  • Can't add to NSMutableArray from SecondaryView

    - by Antonio
    Hi guys, I've searched and read and still haven't found a concrete answer. Brief: I have an application where I declare an NSMutableArray in my AppDelegate to synthesize when the application loads. (code below). I have a SecondaryViewController call this function, and I have it output a string to let me know what the array size is. Every time I run it, it executes but it does not add any objects to the array. How do I fix this? AppDelegate.h file #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @class arrayTestViewController; @interface arrayTestAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; arrayTestViewController *viewController; NSMutableArray *myArray3; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *myArray3; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet arrayTestViewController *viewController; -(void)addToArray3; @end AppDelegate.m file #import "arrayTestAppDelegate.h" #import "arrayTestViewController.h" @implementation arrayTestAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; @synthesize myArray3; #pragma mark - #pragma mark Application lifecycle - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { myArray3 = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; // Override point for customization after application launch. // Add the view controller's view to the window and display. [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } -(void)addToArray3{ NSLog(@"Array Count: %d", [myArray3 count]); [myArray3 addObject:@"Test"]; NSLog(@"Array triggered from SecondViewController"); NSLog(@"Array Count: %d", [myArray3 count]); } SecondViewController.m file #import "SecondViewController.h" #import "arrayTestAppDelegate.h" @implementation SecondViewController -(IBAction)addToArray{ arrayTestAppDelegate *object = [[arrayTestAppDelegate alloc] init]; [object addToArray3]; }

  • App Crashes Loading View Controllers

    - by golfromeo
    I have the following code in my AppDelegate.h file: @class mainViewController; @class AboutViewController; @interface iSearchAppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; mainViewController *viewController; AboutViewController *aboutController; UINavigationController *nav; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet mainViewController *viewController; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet AboutViewController *aboutController; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UINavigationController *nav; [...IBActions declared here...] @end Then, in my .m file: @implementation iSearchAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController, aboutController, settingsData, nav, engines; (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { [window addSubview:nav.view]; [window addSubview:aboutController.view]; [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } -(IBAction)switchToHome{ [window bringSubviewToFront:viewController.view]; } -(IBAction)switchToSettings{ [window bringSubviewToFront:nav.view]; } -(IBAction)switchToAbout{ [window bringSubviewToFront:aboutController.view]; } - (void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [aboutController release]; [nav release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end Somehow, when I run the app, the main view presents itself fine... however, when I try to execute the actions to switch views, the app crashes with an EXC_BAD_ACCESS. Thanks for any help in advance.

  • UINavigationController crashes after pushing 3 views onto stack

    - by joec
    I have a navigation controller, which has the following structure: Category Item Item Detail I can choose a category, and then choose an item to see its details. I can do this twice, i.e. go Back to the list of items and select another item. If i try this a third time, the app crashes, I get objc_msgSend in stack but thats all. But, instead of choosing another item, i go to the list of categories, and choose a different category, I can select two items in that category, before it crashes also. What would be causing this? Thanks

  • Twitter and Facebook on iPhone - save sessions across app launches?

    - by lostInTransit
    Hi I am using OAuth for twitter and fb-connect for facebook authentication in my iPhone app. Is it possible to save the user sessions across app launches? i.e. if the user logs in once, the next time they launch the app, we log them in automatically from some state saved the last time the app closed? For Twitter would it work if I just save the auth_token and use it every time the user wants to use twitter from my app? Or do I need to do anything else? I could not get it to work like that so wondering if I was doing something wrong. Thanks.

  • Logging to a file on Android

    - by Greg B
    Is there any way of retrieving log messages from an Android handset. I'm building an application which uses the GPS of my HTC Hero. I can run and debug the application from eclipse but this isn't a good use case of GPS, sat at my desk. When I fire the app up when I am walking around, I get an intermittent exception. Is there anyway I can output these exceptions to a text file on the SD card or output calls to Log.x("") to a text file so that I can see what the exception is. Thanks EDIT : Solution Here is the code I finally went with... Thread.currentThread().setUncaughtExceptionHandler(new Thread.UncaughtExceptionHandler() { @Override public void uncaughtException(Thread thread, Throwable ex) { PrintWriter pw; try { pw = new PrintWriter( new FileWriter(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory()+"/rt.log", true)); ex.printStackTrace(pw); pw.flush(); pw.close(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } }); I had to wrap the line pw = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory()+"/rt.log", true)); in a try/catch as Eclipse would not let me compile the app. It kept saying Unhandled exception type IOException 1 quick fix Sorround with try/catch So I did and it all works which is fine by me but it does make me wonder what Eclipse was on about...

