  • UIImagePickerController Crash after 5 to 7 pictures - again

    - by Sophtware
OK, I know this one has been beaten to death on this forum, but I'm still having the memory problem and I have tried all the techniques on the web to get around this. I have an application that uses the UIImagePickerController to capture an image from the camera. I've tried both creating and destroying the controller for each picture, and keeping it around for the life of the app. Both are failing. The first way crashes the phone almost immediately. While the second, leaving the controller around, crashes the app after about 5 to 7 pictures. My original app used an undocumented API to get around this issue, but Apple rejected it because of this. I really need to get my app to the store. Does anyone have code showing how they got around the issue? I know there is a way because there are apps on the store using the camera, but I just can't seem to get it. Any help is greatly appreciated! I can post my code here too, if needed.

Hi I have a class DataObject as Header ::: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface DataObject : NSObject { NSString *erorrMessage; BOOL hasError; NSDictionary *dataValues; } @property(nonatomic, retain)NSString *erorrMessage; @property(nonatomic)BOOL hasError; @property(nonatomic, retain)NSDictionary *dataValues; @end Class Implementation:::: #import "DataObject.h" @implementation DataObject @synthesize erorrMessage; @synthesize hasError; @synthesize dataValues; @end And I have another class as DataManager Header as :::: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface DataManager : NSObject - (DataObject *)getData :(NSString*)url; @end Implementation :::: #import "DataManager.h" #import "DataObject.h" #import "JSON.h" @implementation DataManager - (DataObject *)getData :(NSString*)url{ DataObject* dataObject = [[DataObject alloc]init]; NSString *urlString = [NSString stringWithFormat:url]; NSURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:urlString]]; //TODO: Here we have to check the internet connection before requesting. NSError * erorrOnRequesting; NSData *data = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:nil error:&erorrOnRequesting]; NSString* responseString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; if( erorrOnRequesting != nil) { dataObject.hasError = YES; dataObject.erorrMessage = @"Error on requsting to the web server"; return dataObject; } NSError *errorOnParsing; SBJSON *json = [[SBJSON new] autorelease]; NSDictionary *dataValues = [json objectWithString:responseString error:&errorOnParsing]; [responseString release]; if(errorOnParsing != nil) { //TODO: We have to send the website a feedback that there is some problem on the server end. dataObject.hasError = YES; dataObject.erorrMessage = @"Error on parsing, the server returned invalid data."; return dataObject; } dataObject.hasError = NO; dataObject.dataValues = dataValues; return dataObject; } @end Now when I build I got an error in the DataManager header where I #import Dataobject header, it says "error: expected')' before DataObject" I don;t understand what I miss. Thanks for the help..

  • NSManagedObject How To Reload

    - by crissag
I have a view that consists of a table of existing objects and an Add button, which allows the user to create a new object. When the user presses Add, the object is created in the list view controller, so that the object will be part of that managed object context (via the NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName: method). The Add view has a property for the managed object. In the list view controller, I create an Add view controller, set the property to the managed object I created, and then push the Add view on to the navigation stack. In the Add view, I have two buttons for save and cancel. In the save, I save the managed object and pass the managed object back to the list view controller via a delegate method. If the user cancels, then I delete the object and pass nil back to the list view controller. The complication I am having in the add view is related to a UIImagePickerController. In the Add view, I have a button which allows the user to take a photo of the object (or use an existing photo from the photo library). However, the process of transferring to the UIImagePickerController and having the user use the camera, is resulting in a didReceiveMemoryWarning in the add view controller. Further, the view was unloaded, which also caused my NSManagedObject to get clobbered. My question is, how to you go about reloading the NSManagedObject in the case where it was released because of the low memory situation?

  • Is "self" necessary?

    - by Rob
Is using "self" ever necessary in Objective-C or maybe just a good practice? I have gone from using it all the time to not using it at all and I don't seem to really notice any difference. Isn't it just implied anyway?

  • Detailstext in TableView from Coredata Iphone

    - by user554867
Hey, that is my first question here at stackoverflow. Let me try to be specific as I can. The project is as follows: I am trying to parse an xml file in an iphone app, which works already. I am saving the parsed data into the CoreData of the Iphone. So far so good: I have two elements of the xml file which I want to show in the tableview as the text and the detailtext. Now the strange behaviour occurs: If I take the data of the Core Data and trying to visualize them in the tableview, then both elements are displayed in seperate cells and not as detailtext of the element. If I am just taking a constant string for the detailtext, then it works, but if I am trying to take for every cell a specific element from the Core Data then it is shown seperately in the tableview. I googled a lot, reading here and there. I dont know which code I should show because I dont have a clue where exactly the mistake could be. Maybe someone can answer that immediately because it is a stupid mistake somewhere, which is common. Thanks for your help.

