  • "pushModalScreen called by a non-event thread" thrown on event thread

    - by JGWeissman
    I am trying to get my Blackberry application to display a custom modal dialog, and have the opening thread wait until the user closes the dialog screen. final Screen dialog = new FullScreen(); ...// Fields are added to dialog Application.getApplication().invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { public void run() { Application.getUiApplication().pushModalScreen(dialog); } }); This is throwing an Exception which says "pushModalScreen called by a non-event thread" despite the fact that I am using invokeAndWait to call pushModalScreen from the event thread. Any ideas about what the real problem is? Here is the code to duplicate this problem: package com.test; import net.rim.device.api.ui.*; import net.rim.device.api.ui.component.*; import net.rim.device.api.ui.container.*; public class Application extends UiApplication { public static void main(String[] args) { new Application(); } private Application() { new Thread() { public void run() { Application.this.enterEventDispatcher(); } }.start(); final Screen dialog = new FullScreen(); final ButtonField closeButton = new ButtonField("Close Dialog"); closeButton.setChangeListener(new FieldChangeListener() { public void fieldChanged(Field field, int context) { Application.getUiApplication().popScreen(dialog); } }); dialog.add(closeButton); Application.getApplication().invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { public void run() { try { Application.getUiApplication().pushModalScreen(dialog); } catch (Exception e) { // To see the Exception in the debugger throw new RuntimeException(e.getMessage()); } } }); System.exit(0); } } I am using Component Package version 4.5.0.

  • Run a flash movie in flex application.

    - by Irwin
    I've a flash movie that I would like to use inside of a flex application, very similar to a preloader. Looking at this tutorial, http://www.flexer.info/2008/02/07/very-first-flex-preloader-customization/, I expected it would be a matter of not extending "Preloader" and extending "Sprite" and using the class i created wherever i needed. Alas, the movie I created, is not being shown. This is the code for my class containing the movie, made based on the tutorial above: package { import mx.preloaders.DownloadProgressBar; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.ProgressEvent; import flash.events.Event; import mx.events.FlexEvent; import flash.display.MovieClip; public class PlayerAnimation extends Sprite { [Embed("Player.swf")] public var PlayerGraphic:Class; public var mc:MovieClip; public function PlayerAnimation():void { super(); mc = new PlayerGraphic(); addChild(mc); } public function Play():void { mc.gotoAndStop(2); } } }

  • Retrieve only the superclass from a class hierarchy

    - by user1792724
    I have an scenario as the following: @Entity @Table(name = "ANIMAL") @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceType.JOINED) public class Animal implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator = "S_ANIMAL") @SequenceGenerator(name = "S_ANIMAL", sequenceName = "S_ANIMAL", allocationSize = 1) public int getNumero() { return numero; } public void setNumero(int numero) { this.numero = numero; } . . . } and as the subclass: @Entity @Table(name = "DOG") public class Dog extends Animal { private static final long serialVersionUID = -7341592543130659641L; . . . } I have a JPA Select statement like this: SELECT a FROM Animal a; I'm using Hibernate 3.3.1 As I can see the framework retrieves instances of Animal and also of Dog using a left outer join. Is there a way to Select only the "part" Animal? I mean, the previous Select will get all the Animals, those that are only Animals but not Dogs and those that are Dogs. I want them all, but in the case of Dogs I want to only retrieve the "Animal part" of them. I found the @org.hibernate.annotations.Entity(polymorphism = PolymorphismType.EXPLICIT) but as I could see this only works if Animal isn't an @Entity. Thanks a lot.

    - by Maxood

  • Error Message-The source attachment does not contain the source for the file ListView.class

    - by user603695
    Hello, new to Android. I get the following message in the debugger perspective: The source attachment does not contain the source for the file ListView.class You can change the source attachment by clicking the change attached Source Below Needless to say the app errors. I've tried to change the source attachment to the location path: C:/Program Files/Android/android-sdk-windows/platforms/android-8/android.jar However, this did not work. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Code is: import android.app.ListActivity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.*; import android.widget.*; public class HelloListView extends ListActivity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.main, COUNTRIES)); ListView lv = getListView(); lv.setTextFilterEnabled(true); lv.setOnItemClickListener(new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { // When clicked, show a toast with the TextView text Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), ((TextView) view).getText(), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } }); } static final String[] COUNTRIES = new String[] { "Afghanistan", "Albania", "Algeria", "American Samoa... • Issue calling superclass method in subclass constructor

