  I am using CoreOS to schedule systemd units with fleet. I have two units (firehose.service and firehose-announce.service. I am trying to get the firehose-announce.service to start and stop along with the firehose.service. • Why can't I connect to my home SSH (SFTP) server? What am I doing wrong?

  I am new to this topic of creating a SFTP server on one's computer. I would like to be able to access the folder on my Windows XP computer via SFTP from another computer or a phone. The following is what I have done so far: I have installed SSH Windows and everything is setup correctly because I can access it (the folder on my pc) via WinSCP. I however cannot access it from my phone. It doesn't connect. The phone can be on the same wireless network as the Windows XP computer, but I would prefer to be able to access this when not in the same network. Now, from what I have read and understood, the following is the information needed to connect: 1) Host Name: This would be my computer's ip address which I access by typing ipconfig in a cmd prompt (I access this easily on my computer because I simply put in localhost or 127.0.0.1) 2) Port Number: That would be port 22 (I have also added this to my router in the port forwarding section). 3) Username: This would be my Windows XP username. This however is my full name, including my middle initial followed by a period. I am wondering if this is maybe causing problems in accessing it from my phone, since the name has spaces and punctuation (the period). 4) Password: The password of my Windows XP computer Extra Info: When I say phone, I mean an Android phone and I am using an ftp / sftp app to access my pc via the phone's cellular network (I also tried the wireless, but that didn't work as well). I have tried more than one program. On one program it tells me Connection timed out and on another it tells me "timeout:socket is not established" Also, I know that I can use the site noip, but I prefer to connect this way first. Also, because I am new to this, I would like to look into what exactly noip is doing and if they would be seeing my files as they are transferred from phone to pc. • Sudo won't execute command as another user

  I'm trying to get a unicorn server to start when the server boots. Now I get the following error sudo: unicorn_rails: command not found I've searched high and low to what could cause this, but I'm afraid I've tapped my limited understanding of Linux. From what I can understand is that although sudo should use the ubuntu user to execute the commands, it still uses the environment of the root user, which isn't configured to run ruby or unicorn. Does anybody have any experience with this?

• Nvidia 9800GT randomly prevents computer from booting

  My computer has been running Windows and Linux perfectly fine with my 9800GT for the past year or so, but today it refused to boot. When I press the power button, this is what happens: Power button flashes once. Fans whir. Graphics card makes clicking noise. Computer reboots. Go back to 1. The cycle just keeps going, and I have to yank the cord to make the computer stop. After about 30 attempts at booting it, the computer powers on and everything works. I'm pretty sure that the graphics card isn't malfunctioning, as I've been GPU computing on it for a while now without any hiccups. But the strange thing is, the computer boots perfectly fine in only 5 boots if I remove the card. The computer is a HP Pavilion a6028x Desktop PC: Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 (W) 4600+ 2.4 GHz (AM2 socket) Motherboard: ECS MCP61PM-HM (Nettle 1) RAM: 3GB DDR2 (two different brands) More specs here Does anybody know what could be the problem? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated!

• HAProxy appsession vs cookie precedence

  I am trying to find the best solution for balancing and keeping persistence on our application behind HAProxy. Here is our basic configuration: https://gist.github.com/endzyme/1804046b23c37beba520 After playing around with taking members down and up and also reloading the haproxy (with -sf) I have noticed that appsession isn't 100% effective, it would appear that sometimes it doesn't always 'request-learn'. I also tried to add a cookie JSESSION prefix to balance in case request-learn didn't take. Unfortunately it would present scenarios where the prefix would list svr2 but it was balanced to a different server. I am assuming it's because the appsession table takes first then sticks on that before using the cookie parameter. I have not tested with using cookie as an inserted option (not prefix on existing cookie) but I am thinking it would yield similar results. My question is: Which one is checked first, appsession or cookie, and is it an immediate catch after it reads the first one, or a fall through? Also as a follow up - is it not recommended to use both in the same backend? Cookie as I understand takes less memory resources, is agnostic to reloads and has way better reliability of persistence. Appsession I assume takes less cpu resource, since it's reading not writing. (Bonus Question: is there a way to inspect appsession/cookie table map? socket show table doesn't show anything except stick-tables) Many thanks in advance, -Nick

• Fixing bent pins on a CPU

  While replacing a mainboard in a desktop machine (see related question), I did something stupid. I inserted the CPU into the new mainboard, but didn't check for the right position. When it didn't immediately lock in, I pressed slightly before realizing what was wrong. The result was a number of bent pins. I tried every tutorial that popped up when Googling "CPU bent pins" - using credit cards, sewing needles, and a hunting knife to get the pins back into position - but to no avail: For every pin I get straightened out, two others are bent. I have no problem getting individual pins straightened out, but my many attempts have led to many pins being slightly askew - enough for the CPU not to fit into the socket (An AMD X3 one). Maybe I just lack the motoric finesse. What I would need is some sort of a grid to fix all pins at once. It's a €50 processor so the loss is not catastrophic. But I thought before I go buy a new one, I thought I'd check here whether anybody knows some magic trick, or a cheap generally-available tool to fix this.

• File gone or altered after MySQL[HY000][2002] error [on hold]

  I'm working on a rather small project, and today I got an SQLSTATE[HY000][2002]:Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' error. After a bit of googling and a few attempts to restart the mysqld service, I gave up and tried rebooting the computer. This did the trick, MySQL was now running fine. I did, however, get a more serious issue: Some files were missing, others were altered. Also, a few posts in the MySQL was gone. It's really strange, it's like the whole project has been reset two or three days, and I have no clue why. Some additional details about this: I save my files after every line of code. I'm religious about this. So I haven't lost the files that way. I was accessing the server via SSH when the error occurred, so I did the programming and the reboot over SSH. The server is a Raspberry Pi, model B, with Raspian on which I run Apache2. I was viewing the site and had an active session when I rebooted the system. The pages I lost did work just before this all happened. The MySQL fault occurred when I tried to add a text NOT NULL column to a table which had entries. Now, the amount of lost work isn't really that much, so I'm not really looking for help recovering the files. The reason I'm posting this is because I wonder how did this happen, and why?

