  • Issue in setting alarm time in AlarmManager Class

    - by Anshuman
    I have used the following code in setting alarm time in AlarmManager class. Now Suppose my device current date 9-july-2012 11:31:00, Now suppose i set set a alarm at 9-july-2012 11:45:00, then it works fine and pop-up an alarm at that time. But if i set an alarm at 10-aug-2012 11:40:00, then as soon as exit the app the alarm pop-up, which is wrong because i set an alarm at month of august, So why this happen, is anything wrong in my code. if anyone knows help me to solve this out. Code For Setting Alarm time in AlarmManager class Intent myIntent = new Intent(context, AlarmService.class); PendingIntent pendingIntent = PendingIntent.getService(context, i, myIntent, i); AlarmManager alarmManager = (AlarmManager)context.getSystemService(AlarmService.ALARM_SERVICE); Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance(); calendar.setTimeInMillis(System.currentTimeMillis()); calendar.add(Calendar.MILLISECOND, (int) dateDifferenceFromSystemTime(NoteManager.getSingletonObject().getAlarmTime(i))); alarmManager.set(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, calendar.getTimeInMillis(), pendingIntent); public static long dateDifferenceFromSystemTime(Date date) { long difference = 0; try { Calendar c = Calendar.getInstance(); difference = date.getTime() - c.getTimeInMillis(); if (difference < 0) { // if difference is -1 - means alarm time is of previous time then current // then firstly change it to +positive and subtract form 86400000 to get exact new time to play alarm // 86400000-Total no of milliseconds of 24hr Day difference = difference * -1; difference = 86400000 - difference; } } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return difference; } Service class which pop-up alarm when matches time public class AlarmService extends IntentService { public void onCreate() { super.onCreate(); } public AlarmService() { super("MyAlarmService"); } @Override public int onStartCommand(Intent intent, int flags, int startId) { super.onStartCommand(intent, startId, startId); return START_STICKY; } @Override protected void onHandleIntent(Intent intent) { startActivity(new Intent(this,AlarmDialogActivity.class).setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK)); } }

  • Threads in Java

    - by owca
    I've created simple program to test Threads in Java. I'd like it to print me numbers infinitely, like 123123123123123. Dunno why, but currently it stops after one cycle finishing 213 only. Anyone knows why ? public class Main { int number; public Main(int number){ } public static void main(String[] args) { new Infinite(2).start(); new Infinite(1).start(); new Infinite(3).start(); } } class Infinite extends Thread { static int which=1; static int order=1; int id; int number; Object console = new Object(); public Infinite(int number){ id = which; which++; this.number = number; } @Override public void run(){ while(1==1){ synchronized(console){ if(order == id){ System.out.print(number); order++; if(order >= which){ order = 1; } try{ console.notifyAll(); console.wait(); } catch(Exception e) {} } else { try{ console.notifyAll(); console.wait(); } catch(Exception e) {} } } try{Thread.sleep(0);} catch(Exception e) {} } } }

  • DataGrid Column names don't seem to be binding

    - by Jason
    Sort of a Flex newbie here so bear with me. I've got a DataGrid defined as follows: <mx:Script> ... private function getColumns(names:ArrayCollection):Array { var ret:Array = new Array(); for each (var name:String in names) { var column:DataGridColumn = new DataGridColumn(name); ret.push(column); } return ret; } </mx:Script> <mx:DataGrid id="grid" width="100%" height="100%" paddingTop="0" columns="{getColumns(_dataSetLoader.columnNames)}" horizontalScrollPolicy="auto" labelFunction="labelFunction" dataProvider="{_dataSetLoader.data}" /> ...where _dataSetLoader is an instance of an object that looks like: [Bindable] public class DataSetLoader extends EventDispatcher { ... private var _data:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); private var _columnNames:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); ... public function reset():void { _status = NOTLOADED; _data.removeAll(); _columnNames.removeAll(); } ... When reset() is called on the dataSetLoader instance, the DataGrid empties the data in the cells, as expected, but leaves the column names, even though reset() calls _columnNames.removeAll(). Shouldn't the change in the collection trigger a change in the DataGrid?

  • How can I create a properly sizing QWebView?