    - by stormin986
    I get a NullPointerException calling a Superclass Method in Subclass Inner Class Constructor... What's the Deal? In my application's main class (subclass of Application), I have a public inner class that simply contains 3 public string objects. In the parent class I declare an object of that inner class. public class MainApplication extends Application { public class Data { public String x; public String y; public String z; } private Data data; MainApplication() { data = new Data() data.x = SuperClassMethod(); } } After I instantiate the object in the constructor, I get a runtime error when I try to assign a value in the inner class with a superclass method. Any idea what's up here?? Can you not call superclass methods in the subclass constructor? ** Edit ** Original question was about inner class member assignment in outer class constructor. Turned out the issue was with calling a superclass method in the class's constructor. It was giving me a null pointer exception. Thus, the question has changed.

  • Password Confirmation in zend framework

    - by Behrang
    I add this class to library/My/Validate/PasswordConfirmation.php <?php require_once 'Zend/Validate/Abstract.php'; class My_Validate_PasswordConfirmation extends Zend_Validate_Abstract { const NOT_MATCH = 'notMatch'; protected $_messageTemplates = array( self::NOT_MATCH => 'Password confirmation does not match' ); public function isValid($value, $context = null) { $value = (string) $value; $this->_setValue($value); if (is_array($context)) { if (isset($context['password']) && ($value == $context['password'])) { return true; } } elseif (is_string($context) && ($value == $context)) { return true; } $this->_error(self::NOT_MATCH); return false; } } ?> then I create two field in my form like this : $userPassword = $this->createElement('password', 'user_password'); $userPassword->setLabel('Password: '); $userPassword->setRequired('true'); $this->addElement($userPassword); //create the form elements user_password repeat $userPasswordRepeat = $this->createElement('password', 'password_confirm'); $userPasswordRepeat->setLabel('Password repeat: '); $userPasswordRepeat->setRequired('true'); $userPasswordRepeat->addPrefixPath('My_Validate','My/Validate','validate'); $userPasswordRepeat->addValidator('PasswordConfirmation'); $this->addElement($userPasswordRepeat) everything is good but when i submit form always I get the 'Password confirmation does not match' message ?   • Can I add a portrait layout on top of a landscape Camera SurfaceView?

    - by Uwe Krass
    My application should hold a camera preview surface. The camera is fixed to landscape view via AndroidMainfest.xml <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="Camera"> <uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" /> <uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.camera" /> <uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.camera.autofocus" /> <activity android:name=".CameraPreview" android:label="Camera" android:screenOrientation="landscape"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> </application> If there is another way to get the camera preview itself to behave correctly, please let me know. Now I need to have an overlay that holds a bunch of buttons. Due to usability, the user interface should be set to portrait view (or even better orientation aware). Is there a way to have a transparent layout (for buttons and other GUI elements) in portrait orientation? I tried to write a special rotated layout by extending a RelativeLayout, but the onDraw method isn't called at anytime. public class RotatedOverlay extends RelativeLayout { private static final String TAG = "RotatedOverlay"; public RotatedOverlay(Context context, AttributeSet attrs ) { super(context, attrs); } @Override protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { canvas.rotate(90); super.onDraw(canvas); } I am quite new to the Android plattform programming. Of course I dont know much about the programming tricks and workarounds yet. I did a lot of research over the last two weeks (even studied the native Camera implementation), but couldnt find a good solution so far. Maybe it works with two seperate Activities, but I dont think, that this can the right solution.

