe that it is encrypted may be(Thats just a wild guess). I want to read/change the contents of that iTunesMovies file. Can i do that? Is there any Framework which deals with that iTunesMovies file? Thanks in advance

  • Reading UTF-8 XML and writing it to a file with Python

    - by Harri
I'm trying to parse UTF-8 XML file and save some parts of it to another file. Problem is, that this is my first Python script ever and I'm totally confused about the character encoding problems I'm finding. My script fails immediately when it tries to write non-ascii character to a file, but it can print it to command prompt (at least in some level) Here's the XML (from the parts that matter at least, it's a *.resx file which contains UI strings) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <root> <resheader name="foo"> <value>bar</value> </resheader> <data name="lorem" xml:space="preserve"> <value>ipsum öä</value> </data> </root> And here's my python script from xml.dom.minidom import parse names = [] values = [] def getStrings(path): dom = parse(path) data = dom.getElementsByTagName("data") for i in range(len(data)): name = data[i].getAttribute("name") names.append(name) value = data[i].getElementsByTagName("value") values.append(value[0].firstChild.nodeValue.encode("utf-8")) def writeToFile(): with open("uiStrings-fi.py", "w") as f: for i in range(len(names)): line = names[i] + '="'+ values[i] + '"' #varName='varValue' f.write(line) f.write("\n") getStrings("ResourceFile.fi-FI.resx") writeToFile() And here's the traceback: Traceback (most recent call last): File "GenerateLanguageFiles.py", line 24, in writeToFile() File "GenerateLanguageFiles.py", line 19, in writeToFile line = names[i] + '="'+ values[i] + '"' #varName='varValue' UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc3 in position 2: ordinal not in ran ge(128) How should I fix my script so it would read and write UTF-8 characters properly? The files I'm trying to generate would be used in test automation with Robots Framework.

  • Reading Active Directory group users in SharePoint

    - by Faiz
Hi, Say that i have an active directory group called "Group1". I add this Group1 to a SharePoint site ( People and Group New User). All the users that are part of Group1 can now access sharepoint site. Now,for a specific custom webpart, i need to target to only users who belong to Group1. But when a user who belongs to Group1 logs into the sharepoint site, i am not finding a way to determine from within SharePoint context if this user belongs to Group1. Any thoughts? Thanks, Faiz

  • Binding UpdateSourceTrigger=Explicit, updates source at program startup

    - by GTD
    I have following code: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication1.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Grid> <TextBox Text="{Binding Path=Name, Mode=OneWayToSource, UpdateSourceTrigger=Explicit, FallbackValue=default text}" KeyUp="TextBox_KeyUp" x:Name="textBox1"/> </Grid> public partial class Window1 : Window { public Window1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void TextBox_KeyUp(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (e.Key == Key.Enter) { BindingExpression exp = this.textBox1.GetBindingExpression(TextBox.TextProperty); exp.UpdateSource(); } } } public class ViewModel { public string Name { set { Debug.WriteLine("setting name: " + value); } } } public partial class App : Application { protected override void OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e) { base.OnStartup(e); Window1 window = new Window1(); window.DataContext = new ViewModel(); window.Show(); } } I want to update source only when "Enter" key is pressed in textbox. This works fine. However binding updates source at program startup. How can I avoid this? Am I missing something?

  • iPhone Options for reading item from XML?

    - by fuzzygoat
I am accessing this data from a web server using NSURL, what I am trying to decide is should I read this as XML or should I just use NSScanner and rip out the [data] bit I need. I have looked around the web for examples of extracting fields from XML on the iPhone but it all seems a bit overkill for what I need. Can anyone make any suggestions or point me in the right direction. In an ideal world I would really like to just specify [data] and get a string back "2046 3433 5674 3422 4456 8990 1200 5284" <!DOCTYPE tubinerotationdata> <turbine version="1.0"> <status version="1.0" result="200">OK</status> <data version="1.0"> 2046 3433 5674 3422 4456 8990 1200 5284 </data> </turbine> any comments / ideas are much appreciated. gary
