  • OSX 10.6 integration into NIS/netgroup/automount infrastructure

    I have an existing infrastructure where accounts are maintained under NIS (yp) with no local unix accounts. Also, all the standard maps including hosts, mail aliases, netgroups, etc...are maintained in this form. Extensive use of the UNIX/Linux automounter with items scattered over the network on NFS servers. There are NO ACLs on any local or shared files. All mail needs to use basically the nullclient sendmail configuration feeding into a different system. I now have a requirement to integrate an Apple OSX 10.6 system into this environment and make it run seamlessly. My initial reading and second-hand information seems to indicate that this may not be possible on the native OSX 10.6 system. I'm concerned. Any ideas as to how to accomplish this task and make everybody happy? Thanks PS: I have never used an Apple OSX system.

  • Export GFI MailArchiver e-mails for import into Exchange 2010 SP1 Personal Archiving

    We have an existing installation of GFI MailArchiver 5 with several databases of archives (perhaps 100-150GB). The goal is to export each user's archived e-mail and then import it into Exchange 2010 SP1 Personal Archives. GFI has a tool to do this, but it's very rudimentary and has severe, frankly unworkable, limitations. It only allows me to query based on the e-mail headers. Due to the fact that we have multiple aliases that may show in multiple headers (To:, Cc:), not to mention the fact that this won't cover a user's membership in a distribution group at a given point in time, this tool will not suffice. Another option is for me extract the e-mails from the GFI databases without using the tool, but this would require me to write my own tool to reconstruct them and I really would rather not go down that path. I feel very stuck on this issue. Has anyone here done a similar migration? How can this best be handled?

    exp data is generated by my mc scaler card as a binary file with first 511 bytes as header and then 24 bit data followed by four bit roi data. i am not a expert in programming. i do understand a little. I would like to convert this file into a file (without header) decimal nos with first col as channel no (1 to 8191) then the data (24 bit) then the Roi data (4 bit). I am looking for source code in c or qbasic. thanks

How can I make the values to appear as binary 0 or 1 values?   • How to automatically make a change to Outlook Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings

    I need to make a change on all computers in our domain. Specifically I need to make a change to the Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings. Our users have Outlook 2010 installed. These setting can be mannually accessed from: Control Panel - Mail - E-mail Accounts - (Select Account) - Change Account - More Settings - Connection Tab - Exchange Proxy Settings I need to have both the "On fast networks" and "On slow networks" check boxes selected. Obviously the idea of asking my users to go through the process above to make these changes is not ideal. Therefore I looking for advice on how I can automatically push these setting to my user base. I have seached the registry but I have been unable to find the location that this setting is saved. Thanks for any help!

  • Firefox's master password does not protect my web accounts

    I've set up a master password in Firefox 3.6 but it's not working as I expected. I always save my passwords within Firefox for frequently visited sites like Facebook, Yahoo! mail, Gmail, Twitter etc. and this way I don't have to type in my password every time I open that site. When I open Firefox, it asks for the master password but when I click Cancel, it opens normally, and lets me directly in my Facebook page, or Yahoo! Mail page. Why doesn't it protect my accounts? This way, anyone using my computer can see my accounts and it's totally pointless for me to use this master password. How can I protect my accounts with saved passwords in Firefox?

  • What is correct HTTP status code when redirecting to a login page?

