• Alignment for image display on hover works only in IE7?

  Hello, I tried to display a image when a mouseover on text occurs. It works fine. And the alignment of the image should be shown such that the end of the image should be at the container. It works fine with the code shown below, Only in IE7. In everything, it gets chopped off.. • Image on mouseover takes space on PageLoad.

  Hello, I am trying to show an image on Mouseover and hide it on Mouseout. I am successful in mouseover and mouseout but the image is actually taking the space around the text though i have visibility as hidden.. The text is surrounded with the space of image but the image is displayed on mouseover. • Problem understanding Inheritance

  I've been racking my brains over inheritance for a while now, but am still not completely able to get around it. For example, the other day I was thinking about relating an Infallible Human and a Fallible Human. Let's first define the two: Infallible Human: A human that can never make a mistake. It's do_task() method will never throw an exception Fallible Human: A human that will occasionally make a mistakes. It's do_task() method may occasionally throw a ErrorProcessingRequest Exception The question was: IS an infallible human A fallible human OR IS a fallible human AN infallible human? The very nice answer I received was in the form of a question (I love these since it gives me rules to answer future questions I may have). "Can you pass an infallible human where a fallible human is expected OR can you pass a fallible human where an infallible human is expected?" It seems apparent that you can pass an infallible human where a fallible human is expected, but not the other way around. I guess that answered my question. However, it still feels funny saying "An infallible human is a fallible human". Does anyone else feel queasy when they say it? It almost feels as if speaking out inheritance trees is like reading out statements from propositional calculus in plain English (the if/then implication connectives don't mean the same as that in spoken English). Does anyone else feel the same?

• Force calling the derived class implementation within a generic function in C#?

  Ok so I'm currently working with a set of classes that I don't have control over in some pretty generic functions using these objects. Instead of writing literally tens of functions that essentially do the same thing for each class I decided to use a generic function instead. Now the classes I'm dealing with are a little weird in that the derived classes share many of the same properties but the base class that they are derived from doesn't. One such property example is .Parent which exists on a huge number of derived classes but not on the base class and it is this property that I need to use. For ease of understanding I've created a small example as follows: class StandardBaseClass {} // These are simulating the SMO objects class StandardDerivedClass : StandardBaseClass { public object Parent { get; set; } } static class Extensions { public static object GetParent(this StandardDerivedClass sdc) { return sdc.Parent; } public static object GetParent(this StandardBaseClass sbc) { throw new NotImplementedException("StandardBaseClass does not contain a property Parent"); } // This is the Generic function I'm trying to write and need the Parent property. public static void DoSomething<T>(T foo) where T : StandardBaseClass { object Parent = ((T)foo).GetParent(); } } In the above example calling DoSomething() will throw the NotImplemented Exception in the base class's implementation of GetParent(), even though I'm forcing the cast to T which is a StandardDerivedClass. This is contrary to other casting behaviour where by downcasting will force the use of the base class's implementation. I see this behaviour as a bug. Has anyone else out there encountered this?

• Create table class as a singleton

  I got a class that I use as a table. This class got an array of 16 row classes. These row classes all have 6 double variables. The values of these rows are set once and never change. Would it be a good practice to make this table a singleton? The advantage is that it cost less memory, but the table will be called from multiple threads so I have to synchronize my code which way cause a bit slower application. However lookups in this table are probably a very small portion of the total code that is executed. EDIT: This is my code, are there better ways to do this or is this a good practice? • How to use CellRenderer for GregorianCalendar?

  So I have been trying to use the example from Tutorial and change it so it fits my program. The getColumnValue method returns the object that holds the information that is supposed to be displayed. Is this the way to go or should it rather return the actual String to be displayed.   I asked about this array a little while ago, and I can't see what the problem is. Too tired. What have I done wrong? Basically, I am taking a string array and trying to check to see if it contains numbers or an x (ISBN number validation). • self-destructing objects in php5?

  I am working on a class in php that is basically an interface to a database row. I wanted to create a delete() method that would 1. delete the database row and 2. destroy the instance of itself so that further attempts to manipulate the row via the object would throw warnings. Doing some googling, it seems that, in php5, it's not possible for an object to unset itself. http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=36971 In fact they discuss the very situation I was wanting to do :( So how should I proceed? I could make boolean flag as a class property, for whether the row still exists, and have each operation check that flag and throw an error if the row has been deleted. This maintains the oo structure of code, so I would have $objDbRow->delete(); But then I have to put checks at the beginning of each method. Or, I could implement a __destruct method that deletes the row. But that would seem counter-intuitive to me; if I saw in code unset($objDbRow); All I would suspect that's happening is that the object is being discarded, not that a row is being deleted. So that to me would seem like bad practice.