  • Android ListActivity with Bitmaps and Garbage Collection issue

    - by chis54
    I have a ListActivity and in it I set my list items with a class that extends SimpleCursorAdapter. I'm overriding bindView to set my Views. I have some TextViews and ImageViews. This is how I set my list items in my cursor adapter: String variableName = "drawable/q" + num + "_200px"; int imageResource = context.getResources().getIdentifier(variableName, "drawable", context.getPackageName()); if (imageResource != 0 ) { // The drawable exists Bitmap b = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(context.getResources(), imageResource); width = b.getWidth(); height = b.getHeight(); imageView.getLayoutParams().width = (int) (width); imageView.getLayoutParams().height = (int) (height); imageView.setImageResource(imageResource); } else { imageView.setImageResource(R.drawable.25trans_200px); } The problem I'm having is whenever I update my list with setListAdapter I get a large amount of garbage collection: D/dalvikvm(18637): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 125K, 51% free 2710K/5447K, external 2022K/2137K, paused 75ms D/dalvikvm(18637): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 30K, 51% free 2701K/5447K, external 2669K/2972K, paused 64ms D/dalvikvm(18637): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 23K, 51% free 2713K/5447K, external 3479K/3579K, paused 53ms D/dalvikvm(18637): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 22K, 51% free 2706K/5447K, external 3303K/3352K, paused 64ms D/dalvikvm(18637): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 21K, 51% free 2722K/5447K, external 3569K/3685K, paused 102ms D/dalvikvm(18637): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 23K, 50% free 2755K/5447K, external 3499K/3605K, paused 65ms D/dalvikvm(18637): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 23K, 50% free 2771K/5447K, external 4213K/4488K, paused 53ms D/dalvikvm(18637): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 18K, 49% free 2796K/5447K, external 5057K/5343K, paused 75ms D/dalvikvm(18637): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 28K, 49% free 2803K/5447K, external 5944K/5976K, paused 53ms D/dalvikvm( 435): GC_EXPLICIT freed 6K, 54% free 2544K/5511K, external 1625K/2137K, paused 50ms D/dalvikvm( 165): GC_EXPLICIT freed 85K, 52% free 2946K/6087K, external 4838K/5980K, paused 111ms D/dalvikvm( 448): GC_EXPLICIT freed 1K, 54% free 2540K/5511K, external 1625K/2137K, paused 50ms D/dalvikvm( 294): GC_EXPLICIT freed 8K, 55% free 2598K/5703K, external 1625K/2137K, paused 64ms What can I do to avoid this?   • Why do case class companion objects extend FunctionN?

    - by retronym
    When you create a case class, the compiler creates a corresponding companion object with a few of the case class goodies: an apply factory method matching the primary constructor, equals, hashCode, and copy. Somewhat oddly, this generated object extends FunctionN. scala> case class A(a: Int) defined class A scala> A: (Int => A) res0: (Int) => A = <function1> This is only the case if: There is no manually defined companion object There is exactly one parameter list There are no type arguments The case class isn't abstract. Seems like this was added about two years ago. The latest incarnation is here. Does anyone use this, or know why it was added? It increases the size of the generated bytecode a little with static forwarder methods, and shows up in the #toString() method of the companion objects: scala> case class A() defined class A scala> A.toString res12: java.lang.String = <function0>

  • How to calculate the height of the text rectangle from an NSString?

    - by mystify
    I know there is this one: sizeWithFont:minFontSize:actualFontSize:forWidth:lineBreakMode: But since the CGSize always has the same height and doesn't adjust to any shrinked text or whatsoever, the CGSize is not telling how heigh the text is. Example: Make a UILabel with 320 x 55 points and put a loooooooooooooong text in there. Let the label shrink the text down. Surprise: CGSize.height remains the same height even if the text is so tiny that you need a microscope. Ok so after banging my head against my macbook pro which is half way broken now, the only think that can help is that nasty actualFontSize. But the font size is in pica I think, it's not really what you get on the screen, isn't it? When that font size is 10, is my text really 10 points heigh at maximum? Once in a while I tried exactly that, and as soon as the text had a y or some character that extends to below (like that tail of an y does), it is out of bounds and the whole text is bigger than 10 points. So how would you calculate the real text height for a single line uilabel without getting a long beard and some hospital experience?

  • Is it legal to extend the Class class?

    - by spiralganglion
    I've been writing a system that generates some templates, and then generates some objects based on those templates. I had the idea that the templates could be extensions of the Class class, but that resulted in some magnificent errors: VerifyError: Error #1107: The ABC data is corrupt, attempt to read out of bounds. What I'm wondering is if subclassing Class is even possible, if there is perhaps some case where doing this would be appropriate, and not just a gross misuse of OOP. I believe it should be possible, as ActionScript allows you to create variables of the Class type. This use is described in the LiveDocs entry for Class, yet I've seen no mentions of subclassing Class. Here's a pseudocode example: class Foo extends Class var a:Foo = new Foo(); trace(a is Class) // true, right? var b = new a(); I have no idea what the type of b would be. In summary: can you subclass the Class class? If so, how can you do it without errors, and what type are the instances of the instances of the Class subclass?

