• Windows Mobile camera capture issue with DirectShow

  I wrote a C# application that uses DirectShow to allow users to take photos with the camera attached to a Windows Mobile 6 phone. The problem I spotted out is that the preview functionality stops working after a period of not using it. How could I determine what's causing this ? Is there a timeout in Windows registry that tells how much time the camera should stay on ? This is very strange as my code runs perfect when turning on/off the camera quickly enough (i.e. not letting the camera off more than ~15 seconds).

For example, you can add a method (with a default implementation) to an abstract class without breaking old implementations of the class". What does it mean (especially what means "breaking old implementations of the class")? • Float Issue in IE

  Ok I am making a simulated OS type interface. It should open up windows and have a drag handle. This all works perfectly. Then I added a image for an exit button I floated to the right... this made IE mad and IE screwed with the sizing and positioning =[ I've tried a crap load of things. None of which work. • stripe payment issue ruby on rails

  So I have made a stripe payment option in my app. When I click the button pay now, it shows me that the payment is successful. and when I go to my stripe account and go to stripe-test and check logs, I can see my test payment with the code 200 OK. But this payment doesn't show in stripe-test events, or in stripe-test payments. • Letter spacing issue with 'overlapping' character

  I'm having some trouble with a font I found on Google Web Fonts. As you can see in the image posted below, the capital V in 'Versus' overlaps with the 'e' when i'm using Firefox. Though when i'm using Chrome (or IE) it does not overlap and leaves me with an ugly space between the two characters. Is there any way to fix this and make it look like the one in Firefox? Or should I start looking for another font? It working fine of Windows XP, but on windows Vista and Windows 7 its installation is blocked by UAC (User account control), and when I disable it, all things works fine... I have signed my .cab file with a certificate for development enviornment... What is the way to over come this problem.. I don't want to tell users to disable their UAC module...

  Two models (Rails 2.3.8): User; username & disabled properties; User has_one :profile Profile; full_name & hidden properties I am trying to create a named_scope that eliminate the disabled=1 and hidden=1 User-Profiles. Moreover, while the User model is usually used in conjunction with the Profile model, I would like the flexibility to be able specify this using the :include = :profile syntax. I have the following User named_scope: named_scope :visible, { :joins => "INNER JOIN profiles ON users.id=profiles.user_id", :conditions => ["users.disabled = ? AND profiles.hidden = ?", false, false] } This works as expected when just reference the User model: >> User.visible.map(&:username).flatten => ["user a", "user b", "user c", "user d"] However, when I attempt to include the Profile model: User.visible(:include=> :profiles).profile.map(&:full_name).flatten I get an error that reads: NoMethodError: undefined method `profile' for #<User:0x1030bc828> Am I able to cross model-collection boundaries in this manner?

• Issue with Visual C++ 2010 (Express) External Tools command

  I posted this on SuperUser...but I was hoping the pros here at SO might have a good idea about how to fix this as well.... Normally we develop in VS 2005 Pro, but I wanted to give VS 2010 a spin. We have custom build tools based off of GNU make tools that are called when creating an executable. This is the error that I see whenever I call my external tool: ...\gnu\make.exe): * couldn't commit memory for cygwin heap, Win32 error 487 The caveat is that it still works perfectly fine in VS2005, as well as being called straight from the command line. Also, my external tool is setup exactly the same as in VS 2005. Is there some setting somewhere that could cause this error to be thrown?

• Element Positioning affected by Browser Screen Resolution Change

  Hello, newbie developer here. There's this small problem I always encounter. Every time I try to change browser resolution (or what do you call the event when you scroll the mouse wheel while pressing ctrl), some elements (Mostly form elements) get to be shifted down or somewhere else, which does not conform with the original positioning. Im not sure if the problem is with the CSS or the markup itself and Im not really sure if this is much of a problem. Should I ignore it? (It doesn't feel very comfortable though, thinking that it might become problematic in the near future) Otherwise, any solution on how to avoid this? Simple explanations are very much appreciated, Thanks. (Perhaps the used term newbie should be replaced with noob?. Haha.)