• Checking if a function has C-linkage at compile-time [unsolvable]

  Is there any way to check if a given function is declared with C-linkage (that is, with extern "C") at compile-time? I am developing a plugin system. Each plugin can supply factory functions to the plugin-loading code. However, this has to be done via name (and subsequent use of GetProcAddress or dlsym). This requires that the functions be declared with C-linkage so as to prevent name-mangling. It would be nice to be able to throw a compiler error if the referred-to function is declared with C++-linkage (as opposed to finding out at runtime when a function with that name does not exist).   Hi, My W2K3 server was running TFS 2008 SP1, SQL Server 2005 Development edition. I installed SQL Server 2008 Standard. I installed it while leaving SQL Server 2005 alone. Upgrading was not possible due to the differences in editions of the SQL Servers. Now TFS is broken. • Watchguard Firewall WebBlocker Regular Expression for Multiple Domains?

  I'm pretty sure this is really a regex question, so you can skip to REGEX QUESTION if you want to skip the background. Our primary firewall is a Watchguard X750e running Fireware XTM v11.2. We're using webblocker to block most of the categories, and I'm allowing needed sites as they arise. Some sites are simple to add as exceptions, like Pandora radio. That one is just a pattern matched exception with "padnora.com/" as the pattern. All traffic from anywhere on pandora.com is allowed. I'm running into trouble on more sophisticated domains that reference content off of their base domains. We'll take GrooveShark as a sample. If you go to http://grooveshark.com/ and view page source, you'll see hrefs referring to gs-cdn.net as well as grooveshar.com. So adding a WebBlocker exception to grooveshark.com/ is not effective, and I have to add a second rule allowing gs-cdn.net/ as well. I see that the WebBlocker allows regex rules, so what I'd like to do in situations like this is create a single regex rule that allows traffic to all the needed domains. REGEX QUESTION: I'd like to try a regex that matches grooveshark.com/ and gs-cdn.net/. If anybody can help me write that regex, I'd appreciate it. Here is what is in the WatchGuard documentation from that section: Regular expression Regular expression matches use a Perl-compatible regular expression to make a match. For example, .[onc][eor][gtm] matches .org, .net, .com, or any other three-letter combination of one letter from each bracket, in order. Be sure to drop the leading “http://” Supports wild cards used in shell script.   I have a very simple website running PHP and SQLite 3.7.9 (with PDO). After establishing the SQLite connection I immediately execute the following queries: PRAGMA busy_timeout=0; PRAGMA cache_size=8192; PRAGMA foreign_keys=ON; PRAGMA journal_size_limit=67110000; PRAGMA legacy_file_format=OFF; PRAGMA page_size=4096; PRAGMA recursive_triggers=ON; PRAGMA secure_delete=ON; PRAGMA synchronous=NORMAL; PRAGMA temp_store=MEMORY; PRAGMA journal_mode=WAL; PRAGMA wal_autocheckpoint=4096; This website only has one writer and a few occasional readers, so I don't expect any concurrency problems (and I'm even using WAL). Every couple of days, I've seen this error being reported by PHP: Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PDOException' with message 'SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 10 disk I/O error' in ... Stack trace: #0 ...: PDO-exec('PRAGMA cache_si...') There are several things that make this error very weird to me: it's not a transient problem - no matter how many times I refresh the page, it won't go away the database file is not corrupted - the sqlite3 executable can open the database without problems If the following pragmas are commented out, PHP stops throwing the disk I/O exception: PRAGMA cache_size=8192; PRAGMA synchronous=NORMAL; PRAGMA journal_mode=WAL; Then, after successfully reconnecting to the database, I'm able to reintroduce these pragmas and the code with run smoothly for days - until eventually, the same error will occur without any apparent reason. I wasn't able to reproduce this error so far, so I'm clueless about the origin of it. I'm really curious what may be causing this problem... Any ideas? • Exchange 2010 add mailbox server to DAG error

  Hello, i'm having some problems when adding a second mailbox server to my DAG in Exchange 2010. The test setup goes like this: 1x windows server 2008 (DC/DNS) 2x windows server 2008 (Exchange 2010) I have made sure all services are up and running and that the "Exchange Trusted Subsystem" account is set as a local admin. When i create a DAG i can add the first mailbox server (A) without any problems, but when i go to add the second (B) it gives me an error saying "Unable to contact the Cluster service on 1 other members (member) of the Database availability group. It does the same if i add (B) first and then try to add (A). These errors always happen accessing a file share on a SAN. The fact that this error has happened with multiple applications and multiple servers leads me to believe that this is an infrastructure issue of some sort. The applications all run under the same domain account. When the errors occur they generally will resolve themselves within a few minutes. I can log in to the application server once the error starts occurring and access the file share myself with no problems. I have looked at the Windows event logs and haven't found anything useful.   Basically, my question is "Does this combo work for anyone," and, "Can you see what I am doing wrong" I have installed 64 bit ODBC driver for sqlite, downloaded from this page. I am running powershell version 2 on window 7. In ODBC configuration I create a system DSN with name LoveBoat, pointing at a valid file. I don't have any "real" apps to test whether the ODBC connection works, but a simple program I list below works.   Hi, We have migrated our db from sql2000 win server 2k to sql2008 win server 2k8. We have linked server from sql2000 win server 2k. By our opinion the problem is with DTC and we have made a lot of setting that we found as solution for our problem, but still the problem exist. There is no any error or worning or information niether in the sql log nor in win event viewer. The application is hanging out and at the end the time out exception is shown. What we have done till now: Enable Network DTC Access with inbound and outbound with No Authentication Required on win 2k8 We have opened RPC dynamic port allocation through registry on 2k and 2k8 We have entered subkey TurnOffRpcSecurity in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSDTC and made it enable on 2k and 2k8 We have added exception for DTC in firewall for all entities What we have notice that when we restart SQL service and make the first try for our transaction the following is shown: "Attempting to initialize Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC). This is an informational message only. • authbind, privbind or iptables REDIRECT (port 80 to 8080)?