    here is my animation class that i have taken from Udnic - thanks m8, but i'm using it "not from closed position but from opened" and it's jumps and not behaving correctly. what should i do? public class ExpandAnimation extends Animation { private View mAnimatedView; private LinearLayout.LayoutParams mViewLayoutParams; public int mMarginStart, mMarginEnd; private boolean mIsVisibleAfter = false; private boolean mWasEndedAlready = false; private ImageView mImageView; /** * Initialize the animation * @param view The layout we want to animate * @param duration The duration of the animation, in ms */ public ExpandAnimation(View view, int duration, ImageView imageView) { setDuration(duration); mImageView = imageView; mAnimatedView = view; mViewLayoutParams = (LinearLayout.LayoutParams) view.getLayoutParams(); mMarginStart = mMarginEnd = 0; // decide to show or hide the view mIsVisibleAfter = (view.getVisibility() == View.VISIBLE); //mIsVisibleAfter = (mViewLayoutParams.bottomMargin == 0); mMarginStart = mViewLayoutParams.bottomMargin; if(mMarginStart != 0) mMarginStart = 0 - view.getHeight(); mMarginEnd = (mMarginStart == 0 ? (0 - view.getHeight()) : 0); view.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); mImageView.setImageResource(R.drawable.expand_open); } @Override public void initialize(int width, int height, int parentWidth, int parentHeight) { super.initialize(width, height, parentWidth, parentHeight); } @Override protected void applyTransformation(float interpolatedTime, Transformation t) { super.applyTransformation(interpolatedTime, t); if (interpolatedTime < 1.0f) { // Calculating the new bottom margin, and setting it mViewLayoutParams.bottomMargin = mMarginStart + (int) ((mMarginEnd - mMarginStart) * interpolatedTime); // Invalidating the layout, making us seeing the changes we made mAnimatedView.requestLayout(); // Making sure we didn't run the ending before (it happens!) } else if (!mWasEndedAlready) { mViewLayoutParams.bottomMargin = mMarginEnd; mAnimatedView.requestLayout(); // if (mIsVisibleAfter) { if(mMarginEnd != 0) { mAnimatedView.setVisibility(View.GONE); mImageView.setImageResource(R.drawable.expand_close); } mWasEndedAlready = true; } } }

  • Zend_Controller_Router_Route: Could not find a translator

    - by Antonio
    I am developing a multilanguage application. In the bootstrap there is the routes setup: protected function _initRoutes() { $this->bootstrap('frontController'); $router = $this->frontController->getRouter(); // PAGES ROUTE $page = new Zend_Controller_Router_Route( ':language/:ident', array( 'module' => 'core', 'controller' => 'pagine', 'action' => 'view' ), array( 'ident' => '[a-zA-Z-_0-9]{3,}', 'language' => '[a-z]{2}' ) ); $registrazione = new Zend_Controller_Router_Route( ':language/@utenti/@registrati', array( 'module' => 'core', 'controller' => 'utenti', 'action' => 'registrazione' ), array( 'language' => '[a-z]{2}' ) ); $router->addRoute('page', $page); $router->addRoute('registrazione', $registrazione); ..... } I cannot set the default translator to Zend_Controller_Router_Route (for translated segments) because i don't know the language parameter in the request object. I get the language parameter in Multilanguage Plugin during the "routeShutdown": class Activa_Controller_Plugin_Multilanguage extends Zend_Controller_Plugin_Abstract { public function routeShutdown(Zend_Controller_Request_Abstract $request) { $language = $request->getParam("language"); $locale = new Zend_Locale($language); $translate = new Zend_Translate('array', APPLICATION_PATH.'/config/lang/'.$language.'.php', $locale); Zend_Registry::set('Zend_Locale', $locale); Zend_Registry::set('Zend_Translate', $translate); Zend_Controller_Router_Route::setDefaultTranslator($translate); //////////////////////// // BUT NOW IS TOO LATE //////////////////////// } When i type the address "http://servername/it/utenti/registrati" i get the exception with the message "Could not find a translator". How can i fix it? Antonio (Italy)

  • MouseMotion Sensor Method Call

    - by user321894
    I have a soon-to-be due assignment due in computer science. I have encountered a problem, for which no matter how long I study the API's of the class and superclasses, I can not figure out. Suppose I wish to design a sort of "Breakout game" where the mouse motion controls the motion of a block that is used to bounce a ball, which then destroys multi colored bricks. How do you specifically make the block "listen" to the mouse? The below code is what I have attempted to achieve the desired results. /** Breakout Program*/ public class Breakout extends GraphicsProgram implements MouseMotionListener { ... /** The Paddle Itself */ private GRect paddle = new GRect(0, HEIGHT-PADDLEBOTTOM_OFFSET, PADDLEWIDTH, PADDLEHEIGHT); ... /** Run the Breakout program. */ public void run() { paddle.setFillColor(Color.BLACK); paddle.setFilled(true); add(paddle); paddle.addMouseListener(this); ... } /** Move the horizontal middle of the paddle to the x-coordinate of the mouse position - * -but keep the paddle completely on the board. */ public void mouseMoved(MouseEvent e) { GPoint p= new GPoint(e.getPoint()); double x = p.getX(); paddle.setLocation(x, HEIGHT-PADDLEBOTTOM_OFFSET); } } Any clarification on why/what I am doing incorrectly would be helpful, thanks.

