    Symptoms: Server becomes unresponsive - Increase in load, all services stop Loss of connectivity - Ping/SSH Flush MySQL hosts after reboot - As MySQL refuses new connections Intermittent Apache crashes Generally happens early morning hours - 2 days of the week are however excluded Changes made: Updated the OS - to Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS Not sure if the MySQL server was also updated in the process Current MySQL version - mysql Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.63, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 6.1 Updated Plesk from 10.4.4 Update #47 to 11.0.9 Update #23 Rebooted on almost daily basis All crons stopped for the times corresponding to the server crashes Created a MySQL log to monitor the lock times on queries Possible causes: Failing hardware Incorrect software configuration (MySQL, Apache etc) Responsibilities: Small webserver Runs our billing system - WHMCS Responsible for CRONs Bulk-email solution - No delivery times coincide with server crashes Proposed solutions: Move machine over to VM Format and restore the Plesk server backup and take it from there? Side notes: Seems to be a general Apache failure across all our linux servers - Intermittent problem Are we doing something fundamentally wrong in the Apache config? (I understand that this is a secondary question, just making sure that it isnt possibly holding any relevance)

    I'm trying to install something on my server that requires mysqlclient, but looking at my RPM package list I have it ("MySQL-client-5.0.91-0.glibc23"). When i click "insert file", instead of i have a window that browse the Linux server , i get a window that browse my local machine. And when i click insert , nothing is copied to the server. The code to insert file is: Filename: <input type="file" name="file" id="file"> So what should i do to force this application to browse the Linux machine when i open it from my local machine?

  • How can I do a bulk caller ID lookup (reverse phone lookup) on a list of phone numbers?

    I have a tab-delimited text file with all of the phone numbers I've called or received calls from in the past year. The phone numbers are all based in the US, so the format is ###-###-####. For tax purposes, I need to know which calls were personal and which ones were business-related. I could enter them all one-by-one into Google, but that will take forever because there are hundreds of numbers to check. Is there a program, MS Office plugin, or website that I can use to look up all of the numbers at once? If not, is there some way to create an Excel macro to do the lookups for me?

  • What is this PHP process? It is crippling my server

    This process has been using 65% of my site CPU and has lasted for about 10 minutes now (aren't processes only supposed to go for a couple seconds?) It is obviously something with mysql. This makes sense because I have a lot of queries going, but something still seems a bit odd... This could have something to do with my bad PDO connection that I mentioned in the previous question. Perhaps I am opening too many connections or something like that?     Hello, I'm trying to log mysql slow queries, but I can't turn it on. I will explain all my steps: Open and Edit my.cnf and add the following lines: long_query_time = 5 slow_query_log_file = /myfolder/slowq.log log_slow_queries = 1 =(I have MySQL 5.0.7) Give mysql user permitions to write on the file: chown -R mysql:mysql /var/lib/mysql Create the file: touch /myfolder/slowq.log Chmod for this file to 777. service mysqld restart From MySQL Admin Panel I can see that the "log_slow_queries" var is OFF!     Similar error as other questions, but not quite the same, I am not trying to attach anything. What I am trying to do is insert a new row into a linking table, specifically UserAccomplishment. Relations are set in LINQ to User and Accomplishment Tables. I have a generic insert function: Public Function insertRow(ByVal entity As ImplementationType) As Boolean If entity IsNot Nothing Then Dim lcfdatacontext As New LCFDataContext() Try lcfdatacontext.GetTable(Of ImplementationType)().InsertOnSubmit(entity) lcfdatacontext.SubmitChanges() lcfdatacontext.Dispose() Return True Catch ex As Exception Return False End Try Else Return False End If End Function If you try and give UserAccomplishment the two appropriate objects this will naturally crap out if either the User or Accomplishment already exist. It only works when both user and accomplishment don't exist. I expected this behavior. What does work is simply giving the userAccomplishment object a user.id and accomplishment.id and populating the rest of the fields. This works but is kind of awkward to use in my app, it would be much easier to simply pass in both objects and have it work out what already exists and what doesn't. However, upon trying an insert: Dim result As Boolean = Me.userAccomplishmentDao.insertLinkerObjectRow(userAccomplishment) In which the user already exists, but the accomplishment does not (the 99% typical scenario) I get the error: "An attempt has been made to Attach or Add an entity that is not new, perhaps having been loaded from another DataContext. This is not supported." I have debugged this multiple times now and am not sure why this is occuring, if either User or Accomplishment exist, I am not including it in the final object to try to insert. So nothing appears to be attempted to be added. Even in debug, upon insert, the object was set to empty. So the accomplishment is new and the user is empty. 1) Why is it still saying that and how can I fix it ..using my current structure 2) Pre-emptive 'use repository pattern answers' - I know this way kind of sucks in general and I should be using the repository pattern. However, I can't use that in the current project because I don't have time to refactor that due to my non existence knowledge of it and time constraints. The usage of the app is going to so small that the inefficient use of datacontext's and what have you won't matter so much. I can refactor it once it's up and running, but for now I just need to 'push through' with my current structure. Edit: I also just tested this when having both already exists, and only insert each object's IDs into the table, that works. So I guess I could manually insert whichever object doesn't exist as a single insert, then put the ids only into the linking table, but I still don't know why when one object exists, and I make it empty, it doens't work.

