  • OutOfMemoryException, stack size is huge, large number of threads

    Hello, I was profiling my .net windows service. I was trying to discover OutOfMemoryException and discovered that my stack size is huge and is growing because the the number of threads keeps growing. Each thread gets 1024 KB on Windows x64 machine. Thus when my app has 754 threads the stack size would be 772 MB. The problem for me is that i don't know where these thread come from. Initially my app has a very limited number of threads and they keep growing with time. I have two suspicions - either these threads are created by WCF or by database connection. My application uses both WCF and datasets. Also I tried to profile my app in Ants do Trace i can see large number of System.ServiceModel.Channels.ClientReliableDuplexSessionChannel and this number is increasing with time. I can see thousands of these objects created. So what I want to know is who is creating threads (tools to discover, profilers) and if it is WCF who is creating these threads.

  • increasing amazon root volume size

    I have a default amazon ec2 instance with 8GB root volume size. I am running out of space. I have: Detach the current EBS volume in AWS Management Console (Web). Create snapshot of this volume. Created a new Volume with 50G space with my snapshot. Attach the new volume back to the instance to /dev/sda1 However, when I reconnect to the account with: > df -h I can see from the management console that my new Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/xvda1 8256952 8173624 0 100% / tmpfs 308508 40 308468 1% /dev/shm It's still not using my new volume's size, how to make this work?

  • How to know preferred icon size for MenuItem?

    Hi folks, I my application I have one large PNG file containg hi-res image. Depending on situation I would like to use this image either as icon or as placeholder for ImageView. For MenuItem this image is too large, so I need to scale-down it to suitable size. I mean if it has to be displayed on large enough device like Samsung Galaxy Tab - I need to use one scale, for in small ones another, etc. I just noticed that for small-sized devices MenuItem icon is not scaled just cut - which is ugly. So the question is how should detect which is preferred size?

  • Why does bold monoface shift vertically on Windows?

    In Firefox 3.6, IE7 and Opera 10 on Windows, this HTML has an odd behavior: <html><head></head> <style> span { font-family: monospace; background-color: green; } span.b { font-weight: bold; } </style> <body> <span>Text</span><span class="b">Text</span><span>Text</span> </body> </html> The bold span in the middle is shifted down by one pixel.   • Changing the size of the UISearchBar TextField ?

    I have a UITableView with an Index on the side; I want to add a UISearchBar to it, but the index overlaps with the "x" to clear the search. I've noticed in the Contacts application, the textfield within the UISearchBar is resized to accommodate this, but I can't work out how to do this in my own app. I have tried the following in my viewDidLoad, but it does not seem to work. UITextField * textField = (UITextField *)[[self.search subviews] objectAtIndex:0]; CGRect r = textField.frame; [textField setFrame:CGRectMake(r.origin.x, r.origin.y, r.size.height, r.size.width-30)]; Any ideas?

  • Dynamically changing background color of specific text without changing other attributes

    I've written a chrome extension to find text on a page based on a regex query. When text is matched, I wrap the matched text in a <span> tag that has the class highlight where highlight only changes the background color to yellow. The issue is that sometimes there are already styles applied to <span> tags in a webpage. For example, the webpage might have this defined: span { font-size: 200%; } So when I insert my <span> tag in another <span> tag, the font-size is actually 400%. Is there an easy way for my code to just change certain properties of the text, like the background color, without applying the webpage's styles twice?

  • Shared library to minimise size of FLA file

    In a project we use large flash FLA file with lots of graphic assets, but the actual data that is changed is just in a few symbols. Sometimes it is not very efficient to transfer the whole FLA file that comes up to 20MB now. I was thinking about using Shared Libraries, but it seems that, even if you import external library, it still copies the whole assets into the destination file, but does not link it from external file. Consequently, size of the FLA file still remains the same. Is there any way to split FLA files into few separate in order to minimise size of the most frequently updated file and keep all unchanged data in another file?

  • c# RichTextBox Tab size

    Hello, I'm using System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox and by default the tab size is 8 spaces. The RichTextBox itself is not that big and 8 spaces leads to a lot of scrolling. Is there any way to make it 4 spaces. If it matters, the control is initially blank and the user starts entering stuff and the tabs have to shorter (4 spaces) as the user enters text with tabs. I tried http://stackoverflow.com/questions/154204/modifying-default-tab-size-in-richtextbox and a few variations of it but no luck.

I have the color and the font right, but I have unwanted spaces between the list elements and the a and the a:hover sizes should be the same.   • Is It Possible To Self-Teach PHP, Wordpress, CentOS (Linux), Apache, Nginx etc?

    consider me a total noob, who uses a Windows PC and has never touched Linux. But I want to administer, manage and take responsibility of my server, at least at some point, if not now. But since I am a full-time blogger I am unable to find time to study at an institute. So, here is my question — - Is It Possible To Self-Teach HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Wordpress, CentOS (or for that matter any Linux distro), Apache, Nginx, and Varnish? Yes, beginning with HTML, absolutely all of them. I might seem overly ambitious and foolish, but I just want to do it. Aren't there any self-taught server admins? (1) Please help me out with the names of good books, links and whatever you can. (2) How long would it take me to get there (approximately)? 3 years? 5 years? (I have good touch with HTML & Wordpress.) This is a great community, I hope at least some of you will shoot some suggestions at me.

  • Oracle - Determine maximum supported size for regular expression

    I have a regular expression that throws ORA-12733, "regular expression is too long". How do I determine what the maximum supported size is? FYI: the offending regex is 892 characters. It's a generated regex, so I could change how I generate and execute it, but I would like to know what the limits to the max size are before I change how I am generating and executing.     I have a span text block inside a paragraph. Inside this span block I have two paragraph breaks. On webkit, the browser renders the first paragraph correctly but fails back to browser default settings on the last two. Why? <style type="text/css"> span.post-content { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; } </style> <p><span class="post-content"> Some text here <p/> From here text loses style and adopts browser default <p/> same here </span></p> This works in all browsers except Webkit based ones: chrome and safari.