  • Java - If statement with String comparison fails

    - by Andrea
    I really don't know why the if statement below is not executing: if (s == "/quit") { System.out.println("quitted"); } Below is the whole class. It is probably a really stupid logic problem but I have been pulling my hair out over here not being able to figure this out. Thanks for looking :) class TextParser extends Thread { public void run() { while (true) { for(int i = 0; i < connectionList.size(); i++) { try { System.out.println("reading " + i); Connection c = connectionList.elementAt(i); Thread.sleep(200); System.out.println("reading " + i); String s = ""; if (c.in.ready() == true) { s = c.in.readLine(); //System.out.println(i + "> "+ s); if (s == "/quit") { System.out.println("quitted"); } if(! s.equals("")) { for(int j = 0; j < connectionList.size(); j++) { Connection c2 = connectionList.elementAt(j); c2.out.println(s); } } } } catch(Exception e){ System.out.println("reading error"); } } } } }

  • Action property of interface type

    - by Daniel
    Hi, guys. With my understading, the nature of a Action is that properties can be pushed w/ request parameter values. And, one wonderful feature is that Struts2 allows you to directly populate parameter values against Class type property ;) Assuming there exists a Action and property class as below, class Action extends ActionSupport { User user; @Action(value="hello" {@result=(.......)}) public void execute() { ........ } ..... public void setUser(User user) { this.user = user; } public User getUser() { return this.user; } } class User { String name; ..... public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public String getName() { return this.name; } } you could populate User class property by doing like this. http://...../hello.action?user.name=John or via jsp page Then, I realize that there are actually people make an Action property as a Interface type. My question is what is the reason behind this. If there is a sample code demonstrating it will be great. Thanks in advance!

  • Java KeyListener in separate class

    - by Chris
    So I have my main class here, where basically creates a new jframe and adds a world object to it. The world object is basically where all drawing and keylistening would take place... public class Blobs extends JFrame{ public Blobs() { super("Blobs :) - By Chris Tanaka"); setVisible(true); setResizable(false); setSize(1000, 1000); setIgnoreRepaint(true); setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE); add(new World()); } public static void main(String[] args) { new Blobs(); } } How exactly would you get key input from the world class? (So far I have my world class extending a jpanel and implementing a keylistener. In the constructor i addKeyListener(this). I also have these methods since they are auto implemented: public void keyPressed(KeyEvent e) { if (e.getKeyCode() == KeyEvent.VK_W) System.out.println("Hi"); } public void keyReleased(KeyEvent e) {} public void keyTyped(KeyEvent e) {} However this does not seem to work?

  • @PrePersist with entity inheritance

    - by gerry
    I'm having some problems with inheritance and the @PrePersist annotation. My source code looks like the following: _the 'base' class with the annotated updateDates() method: @javax.persistence.Entity @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceType.TABLE_PER_CLASS) public class Base implements Serializable{ ... @Id @GeneratedValue protected Long id; ... @Column(nullable=false) @Temporal(TemporalType.TIMESTAMP) private Date creationDate; @Column(nullable=false) @Temporal(TemporalType.TIMESTAMP) private Date lastModificationDate; ... public Date getCreationDate() { return creationDate; } public void setCreationDate(Date creationDate) { this.creationDate = creationDate; } public Date getLastModificationDate() { return lastModificationDate; } public void setLastModificationDate(Date lastModificationDate) { this.lastModificationDate = lastModificationDate; } ... @PrePersist protected void updateDates() { if (creationDate == null) { creationDate = new Date(); } lastModificationDate = new Date(); } } _ now the 'Child' class that should inherit all methods "and annotations" from the base class: @javax.persistence.Entity @NamedQueries({ @NamedQuery(name=Sensor.QUERY_FIND_ALL, query="SELECT s FROM Sensor s") }) public class Sensor extends Entity { ... // additional attributes @Column(nullable=false) protected String value; ... // additional getters, setters ... } If I store/persist instances of the Base class to the database, everything works fine. The dates are getting updated. But now, if I want to persist a child instance, the database throws the following exception: MySQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException: Column 'CREATIONDATE' cannot be null So, in my opinion, this is caused because in Child the method "@PrePersist protected void updateDates()" is not called/invoked before persisting the instances to the database. What is wrong with my code?
