  • Is there a security risk for allowing people to set their DNS so their own subdomains can be route to my server?

    - by DantheMan
Lets say that I have a web application, built in Django and deployed with Nginx. Is it a good idea to offer a service that allows customers to request that a subdomain can be pointed at it. I figured this: If I dont allow this, then some companies wont want to access the service from http://mydjangoappmadeupname.com/bigcorporation/ They would rather access it through http://service.bigcorporation.com That would effectively mask that they are using an outside resource. Is there a significant risk that I am overlooking? Also do you think it would be easier to just set things up in Django to handle it, allowing Nginx to accept all domains and then pushing them to Django which would filter out if they are allowed or not, or would it be better to just update my Nginx log each time a client wanted this changed?

  • In Djano, why do I get a 500 server error when browsing, but "python mysite.fcgi" from SSH works fin

    - by Jim
If I browse to my site, I get a 500 "internal server error." However, if I SSH into my server and go to my site's folder and run "python mysite.fcgi" I see the HTML rendered fine. Obviously, something is wrong, but I'm not sure what. Here is my .htaccess file: AddHandler fastcgi-script .fcgi RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^(media/.*)$ - [L] RewriteRule ^(static/.*)$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ mysite.fcgi/$1 [QSA,L] Here is my mysite.fcgi file: #!/usr/bin/python2.5 import sys, os sys.path.insert(0, "/kunden/homepages/34/[mydir]/htdocs/projects/django") sys.path.insert(1, "/kunden/homepages/34/[mydir]/lib/python/site-packages") os.chdir("/kunden/homepages/34/[mydir]/htdocs/projects/django/mysite") os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'mysite.settings' from django.core.servers.fastcgi import runfastcgi runfastcgi(["method=threaded", "daemonize=false"]) I'm setting this up on 1and1. It has been a pain, but I think I'm close.

  • Does uwsgi workers share a common memory ? [ With Nginx ]

    - by Yugal Jindle
I have configured my Nginx with Django uwsgi. When the django server starts, it reads a 5MB file from the hard-disk. Now, Without Nginx with Django default server python manage.py runserver = Runs immediately and starts serving pages. Problem: With Nginx as the server It takes very long time and several HTTP 504 before it start serving pages. So, How does uwsgi workers work with Nginx ? I have: 4 Workers 512 Threads each So, is the 5MB file getting read 512 * 4 times ? Is there a possible work around for this in Nginx / Uwsgi ?

  • Parsing a XML File and Replacing Chosen Node With Values From Text File

    - by transmogrify
    I wrote a C# Winforms program to take a XML file and load values from a text file into each occurrence of that field which the user specifies on the UI. For whatever reason, the program inserts a carriage return on any nodes which don't contain a value. For example, it will do that to <example></example> whereas it will not misbehave on something like <country>USA</country> What is causing it to do this and how can I prevent it? Here is the code from the part which handles this functionality. XmlDocument LoadXmlDoc = new XmlDocument(); StreamReader sr = File.OpenText(DataLoadTxtBx.Text); string InputFromTxtFile; LoadXmlDoc.Load(XmlPath.Text); XmlNodeList NodeToCreateOrReplace = LoadXmlDoc.GetElementsByTagName(XmlTagNameTxtBx.Text); foreach (XmlNode SelectedNode in NodeToCreateOrReplace) { if ((InputFromTxtFile = sr.ReadLine()) != null) { SelectedNode.InnerText = InputFromTxtFile; } } sr.Close(); LoadXmlDoc.Save(XmlPath.Text);

  • SFTP transfer file and move file to folder

    - by molecule
Hi all, This is my first post so please excuse my ignorance. I am using a vbscript to zip all .csv type files in a particular folder. After some google searches, I have found a workable vbscript to do this and have enabled a scheduled task to automate this. What I need to do next is to transfer the zip file via sftp and then "move" that zip file into another folder. I believe the former can be achieved using pscp.exe via command line but can someone show me how to do the latter? Basically the zipping will be done twice a day and so it will have a timestamp similar to yyyymmdd0900.zip (for 9am schedule) and yyyymmdd1800.zip (for 6pm schedule). After the transfer, I want to move (not copy) the zip file generated into another folder. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

