• .ico icons not showing up on Windows

  I followed the The Qt Resource System guide and the .ico icons appear on Linux. The icons are not showing up on Windows when I try to run the applicaton from Qt Creator. I suspect a plugin issue based on Qt/C++: Icons not showing up when program is run under windows O.S but I failed to figure out what to do from the guide How to Create Qt Plugins. Is it a plugin issue or why aren't the icons showing up on Windows? If it is a plugin issue: How do I tell my applicaton where to find the qico.dll? Details of the environment: Works on: Kubuntu 12.04 LTS, Qt Creator 2.4.1 and Qt 4.7.4 (64 bit) Fails on: Windows XP SP2 32 bit, Qt Creator 2.4.1 and Qt 4.7.4 (32 bit) Everyting is at its default (as installed out of the box), I did not mess with the settings. resources.qrc <!DOCTYPE RCC><RCC version="1.0"> <qresource> <file>images/spreadsheet.ico</file> </qresource> </RCC> Also tried with <qresource prefix="/">. From the applicaton.pro RESOURCES += \ resources.qrc OTHER_FILES += \ images/spreadsheet.ico In the corresponding source file QIcon(":/images/spreadsheet.ico") I repeat: it works on Linux.

• "Detecting" and loading of "plugins" in GAE

  Hi! I have a "plugin like" architecture and I want to create one instance of each class that implements a dedicated interface and put these in a cache. (To have a singleton-ish effect). The plugins will be provided as jars and put into the app engine war file before the app is uploaded. I have tried to use the ClassPathScanningCandidateComponentProvider as I'm using spring anyway, but this didn't work. The provider complained that it was not able to find the HttpServletResponse class file while scanning the classpath. I can't get around this, when I add the servlet jar, then I'll get of course problems, because the same jar is also provided by the GAE. If I don't, I'm getting the error above... So I tried to add a static initialization code, but of course this doesn't work, because the class is initialized when it's instantiated for the first time. (Well I knew that but it was worth a try) The last chance I currently see is that I create a properties file with all plugin classes when the package is created, but this requires writing of a maven plugin etc. and I'd like to avoid that. Is there something that I am missing?

• Installing Plugins from Cloud p2 repository in Eclipse IDE

  I have been recently reading a lot about p2 for a requirement of mine. Most of the p2 documentation online points to p2 for RCP. My requirement is for a plugin repo. I have a plugin that is used within Eclipse IDE. I dnt want to change the repo location but based on the Eclipse Version, if the user looks for Install New Software or Check for Updates it needs to download the respective plugins. My repo currently contains all the plugins for all the versions. but i need to everytime give a different URL to my user based on the Version. For e.g i am using Eclipse 3.7(Indigo). I install the plugin thru Install New Software by adding the p2 Repo URL. Now the user decides to for some requirement move to Eclipse 3.6, I want him to connect to the same p2 Repo URL and download the plugins created for Eclipse 3.6. This is definitely possible using p2 Discovery, or i could categorize the downloads using composite repository but i dnt want to do any of these. Just want to kno is there any API that i can hold on to, so that before processing the URL and finding the updates, i can check the version of Eclipse and redirect it based on the version to an internal URL. This is possible in RCP, want to kno if i can do it in Eclipse p2 UI. All the p2 UI looks to be internal classes. Any directives would be appreciated. Malai

• Checking if a function has C-linkage at compile-time

  Is there any way to check if a given function is declared with C-linkage (that is, with extern "C") at compile-time? I am developing a plugin system. Each plugin can supply factory functions to the plugin-loading code. However, this has to be done via name (and subsequent use of GetProcAddress or dlsym). This requires that the functions be declared with C-linkage so as to prevent name-mangling. It would be nice to be able to throw a compiler error if the referred-to function is declared with C++-linkage (as opposed to finding out at runtime when a function with that name does not exist). • Compiling scalafx for Java 7u7 (that contains JavaFX 2.2) on OS X

  The compilation instructions of scalafx says to do: export JAVAFX_HOME=/Path/To/javafx-sdk2.1.0-beta sbt clean compile package make-pom package-src However, with the new packaging of JavaFX as part of the Java JDK itself (i.e. 7u7 for OS X) there no longer seems to be such a 'javafx-sdkx.x.x' folder. The Oracle docs say that JavaFX JDK is placed alongside the main Java JDK (in same folders). So I do: $ export JAVAFX_HOME=/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_07.jdk $ sbt clean [warn] Using project/plugins/ (/Users/asko/Sources/scalafx/project/plugins) for plugin configuration is deprecated.   Hi, I need a little help to figure out why the following code does not work on google chrome 5/windows xp. It works well on all other browsers (IE, FF, Safri, Opera etc). • C++: Constructor/destructor unresolved when not inline?