    WARNING Retrying Bulk Insert for file:sqlldr due to Communication Error:256 I am running my engine on Linux and am receiving an intermittent message "WARNING Retrying bulk insert for file: sqlldr due to communication Error: 256" The engine seems to have completed successfully, but it is not clear if this error caused some of the forecast to not complete. It is also not clear what caused the error. Generally if you see only the WARNING of it, it means that next retries of the same load request have eventually succeeded and so the run a a whole is not affected. In order to know more about what happens, look for .log/.bad files left in the engines bin directory or possibly a quote of them within the specific engine log that had the issue.  The sqlnet.log file may also have some information about it and perhaps at the database server side there may be some log/alert regarding what happened.  Look at the alert.log. In general it could be that the database server/network was over loaded at the time and somehow the connection was rejected/failed/aborted either due to specific setting on concurrent connections/sessions or inadvertently due to glitch in network/os/hardware. If this repeats and becomes more frequent during the run you should look further into it as mentioned above. You can also track this using either SQL*Trace or java.util.logging.  - Globally enable logging by setting the oracle.jdbc.Trace system property java -Doracle.jdbc.Trace=true - Client Side Tracing: Your SQLNET.ORA file should contain the following lines to produce a client side trace file: trace_level_client = 10 trace_unique_client = on trace_file_client = sqlnet.trc trace_directory_client = <path_to_trace_dir> Server Side Tracing: To enable server side tracing, use the following parameters: trace_level_server = 10 trace_file_server = server.trc trace_directory_server = <path_to_trace_dir> Tracing Levels: The following values can be used for TRACE_LEVEL* parameters:     16 or SUPPORT — WorldWide Customer Support trace information     10 or ADMIN — Administration trace information     4 or USER — User trace information     0 or OFF — no tracing, the default Additional information is readily available via the web.

  • Why i disconnect every few seconds? using USB wireless adapter

    i know it's for ubuntu questions..but mint and ubuntu are very similiar and i had the same problem with linux ubuntu too..so i think this is the right place for my question anyway i don't have experience with drivers and other things,after installing Linux on my machine( i did dist-upgrade btw) everything seem to be great because i didn't have to install any driver, after a while i realized that my connection stop after few minutes(actually it shows that I'm connected but it's not) so i have to reconnect and after few minutes it disconnect again. (english, russian) work perfectly. I know it's something with character-set, but I tried all kind of settings and it didn't work. For now it's latin-1. LIKE works I'm pretty much sure that any weird language like arabic etc won't work...

Now i wanted to get the pivot table generated for it by mapping the name against districts Name CA JB MN LP Mike 3 0 0 1 Proctor 0 2 2 0 Luke 0 0 3 0 i wrote the following query for this select name,sum(if(District="CA",1,0)) as "CA",sum(if(District="JB",1,0)) as "JB",sum(if(District="MN",1,0)) as "MN",sum(if(District="LP",1,0)) as "LP" from district_details group by name However there is a possibility that the districts may increase, in that case i will have to manually edit the query again and add the new district to it. I want to know if there is a query which can dynamically take the names of distinct districts and run the above query. I know i can do it with a procedure and generating the script on the fly, is there any other method too? I ask so because the output of the query "select distinct(districts) from district_details" will return me a single column having district name on each row, which i will like to be transposed to the column.

  • index help for a MySQL query using greater-than operator and ORDER BY

    I have a table with at least a couple million rows and a schema of all integers that looks roughly like this: start stop first_user_id second_user_id The rows get pulled using the following queries: SELECT * FROM tbl_name WHERE stop >= M AND first_user_id=N AND second_user_id=N ORDER BY start ASC SELECT * FROM tbl_name WHERE stop >= M AND first_user_id=N ORDER BY start ASC I cannot figure out the best indexes to speed up these queries. The problem seems to be the ORDER BY because when I take that out the queries are fast. I've tried all different types of indexes using the standard index format: ALTER TABLE tbl_name ADD INDEX index_name (index_col_1,index_col_2,...) And none of them seem to speed up the queries. Does anyone have any idea what index would work? Also, should I be trying a different type of index? I can't guarantee the uniqueness of each row so I've avoided UNIQUE indexes. Any guidance/help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi, I am working on a script which allows users to create a stepped process. The steps will consist of sending visitors to urls where they will fill out a form then be directed to the next step the user has created. Each user can create as many steps as they wish and the url for each step will be unique. I am not sure if I am doing this in the correct/most efficient way so I have a few questions about this. Before I begin here is a simple version of my table structure: step_id user_id step_url step_order 1 1 example.com?step=1 1 2 2 test.com?step=1 1 3 1 example.com?step=3 2 A visitor will be directed to step_url: example.com?step=1 by user_id: 1 On this page there will be a form which contains a hidden field with the value of the step_id like this: <input type="hidden" name="step_id" value="1"> Once the visitor has filled out this form it will be processed by my script at a url similar to: http://mysite.com/form-process.php Once the form has been submitted I then need to direct the visitor to the next step my user has created. I would currently do this using code similar to this: SELECT step_url FROM table WHERE step_order='$current_step_order'+1 Here are my questions about this: Is this the best most efficient way to accomplish this? Or is there a better way? As the step_id column is auto increment...how would I increment the order column by 1 each time a user inserts a new step? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Paul

    I'm using full text search to pull rows. I order the rows based on score (ORDER BY SCORE) , then of the top 20 rows (LIMIT 20), I want to rand (RAND) the result set. So for any specific search term, I want to randomly show 5 of the top 20 results. My workaround is code based- where I put the top 20 into an array then randomly select 5. Is there sql way to do this?