  • Windows batch file to list folders that have a specific file in them

    - by Lee
I'm trying to create a file that has a list of directories that have a specific file name in them. Let's say I'm trying to find directories that have a file named *.joe in them. I initially tried just a simple dir /ad *.joe > dir_list.txt , but it searches the directory names for *.joe, so no go. Then I concluded that a for loop was probably my best bet. I started with for /d /r %a in ('dir *.joe /b') do @echo %a >> dir_list.txt and it looked like it wasn't executing the dir command. I added the "usebackq", but that seems to only work for the /F command extension. Ideas?

  • File location for config file to app installed to local user location

    - by user54064
I have a WinForm app that has inside of the app's config file locations to find files for the app to use as it runs. However, the app will be installed locally for each user so it can't be hard coded. For Vista and Windows 7 the installer puts the app in c:\users\\Documents area. Under Windows XP it puts it in a different location. How can I write the config file to use some sort of placeholder to be filled in at runtime with the specific user's information? I am just using the default areas that Windows wants to install a per-user install but need the config file to be flexible at runtime for the specific user.

  • WIX - Verify that file exists - and/or file-browser dialog/button

    - by NealWalters
How do you create a "Browse" button in a WIX dialog. I currently have a custom dialog box with four radio buttons (Dev, QA, Stage, and Prod), and a text field for a filename. The install of course dies if the user enters a bad filename. I would be happy first of all just to verify that the file they entered exists. Secondly, I would like to add a File-Browser button, if such things exists in WIX. But even then, I would imagine the user could type in any file name, and I should still check to see if it exists. Thanks, Neal Walters

  • Is there a way to "freeze" a file in Git?

    - by Suan
I'm in a situation where I want to open source my project, however there's a single source file that I want to release a "clean" version of, but use a separate version locally. Does git have a feature where I can just commit a file once, and it stops looking for changes on that file from now on? I've tried adding the file to .gitignore, but after the first time when I do a git add -f and git commit on the file, and I proceed to edit it again, git status shows the file as changed. The ideal behavior would be for git to not show this file as changed from now on, even though I've edited it. I'd also be interested in how others have dealt with "scrubbing" their codebases of private code/data before pushing to an open source repo, especially on Git.

  • How do I dynamically load a js file using Prototype?

    - by domagoj412
Hello, I am using prototype to load external js file (actually it is php file) dynamically. Like this: function UpdateJS(file) { var url = 'main_js.php?file='+file; var myAjax = new Ajax.Request( url, {method: 'get', onComplete: showResponseHeader} ); } function showResponseHeader (originalRequest) { $('jscode').innerHTML = originalRequest.responseText; } Container "jscode" is defined like this: <script type="text/javascript" id="jscode"></script> And it works! But if some different file is called, all the functions from previous one are preserved. And I don't want that. Anybody knows how to "unload" first js file when second one is called? (I also tried using Ajax.Updater function but the result is the same.) Update: It turns out that there is bigger problem: it only loads if function "UpdateJS" is in window.onload that is why it doesn't load anything else after that. So prototypes update it's maybe not such a good way for this...

  • Ruby on Rails: restrict file type with Paperclip using a flash uploader

    - by aperture
I have a pretty basic Paperclip Upload model that is attached to a User model through has_many, and am using Uploadify to do the actual uploading. Flash sends all files with the content type of "application/octet-stream" so using validates_attachment_content_type rejects all files. In my create action, I am able to get the mime-type from the original file name, but only after it's been saved, with: def coerce(params) h = Hash.new h[:upload] = Hash.new h[:upload][:attachment].content_type = MIME::Types.type_for(h[:upload][:attachment].original_filename).to_s ... end and def create diff_params = coerce(params) @upload = Upload.new(diff_params[:upload]) ... end What would be the best way of white listing file types? I am thinking a before_validation method, but I'm not sure how that would work. Any ideas would be welcome.