  In a plugin-based C++ project, I have a TmpClass that is used to exchange data between the main application and the plugins. Therefore the respective TmpClass.h is included in the abstract plugin interface class that is included by the main application project, and implemented by each plugin. As the plugins work on STL vectors of TmpClass instances, there needs to be a default constructor and destructor for the TmpClass. I had declared these in TmpClass.h: class TmpClass { TmpClass(); ~TmpClass(); } and implemented them in TmpClass.cpp. TmpClass::~TmpClass() {} TmpClass::TmpClass() {} However, when compiling plugins this leads to the linker complaining about two unresolved externals - the default constructor and destructor of TmpClass as required by the std::vector<TmpClass> template instantiation - even though all other functions I declare in TmpClass.h and implement in TmpClass.cpp work. As soon as I remove the (empty) default constructor and destructor from the .cpp file and inline them into the class declaration in the .h file, the plugins compile and work. Why is it that the default constructor and destructor have to be inline for this code to compile? Why does it even maatter? (I'm using MSVC++8).

For example: Snippet public class Client { [Export] IPlugin Current { get; set; } [Import] INotificationService NotificationService; } How can I say that I want MEF to satisfy the ClientNotificationService.Plugin part with the exported IPlugin by the Client class. Basically I want the NotificationService, to receive a Unique ID provided by the importing class, whenever it is created and composed to a new class, or if there's and alternative method, like using meta data to do this I'd appreciate any insights.   I have 2 gradle projects: an Android app and a RoboSpock test. My build.gradle for the Android app has . . . dependencies { compile fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: '*.jar') compile ('com.actionbarsherlock:actionbarsherlock:4.4.0@aar') { exclude module: 'support-v4' } } . . . and builds correctly by itself, e.g assembleRelease works. I'm stuck getting the test to work. I gets lots of errors such as: package com.google.zxing does not exist Those seem to indicate that the .jar files aren't being picked up. • mvn clean install using java 1.5 or 1.6

  When I do mvn clean install, I get this error: annotations are not supported in -source 1.3 (try -source 1.5 to enable annotations) But where do I put this -source 1.5 command? I tried all permutations with mvn clean install and couldn't get it to work. • Looking for something to add some standard rules for my c++ project.

  Hello all, My team is developing a C++ project on linux. We use vim as editor. I want to enforce some code standard rules in our team in such a way that if the code is not in accordance with it, some sort of warning or error will be thrown when it builds or compiles. Not necessarily it builds but at least I can run some plugin or tools on that code to make sure it meets the standard. So that before committing to svn everyone need to run the code through some sort of plugin or script and make sure it meets the requirement and then only he/she can commit. Not sure if we can add some rules to vim, if there are any let me know about it. For eg. In our code standards all the member variables and private functions should start with _ class A{ private: int _count; float _amount; void _increment_count(){ ++_count; } } So I want to throw some warning or error or some sort of messages for this class if the variables are declared as follows. class A{ private: int count; float amount; void increment_count(){ ++_count; } } Please note that warning and error are not from compiler becoz program is still valid. Its from the tool I want to use so that code goes to re-factoring but still works fine on the executable side. I am looking for some sort of plugin or pre parsers or scripts which will help me in achieving all this. Currently we use svn; just to anser the comment.

• PHP IDE for Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10

  I've installed Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my netbook and I'm wondering what would be a good IDE to use for mainly PHP development. I've used Komodo Edit in past Linux distributions but it doesn't seem to play well with Ubuntu Network Remix (it doesn't shows up in the remix "desktop", and I don't feel like opening the terminal and typing komodo every time I need to code). I'm considering Eclipse with a PHP plugin, but I've two big problems with Eclipse: I don't like the way it forces me to create a new project when I just want to edit a file. I'm not sure which PHP plugin I should install: Eclipse PDT, PHP Eclipse or Aptana - I don't really understand the differences between Eclipse PDT and PHP Eclipse. Which IDE would you recommend (doesn't need to be Eclipse)? Thanks in advance!

• How can I make check_nrpe wait for my remote script to finish executing?

  I have a python script that's being used as a plugin for NRPE. This script checks to see if a process if running on a virtual machine by doing an SSH one-liner with a "ps ax | grep process" attached. When executing the script manually, it works as expected and returns a single line of output for NRPE as well as a status based on whether or not the process is running. When I attempt to run the command setup to execute this script (from my Nagios server), I instantly get the output "NRPE: Unable to read output", however when I run the script manually it takes about a second before it returns output. Other commands run just fine, so it would seem like NRPE needs to wait a second or two for output rather than instantly failing, but I've been unable to find any way of accomplishing this; any tips? Thanks PS: The virtual machines are not accessible from anywhere other than the host machine, hence the need for the nrpe plugin to ssh from the host into the VM to check the process.

  Hey folks, I am attempting to work with XML-RPC via PHP on a GoDaddy server. This same server is hosting a Wordpress Blog that makes use of XML-RPC and is functioning, though that may be unrelated... Whenever I attempt to use any functions that are integrated into PHP for use with XML-RPC, I get an error (function list here: http://us3.php.net/manual/en/ref.xmlrpc.php) e.g.: Fatal error: Class 'xmlrpc_client' not found Is this because XML-RPC's PHP functions are not enabled on my server? If so, how do I go about enabling those - it would seem I would have to install the XML-RPC library to do so and of course I cannot do that on a shared server. Doesn't Wordpress use the same batch of XML-RPC functions though (it works fine)? I think I have managed to thoroughly confuse myself. I have zero experience with XML-RPC.

But I'm starting to get confused on what's really going on or if socket vs TCP is even the issue. Thanks in advance and I'm open for any tips and suggestions!