  Hi, I'd like to run Glassfish v3 as a non-privileged user on Linux (Debian), but make it available on port 80. I'm currently doing this with iptables: iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -p tcp -d x.x.x.x --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port 8080 This works, but I wonder: If this has any significant performance impact compared to binding directly to port 80 If I could make a similar setup also work for HTTPS (or if that must run on 443) If there's a way to avoid other users from binding to port 8080 (in case my server crashes) - maybe block that port permanently to other users somehow? ...or if I should use authbind/privbind instead? Problem: I couldn't make it work with authbind or privbind so far. For authbind, I edited asadmin's last line to: exec authbind --deep "$JAVA" -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar ... For privbind: exec privbind -u glassfish "$JAVA" -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar ... (Only) with these settings, I can successfully perform a create-domain --domainport 80. This proves, that authbind and privbind actually work (the authbind version of the script is called by the glassfish user; the privbind version is called by root of course). However, in both cases I get the following exception, when starting the domain (start-domain): [#|2010-03-20T13:25:21.925+0100|SEVERE|glassfishv3.0|javax.enterprise.system.core.com.sun.enterprise.v3.server|_ThreadID=11;_ThreadName=FelixStartLevel;|Shutting down v3 due to startup exception : Permission denied: 80=com.sun.enterprise.v3.services.impl.monitor.MonitorableSelectorHandler@1fc25e5|#] I haven't found a solution for that yet (after searching the web, it seems, that this isn't so easy?) • python mysqldb - mysql server gone away - can't reconnect

  Hi Folks, When attempting to import a bunch of data into mysql tables using python and mysqldb, I run into the following error '2006 - mySQL Server has gone away', and then I am unable to reconnect again within the script. I am iniitially re-using a connection object across transactions ( delineated by conn.commit() ), then when I first encounter this exception, if I create a new connection by calling MySQLdb.connect(), this new connection also fails with the same exception. This error does not occur immediately, I can pump a fair amount of data into the db, but then faithfully occurs after I have inserted a couple thousand records, so roughly once the db has committed a certain transaction volume, it always falls over like this. If I rerun the script, WITHOUT restarting the db server. then it resumes where it left off, pumps in some data, then falls over again. Before recommendations to change time-out timings, does anyone know why I am not able to establish a new connection after the initial failure ? - Even if I try a couple of times waiting a couple of seconds between each. (btw, I'm running Windows 7, mysql server 5.1.48, mysqldb 1.2.3.gamma.1, python 2.6)

• How do I fix libdispatch problem crashing Mac OS X apps?

  In the last day I have started having a lot of brokenness on my Mac (MacBook Air running Mac OS X 10.6.2 with all software updates). Most noticably, iTunes no longer syncs with my iPhone. It fails with a crash dialog reporting "AppleMobileDeviceHelper quit unexpectedly" and an error dialog "iTunes was unable to load dataclass information from SyncServices. Reconnect or try again later." I've attempted the fix at support.apple.com/kb/HT1747 but it failed. I've also been having problems (at first seemingly unrelated) with the horrible Cisco VPN client, which started giving me this error: Error 51: Unable to communicate with the VPN subsystem I followed the steps at www.anders.com/cms/192/CiscoVPN/Error.51:.Unable.to.communicate.with.the.VPN.subsystem which don't seem to work for me, although I can connect if I use the command line with sudo : sudo vpnclient connect MyProfile I had a look in the Console app at the diagnostic messages and I noticed a pattern, that a number of apps were reporting "BUG IN CLIENT OF LIBDISPATCH". The affected programs are: AppleMobileBackup AppleMobileDeviceHelper Safari Webpage Preview Fetcher cvpnd (the Cisco VPN daemon) Of these, only the last is non-Apple software! The common text in the diagnostic messages is: Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000 Crashed Thread: 1 Dispatch queue: com.apple.libdispatch-manager Application Specific Information: BUG IN CLIENT OF LIBDISPATCH: Do not close random Unix descriptors I'm beginning to wonder if there's a permissions problem, or corruption of an important library, ... I should note that I've rebooted several times and verified the disk permissions and the disk. Any help would be great!
