  • How to correctly handle click events on Widget

    There is a task to make smt like todo list on widget (with dinamic number of elements), how to organize this list for click support on this elements. I only found how add click event on one widget layout element (with setOnClickPendingIntent), and how send text to widget element TextView. But it's unclear how handle click events for sub-elemets, or how get click coordinates(or item) where was click event. I saw widget "Agenda widget" - and it work fine with clicking on different calendar rows. I will be very much appreciated for help.

    In my program I have used an alert dialog box on onclick event. But after running my program on event onclick the alert dialog box opens and allows filling information in it. and then on click of ok button alert dialog if condition is matched than data will be submitted and intent will pass otherwise in toast msg it will show something like enter correct password or loginid etc. but when on second click of button on which I have set alertdialogbox the thread msg will appear and it will close the program so what is the solution for this.     I have a table which is built dynamically based on how much data is present, if at all. I want to be able to long press anywhere on a the table row to be able to get some options to delete or edit etc. Is this possible? Remember I need to do all this without setting any XML as its dynamically built.   • Anyone know how you can get a Google dev phone to make Android apps?

    Hi there, I am thinking about converting my web apps into Android apps to reach the Android market. I do not have an Android phone. Can someone tell me how I can possibly get a Google developer phone (other than going to Google I/O, etc)? I realize this is somewhat of a ridiculous request but I have read blogs of people being enticed by google and offered a free phone to convert their web apps into Android apps. So I figure there is no harm in asking. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks I am also wondering what the cost of the developer phone is once you pay your $25 to enter the android market place as a developer through the developer account.

    I need a small clarification about streamInsight, I know by doc's that StreamInsight can handle multiple concurrent Events. But will the event producer be a separate function, for ex: I need to watch a folder for new Files becoz all my sensors il write readings every day in a new file in particular drive. Method 1: FileSystemWatcher: These is the traditional approach where we write a service using FileSystemWatcher to watch a folder for new files,etc.. Upon receiving event from FileSystemWatcher il perform some operations on these files. How to do these using streamInsight??? I came know that using IObservable i can push events to StreamInsight. But is there anything to watch folder is sreamInsight like FileSystemWatcher. OR In order to raise events to streamInsight do we need to use FileSystemWacther? This is the first Teched that am attending. The event was really fun filled with lot of knowledge sharing sessions and lots of goodies and gifts by the partners Initially the Event Started by Murthy's Session. He explained about the Developers relating to the 5 elements of nature (Pancha Boothaas) 1. Fire - Passion 2. Wave (Water) - Catch the right wave which we need to apply. 3. Earth - Connections and lots of opportunities around the world 4. Air -  Its whatever we breathe. Developers.. Without them nothing is possible. they are like the air 5. Sky - Cloud based applications   Next the Keynote and the announcement of Visual Studio by SomaSegar. List of things that he delivered his speech on : 1. Announcement of Visual Studio 2010 2. Announcement of .NET 4.0 3. Announcement of Silverlight later this week 4. What is the current Trend? Microsoft has done a research with many developers across the globe and have got the following feedback from the users. Get Lost (interrupted) - When we do some work and somebody is calling or interrepting by someother way we lose track of what we were doing and we need to do from the start Falling Behind- Technology gets updated  phenomenally over a period of time and developers always have a scenario like they are not in the state of the art technology and they always have a doubt whether they are staying updated. Lack of Collobaration - When a Manager asks a person what the team members have done and some might be done and some might not be and finally all are into a state like we dont know where we are. So they have addressed these 3 points in the VS 2010 by the following features : Get Lost - Some cool features which could overcome this. We have some Graphical interface. which could show what we have done and where we are. Some Zoom features in the code level. Falling Behind - Everything is based on .NET language base. 2010 has been built in such a way that if developers know the native language that's enough for building good applications. Lack of Collobaration - Some Dashboard Features which would show where exactly the project is. And a graphical user interface is shown on clicking which it directly drills down even to the code level. 5. An overview on all new features in VS 2010. 6. Some good demos of new features in VS 2010 by Polita and one more girl. Some of the new features included : 1. Team Explorer 2. Zoom in Code 3. Ribbon Development 4. Development in Single Platform for Windows Phone, XBox, Zune, Azure, Web Based and Windows based applications 5. Sequence Diagram Generation directly from code 6. Dashboards to show project status 7. At last in the closing of the day we had a great event called Demo Extravaganza, where lot of cool projects that were launched by Microsoft and also the projects that are under research were also shown. I got a lot of info about Bing today. BING really rocks!!! It has the following : 1. Visual Search 2. Product based search. For each product different menu filters were provided to make an advanced search 3. BING Maps was awesome!! It zoomed in to the street level and we can assume that we are the persons who are walking or running on the road and we can see the real objects like buildings moving by our side. 4. PhotoSynth was used in BING to show up all the images taken around the globe in a 3D format. 5. Formula - If we give some formula it automatically gives the value for the variable or derivation of expression Also some info about some kool touch apps which does an authentication and computation of Teched Attendee's Points that they have scored and the sessions attended. One guy won an XBOX in lucky draw as a gift.     I'm honored to announce that I'll be speaking at AnDevCon in March, 2011 in San Francisco.  I've been spending a significant amount of time on iPhone and Android.  I'm trying to get a startup off the ground.  Mobile devices will be an integral part of this startup.  As such, iPhone and Android will be our target devices at this point in time.  I'll be doing an all day pre-class as well as parts of the pre-class as sessions through out the conference.  I'm looking forward to this.  If you are interested in Android Development, please come to this conference.  If you are coming to this conference, please look me up while there.

  • Android: debug certificate expired error

    I started up Eclipse today, created a new project, and immediately had an error before I had changed a single line: Error generating final archive: Debug Certificate expired on 11/12/11 When installed, the Android SDK generates a "debug" signing certificate for you in a file called "debug.keystore". Eclipse uses this certificate rather than forcing you to create a new one for every project. In older versions of Eclipse, the certificate was only valid for 365 days, but as I understand it the default has been changed to 30 years in newer versions. If for whatever reason you don't want to upgrade Eclipse, you can manually delete the certificate to for Eclipse to generate a new one. You can find the location in Preferences -> Android -> Build -> Default debug keystore (mine was in C:\Users\myUserName\.android\); just delete the "debug.keystore" file, then go back into Eclipse and Clean the project to generate a new file.