  • How to Return A File and a strongly Typed data at the same time?

    - by chobo2
Hi I am using asp.net mvc 1.0 and I want to return a XML file but I also want to return a strongly typed data back so I can update some fields. Like the XML file will contain users who failed to be inserted into the database. So I want that to appear as a dialog save box what asp.net mvc return file() would do. However I also want to return on the page like values like how many users failed to be added, how many users where added, etc. So I want to use scafolding with the class file I want to pass it along. If this was a view I could pass it along as an object model but I don't see a parameter for that in File(). I also don't want to save the xml file onto the harddrive I want to do it through memory. So have a link that would display on the page to download the file and show the the data I want would not be desired.

  • Best practice: How to persist simple data without a database in django?

    - by Infinity
I'm building a website that doesn't require a database because a REST API "is the database". (Except you don't want to be putting site-specific things in there, since the API is used by mostly mobile clients) However there's a few things that normally would be put in a database, for example the "jobs" page. You have master list view, and the detail views for each job, and it should be easy to add new job entries. (not necessarily via a CMS, but that would be awesome) e.g. example.com/careers/ and example.com/careers/77/ I could just hardcode this stuff in templates, but that's no DRY- you have to update the master template and the detail template every time. What do you guys think? Maybe a YAML file? Or any better ideas? Thx

  • How do i force a file to be deleted? Windows server 2008

    - by acidzombie24
On my site a user may upload a file (pic, zip, audio, video, whatever). He then may decide to replace it with a newer revision. This user may upload a file, make a post then decide to put up a new revision replacing the old (lets say its a large zip or tar.gz file). Theres a good chance people may be downloading it if he sent out an email or even im for the home user. Problem. I need to replace the file and people may be downloading and it may be some minutes before it is deleted. I dont want my code to stall until i cant delete or check every second to see if its unused (especially bad if another user can start and he takes long creating a cycle). How do i delete the file while users are downloading the file? i dont care if they stop i just care that the file can be replaced and new downloads are the new revision.

  • Change a File Type’s Icon in Windows 7

    - by Trevor Bekolay
In Windows XP, you could change the icon associated with a file type in Windows Explorer. In Windows 7, you have to do some registry hacking to change a file type’s icon. We’ll show you a much easier and faster method for Windows 7. File Types Manager File Types Manager is a great little utility from NirSoft that includes the functionality of Windows XP’s folder options and adds a whole lot more. It works great in Windows 7, and its interface makes it easy to change a bunch of related file types at once. A common problem we run into are icons that look too similar. You have to look for a few seconds to see the difference between the movies and the text files. Let’s change the icon for the movie files to make visually scanning through directories much easier. Open up File Types Manager. Find the “Default Icon” column and click on it to sort the list by the Default Icon. (We’ve hidden a bunch of columns we don’t need, so you may find it to be farther to the right.) This groups together all file extensions that already have the same icon. This is convenient because we want to change the icon of all video files, which at the moment all have the same default icon. Click the “Find” button on the toolbar, of press Ctrl+F. Type in a file type that you want to change. Note that all of the extensions with the same default icon are grouped together. Right click on the first extension whose icon you want to change and click on Edit Selected File Type, or select the first extension and press F2. Click the “…” button next to the Default Icon text field. Click on the Browse… button. File Types Manager allows you to select .exe, .dll, or .ico files. In our case, we have a .ico file that we took from the wonderful public domain Tango icon library. Select the appropriate icon (if you’re using a .exe or .dll there could be many possible icons) then click OK. Repeat this process for each extension whose icon you would like to change. Now it’s much easier to see at a glance which files are movies and which are text files! Of course, this process will work for any file type, so customize your files’ icons as you see fit. • OSB and Ubuntu 10.04 - Too Many Open Files