    - by chacham15
    I want to make a QWebView appear expanding to the width and height so that ideally it will have no scroll bars. Some websites may have fixed widths that wont allow this, but I am not concerned with those. In any case, I cannot do as I wish because QWebView implements sizeHint as follows: QSize QWebView::sizeHint() const { return QSize(800, 600); // ####... } This is incorrect on a number of levels. 1. It doesnt at all take into account the size of the actual web page. 2. It doesnt take into account that the height and width are related to each other. (To prove #2 think about text in web pages that wraps to the next line.) As a simple fix I tried to do (where QResizingWebView extends QWebView): QSize QResizingWebView::sizeHint() const{ return this-page()-mainFrame()-contentsSize(); } While this is closer to the result, it also has 2 flaws. 1. It doesnt take into account the relation between the displayed width/height. 2. this->page()->mainFrame()->contentsSize() is inaccurate from what I can tell from my preliminary testing (it has returned heights larger than it should under many cases, although this may be related to #1). Does anyone have any tips to fix this?

  • atk4 advanced crud?

    - by thindery
    I have the following tables: -- ----------------------------------------------------- -- Table `product` -- ----------------------------------------------------- CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `product` ( `id` INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT , `productName` VARCHAR(255) NULL , `s7location` VARCHAR(255) NULL , PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE = InnoDB; -- ----------------------------------------------------- -- Table `pages` -- ----------------------------------------------------- CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `pages` ( `id` INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT , `productID` INT NULL , `pageName` VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL , `isBlank` TINYINT(1) NULL , `pageOrder` INT(11) NULL , `s7page` INT(11) NULL , PRIMARY KEY (`id`) , INDEX `productID` (`productID` ASC) , CONSTRAINT `productID` FOREIGN KEY (`productID` ) REFERENCES `product` (`id` ) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION) ENGINE = InnoDB; -- ----------------------------------------------------- -- Table `field` -- ----------------------------------------------------- CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `field` ( `id` INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT , `pagesID` INT NULL , `fieldName` VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL , `fieldType` VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL , `fieldDefaultValue` VARCHAR(255) NULL , PRIMARY KEY (`id`) , INDEX `id` (`pagesID` ASC) , CONSTRAINT `pagesID` FOREIGN KEY (`pagesID` ) REFERENCES `pages` (`id` ) ON DELETE NO ACTION ON UPDATE NO ACTION) ENGINE = InnoDB; I have gotten CRUD to work on the 'product' table. //addproduct.php class page_addproduct extends Page { function init(){ parent::init(); $crud=$this->add('CRUD')->setModel('Product'); } } This works. but I need to get it so that when a new product is created it basically allows me to add new rows into the pages and field tables. For example, the products in the tables are a print product(like a greeting card) that has multiple pages to render. Page 1 may have 2 text fields that can be customized, page 2 may have 3 text fields, a slider to define text size, and a drop down list to pick a color, and page 3 may have five text fields that can all be customized. All three pages (and all form elements, 12 in this example) are associated with 1 product. So when I create the product, could i add a button to create a page for that product, then within the page i can add a button to add a new form element field? I'm still somewhat new to this, so my db structure may not be ideal. i'd appreciate any suggestions and feedback! Could someone point me toward some information, tutorials, documentation, ideas, suggestions, on how I can implement this?

  • can not override showDialog in Activity tab

    - by hornetbzz
    Trying to downgrade my appl from android 2.2 (API 8) down to android 2.1 (API7), I'm facing some issues with dialog boxes. Based on this thread, I'm trying to catch these exceptions but can't override the showDialog method. I turned the Java compiler from 1.5 to 1.6 according to this answer to a similar issue, but no changes, Eclipse still returns : Cannot override the final method from Activity public class MyActivity extends Activity implements SeekBar.OnSeekBarChangeListener { // ... some stuffs @Override // here is the issue public void showDialog(int dialogId) { try { super.showDialog(dialogId); } catch (IllegalArgumentException e) { Log.e(ACTIVITY_TAG, "Error dialog"); } } @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) { switch (id) { case DIALOG_ALERT: // Create out AlertDialog Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(this); builder.setMessage(msg); builder.setCancelable(false); builder.setPositiveButton(GOTO_BOOK, new OkOnClickListener()); builder.setNegativeButton(STAY_HERE, new CancelOnClickListener()); AlertDialog dialog = builder.create(); dialog.show(); break; case DIALOG_ONCREATE: // Create out AlertDialog during the "onCreate" method (only "Ok" // button) Builder builder2 = new AlertDialog.Builder(getParent()); builder2.setMessage(msg); builder2.setCancelable(false); builder2.setPositiveButton(GO_BACK, new OkOnClickListener()); AlertDialog dialog2 = builder2.create(); dialog2.show(); break; } return super.onCreateDialog(id); } // ... some stuffs }

  • Is it possible to receive SMS message on appWidget?