    When a user is not logged in and tries to access an page that requires login, what is the correct HTTP status code for a redirect to the login page? I don't feel that any of the 3xx fit that description. 10.3.1 300 Multiple Choices The requested resource corresponds to any one of a set of representations, each with its own specific location, and agent- driven negotiation information (section 12) is being provided so that the user (or user agent) can select a preferred representation and redirect its request to that location. Unless it was a HEAD request, the response SHOULD include an entity containing a list of resource characteristics and location(s) from which the user or user agent can choose the one most appropriate. The entity format is specified by the media type given in the Content- Type header field. Depending upon the format and the capabilities of the user agent, selection of the most appropriate choice MAY be performed automatically. However, this specification does not define any standard for such automatic selection. If the server has a preferred choice of representation, it SHOULD include the specific URI for that representation in the Location field; user agents MAY use the Location field value for automatic redirection. This response is cacheable unless indicated otherwise. 10.3.2 301 Moved Permanently The requested resource has been assigned a new permanent URI and any future references to this resource SHOULD use one of the returned URIs. Clients with link editing capabilities ought to automatically re-link references to the Request-URI to one or more of the new references returned by the server, where possible. This response is cacheable unless indicated otherwise. The new permanent URI SHOULD be given by the Location field in the response. Unless the request method was HEAD, the entity of the response SHOULD contain a short hypertext note with a hyperlink to the new URI(s). If the 301 status code is received in response to a request other than GET or HEAD, the user agent MUST NOT automatically redirect the request unless it can be confirmed by the user, since this might change the conditions under which the request was issued. Note: When automatically redirecting a POST request after receiving a 301 status code, some existing HTTP/1.0 user agents will erroneously change it into a GET request. 10.3.3 302 Found The requested resource resides temporarily under a different URI. This response is only cacheable if indicated by a Cache-Control or Expires header field. The temporary URI SHOULD be given by the Location field in the response. Note: RFC 1945 and RFC 2068 specify that the client is not allowed to change the method on the redirected request. However, most existing user agent implementations treat 302 as if it were a 303 response, performing a GET on the Location field-value regardless of the original request method. The status codes 303 and 307 have been added for servers that wish to make unambiguously clear which kind of reaction is expected of the client. 10.3.4 303 See Other The response to the request can be found under a different URI and SHOULD be retrieved using a GET method on that resource. This method exists primarily to allow the output of a POST-activated script to redirect the user agent to a selected resource. The new URI is not a substitute reference for the originally requested resource. The 303 response MUST NOT be cached, but the response to the second (redirected) request might be cacheable. The different URI SHOULD be given by the Location field in the response. Unless the request method was HEAD, the entity of the response SHOULD contain a short hypertext note with a hyperlink to the new URI(s). Note: Many pre-HTTP/1.1 user agents do not understand the 303 status. When interoperability with such clients is a concern, the 302 status code may be used instead, since most user agents react to a 302 response as described here for 303. 10.3.5 304 Not Modified If the client has performed a conditional GET request and access is allowed, but the document has not been modified, the server SHOULD respond with this status code. The 304 response MUST NOT contain a message-body, and thus is always terminated by the first empty line after the header fields. The response MUST include the following header fields: - Date, unless its omission is required by section 14.18.1 If a clockless origin server obeys these rules, and proxies and clients add their own Date to any response received without one (as already specified by [RFC 2068], section 14.19), caches will operate correctly. - ETag and/or Content-Location, if the header would have been sent in a 200 response to the same request - Expires, Cache-Control, and/or Vary, if the field-value might differ from that sent in any previous response for the same variant If the conditional GET used a strong cache validator (see section 13.3.3), the response SHOULD NOT include other entity-headers. Otherwise (i.e., the conditional GET used a weak validator), the response MUST NOT include other entity-headers; this prevents inconsistencies between cached entity-bodies and updated headers. If a 304 response indicates an entity not currently cached, then the cache MUST disregard the response and repeat the request without the conditional. If a cache uses a received 304 response to update a cache entry, the cache MUST update the entry to reflect any new field values given in the response. 10.3.6 305 Use Proxy The requested resource MUST be accessed through the proxy given by the Location field. The Location field gives the URI of the proxy. The recipient is expected to repeat this single request via the proxy. 305 responses MUST only be generated by origin servers. Note: RFC 2068 was not clear that 305 was intended to redirect a single request, and to be generated by origin servers only. Not observing these limitations has significant security consequences. 10.3.7 306 (Unused) The 306 status code was used in a previous version of the specification, is no longer used, and the code is reserved. 10.3.8 307 Temporary Redirect The requested resource resides temporarily under a different URI. Since the redirection MAY be altered on occasion, the client SHOULD continue to use the Request-URI for future requests. This response is only cacheable if indicated by a Cache-Control or Expires header field. The temporary URI SHOULD be given by the Location field in the response. If the 307 status code is received in response to a request other than GET or HEAD, the user agent MUST NOT automatically redirect the request unless it can be confirmed by the user, since this might change the conditions under which the request was issued. I'm using 302 for now, until I find THE correct answer.