    - by jeff.x.davies
When installing the latest Oracle Service Bus (11gR1PS3) onto my Ubuntu 10.04 system, the Eclipse IDE was complaining about there being too many open files. The Oracle Service Bus and the Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (aka OEPE) do make use of ALOT of files. By default, Ubuntu will restrict each user to 1024 open files. A much more realistic number for OSB development is 4096. Changing the file limit in Ubuntu is fairly simple (if arcane). You will need to modify two different files and then restart your server. First, you need to modify the limits.conf file as the root user. Open a terminal window and enter the following command: sudo gedit /etc/security/limits.conf Add the following 2 lines to the file. The asterisk simply means that the rule will apply to all users. * soft nofile 4096 * hard nofile 4096 Save your changes and close gedit. The second file to change is the common-session file. Use the following command: sudo gedit /etc/pam.d/common-session Add the following line: session required pam_limits.so Save the file and exit gedit. Restart your machine. You shouldn't have any more problems with too many open files anymore.

  • DropSpace Syncs Android Files to Dropbox

    - by ETC
DropSpace is a free Android application that fixes the primary issue that plagues the official Dropbox app for Android–the lack of true file synchronization. Grab a copy of DropSpace and start enjoying true file syncing on the go. The official Dropbox app is limited to grabbing files from your Dropbox account or pushing files from your phone to your Dropbox account. Actual file synchronization, this manual push/pull model aside, is nowhere to be found. DropSpace fills that gap by enabling file synchronization between your SD card directories and your Dropbox directories. It’s packed with handy features including restricting file syncing to Wi-Fi connection only (great if you don’t want to chew up your very limited data plan) as well as numerous toggles for various settings like whether it should delete remote files if the local file is deleted, how often it should run the sync service, and more. Hit up the link below to grab a copy and take it for a test drive. DropSpace is free and works wherever Android does; Dropbox account required. I have a html form like this <form data-ajax="false" action='UserPhoto.php' class="settings" method='POST' enctype='multipart/form-data' > <input type='file' style="height:25px" name='photo' /> <input type='hidden' name='task' value='upload'> <input type='hidden' name='file_size' value='5000000'> and I want to upload it by using webView posturl function, is it possible? as I know posturl can send String data by this way String value1 = "persistent=1"; String value2 = "&email="+ 2nd_value; String value3 = "&password="+ 3rd_value; String postData = value1+value2+value3; webView.postUrl("http://www.abc.php",EncodingUtils.getBytes(postData, "BASE64")); but is it possible for me to post .png together with some string values? and I know another method using this way to upload photo conn.setRequestProperty("Connection", "Keep-Alive"); conn.setRequestProperty("ENCTYPE", "multipart/form-data"); conn.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "multipart/form-data;boundary=" + boundary); conn.setRequestProperty("photo", fileName); but this way doesn't communicate with webview, I need to post the photo using webview as user session is kept with it. Thanks for helping.

  • Uploading to TwitVid using x_verify_credentials_authorization

    - by deepa
Hi, I am developing an iPhone application that uploads videos to TwitVid using the library TwitVid-iPhone-OAuth3. I have selected this library since Twitter is shifting to OAuth mechanism of authentication. 1) Does this new library allows to upload without user-name and password parameters? 2) I am using the following steps for uploading videos (assumed that new library allows to upload without user-name and password parameters). But, I am getting the error 'Incorrect Signature'. I am not able to identify the mistake that I am doing here. Could you please help me out to solve this problem. Authenticate the app using OAuth (MGTwitterEngine etc) which redirects the user to the web-page asking for log-in and app authentication. If the user authenticates the app, access token will obtained as final step. Upload the video to TwitVid using the following code snippet: OAuth *authorizer = [[OAuth alloc] initWithConsumerKey: @"my_consumer_key" andConsumerSecret: @"my_consumer_secret"]; authorizer.oauth_token = //The key-part of the access token obtained in step 2 authorizer.oauth_token_secret = //The secret-part of the access token obtained in step 2 authorizer.oauth_token_authorized = YES; //Since authenticated in steps 1 and 2 NSString *authHeader = [authorizer oAuthHeaderForMethod: @"POST" andUrl: @"https://api.twitter.com/1/account/verify_credentials.xml" andParams: nil]; twitVid = [[TwitVid alloc] init]; [mTwitVid setDelegate: self]; [mTwitVid authenticateWithXVerifyCredentialsAuthorization: authHeader xAuthServiceProvider: nil]; Thanks and Regards, Deepa

