  • PHP5 giving failed to open stream: HTTP request failed error when using fopen.

    Hello everyone. This problem seems to have been discussed in the past everywhere on google and here, but I have yet to find a solution. A very simple fopen gives me a PHP Warning: fopen(http://www.google.ca): failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!". The URL I am fetching have no importance because even when I fetch http://www.google.com it doesnt work. The exact same script works on different server. The one failing is Ubuntu 10.04 and PHP 5.3.2. This is not a problem in my script, it's something different in my server or it might be a bug in PHP. I have tried using a user_agent in php.ini but no success. My allow_url_fopen is set to On. If you have any ideas, feel free!

  • Why is it I can't use my Windows installation both as a host and a guest?

    I have Linux installed on my harddrive, sometimes I run it as the host operating system and sometimes run it as a guest in Windows using VirtualBox. It's a nice ability, I think. I don't think it's possible with Windows though. Is it because your average distribution includes drivers for everything known to man? Are devices/drivers configured statically in Windows so when somethings changed it breaks?

  • In your ssh config is it possible to have one host entry for multiple machines on the same domain

    I'd like to be able to do something like Host * HostName *.mydomain.com ... So I can type something like ssh test ssh ci ssh dev Instead of having to type ssh test.mydomain.com ssh ci.mydomain.com ssh dev.mydomain.com Right now I have separate entries for each one, but we have dozens of machines, so I'd rather have a default rather than have to duplicate everything so many times.

  • using modrewrite to change http to https? (not redirect)

    This might sound a little crazy, but bare with me. I basically have an include file, lets say inc-navigation.html, that has absolute paths (http://www.pathtoimage.com/image.com) that are on EVERY PAGE. Well, using SSL, I can't use that same include file because it is not referencing https:// What a pain! SO, I was maybe thinking of using htaccess to do a url rewrite of all references of HTTP to HTTPS when the browser requests a https page. Again, just to be clear, I don't want to "redirect", just "replace". So, I have this.... RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on RewriteRule ^http$ https but it doesn't seem to be working. I probably have the syntax wrong though. :) Of course, this is even if this type of thing is even possible!?

  • HTTP Subdomain Redirect to HTTPS automatically. Why?

    I have 2 websites deployed in IIS 7.5 Express. The first website is the PRODUCTION website and the second is the TEST website. In the PRODUCTION website, I added an HTTPS binding and Require SSL so it is normal that it will force to redirect from HTTP to HTTPS. In the TEST website, I didn't add HTTPS binding and the Require SSL is disabled but I wonder why it still force to redirect from HTTP to HTTPS. Any idea why this happen? By the way, the PRODUCTION site uses the main domain (www.maindomain.com) and the TEST site uses only sub-domain (test.maindomain.com). I don't want the sub-domain to only use HTTP, not HTTPS. After setting up a few <VirtualHost>s in apache, I'd like to configure the _defualt_ ServerName so that it returns the 404 message. I.e., unless some explicitly available domain is specified in the Host http header, return 404. (Ideally something more direct than pointing to a now-nonexistent directory.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi, Its been a couple of weeks that some sites just keeps on hanging. e.g. Facebooks = static.ak.fbcdn.net FLicker = l.yimg.com GoogleAnalytics I've googled and found many problems like this and some answers which are outdated or just doesn't solve the problem. I did: Cookies clearing, ran cc cleaner and several other nifty methods. None solved my problem?? Only with facebook, if I enter https:// manually instead of http:// on every url on facebook, it works and when it does the redirection to http://, everytime I have to type 's' on the address bar to make it https:// It is driving me nuts coz I'm developing Facebook App and this problem in being pain in my ass. What might be the reason for these CDNs hanging behaviour??   • Can tomcat perform ssl redirection by filtering host alias?

    Hi, We have a tomcat server (6.0.20) running one web application behind two urls, e.g. www.foo and secure.foo This is configured in the server.xml as one host with a single alias: <Host name="www.foo" appBase="webapps"> <Context docBase="foo" path=""></Context> <Alias>secure.foo</Alias> </Host> Ideally we'd like any requests to secure.foo on port 80 to be automatically redirected to use ssl. However, I can only find instructions for redirecting based on the path after the hostname, so I could add a /* security constraint but then this would apply to both urls. Does anyone know if it's possible to apply the redirection by filtering on hostname requested? (We've already got the ssl connector, certificate, etc. working ok). I know we could do it by sticking an apache server in front of tomcat and handling the redirection there, but I'm curious to know if tomcat can do this on its own. Thanks

  • Hosting a website on Heroku.... I know how to, but im running into problems!

    I'm starting to learn more on the back-end scale of programing. Recently I started up Heroku for the second or third time. This time I actually installed the Git update to my Mac and installed Heroku in the terminal. I wanted to upload a static html site with the sinatra gem. Everything worked out fine inside the terminal, though I added sinatra after I got everything working and the file with the site hooked up to Heroku. In my logs I did see that I was missing the sinatra gem, so I installed it. My site contains both the proper app.rb and config.ru files. I have nothing showing up online. Just a blank screen! Contacting Heroku on this problem has been very difficult.