  • Server error 500: Undefinable problem with my Zend Framework based site

    Lately I had to reinstall my development site on my ubuntu machine since my system crashed after an os update. 4 days later my site is still not running as it should. Whenever i do an action which has in it an action on a database, it stops working.     Hello All, If I define something in a pre-compiled header like: #define __BUILD_MAC__ and then in a header file do: #ifdef __BUILD_MAC__ typedef void* HINSTANCE; #endif This should work. But for some reason It isn't. I know because when I compile I get errors about HINSTANCE not naming a type. Do I need to do anything else to make these defines available?

    Hi I hope someone can help me... I accidentally renamed my own user name on my mac running OS X 10.4.11 and tried renaming back to what it was but now I have two accounts (the one I want to use which has all my preferences, applications, mail boxes, etc etc) is it possible to copy my settings from my original into this new user name? When I open my computer it defaults to this new account but everything is setting up from new and I just need to get access to all my work documents, mail settings etc. If there is anyone who could help out, I would be very grateful.     I am helping a friend with his website, and am having a problem with his webmail configuration, which I suspect is due to a misconfigured MX record. His domain is registered and hosted by hostmonster, they have a webmail option. A record: Host Points To TTL webmail 12.345.789.101 14400 CNAME: mail webmail.d.com 14400 MX Record: 0 @ mail.d.com 14400 I've created an email account on hostmonster, [email protected]: however, when I sent an email to this account, it appears to be routing to /dev/null. I know that it's not actually, but am unsure of the steps I can take to track this down? I've tried using dig, but am unsure where to start. How can I track down where this email is being routed to?

    Hi, I have sendmail MTA and i use pear:Mail class to send mails through remote sendmail server. Everything was fine till yesterday. Probably nothing changes was made in configs. Packets are deliverd to sendmail server i can see it in tcpdump, but there is smaller packets than on other server which sends emails. Could you tell me how can i check what is wrong with that? D.S.

    I am looking for a hosted email service for a handful of email accounts. It needs to be very reliable and provide a nice web mail interface. I would like an admin where I can manage accounts. I've used Communigate before, it's functional but ugly. Exchange web mail is feature rich enough, but isn't as performant as the later two contestants. I am currently paying $50/yearly for hosted Gmail through Google. The features of the web email client are fine for personal use, but not flexible enough for professional use. The administration tools also suck. In short, I want a hosted service with a better experience than gmail or Communigate but is still speedy.

    Lets say I have a domain that I run a web app on, for example cranketywidgets.com, and I'm using google apps for handle email for people work work on that domain, i.e. support@ cranketywidgets.com, [email protected], [email protected] and so on. Google's own mail services aren't always the best for sending automated reminder emails, comment notifications and so on, so the current solution I plan to pursue is to create a separate subdomain called mailer.cranketywidgets.com, run a mail server off it, and create a few accounts specifically for sending these kinds of emails. What should the mx records and a records look like here for this? I'm somewhat confused by the fact that mx records can be names, but that they must eventually resolve to an A record. I'm getting lost, and I really need advice on how to structure this mess up in a good and sensible way. I have tried to find good open source examples of structuring Win32 code, but I just get more confused since there are hundreds of files, and within each of these files that seem GUI related, the Win32 GUI code seems so far encapsulated away. And when I finally find a CreateWindowEx statement, the window proc is nowhere to be found. Any advice on how to structure all the code while remaining sane would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I don't wish to use any libraries or frameworks as I find the Win32 API interesting and valuable for learning. Any insight into how you structure your own GUI code could perhaps serve as inspiration.