  • Modifying the Google Drive menu interface

    - by Dangerbunny
    So I'm working on a web-app for the Google Marketplace that's going to involve integration with Google Drive. Part of what I want to be able to do with the app involves something along the lines of adding a menu option to the Drive menu interface. For instance, you could be editing a document in drive and browse to File-"My new fancy option." Does anyone know if this is possible? Or if it is not, is there another way of adding this sort of custom action functionality where you are able to perform non Drive standard actions on files from within the Drive interface?

  • How can I dynamically hide a button from a view?

    - by jpm
    I would like to dynamically hide a button in one of my views, depending on a certain condition. I tried adding some code to the view controller's -viewWillAppear method, to make the button hidden before displaying the actual view, but I still don't know how to do that. I have a reference to the button through an IBOutlet, but I'm not sure how to move forward from here. For reference, this is a UIBarButtonItem instance.

  • Any way to animate new elements in a GridView being added?

    - by Ben L.
    My app polls a server every 15 seconds to see if there are any new items to display, then downloads the new items and disposes of the old items so that there are always exactly 100 items in the GridView. Unfortunately, this process can be confusing to the user if they see a page of images change without knowing where the items went. My idea is that there could be some kind of animation (such as the new items being inserted at the top and pushing the older ones down the list) to show what action is happening. Unfortunately, I have no clue how to make this animation happen. Is my idea even possible? How would I accomplish this?

  • iPhone table header labels not showing up in Release build but show up OK in Debug build

    - by Robert
    My table header shows up ok with Release build or Debug build for the iPhone simulator, but the header labels only show up with debug build on the iPhone. No header labels show up on the iPhone for release build. Any ideas? Thanks, Robert My code for the header is below - (UIView *) tableView:(UITableView *)tableView viewForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)sectionNum { @try { // create the parent view that will hold header Label UIView* customView = [[[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(HEADER_RELX_OFFSET, HEADER_RELY_OFFSET, HEADER_ROW_WIDTH, HEADER_HEIGHT)] autorelease]; UILabel* headerLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero]; headerLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; headerLabel.opaque = NO; headerLabel.numberOfLines = 0; headerLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; headerLabel.highlightedTextColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; headerLabel.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:HEADER_FONT_SIZE]; headerLabel.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter; headerLabel.lineBreakMode = UILineBreakModeWordWrap; headerLabel.frame = CGRectMake(HEADER_RELX_OFFSET, HEADER_RELY_OFFSET, HEADER_ROW_WIDTH, HEADER_HEIGHT); if(sectionNum == 0) headerLabel.text = @"My Label"; else headerLabel.text = @""; [customView addSubview:headerLabel]; return customView; @catch (NSException* exception) { NSLog(@"viewForHeaderInSection: %@: %@",[exception name],[exception reason]); } }

  • How to fix: unrecognized selector sent to instance

    - by Matt
    I am having a problem that may be simple to fix, but not simple for me to debug. I simple have a button inside a view in IB; the file's owner is set to the view controller class I am using and when making the connections, everything seems fine, ie. the connector is finding the method I am trying to call etc. however, I am receiving this error: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[UIApplication getStarted:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3d19130' My code is as follows: RootViewController.h @interface RootViewController : UIViewController { IBOutlet UIButton* getStartedButton; } @property (nonatomic, retain) UIButton* getStartedButton; - (IBAction) getStarted: (id)sender; @end RootViewController.m #import "RootViewController.h" #import "SimpleDrillDownAppDelegate.h" @implementation RootViewController @synthesize getStartedButton; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; } - (IBAction) getStarted: (id)sender { NSLog(@"Button Tapped!"); //[self.view removeFromSuperview]; } - (void)dealloc { [getStartedButton release]; [super dealloc]; } @end Seems simple enough...any thoughs?

  • UINavigationController as child view of UIViewController

    - by Gregg
    I have an application that isn't nav based. So there is no UINavigationController in the App Delegate. However, I need to switch to a UINavigationController for a piece of the application. Steps I currently took... Create a new Class that extends UIViewController Added a UINavigationController via IB Told IB that the new UIViewController's view is the view for the UINavigationController The problem now is that the File's Owner needs it's view set. But via IB there is no way to specify this. So obviously, I'm not going about this the right way. Any tips in the right direction are much appreciated.

  • How to view existing data in Core Data?

    - by mshsayem
    Well, may be this question is silly, but I couldn't find a way (except programmatically). I built a project (for iPhone OS 3.0) which uses Core Data. The xcdatamodel file shows the schema description, but I want to see the data in tabular form (like the management studio for mssql server or phpmyadmin for mysql). Is there any way (except coding)? What is that? Also, which file (in disk/device) those data are stored into? [ I built the tutorial (from apple) on Core Data, named Locations. They used this line somewhere in the code: NSURL *storeUrl = [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [[self applicationDocumentsDirectory] stringByAppendingPathComponent: @"Locations.sqlite"]]; But, I did not see any "xxxxx.sqlite" file in project location (nor in the disk).]