  • Basic File upload in GWT

I'm trying to figure out how to upload one file using GWTs FileUpload widget. I'm using GWT and Google AppEngine with Java but I would like to upload file to my own Linux server. I have the following code already but now I can't figure out how to submit my file to the Google AppServer server and save it to another server: public class FileUploader{ private ControlPanel cp; private FormPanel form = new FormPanel(); private FileUpload fu = new FileUpload(); public FileUploader(ControlPanel cp) { this.cp = cp; this.cp.setPrimaryArea(getFileUploaderWidget()); } @SuppressWarnings("deprecation") public Widget getFileUploaderWidget() { form.setEncoding(FormPanel.ENCODING_MULTIPART); form.setMethod(FormPanel.METHOD_POST); // form.setAction(/* WHAT SHOULD I PUT HERE */); VerticalPanel holder = new VerticalPanel(); fu.setName("upload"); holder.add(fu); holder.add(new Button("Submit", new ClickHandler() { public void onClick(ClickEvent event) { GWT.log("You selected: " + fu.getFilename(), null); form.submit(); } })); form.addSubmitHandler(new FormPanel.SubmitHandler() { public void onSubmit(SubmitEvent event) { if (!"".equalsIgnoreCase(fu.getFilename())) { GWT.log("UPLOADING FILE????", null); // NOW WHAT???? } else{ event.cancel(); // cancel the event } } }); form.addSubmitCompleteHandler(new FormPanel.SubmitCompleteHandler() { public void onSubmitComplete(SubmitCompleteEvent event) { Window.alert(event.getResults()); } }); form.add(holder); return form; } } Now, what do I need to do next? What do i need to put in web.xml and how do I write my servlet so i can store file and return url of that object (if possible)

  • GoDaddy Subdomain Hosting Issue/Question with Disk Access (C#/ASP.NET 3.5)

    - by Vogel
This isn't a very complicated scenario really, but as I start to type out the problem I'm realizing how convoluted it can become textually. Let me try and be very clear: First, the set up... I have a C#/ASP.NET web application that is publicly facing on my main domain (www), let's call it www.mysite.com. Nothing fancy, just a front-end that connects to SQL to display records. Then, I have a second C#/ASP.NET web application that is secured using forms authentication running on a subdomain, let's call it admin.mysite.com. This is a very light-weight CMS system to administer the public site. Now, the problem... Both of these sites run fine for basic tasks, however, my problem arises when I try to gain access to the file system for uploading. GoDaddy requires subdomains to run as a virtual directories under the main application in IIS (so the subdomains actually resolve/re-direct to www.mysite.com/admin when you type in admin.mysite.com), but because of this I am unable to write to my website root from the subfolder. Let me explain a little more... The CMS system (running as a virtual directory) gives the admin the ability to upload photos for display on the main site, the target folder of which is www.mysite.com/images - when attempting disk access from the root app, I am able to write to the virtual directory, but cannot do the opposite -- that is, write to the root from the virtual directory, getting security violations. If I can only upload to the /admin/ virtual directory, the entire point is moot because it's a secured folder that the public can't see! The only solution I can think of is to upload the files to the /admin/ virtual directory, then call a URL in the root that moves files from /admin/ back to the root, but that is entirely ghetto. I hope this post makes sense. Anyone else experience anything like this? The bottom line is that it seems virtual directories ONLY have access to themselves, and not their parent directories, no matter what credentials are used. Thanks!