    - by cappuccino
    Is it possible to receive SMS message on appWidget? I saw android sample source(API Demos). In API Demos, ExampleAppWidgetProvider class extends AppWidgetProvider, not Activity. So, I guess it is impossible to regist SMS Receiver like this, rcvIncoming = new BroadcastReceiver() { @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { Log.i("telephony", "SMS received"); Bundle data = intent.getExtras(); if (data != null) { // SMS uses a data format known as a PDU Object pdus[] = (Object[]) data.get("pdus"); String message = "New message:\n"; String sender = null; for (Object pdu : pdus) { SmsMessage part = SmsMessage.createFromPdu((byte[])pdu); message += part.getDisplayMessageBody(); if (sender == null) { sender = part.getDisplayOriginatingAddress(); } } Log.i(sender, message); } } }; registerReceiver(rcvIncoming, new IntentFilter("android.provider.Telephony.SMS_RECEIVED")); My goal is to receive SMS message on my custom appWidget. Any help would be appreciated!!

  • Why isn't componentHidden called for my JPopupMenu?

    - by heycam
    I want to be notified when my JPopupMenu is hidden — whether because an item was selected, the menu was dismissed, or setVisible(false) was called on it. Here is my test code: import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class A extends ComponentAdapter implements Runnable, ActionListener { private JButton b; public static void main(String[] args) { EventQueue.invokeLater(new A()); } public void run() { JFrame f = new JFrame("Test"); b = new JButton("Click me"); b.addActionListener(this); f.add(b); f.pack(); f.setVisible(true); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { JPopupMenu pm = new JPopupMenu(); pm.addComponentListener(this); pm.add("Popup..."); pm.add("...menu!"); pm.show(b, 10, 10); } public void componentShown(ComponentEvent e) { System.out.println("componentShown"); } public void componentHidden(ComponentEvent e) { System.out.println("componentHidden"); } } Regardless of how I interact with the menu, neither of the two ComponentListener methods are being called. Why is that? Is there different/better/correct way of finding out when my JPopupMenu is hidden? Thanks, Cameron

  • How to allow one thread to mutate an array property while another thread iterates on a copy of the a

    - by Steve918
    I would like to implement an observer pattern in Objective-C where the observer implements an interface similar to SKPaymentTransactionObserver and the observable class just extends my base observable. My observable class looks something like what is below. Notice I'm making copies of the observers before enumeration to avoid throwing an exception . I've tried adding an NSLock around add observers and notify observers, but I run into a deadlock. What would be the proper way to handle concurrency when observers are being added as notifications are being sent? @implementation Observable -(void)notifyObservers:(SEL)selector { @synchronized(self) { NSSet* observer_copy = [observers copy]; for (id observer in observer_copy) { if([observer respondsToSelector: selector]) { [observer performSelector: selector]; } } [observer_copy release]; } } -(void)notifyObservers:(SEL)selector withObject:(id)arg1 withObject:(id)arg2 { @synchronized(self) { NSSet* observer_copy = [observers copy]; for (id observer in observer_copy) { if([observer respondsToSelector: selector]) { [observer performSelector: selector withObject: arg1 withObject: arg2]; } } [observer_copy release]; } } -(void)addObserver:(id)observer { @synchronized(self) { [observers addObject: observer]; } } -(void)removeObserver:(id)observer { @synchronized(self) { [observers removeObject: observer]; } }