  • Help adding a backgroundView to UITableViewCell

    - by Alex
I'm getting really desperate trying to add a UIImageView to UITableViewCell.backgroundView. All my efforts have resulted in this crappy rendering: It looks like the cell's label's white background is sitting on top of cell's background and covering portions of it. I tried setting the label's background color to clear, or some other color and it does not have any event. It is always white. The reason I know it's the text label's background causing this white area is that if I don't do [cell setText:@"Cell text here"]; the white area is gone and I see just the cell's background image. Here's the code that I'm using. The table view is added in the .xib file and UITableView is added to UIViewController: - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [myCollection.items count]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSUInteger rowIndex = indexPath.row; static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; cell.backgroundView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"darkCellBackground.png"]]; cell.selectedBackgroundView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"darkCellBackground.png"]]; } [cell setText:@"Cell text here"]; return cell; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic may go here. Create and push another view controller. // AnotherViewController *anotherViewController = [[AnotherViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"AnotherView" bundle:nil]; // [self.navigationController pushViewController:anotherViewController]; // [anotherViewController release]; [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; } - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return NO; } I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but cant quite figure out what.

  • When pressing Back/Menu button my app hangs

    - by Pentium10
I am having a really annoying bug, which yet I don't know how to trace it. I have an activity with 3 tabs, each populated by adapters build by asynctasks. They are displaying well, navigation is fine. I've extended TabActivity. But whenever I hit the Back/Menu/Search button it halts, then after a while the OS displays me this warning: Sorry Activity Contacts (in application MyApp) is not responding. Force close or Wait. How can I trace this problem on the phone?

  • Resizing the imageView in a UITableView

    - by Luca
Hi! I Created a grouped table view, and I noticed that placing an image in the imageView results in an image that is too large. It overlaps the rounded borders of the cell, which is horrible. I tried looking for a way to resize it, but I found many answers that didn't quite satisfy me. How would you do this? Which is the simplest way to go? The solutions I found where strangely complicated. Thanks!

  • How to implement context menu on key press instead of long click/tap

    - by takyon
I have a ListActivity and I want to implement context menu for each of the list elements. I know that the common way to do this is to show the context menu on long click/tap. I want to know if there is a way to show the context menu for each element on a key press(preferably the menu key). To rephrase my question, how can I trigger the context menu and not the options menu by pressing the menu key(or any other key).

  • mutableCopyWithZone updating a property value.

    - by Jim
I have a Class that I need to copy with the ability to make changes the value of a variable on both Classes. Simply put the classes need to remain clones of each other at all times. My understanding of the documentation is that I can do this using a shallow copy of the Class which has also been declared mutable. By shallow copying the pointer value for the variable will be cloned so that it is an exact match in both classes. So when I update the variable in the original the copy will be updated simultaneously. Is this right? As you can see below I have used mutableCopyWithZone in the class I want to copy. I have tried both NSCopyObject and allocWithZone methods to get this to work. Although I'm able to copy the class and it appears as intended, when updating the variable it is not changing value in the copied Class. - (id)mutableCopyWithZone:(NSZone *)zone { //ReviewViewer *copy = NSCopyObject(self, 0, zone); ReviewViewer *copy = [[[self class] allocWithZone:zone] init]; copy->infoTextViews = [infoTextViews copy]; return copy; } infoTextViews is a property declared as nonatomic, retain in the header file of the class being copied. I have also implemented the NSMutableCopying protocol accordingly. Any help would be great.

  • Problem loading a contents URL into a string

    - by bebeTech
I've been using this method for a few weeks now as suggested on my previous question and the app now keeps crashing with a Protocol 443 error - something about unable to resolve the address. Worked fine when first installed and then just stopped. The same with on the device itself, worked fine until this morning and now the same issue?? Nothing wrong with the URL as I can still load in a browser. If I leave it for a couple of days it starts working again?? Is there a more effecient way of using the Http POST and GET functions? All I am trying to do is perform a login and save the resulting page to a string. Is there a more Android friendly way?

    - by user338322
    I am trying to use a custom cell, My custom cell is of size 320*220 pixels. My table size is 320* by 1500 which is large enough I have set custom cell's view in scale to fill mode. But when i fill the table using custom cell all i see is first row. i have total four rows to be filld in a custom way. but they gets overlapped and i can not see any of the table.. They do look, but overlapped, Any hints .. about why its happening Do i need to make changes into nib? -(UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath{ static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"CustomCell"; CustomCell *cell = (CustomCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"CustomCell" owner:self options:nil]; for (id oneObject in nib) if ([oneObject isKindOfClass:[CustomCell class]]) cell = (CustomCell *)oneObject; } cell.iconImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"beach%d.jpg",indexPath.row+1]]; cell.title.text=[[RArrray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row] objectForKey:@"Beach"]; return cell; }
