• Unescape _xHHHH_ XML escape sequences using Python

  I'm using Python 2.x [not negotiable] to read XML documents [created by others] that allow the content of many elements to contain characters that are not valid XML characters by escaping them using the _xHHHH_ convention e.g. ASCII BEL aka U+0007 is represented by the 7-character sequence u"_x0007_". Neither the functionality that allows representation of any old character in the document nor the manner of escaping is negotiable. I'm parsing the documents using cElementTree or lxml [semi-negotiable]. • PHP: Writing non-english characters to XML - encoding problem

  Hello, I wrote a small PHP script to edit the site news XML file. I used DOM to manipulate the XML (Loading, writing, editing). It works fine when writing English characters, but when non-English characters are written, PHP throws an error when trying to load the file. If I manually type non-English characters into the file - it's loaded perfectly fine, but if PHP writes the non-English characters the encoding goes wrong, although I specified the utf-8 encoding. Any help is appreciated.   I am coding MS SQL 2005 trigger. I want to make some logging during trigger execution, using INSERT statement into my log table. When there occurs error during execution, I want to raise error and cancel action that cause trigger execution, but not to lose log records. What is the best way to achieve this? Now my trigger logs everything except situation when there is error - because of ROLLBACK. RAISERROR statement is needed in order to inform calling program about error. Now I want to implement a multiply method which multiplies Matrix A with Matrix B and stores the result in Matrix C. Some OpenGL implementations (Like the OpenGL ES stuff in Android) provide native code for this but others doesn't. So I want to provide a generic multiplication method for these implementations.

  REPHRASED QUESTION: I am coming up with a list of possible image bit depth values that could be used as a predefined reference list in my application. I could think of 8,16,24 and 32 bit depths. The image formats considered are BMP, JPEG, PNG and GIF. I understand the bit depth decides the quality and thereby the storage requirements for the image. The application is used to store user uploaded images(non-medical, non-DICOM). Are there more bit depths other than the ones mentioned above that i should be including in my list? Are there any stats on the usage of the images with bit depths? Appreciate your response!

So: How do I - programmatically in C++ - detect the IP addresses of the linux server my application is running on. The servers will have at least two IP addresses and I need a specific one (the one in a given network (the public one)). I'm sure there is a simple function to do that - but where? [EDIT] To make things a bit clearer: The server will obviously have the "localhost": 127.0.0.1 The server will have an internal (management) IP address: 172.16.x.x The server will have an external (public) IP address: 80.190.x.x I need to find the external IP address to bind my application to it. Obviously I can also bind to INADDR_ANY (and actually that's what I do at the moment). I would prefer to detect the public address, though.

• SQL Server Multiple Joins Are Taxing The CPU

  I have a stored procedure on SQL Server 2005. It is pulling from a Table function, and has two joins. When the query is run using a load test it kills the CPU 100% across all 16 cores! I have determined that removing one of the joins makes the query run fine, but both taxes the CPU. • Linux servers going into Halt when pressing Control-D in putty or exit in the shell

  Since today at noon, there's a number of Linux CentOS servers which are going to Halt whenever i type exit or use Control-D to close the putty window. Did anyone encounter this weird behavior before? I've checked the aliases list on the servers and there is no alias regarding halt command. After the server came online i've checked the history and saw a "logout" command there but nothing which is related to Halt. At first, i thought it happens only from my computer but later i realized that it happens to everyone which types exit, logout or control+d. 2 of these server are our main iptables firewalls and so it's super critical, your assistance is much appreciated.   Hey, I would like to create a SDP media field with its attributes, and there are a few things I don't understand. I've skimmed and read the relevant RFC and I understand most of what each field means, but what I don't understand is how do I derive from the Audio/Video Format of the JMF, which parameters of the format compose the rtpmap registry entries I need to use. I see many times the fields m=audio 12548 RTP/AVP 0 8 101 a=rtpmap:0 PCMU/8000 a=rtpmap:8 PCMA/8000 a=rtpmap:101 telephone-event/8000 a=fmtp:101 0-16 a=silenceSupp:off - - - - a=ptime:20 a=sendrecv these are received from the pbx server I'm connecting to, what do they mean in the terms of the JMF audio format properties.   Hi All, Wanting to see the output of the compiler (in assembly) for some C code, I wrote a simple program in C and generated its assembly file using gcc.   Is there an API that allows you to define the maximum number of OpenAL "sources" allowed by the underlying sound hardware? Searching the internet, I found 2 recommendations : keep generating OpenAL sources till you get an error. However, there is a note in FreeSL (OpenAL wrapper) stating that this is "very bad and may even crash the library" assume you only have 16; why would anyone ever require more? (!) The second recommendation is even adopted by FreeSL. So, is there a common API to define the number of simultaneous "voices" supported? Thank you for your time, Bill

  Generally, I am bulding dynamic SQL statement that is executing using sp_executsql like this: EXEC sp_executesql @TempSQLStatement I need to insert the return result row set in something (table variable or temporary table), but I am getting the following error: Msg 208, Level 16, State 0, Line 1746 Invalid object name '#TempTable'. after executing this: INSERT INTO #TempTable EXEC sp_executesql @TempSQLStatement From what I have read, I believe the issue is caused because I am not specifying the columns of the temporary table, but I am not able to do this because the return columns count varies. I have read that I can use global temporary tables, but I have done this before and wonder is there an other way to do that.