• Problem with bluetooth on android 2.1 (samsung spica i5700) where pairing works but connection does

  I have a Samsung Spica i5700 which I already have updated to Android 2.1. I am using the phone with an application called Run.GPS (http://www.rungps.net). This application logs data such as GPS position, route, speed, bearing etc. It can also log heartrate provided the user has a Zephyr HxM bluetooth heart rate monitor ("HxM"), which I do have. I can pair the HxM to the phone through the standard bluetooth utility. I'm prompted for the PIN, which I enter and the device is shown as 'Paired but not connected'. In the Run.GPS application itself, I click on 'Connect Heartrate Monitor'. This times out after about 30 seconds and the error message is 'Could not connect to heartrate monitor. Please try other settings'. I used a friend's HTC Windows Mobile as a control device to see if the HxM works there. It does. The Run.GPS application automatically sets the baud rate (initially to 9600 IIRC, though the connection also worked with higher baud rates) and it is possible to choose between various COM ports as well as a .Net COM port. I did some testing on my Spica Android, to try to find out why the bluetooth connection doesn't work. Below are some log files that I connected over adb when I clicked on 'Connect to Heartrate Monitor' in the Run.GPS application. I would be interested in any tips (including if I'm posting to the wrong forum here ;-)) - whether or not it's possible to experiment with the baud rate in Android etc. I still don't know if the problem is with the Run.GPS application (I've posted already on the development forum there) or with Android 2.1. I checked out another application - Endomondo - which is also a sport tracking application which supports heartrate monitor only with the HxM. There, what looked like exactly the same error occurred - I clicked on 'Connect Zephyr HxM'. For a few seconds I was shown the 'Connecting...' status, but then it timed out into 'Not Connected'. I'm thus tending towards looking at Android for the problem.   I am following the accepted answer of ASP.NET MVC How to pass JSON object from View to Controller as Parameter. Like the original question, I have a simple POCO. Everthing works fine for me up until the DataContractJsonSerializer.ReadObject method. I am getting the following exception: Expecting element 'root' from namespace ''.. • WCF NetTcpBinding Buffered vs Streamed performance problems

  I wrote a WCF service that should transform any size of files, using the Streamed TransferMode in NetTcpBinding, and System.IO.Stream object. When running performance test, i found significant performance problem. Then I decided to test it with Buffered TransferMode and saw that performance is two times faster! Because my service should transfer big files, i just can't stay in Buffered TransferMode because of memory management overhead on big files at the server and client side together. Why is Streamed TransferMode slower than the Buffered TransferMode? What can i do to make Stremed performance better?

• Error adding certificate to cacerts. Unknown key spec

  I am using jdk 1.6 in Windows. I have a .der file (DER Encoded X509 Certificate) that will like to add to my cacerts file... so I tried the following: keytool -import -keystore "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_27\jre\lib\security\cacerts" -trustcacerts -alias openldap -file "C:\cacert.der" I got the following error: java.security.cert.CertificateParsingException: java.io.IOException: subject key, java.security.spec.InvalidKeySpecException: Unknown key spec At first, I thoght it was a problemen with the der certificate, but then doing the following I got exactly the same error: keytool -list -keystore "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_27\jre\lib\security\cacerts" Any ideas why is this problem appearing? I have not found anything in the Web. Thanks in advance.

• TeamCity GitHub Private Key Access Denied

  Does anyone know of a tutorial for using TeamCity with github with ssh private keys. I have tried to set up git hub to connect and I either get a authentication error or get access denied. I am running TeamCity on Windows 2003. I am running the build agent as a custom account. I am running the web server under the administrator account. I have create a key for the custom account and administrator account. I now get an error that: The connection test failed: com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.ssh (Access is denied) If anyone has successfully set this up please help. I am going on 3 hours into this and want to get it solved. Thanks.

  I am trying to import a KPI from Analysis Services into a PerformancePoint Scorecard, and when I do, The Dashboard Designer throws an error: An unknown error has occurred. If the problem persists contact an administrator. There may be additional information in the server application event log. When I examine the event log, I find the following exception: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.AnalysisServices, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. File name: 'Microsoft.AnalysisServices, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' at Microsoft.PerformancePoint.Scorecards.Server.ImportExportHelper.GetImportableAsKpis(IBpm pmService, DataSource asDataSource) at Microsoft.PerformancePoint.Scorecards.Server.PmServer.GetImportableAsKpis(DataSource dataSource) I have found this thread which recommends reinstalling Microsoft ADOMD.NET but the installer for that won't run because the server already has a newer version of the product (The server is running SQL Server Analysis Services 2008 which includes Microsoft.AnalysisServices.AdomdClient.dll version 9.0.3042.0) Anyone have any ideas (short of finding the DLL myself and manually installing it to the GAC)?

• AVR sbi command - Error: number must be positive and less than 32

  I've spent a good while getting my AVR development system set up with the full GCC tool chain (everything is the most recent current stable version) and I have solved most issues with it but one. This following code gives me an error which I just don't get. The AVR assembly manual states that the sbi instruction can accept 0-7 as a constant expression but it still errors out on me. Any thoughts what is going on here ?