  • preparing SMS app for Android KitKat

    - by Pmsc
    in agreement with the recent post from Android Developers http://android-developers.blogspot.pt/2013/10/getting-your-sms-apps-ready-for-kitkat.html ,I was trying to prepare my app to the new android version, but encountered a problem with the part they suggest to create a dialog to let the user set the app as the default application to handle SMS's : Android Developers Post public class ComposeSmsActivity extends Activity { @Override protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); final String myPackageName = getPackageName(); if (!Telephony.Sms.getDefaultSmsPackage(this).equals(myPackageName)) { // App is not default. // Show the "not currently set as the default SMS app" interface View viewGroup = findViewById(R.id.not_default_app); viewGroup.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); // Set up a button that allows the user to change the default SMS app Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.change_default_app); button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { Intent intent = new Intent(Telephony.Sms.Intents.ACTION_CHANGE_DEFAULT); intent.putExtra(Telephony.Sms.Intents.EXTRA_PACKAGE_NAME, myPackageName); startActivity(intent); } }); } else { // App is the default. // Hide the "not currently set as the default SMS app" interface View viewGroup = findViewById(R.id.not_default_app); viewGroup.setVisibility(View.GONE); } } } the code itself in pretty much straightforward, but I'm unable to access to Telephony.Sms.getDefaultSmsPackage because it says that Telephony cannot be resolved, and I can't find any import or declaration that would fix that. Can anyone please help? Thanks in advanced.

  • How to get a handle to all JCheckBox objects in order to loop?

    - by EmmyS
    I'm very new to Java and am having some issues looping through JCheckBoxes on a UI. The idea is that I have a bunch of checkboxes (not in a group because more than one can be selected.) When I click a JButton, I want to build a string containing the text from each selected checkbox. The issue I'm having is that our instructor told us that the checkboxes need to be created via a method, which means (see code below) that there isn't a discrete instance name for each checkbox. If there were, I could say something like if(checkBox1.isSelected()) { myString.append(checkBox.getText()); } That would repeat for checkBox2, checkBox3, and so on. But the method provided to us for adding checkboxes to a panel looks like this: public class CheckBoxPanel extends JPanel { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; public CheckBoxPanel(String title, String... options) { setBorder(BorderFactory.createTitledBorder(BorderFactory .createEtchedBorder(), title)); setLayout(new BoxLayout(this, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); // make one checkbox for each option for (String option : options) { JCheckBox b = new JCheckBox(option); b.setActionCommand(option); add(b); } } } This is called like this: toppingPanel = new CheckBoxPanel("Each Topping $1.50", "Tomato", "Green Pepper", "Black Olives", "Mushrooms", "Extra Cheese", "Pepperoni", "Sausage"); So I now have a panel that contains a border with the title "Each Topping $1.50", and 7 visible checkboxes. What I need to do is get a list of all the selected toppings. We are not supposed to use an ActionListener for each checkbox, but rather get the list when a button is clicked. I'm feeling really clueless here, but I just can't figure out how to get the isSelected property of the checkboxes when the individual checkboxes don't have instance names. Ideally I'd like to somehow add all the checkboxes to an array and loop through the array in the button's action listener to determine which ones are checked, but if I have to check each one individually I will. I just can't figure out how to refer to an individual checkbox when they've been created dynamically.

  • using volatile keyword

    - by sap
    As i understand, if we declare a variable as volatile, then it will not be stored in the local cache. Whenever thread are updating the values, it is updated to the main memory. So, other threads can access the updated value. But in the following program both volatile and non-volatile variables are displaying same value. The volatile variable is not updated for the second thread. Can anybody plz explain this why testValue is not changed. class ExampleThread extends Thread { private int testValue1; private volatile int testValue; public ExampleThread(String str){ super(str); } public void run() { if (getName().equals("Thread 1 ")) { testValue = 10; testValue1= 10; System.out.println( "Thread 1 testValue1 : " + testValue1); System.out.println( "Thread 1 testValue : " + testValue); } if (getName().equals("Thread 2 ")) { System.out.println( "Thread 2 testValue1 : " + testValue1); System.out.println( "Thread 2 testValue : " + testValue); } } } public class VolatileExample { public static void main(String args[]) { new ExampleThread("Thread 1 ").start(); new ExampleThread("Thread 2 ").start(); } } output: Thread 1 testValue1 : 10 Thread 1 testValue : 10 Thread 2 testValue1 : 0 Thread 2 testValue : 0

  • Windows.Forms RichTextBox Control - Avoid inserting large data.

