• Is the sql backend right choice for LDAP?

  Hi, I have felt some troubles with LDAP dif database after unexpected system reboots. This databse was only read so it is confused why database have had errors. So im searching for replacement of this database. I think SQL would be more reliable. What do you think, is it? I need to know how much performance loss i'll meet then. How many more IOPS(I/O per second) in percentage I loss too. Thanks in advance, skomak

• Can't send emails through sendmail, error occured

  Hi, I have sendmail MTA and i use pear:Mail class to send mails through remote sendmail server. Everything was fine till yesterday. Probably nothing changes was made in configs. At maillog i can see: May 6 12:58:55 xxx sendmail[25903]: STARTTLS=server, relay=hostxxxx.static.xx.xx.pl [85.x.x.x], version=TLSv1/SSLv3, verify=NO, cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA, bits=256/256 May 6 12:58:56 xxx sendmail[25903]: o46AwtqE025903: hostxxxx.static.xx.xx.pl [85.x.x.x] did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA2 and in /var/log/messages: May 6 13:00:17 lilia sendmail[27193]: realm changed: authentication aborted I use ldap to authenticate users but i used the same script to check mailing on another server and it works there good, only this server behave weird. Packets are deliverd to sendmail server i can see it in tcpdump, but there is smaller packets than on other server which sends emails. Could you tell me how can i check what is wrong with that? D.S.

• What is better to have more LUNs or more Storages

  Hi, what is better to have - more LUNs or more Storages. Actually i have 1 storage ESXi per 1 LUN so there are about 15 LUNs and 15 storages. Now there is a kind of problem because the LUNs have different space allocated so if i remove 2 LUNs f.e. 1 2 3 4 [x] 6 [x] 8 9 (like that) i can't make 1 LUN from 5 and 7 pieces of free diskspace on IBM storage array. It's a first argument to not have a lot of LUNs. If i had to make only a few LUNs (about 3) and inside some Storage from ESXi would it be a better idea? For example for expanding storage capacity? i look for good solutions. Thanks in advance.

Where is my space? I can't figure it out :(

• how to give read access to logs

  Hi, How can i give read access to logs for other users? Perhaps the solution is to set group for this files and add some users there. But how to do that for /var/log/maillog? I mean, logrotate will reset perms? If i change group from root to another won't it generate any problems? Actual state: -rw------- 1 root root 337M kwi 22 15:40 maillog

• vihostupdate, many patches at once

  Hi, i have ESXi 4.0 installed so i want to install all patch bundles available using vihostupdate.pl script from vm perl sdk. I can install it by typing: vihostupdate.pl -server 192.168.1.177 -b "C:\Documents and Settings\dawids\Pulpit\patche\ESXi-4.0.0-update01.zip" -i then patch 2,3 etc. But I would like to install them all at once, is there such possibility? Maybe there is possible to use vihostupdate patch1 then vihostupdate patch2... and after all patching reboot instead rebooting after 1 patch bundle. How is it working?

  Hi, i can't figure out how apply deny access to a directory. Here is my config: <VirtualHost x.x.x.x:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/html/wwwhtml ServerName mydomain.com ServerAdmin [email protected] ErrorLog /var/log/httpd/mydomain_error.log TransferLog /var/log/httpd/mydomain_access_log Alias /test /var/www/html/wwwhtml/eventum <Directory /var/www/html/wwwhtml/eventum> Order deny,allow Deny from all #Allow from 192.168.0 </Directory> I deny access to /test but it doesn't work, on my another server it works perfectly :/ Do you know what can cause that problem? How to solve it? It is not whole config but the most important part. Maybe file rewrites can cause it? Thanks in advance.
