  How can I set the default namespace of an existing XDocument (so I can deserialize it with DataContractSerializer). I tried the following: var doc = XDocument.Parse("<widget/>"); var attrib = new XAttribute("xmlns", "http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/Widgets"); doc.Root.Add(attrib); The exception I get is is The prefix '' cannot be redefined from '' to 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/Widgets' within the same start element tag. Any ideas?

• documentation for a package in php?

  so in a folder PayPal i've got multiple classes for using their API. i want to make a documentation for how to use all the classes in a sequential way. so here is my questions: how do i create a package for them? cause above each class i used phpdoc tag @package PayPal. is a package in php just a folder? where do i put documentation for the package? there are best practices for this? a file in the folder named ...? how to put class- or package-specific examples, eg. step 1 bla bla, step 2 bla bla? thanks!

• How does one suppress a 404 status code in a page?

  I've got a WordPress site that includes pages pulled from a different database. The problem is that these other pages return a 404 status code. (The WordPress posts/pages are fine.) The 404'ed pages display fine, and I removed the "Page not Found" text from the title tag in WordPress. But Googlebot and W3C see the 404 header. So: wow does one tell Apache to suppress a 404 status? And will Apache override WordPress's 404 header? Does that make sense? What other info and things should I be looking at? Can I suppress the status code in .htaccess so I don't change WP core files?

• How to use JQuery to truncate the contents of option tags?

  Hello! Please take a look here: http://www.binarymark.com/Products/FLVDownloader/order.aspx What I am trying to do is to get rid of the prices inside the option tag. On that page you can see a drop-down box under Order Information, Product. I want to remove the prices from all the options that contain them in that box, so get rid of " - $75.98" for example. I am not used to JQuery, but I realize it would be possible - just not sure how to do it, so your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. George

  I'm taking over a codeigniter project and notice the original dev uses a mixture of short tag and php tags in the views. For example: <div id="content"> <?=show_header()?> <ul id="products"> <?php if (count($products) > 0) : ?> <?php foreach($products as $product) : ?> ... </div> Is this bad practice to inherit? I think it is already causing me problems in my dev environment.

• Can any JavaScript library perform as well as the Cut The Rope JavaScript implementation?

  Now that the canvas tag is starting to get hardware execration [acceleration - thanks guys!] by many browsers, developing casual games in HTML5 is becoming more feasible. ZeptoLabs did a great job porting Cut The Rope to HTML5 for use as a Windows 8 Metro App. You can find some of the details here but they do not get into specifics. I was wondering if anyone knew if they used a library (such as Impact or Crafty) or if you need to write all custom and optimized JavaScript code in order to get this type of performance. Thanks!

  Not sure why I can't figure this out. When a user makes a selection, a javascript method is called, at which point I want to add a calendardateselect to an existing div tag from the javascript.   I'm developing a new object oriented scripting language and the project itself is quite ready for audience now, so i'm starting to think about a serious (not as "drafty" as it is right now) way of document its grammar, functions from standard library and standard library classes. I've looked a bit around and almost every language hash its own web application for the documentation, Python uses Sphinx for instance. Which is the best PHP (don't have the time/will to install mod_who_knows_what on my server) application to accomplish this? I've used mediawiki a bit but i found its tag system a little bit hard to use in this context. Thanks for your answers.

• Android views' borders issue on some devices

  Hi there, Some users have been reporting border alignment issues on some android components such as the alert popup or the editTexts. This is happening on the Samsung Galaxy Apollo (200x400) and the HTC Pro Touch (480x640) devices. I cannot replicate that because i don't own those devices and in the Samsung Galaxy S and emulator everything looks just right. I think that the problem is the dpi or resolution of the device (because the edittext background is a single .9.png so image should look ok); however I am not sure if the supports-screens tag is the solution. Also, application was developed using Api 3 (v1.5) and supports-screens was not yet supported, nor the screen-size resource qualifier. The style used for the alerts and editText is the phone default. Could the problem be something related with the theme applied to the phone by the user? • CSS Issue in Firefox/IE

  I'm working on a site's CSS and am running across an issue with the body margin section. If you look at this in Firefox and then IE, you can see the line isn't lined up right in Firefox, but it is in IE. (In the black header section).   Hi, As I am using Ruby on Rails to build an application, which only runs locally, I am lost in the woods (a nuby without a compass). I have a simple MVC application and my view is missing one thing I could really use. I want to select a local file just to retrieve it's filename. I know it's relatively easy to use the form tag helpers for uploading: <%= file_field 'upload', 'datafile' %></p> I wonder how I could get the filename from the selected file, without uploading the file.

• EHCache on Coldfusion 9 - can I create multiple caches or disable it?

  Hi all. We have been using EHCache with CF8 for a while now with no issues. We are now moving to CF 9 and it seems that the baked-in version of EHCache with CF 9 is actually conflicting with our EHCache setup. So is there: Any way to disable the baked-in version of EHCache? This would be a temporary solution. If we use the CF9 baked-in caching, is there any way to specify more than one cache in ehcache.xml and most importantly, to put into that specific cache via the tag? Many thanks in advance.

• Considering modified files for rebuild

  I have a C++ project, I am using Bakefile for build process, Makefiles are generated for msvc, mingw, gnu etc for cross-platform support. Now the problem is that if I change any .h files (which are included in other .cpp files) and performing a rebuild does not recompile modified files. But changing any .cpp file gets recompiled. Based on modified time-stamp of any file which is included in the project I expect to consider that file for rebuild. Am I missing something which required to be added as a tag in .bkl files? Please help.

  Can it be done? We're using either VS2005 or VS2008. I don't mean regular expressions - which have their place - but plain old text find & replace. I know we can do it (at a pinch) with regular expressions using the \n tag but prefer not to get tangled up in regex escapes characters, plus there's a readability issue. If it can't be done what plain and simple (free) alternative are people using? That doesn't involve knocking up our own macro.

  I did some digging in Android code, and saw the use of in the indeterminate progress bar. after trying to create my own drawable with this tag: <animated-rotate xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:drawable="@drawable/spinner_pia" android:pivotX="50%" android:pivotY="50%" android:framesCount="12" android:frameDuration="100" /> I get an error: "No resource identifier found for attribute 'frameDuration' in package 'android'" - which means that frameDuration is a private attribute. Is there a way to use this "animate-rotate" feature? My task is to replace the system's default indeterminate progress bar. I'd like to do it with as little code as possible (just change few attributes if possible). Using the ProgressBar view, setting: android:indeterminateOnly="true" android:indeterminateBehavior="cycle" android:indeterminateDuration="3500" android:indeterminateDrawable="@drawable/pia_sivuvator" and point "@drawable/pia_sivuvator" to that object would've make my task as elegant as they come but I'm stuck on those private attributes. help?

  It's been a while since I've had to do any html-like code in vim, but recently I came across this again. Say I'm doing a simple bit of a html page: <html><head><title>This is a title</title></head></html> How do I write those closing tags for title, head and html down quickly? I feel like I'm missing some really simple way here that does not involve me going through writing them all down one by one. Of course I can use ^P to autocomplete the individual tag names but what gets me on my laptop keyboard is actually getting the brackets and slash right.
