• WCF host in windows service: cannot get wsdl

  Hi guys! i've a windows service that hosts a WCF service with basicHTTPBinding. In test everything goes right, when i deploy the win service on a Window Server 2003, service hosts correctly wcf, I print out endpoints in tracing, they're correct, but when i ask for wsdl using the address that service exposed (i.e. http://mybaseaddress/?wsdl) i get a dns error, i cannot get the page! Where i fail? I miss something? If i host the wcf with a console app, using the same config file, i can get the wsdl without problems! Thank you in advance Michele

  Hi, I have a web service which previously was deployed on http. I used to generate stub classes using wsimport using wsimport http://localhost:8080/MiniForumService/MiniForumService?wsdl. Now I deployed it on SSL. But when I try to generate the stub classes from it using wsimport https://localhost:8443/MiniForumService/MiniForumService?wsdl but I'm getting the following error: unable to find valid certification path to requested target I'm using a self-signed certificate on the server.   Hi there, to start off, I know C++, C#, Python, some Ruby, and basic Javascript. Anyway, my question revolves around how to interact with RESTful API's via Javascript. I haven't been able to find any good examples on various websites, and so I've come here. So my basic question is: How do I interact with RESTful API's via JS? And where can I find out how to implement OAuth in JS? I know how to get my keys and such, just not how to actually code them in. Below is an example of a twitter API status update run from my MAC terminal with curl: curl -u username:password -d "my tweet" http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/update.json How can I implement this in Javascript (preferably with OAuth authentication)?   Hi. I got a wsdl file in email. At first I didn't know how to use it. I've simply saved the file to my disk. Opened visual studio...added a service reference...provided path to file, and service was discovered. I opened the object browser to see the types and methods that got imported. • Groovy MarkupBuilder causing java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError on closure in soapUI

  I am not able to get the Groovy MarkupBuilder to work with soapUI. I am very new to Groovy and I am just following one of the user guides on creating XML. Testing a very simple method: public String Example(){ def writer = new StringWriter() def root = new MarkupBuilder(writer) root.mkp.xmlDeclaration(version:"1.0", encoding:"UTF-8") root.Root{ Example("A") } return writer.toString() } I get the following error in soapUI: ava.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: MockXML$_Example_closure2 I have no error when I run from Groovy Console. In the same class I have: public String Hello(){ return "Hello" } Which works fine in soapUI. Is there something I would need setup/imported/configured in soapUI that I am not thinking about to handle MarkupBuilder/closures? Thanks

  Hi, For my programming tasks I use about 2-3 remote servers to deploy and run my code against different conditions. This cannot be emulated locally as the server configuration requires powerful hardware. Most of time I need to stop service, update binareis, start service, view logs in realtime, download logs. Currently I'm doing this manually and over time this becomes a real pain in the ass, especially because the environment is not ideal in terms of network badwidth, reliability etc. I just wonder if someone from server programmers have the similar problems and how do you bear with them. • VS2010 - RiaServices - A project with that name is already opened in the solution

  Hello, The problem started after installing RiaServices Toolkit Dec 2010. If I unload the project and reload it again, I get this message, even on an empty Silverlight project (no changes made to the project file). "error : A project with that name is already opened in the solution." The solution has only 2 projects: the host (web) and the silverlight one. Any help is appreciated :) UPDATE: It only happens if I give the Silverlight project the same name as the solution.

  I've created my own WCF service and I've successfully been able to talk to it via my Silverlight client. I ran into an interesting problem on my asynchronous callbacks though. When my callback is invoked, I can't update any UI controls with the dreaded invalid cross thread access Here's what my callback function looks like private void GetTimeCallBack( object sender, Talk.ClientBase<IService>.ClientEventArgs e ) { lblDisplay.Text = e.Object.ToString(); } A quick google search showed me that I have to do this instead. private void GetTimeCallBack( object sender, Talk.ClientBase<IService>.ClientEventArgs e ) { Dispatcher.BeginInvoke( () => lblDisplay.Text = e.Object.ToString() ); } Now everything works fine, but I wasn't expecting my callback to be running on a different thread. Will I always have to use the Dispatcher class in order to modify anything within my class or is this just limited to UI elements? I've not familiar with the Dispatcher class at all so I'm looking to understand it more.

  I am trying to implement an automatic backup system for my EBS on Amazon AWS. When I run this command as ec2-user: /opt/aws/bin/ec2-create-snapshot --region us-east-1 -K /home/ec2-user/pk.pem -C /home/ec2-user/cert.pem -d "vol-******** snapshot" vol-******** everything works fine. But if I add this line into /etc/crontab and restart the crond service: 15 12 * * * ec2-user /opt/aws/bin/ec2-create-snapshot --region us-east-1 -K /home/ec2-user/pk.pem -C /home/ec2-user/cert.pem -d "vol-******** snapshot" vol-******** that doesn't work. I checked var/log/cron and there is this line, therefore the command gets executed: Dec 13 12:15:01 ip-10-204-111-94 CROND[4201]: (ec2-user) CMD (/opt/aws/bin/ec2-create-snapshot --region us-east-1 -K /home/ec2-user/pk.pem -C /home/ec2-user/cert.pem -d "vol-******** snapshot" vol-******** ) Can you please help me to troubleshoot the problem? (lots of stacktrace info - not very useful) InnerException: System.ServiceModel.FaultException Message="An error occurred when verifying security for the message." The exception tells me nothing. I'm assuming that it has something to do with acces to system resources from the Windows Service. I've tried running it under the same account as the console app, but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

• WCF identity when moving from dev to prod. environment

  I have a web service developed with WCF. In the development environment the endpoint has the following identity section under the endpoint configuration. <identity> <dns value="myservice.devdomain.local" /> </identity> myservice.devdomain.local is the dns name used to reach the development version of the service. The binding used is: <basicHttpBinding> <binding name ="myBinding"> <security mode ="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows"/> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> I am about to put this into production. The binding will be the same, but the address will be a new production address myservice.proddomain.local. I have planned to change the dns value in the configuration to myservice.proddomain.local in the production environment. However this MSDN article on WCF Identity makes me worried about the impact on the clients when I change the identity. There are two clients - one .NET and one Java using this service. Both of those have been developed against the dev instance of the service. The idea is to just reconfigure the endpoint used by the clients, without reloading the WSDL. But if the identity is somehow part of the WSDL and the identity changes when deploying to prod that might not work. Will the new identity in the prod version cause issues for the clients that were developed using the dev wsdl? Do the Java and the .NET clients handle this differently?