    - by SchlaWiener
    I have a Windows Form with a RichTextBox on it. The content of the RichTextBox is written to a database field that ist limited to 64k data. For my purpose that is way more than enough text to store. I have set the MaxLength property to avoid insertng more data than allowed. rtcControl.MaxLength = 65536 Howevery, that only restricts the amount of characters that so is allowed to put in the text. But with the formatting overhead from the Rtf I can type more text than I should be allowed to. It even get's worse if I insert a large image, which dosn't increase the TextLength at all but the Rtf Length grows quite a lot. At the moment I check the Length of the richttextboxes' Rtf property in the FormClosing event and display a message to the user if it's to large. However that is just a workaround because I want to disallow putting more data than allowed into the control (like in a textbox if you exceed the MaxLength property nothing is inserted into the control and you hear the default beep(). Any ideas how to achive this? I already tried: using a custom control which extends the richtextbox and shadows th Rtf property to intercept the insertation. But it seems it isn't executed if I add text. Even the TextChanged Event does not fire if I type smth. in the control.

  • Run a flash movie in flex application.

    - by Irwin
    I've a flash movie that I would like to use inside of a flex application, very similar to a preloader. Looking at this tutorial, http://www.flexer.info/2008/02/07/very-first-flex-preloader-customization/, I expected it would be a matter of not extending "Preloader" and extending "Sprite" and using the class i created wherever i needed. Alas, the movie I created, is not being shown. This is the code for my class containing the movie, made based on the tutorial above: package { import mx.preloaders.DownloadProgressBar; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.ProgressEvent; import flash.events.Event; import mx.events.FlexEvent; import flash.display.MovieClip; public class PlayerAnimation extends Sprite { [Embed("Player.swf")] public var PlayerGraphic:Class; public var mc:MovieClip; public function PlayerAnimation():void { super(); mc = new PlayerGraphic(); addChild(mc); } public function Play():void { mc.gotoAndStop(2); } } }

  • smartGWT: retrieve data from server to populate a listGrid

    I'm searching a way to populate a ListGrid with an XML response from a server. This is an example of my server response: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <tbody id="tbody"> <tr> <word>The</word> <frequence>12</frequence> </tr> <tr> <word>best</word> <frequence>3</frequence> </tr> ...   • WebService Stubs WSDL Axis2

    Good afternoon in my timezone. I have a wsdl file with the following snippet of code: <schema targetNamespace="http://util.cgd.pt" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <import namespace="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" /> <complexType name="Attribute"> <sequence> <element name="fieldType" nillable="true" type="xsd:string" /> <element name="dataType" nillable="true" type="xsd:string" /> <element name="name" nillable="true" type="xsd:string" /> <element name="value" nillable="true" type="xsd:string" /> </sequence> </complexType> <complexType name="ArrayOffAttribute"> <complexContent> <restriction base="soapenc:Array"> <attribute ref="soapenc:arrayType" wsdl:arrayType="tns3:Attribute[]" /> </restriction> </complexContent> </complexType> When i use jax-rpc or Axis1 to generate the stubs the type Attribute is generated, but when i use Axis2 the type Attribute is not generated and a new type is created ArrayOffAttribute, this new type extends the axis2.databinding.types.soapencoding.Array and permits to add elements through the array.addObject(object), my question is, i am migrating one Java EE application from webservices using jax-rpc to start using Axis2, and the methods are using the Attribute type to fullfill attributes fields, now in Axis2 and do not have attribute type , what should i use in the ArrayOffAttribute.addObject(?) ? Could be something wrong with Axis2 ? i am stop here :( Thanks in advance Best regards

  • Why compiling in Flash IDE I cannot access stage in a Sprite constructor before addChild while if I

    - by yuri
    I've created this simple class (omissing package directive and imports) public class Viewer extends Sprite { public function Viewer():void { trace(stage); } } then in Flash IDE I import in first frame this AS: import Viewer var viewer = new Viewer(); stage.addChild(viewer); trace(viewer.stage); and this works as I expected: the first trace called in constructor say stage is "null" because I haven't yet add viewer to a DisplayObjectContainer. The second one output the stage object. So I created a project using AXDT eclipse plugin, I've recreated and compiled only the first class (trashed the AS init script used in Flash IDE because is not needed) and on the first trace ... wow ... the stage is filled with the stage Object. I seems to me that the compiler used by AXDT (Flex4 SDK open source) add the class... before construct it (!?).. to a DisplayObjectContainer already attached to a Stage. I want to understand how can reproduce this behaviour using compiler in Flash IDE so I can directrly access Stage in construction.

