  Hello, In samplexml.svg there is a node <image width="744" height="1052" xlink:href="image1.png"/> I need to replace "image1.png" with another value like "image2.png". Please guide me with sample code how to to that. I could get the attribute value "image1.png". • XSD, restrictions and code generation

  Hello, I'm working on some code generation for an existing project and I want to start from a xsd. So I can use tools as Xsd2Code / xsd.exe to generate the code and also the use the xsd to validate the xml. That part works without any problems. I also want to translate some of the restrictions to DataAnnotations (enrich Xsd2Code). For example xs:minInclusive / xs:maxInclusive I can translate to a RangeAttribute. But what to do with custom validation attributes that we created? Can I add custom facets / restrictions? And how? Or is there another solution / best practice.   My application receives a constant stream of xml files which are more or less a direct copy of the database record <record type="update"> <field name="id">987654321</field> <field name="user_id">4321</field> <field name="updated">2011-11-24 13:43:23</field> </record> And I need to deserialize this into a class which provides nullable property's for all columns class Record { public long? Id { get; set; } public long? UserId { get; set; } public DateTime? Updated { get; set; } } I just cant seem to work out a method of doing this without having to parse the xml file manually and switch on the field's name attribute to store the values. Is their a way this can be achieved quickly using an XmlSerializer? And if not is their a more efficient way of parsing it manually? Regards and thanks My main problem is that the attribute name needs to have its value set to a property name and its value as the contents of a <field>..</field> element

  I have derived a class from Exception, basically like so: class MyException extends Exception { private $_type; public function type() { return $this->_type; //line 74 } public function __toString() { include "sometemplate.php"; return ""; } } Then, I derived from MyException like so: class SpecialException extends MyException { private $_type = "superspecial"; } If I throw new SpecialException("bla") from a function, catch it, and go echo $e, then the __toString function should load a template, display that, and then not actually return anything to echo. This is basically what's in the template file <div class="<?php echo $this->type(); ?>class"> <p> <?php echo $this->message; ?> </p> </div> in my mind, this should definitely work. However, I get the following error when an exception is thrown and I try to display it: Fatal error: Cannot access private property SpecialException::$_type in C:\path\to\exceptions.php on line 74 Can anyone explain why I am breaking the rules here? Am I doing something horribly witty with this code? Is there a much more idiomatic way to handle this situation? The point of the $_type variable is (as shown) that I want a different div class to be used depending on the type of exception caught.

• Process xml-like log file queue

  Hi all, first of all: I'm not a programmer, never was, although had learn a lot during my professional carreer as a support consultant. Now my task is to process - and create some statistics about a constantly written and rapidly growing XML like log file. It's not valid XML, because it does not have a proper <root> element, e.g. the log looks like this: <log itemdate="somedate"> <field id="0" /> ... </log> <log itemdate="somedate+1"> <field id="0" /> ... </log> <log itemdate="somedate+n"> <field id="0" /> ... </log> E.g. I have to count all the items with field id=0. But most of the solutions I had found (e.g. using XPath) reports an error about the garbage after the first closing </log>. Most probably I can use python (2.6, although I can compile 3.x as well), or some really old perl version (5.6.x), and recently compiled xmlstarlet which really looks promising - I was able to create the statistics for a certain period after copying the file, and pre- & appending the opening and closing root element. But this is a huge file and copying takes time as well. Isn't there a better solution? Thanks in advance!

• Unserializing an API return object (PHP/Ebay API)

  I have been working with the Ebay api for a project and have found it great. I have however found a problem now, more PHP related. When I read my items from Ebay, I store a bunch of details in the database. Currently, just for the sake of it really, I serialize the whole return object and store it in the database in a related table. The idea being, that when I display my information, I have all the details to hand should I need them. The problem arises in that the pricing information is always in a sub object. [ConvertedAdjustmentAmount] => __PHP_Incomplete_Class Object ( [__PHP_Incomplete_Class_Name] => eBayAmountType [_] => 0 [currencyID] => USD ) As you can see when I unserialize my object, my cunning plan falls foul of the Incomplete class problem. I have checked the following question, without success. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/965611/forcing-access-to-php-incomplete-class-object-properties The main issue lies, as far as I can see, in that the price class is stored in the Ebay api, so how do I recreate it? I have been reading this page, http://uk3.php.net/manual/en/function.unserialize.php and trying to figure out, unserialize_callback_func which I can't figure out either, so any help would be appreciated!

