  • Immutable values in F#

    - by rsteckly
I'm just getting started in F# and have a basic question. Here's the code: let rec forLoop body times = if times <= 0 then () else body() forLoop body (times -1) I don't get the concept of how when you define a variable it is a value and immutable. Here, the value is changing in order to loop. How is that different from a variable in C#?

  • Dynamically add a field to an object in matlab

    - by Marc
Say I have a MATLAB object defined in a class file classdef foo properties bar end end And I create a foo object myfoo = foo(); Now I want to add another field to foo dynamically. What I want is foo.newfield = 42; but this will throw an error. I know there is a way to dynamically add a field/property to a MATLAB object but I can't remember it or find it easily in the help. Anyone know the syntax?

  • Custom URL Scheme from settings.bundle

    - by S-T-R-E-G-A
Is it possible to set a custom URL scheme to launch my app from a link but make this a user defined setting? My app relies on a user defined server url and I would like to be able to set a URL scheme to launch my app using the users custom URL from lets say an email link. I noticed the info.plist has these references ${EXECUTABLE_NAME} can I define my own custom reference maybe?

  • Indirect function call in JavaScript

    - by Art
There are things like f.call(...) f.apply(...) But then there's this (1, alert)('Zomg what is this????!!!11') "1" does not seem to mean much in this context, the following works just fine: (null, alert)('Zomg what is this????!!!11') (1, null, alert)('Zomg what is this????!!!11') (undefined, alert)('Zomg what is this????!!!11') Could you point to a specific part of ECMAScript which describes that syntax?

    - by Eyal
I right script in Ruby that include java classes require 'java' include_class 'java.math.BigDecimal' include_class 'java.math.RoundingMode' during the script I need to divide 2 java.bigDecimal one = BigDecimal.new("1") number1 = BigDecimal.new("3") number1 = one.divide(number1,RoundingMode.new(HALF_EVEN)) since I don't have intellisense in this IDE I'm not sure the syntax is right and the runtime error is: uninitialized constant::HALF_EVEN do I combine java object in the ruby scrpit in the right way? how should I divide two java.bigDecimal object in ruby env?

  • How do I nested options for plugins in jQuery

    - by Oscar Godson
I know how to do plugins, but how do I do nested options like: var defaults = { spacing:10, shorten_to:50, from_start:0, from_end:2, classes: { test:'testing' } }; i know that isn't right, i just dont know how to write the proper syntax when I want to do something like this: $('#breadcrumbs').breadcrumbs({classes{test:'new_example'},spacing:12}) other suggestions are welcome, im in need of the ability to custom class names and there are 7, so rather than making something like test_class, example_class, etc id like it cleaner and neater like the example above.

  • Django-like templates system for Java?

    - by Savash
I'm looking for the templates engine for Java with syntax like in Django templates or Twig (PHP). Is it exists? Update: The target is to have same templates files for different languages. File index.tpl {{head}} {{ var|escape }} {{body}} can be rendered from python (Django) code as well as from PHP, using Twig. I'm looking for Java solution. Thanks.

  • bash: assign grep regex results to array

    - by Ryan
Hello everyone, I am trying to assign a regular expression result to an array inside of a bash script but I am unsure whether that's possible, or if I'm doing it entirely wrong. The below is what I want to happen, however I know my syntax is incorrect: indexes[4]=$(echo b5f1e7bfc2439c621353d1ce0629fb8b | grep -o '[a-f0-9]\{8\}') such that: index[1]=b5f1e7bf index[2]=c2439c62 index[3]=1353d1ce index[4]=0629fb8b Any links, or advice, would be wonderful :)

  • Why use infinite loops?

    - by Moishe
Another poster asked about preferred syntax for infinite loops. A follow-up question: Why do you use infinite loops in your code? I typically see a construct like this: for (;;) { int scoped_variable = getSomeValue(); if (scoped_variable == some_value) { break; } } Which lets you get around not being able to see the value of scoped_variable in the for or while clause. What are some other uses for "infinite" loops?

  • Creating SQL table using Dynamic variable name

    - by megatoast
I want to create backup SQL tables using variable names. something along the lines of DECLARE @SQLTable Varchar(20) SET @SQLTable = 'SomeTableName' + ' ' + '20100526' SELECT * INTO quotename(@SQLTable) FROM SomeTableName but i'm getting Incorrect syntax near '@SQLTable'. It's just part of a small script for maintence so i don't have to worry about injections.