Then where can i find that library on the web? package com.myapps.urlencoding; import android.app.Activity; import org.apache.commons.lang.StringUtils; public class EncodeIdUtil extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ private static Long multiplier=Long.parseLong("1zzzz",36); /** * Encodes the id. * @param id the id to encode * @return encoded string */ public static String encode(Long id) { return StringUtils.reverse(Long.toString((id*multiplier), 35)); } /** * Decodes the encoded id. * @param encodedId the encodedId to decode * @return the Id * @throws IllegalArgumentException if encodedId is not a validly encoded id. */ public static Long decode(String encodedId) throws IllegalArgumentException { long product; try { product = Long.parseLong(StringUtils.reverse(encodedId), 35); } catch (Exception e) { throw new IllegalArgumentException(); } if ( 0 != product % multiplier || product < 0) { throw new IllegalArgumentException(); } return product/multiplier; } }

  • Domain model: should things like Logging, Audit, Persistence be in it

    - by hom.tanks
    I'm having a hard time convincing our architect that a Domain model should only have the essential elements of the business domain on it. Things like the fact that a class is persistable, that it needs logging and auditing and that it has a RESTful URI should not drive the domain model. They can be added later on, by using interfaces. Ours is a healthcare information management system. At the very coarse level, its a system where users login and access their healthcare information. They can share this information with others and be custodian for others' information (think Roles). But because of a few sound bytes that caught on early like "Everything should be a REST resource" the model now has a top level class called Resource that every other class extends from. I'm trying to make him see that the domain model should have well defined concepts like User Account, HealthDocument, UserRole etc which are distinct entities of the business , with specific associations between them. Clubbing everything under Resource class lets our model be inflexible besides being potentially incorrect. But he wants me to show him why its a bad idea to do it his way. I don't know how to articulate that properly but all my OO instincts tell me that its just not right. Any thoughts?

  • Images in Applet not showing in web page

    - by Leanne C
    I am trying to display a JPEG image and a moving dot on a Java applet which I am using on a web based application. However, when I run the applet it works fine, but when I display the applet from the JSP page, I get the moving dot but not the JPEG image. Is there a specific folder where the JPEG needs to be? These are the 2 methods i use for drawing the picture and the moving dot on the screen. public class mapplet extends Applet implements Runnable { int x_pos = 10; int y_pos = 100; int radius = 20; Image img, img2; Graphics gr; URL base; MediaTracker m; @Override public void init() { mt = new MediaTracker(this); try { //getDocumentbase gets the applet path. base = getCodeBase(); img = getImage(base, "picture.jpg"); m.addImage(img, 1); m.waitForAll(); } catch (InterruptedException ex) { Logger.getLogger(movement.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } public void paint (Graphics g) { g.drawImage(img, 0, 0, this); // set color g.setColor (Color.red); // paint a filled colored circle g.fillOval (x_pos - radius, y_pos - radius, 2 * radius, 2 * radius); } The code one below is the call from the jsp page <applet archive="mapplet.jar" code="myapplets/mapplet.class" width=350 height=200> </applet> The jar file and the picture are in the same folder as the jsp page, and there is also a folder containing the contents of the class and image of the applet in the web section of the application. The applet loads fine however the picture doesn't display. I think it's not the code but the location of the picture that is causing a problem. Thanks

  • Is it legal to extend the Class class?

    - by spiralganglion
    I've been writing a system that generates some templates, and then generates some objects based on those templates. I had the idea that the templates could be extensions of the Class class, but that resulted in some magnificent errors: VerifyError: Error #1107: The ABC data is corrupt, attempt to read out of bounds. What I'm wondering is if subclassing Class is even possible, if there is perhaps some case where doing this would be appropriate, and not just a gross misuse of OOP. I believe it should be possible, as ActionScript allows you to create variables of the Class type. This use is described in the LiveDocs entry for Class, yet I've seen no mentions of subclassing Class. Here's a pseudocode example: class Foo extends Class var a:Foo = new Foo(); trace(a is Class) // true, right? var b = new a(); I have no idea what the type of b would be. In summary: can you subclass the Class class? If so, how can you do it without errors, and what type are the instances of the instances of the Class subclass?