The aim is to be able to replace HTML tags in the template e.g.; <!-- component:customer-login --> with; <?php component_customer_login(); ?> I also need to call pre-render methods of the "Customer" class to validate forms before output is made etc. If anyone can think of a better way, please let me know but in the first instance, I'd like to know why I get the "Fatal error" mentioned above. • List of Big-O for PHP functions?

  After using PHP for a while now, I've noticed that not all PHP built in functions as fast as expected. Consider the below two possible implementations of a function that finds if a number is prime using a cached array of primes. //very slow for large $prime_array $prime_array = array( 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, .... 104729, ... ); $result_array = array(); foreach( $array_of_number => $number ) { $result_array[$number] = in_array( $number, $large_prime_array ); } //still decent performance for large $prime_array $prime_array => array( 2 => NULL, 3 => NULL, 5 => NULL, 7 => NULL, 11 => NULL, 13 => NULL, .... 104729 => NULL, ... ); foreach( $array_of_number => $number ) { $result_array[$number] = array_key_exists( $number, $large_prime_array ); } This is because in_array is implemented with a linear search O(n) which will linearly slow down as $prime_array grows. Where the array_key_exists function is implemented with a hash lookup O(1) which will not slow down unless the hash table gets extremely populated (in which case it's only O(logn)). So far I've had to discover the big-O's via trial and error, and occasionally looking at the source code. Now for the question... I was wondering if there was a list of the theoretical (or practical) big O times for all* the PHP built in functions. *or at least the interesting ones For example find it very hard to predict what the big O of functions listed because the possible implementation depends on unknown core data structures of PHP: array_merge, array_merge_recursive, array_reverse, array_intersect, array_combine, str_replace (with array inputs), etc.

• Problem with thumbnails after newly added - PHP on-the-fly method

  Hey again... to those that may have read my previous question that got solved a couple minutes ago .< The on-the-fly php script works perfectly, but when I went to upload new images into a gallery which I made myself, the images are resized to 150 x 150 for what I wanted... however, when it comes to new images being added it is all black... As you can see the three black images that were uploaded to the folder and the directory added to the database. What is causing this? If I view the source, the code is fine... the while loop in the PHP generates an output like this: <div class="view-wrap" id="photo-10"> <div class="view-icon"> <div class="img-label"> <a href="#" id="10" class="delete"><img src="img/small-delete.png" /> Delete</a> </div> <a href="img/events/Paintballing/24251_1395408043148_1170626626_1204038_5382765_n.jpg"> <img src="image.php?dir=img/events/Paintballing/24251_1395408043148_1170626626_1204038_5382765_n.jpg" alt="" width="110" height="110" /> </a> </div> </div> An example of one block. If I view the source (in Firefox) and click on the image.php?dir=img/events/Paintballing/24251_1395408043148_1170626626_1204038_5382765_n.jpg by exmaple, I can see the thumbnail at it's 150 x 150 size but in the layout, it shows a black thumbnail... Does anyone know why this is happening?

  I am trying to display some rows from a database table based on choices submitted by the user. Two of my columns are called receipe name and ingredients(each field under ingredients can store a number of fruits). What I would like to do is, if a number of checkboxes are selected then the receipe name/s is displayed. • PHP IIS problems downloading file says it is corrupt

  Hi, I am running PHP on IIS 6 with mssql. I have uploaded a file to my webserver through a php script. Upon checking the file on the server the file is ok and not corrupt. However, when i then have a link on my website to try and download the file, it says the file is corrupt. I know the file isnt corrupt as i can view it perfectly if i look at the file on the server. • Adding with PHP to a MySQL database

  I am pretty new to PHP and I am trying to make an inventory database. I have been trying to make it so that a user can enter a card ID and then amount the want to add to the inventory and have it update the inventory. For example someone could type in test and 2342 and it would update test.