• PhoneGap 1.5 (Cordova) + ChildBrowser Whitelist Issue

  I am creating an app using PhoneGap 1.5 (Cordova) and the ChildBrowser Plugin (newest version with naming for PG 1.5 / Cordova.) I use the ChildBrowser plugin to display webpages, PDFs etc. in the app. In previous versions of PG the Whitelist wasn't as restrictive and would load external resources (css/js etc.) located on remote servers / CDNs called from webpages displayed in the ChildBrowser as long as the main URL was Whitelisted. This appears to have changed and I cannot find a way around it. Is there a way to allow all URLs to be whitelisted as long as they are loaded through an already whitelisted URL, or is whitelisting every single possible URL the only way? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

• Javascript iframe caching issue

  I hava an iframe which loads some javascript via javascript. In internet explorer only, this works if and only if IE has a cached copy of the javascript. This means that reloading the page (or otherwise triggering the script to run again, if it's stuck in a function or whatever) will cause this code to work, otherwise it will not. In particular, the document.write call fails to happen. There is a javascript being rendered on the resulting HTML page that requires a strict doctype in order to work across all browsers. However, I cant get the doctype to show up. Any thoughts on this?   I have a form in a large box, to be filled in by the user with up to 2500 characters. Currently, the cursor starts in the vertical center of the box and I would like: a) The cursor to start at the top left of the field instead of the middle left, so that there is no whitespace above the user's entered text. or b) Somehow enabling a field that expands to fit its text to expand as the text is being entered. As far as I can tell, text fields set to expand to fit the text inside only expand once the user has taken their cursor off the field. Thanks for your help!

• Makefile issue with compiling a C++ program

  I recently got MySQL compiled and working on Cygwin, and got a simple test example from online to verify that it worked. The test example compiled and ran successfully. However, when incorporating MySQL in a hobby project of mine it isn't compiling which I believe is due to how the Makefile is setup, I have no experience with Makefiles and after reading tutorials about them, I have a better grasp but still can't get it working correctly.   Hello, Could you explain me, why Makefile rule: clean: rm -f foo.{bar1,bar2,bar3} does not result in removing files: foo.bar1 foo.bar2 and foo.bar3? I believe I saw pattern like that many times in various Makefiles, but I'm currently writing my own Makefile and can't make that rule work correctly (no files are removed). I'm using: gnu make 3.81 gnu bash 4.1.5 Bash evals that pattern as I suspect: $ echo test.{a,b,c} test.a test.b test.c Thanks!

• OpenExeConfiguration Path Issue

  I'm trying to load an web.config from a server. Its placed at: \server\folders\web.config when i try this: ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(@"\\server\folders\web.config"); it searches for: web.config.config and fails. ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(@"\\server\folders\web"); it fails, because there is no folder \server\folders\web\ So i tried several things and it seems as its checking wether the file the path is pointing on exists, and afterwards it appliers a .config and gets the config file. Just for fun i created an web.loaders file, and a web.loaders.config file. with ConfigurationManager.OpenExeConfiguration(@"\\server\folders\web.local"); it loads the \server\folders\web.local.config perfectly, but throws Exceptions without the web.local file. So there a many ways to get this small thing loaded, but isn't there a more nice one than using a temp .web file or something? Any help i highly appreciated, yours Harry

  So I'm writing an application that will do a little screen scrapping. All the pages (about 1000 or so) contain this line: <table border="0" cellspacing="3"> <tr><td>First rows stuff</td></tr> <tr> <td> The data I want is in here <br /> and it's seperated by these annoying <br /> 's. No id's, classes, or even a single <p> tag. Just a bunch of <br /> tags. </td> </tr> </table> So I just need to get the data within the 2nd row out. How can I do this? Should I use a regex or something else?

• Filling a screen width

  I'm really struggling to tidy up a web site I am building for someone. I've spent hours on trying to figure this out! I have limited knowledge so the code would be helpful. They want the section at the top (originally two images, now I'm trying background images and css) to fill the width of the browser- no matter what size it is. Does anyone know how to do this? Similarly, is there a setting to get text to fill 100% width of the box, no matter what? I would seriously appreciate even someone helping me move on a step! they want everything to sit tight and inline, in some browsers/screens it does but on mine it spreads out with lots of white space. www.thegees.co.uk is the site.

  Hey All, Okay, so I have a viewController method that has some elements created with interface builder and some I coded myself. I created a view in the IB...lets call it viewOne. I created a loop that creates buttons (through code) and places them on a separate view (viewTwo). This is done in a class method. However, I want the view I made to be opened everytime one of the buttons is clicked. So I did: [button addTarget:self action:@selector(woogoo:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The woogoo class does the following: +(void) woogoo:(id)sender { //back button [self.view addSubview:viewOne] } However, the program crashes when a button is clicked. I did try making woogoo an instance method but it also crashes in this case too. All I want to do is show viewOne when a button is clicked. Any ideas what I can do?