  • Reverse PInvoke and create a full unmanaged C# program

    - by Fire-Dragon-DoL
I know this is a strange question but the idea is simple: I prefer C# syntax rather than C++: -Setters and getters directly inside a property -interfaces -foreach statement -possibility to declare an implicit cast operator other small things... What I really don't know is if is possible to import a c++ dll (expecially std libraries) in C# if I don't use any namespace (even System) The idea is just to write a program using everything that you will normally use in C++ (nothing from CLR so), even printf for example Thanks for any answer

  • Best Way to Include Debug Code?

    - by stormin986
I am programming Android applications, and the best way here may or may not be the same as Java in general. I simply want to be able to set a debug flag that will only execute certain portions of code when it's set to true––equiv to C++ setting a preprocessor #define DEBUG and using #ifdef DEBUG. Is there an accepted or best way to accomplish this in Java? Right now I'm just going to set a variable in my Application object, but I don't imagine this is the best way.

  • How to best integrate generated code

    - by Arne
I am evaluating the use of code generation for my flight simulation project. More specifically there is a requirement to allow "the average engineer" (no offense I am one myself) to define the differential equations that describe the dynamic system in a more natural syntax than C++ provides. The idea is to devise a abstract descriptor language that can be easily understood and edited to generate C++ code from. This descriptor is supplied by the modeling engineer and used by the ones implementing and maintaining the simulation evironment to generate code. I've got something like this in mind: model Aircraft has state x1, x2; state x3; input double : u; input bool : flag1, flag2; algebraic double : x1x2; model Engine : tw1, tw2; model Gear : gear; model ISA : isa; trim routine HorizontalFight; trim routine OnGround, General; constant double : c1, c2; constant int : ci1; begin differential equations x1' = x1 + 2.*x2; x2' = x2 + x1x2; begin algebraic equations x1x2 = x1*x2 + x1'; end model It is important to retain the flexibility of the C language thus the descriptor language is meant to only define certain parts of the definition and implementation of the model class. This way one enigneer provides the model in from of the descriptor language as examplified above and the maintenance enigneer will add all the code to read parameters from files, start/stop/pause the execution of the simulation and how a concrete object gets instatiated. My first though is to either generate two files from the descriptor file: one .h file containing declarations and one .cpp file containing the implementation of certain functions. These then need to be #included at appropriate places [File Aircarft.h] class Aircraft { public: void Aircraft(..); // hand-written constructor void ReadParameters(string &file_name); // hand-written private: /* more hand wirtten boiler-plate code */ /* generate declarations follow */ #include "Aircraft.generated.decl" }; [File Aircraft.cpp] Aircarft::Aircraft(..) { /* hand-written constructer implementation */ } /* more hand-written implementation code */ /* generated implementation code follows */ #include "Aircraft.generated.impl" Any thoughts or suggestions?

  • BeanDefinition class removed in Spring 4?

    - by mushtaq
I am trying out the new Spring 4 release, and I found out that the BeanDefinition interface has been removed, if so what is the replacement class we should use in a scenario where we define a scope for a bean ? Prior to Spring release of 4 you could do this. @Bean @Scope(BeanDefinition.SCOPE_PROTOTYPE) class MyBean{ ... } EDIT As of Spring 4, can't you specify the spring bean scope in the @Scope Annotation, the only option given is to add a string and then the ProxyMode ?

  • epoll_wait: maxevents

    - by someguy
int epoll_wait(int epfd, struct epoll_event *events, int maxevents, int timeout); I'm a little confused about the maxevents parameter. Let's say I want to write a server that can handle up to 10k connections. Would I define maxevents as 10000 then, or should it be be lower for some reason?

  • Combining the UNIQUE and CHECK constraints

    - by Bobby
I have a table with columns a b and c, and if c is false then I only want to allow insertions if columns a and b are unique, but if c is true then a and b do not need to be unique. Example: There can only be one (foo, bar, false) in the table, but no limit on how many (foo, bar, true) there can be. I tried something like CONSTRAINT blah UNIQUE (a,b) AND CHECK (C is TRUE) but I can't figure out the correct syntax.
