  • Change the language of fields in Microsoft Word

    - by Martin Wiboe
Hi, I am using Word 2010 and some built-in features with fields, such as bibliography. My Word installation is English and I am writing a report in US English. However, my computer has its locale set to Denmark. This affects the formatting of dates and some of the text in the auto-generated fields (e.g. in bibliography it says "citeret:" instead of "cited:"). How can I change the language of the fields to US English? Thanks, Martin

  • Mouse and Keyboard Stop Working on Startup

    - by BoundforPNG
I have a Dell Optiplex 330 and have recently done a Windows XP repair. After it was finished I was able to use the computer just fine. Now I take it back to it's original location and plug in the OEM mouse and keyboard and they both work until Windows XP loads. As soon as windows loads the lights go out on both the keyboard and mouse.

  • Windows 8 Fails to resume from sleep

    - by AnonymousAppDev
I have this weird issue. When I put the computer to sleep by pressing the power button, or using the sleep option in Charms, I can wake it up normally. However, if I close the lid, and later reopen it, all the fans come on, but nothing appears on the screen. I didn't have this issue using Windows 7. Here are my system specs: HP G60-235DX Notebook PC Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 at 2.00Ghz 3 GBS of RAM Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with 1309MB of video memory Windows 8 Pro 64 bit

How do I fix this?

  • Fedora 13 post security update boot problem

    - by Alex
Hello. About a month ago I installed a security update that had new Kernek 2.6.34.x from 2.6.33.x), this is when the problem occurred for the first time. After the install my computer would not boot at all, black screen without any visible hard drive activity (I gave it good 30 minutes on black screen, before took actions)... I poped in installation DVD and went in rescue mode to change back the boot option to old kernel (was just a guess where the problem was). After restart computer loaded just file, took a long time for it to start because of SELinux targeted policy relabel is required. Relabeling could take very long time depending on file size. I assumed that the update got messed up somehow and continued working with modified boot option. Couple of days ago, there was another kernel update. I installed it and same problem as before. This rules out corrupted update theory... Black screen right after 'BIOS' screen before OS gets loaded. I had to rescue system again... Below is copy of my grub.conf file. I am fairly new to LINUX (couple of years of experience), mostly development and basic config... nothing crazy. # grub.conf generated by anaconda # # Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file # NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that # all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg. # root (hd0,0) # kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/mapper/vg_obalyuk-lv_root # initrd /initrd-[generic-]version.img #boot=/dev/sda default=2 timeout=0 splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz hiddenmenu title Fedora (2.6.34.6-54.fc13.i686.PAE) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.34.6-54.fc13.i686.PAE ro root=/dev/mapper/vg_obalyuk-lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_obalyuk/lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_obalyuk/lv_swap rd_NO_LUKS rd_NO_MD rd_NO_DM LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 KEYTABLE=us rhgb quiet initrd /initramfs-2.6.34.6-54.fc13.i686.PAE.img title Fedora (2.6.34.6-47.fc13.i686.PAE) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.34.6-47.fc13.i686.PAE ro root=/dev/mapper/vg_obalyuk-lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_obalyuk/lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_obalyuk/lv_swap rd_NO_LUKS rd_NO_MD rd_NO_DM LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 KEYTABLE=us rhgb quiet initrd /initramfs-2.6.34.6-47.fc13.i686.PAE.img title Fedora (2.6.33.8-149.fc13.i686.PAE) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.33.8-149.fc13.i686.PAE ro root=/dev/mapper/vg_obalyuk-lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_obalyuk/lv_root rd_LVM_LV=vg_obalyuk/lv_swap rd_NO_LUKS rd_NO_MD rd_NO_DM LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 KEYTABLE=us rhgb quiet initrd /initramfs-2.6.33.8-149.fc13.i686.PAE.img I like my system to be up to date... • Cannot find Power Management Tab in XP

    - by Andrew Heath
I have the problem that when I send my computer to sleep it wakes if you bump the table, floor, burp etc. I have read many threads that say go to Device Manager Mouse Properties Power Management Tab and uncheck the box for wake. My problem is I do not have a Power Management Tab! Anyone know how to enable the tab or stop the mouse from waking my machine? And no, turning it upside down doesn't work either!

  • Hitachi DFT hangs - Causes and workarounds?

    - by Ssvarc
Hitachi DFT hangs (it gets all the way to "Loading DFT" and hangs with a blinking cursor) when I use it on various computers (the latest computer to hang being a Dell Vostro 1000 laptop) and works on others. What determines when it will hang and when it won't? What similar program can I use (boot CD) that can determine HD health reliably? Thanks!

  • Netbook without Windows?

    - by drewk
I have been looking around for a netbook without Windows and with Ubuntu preinstalled. Almost all I have seen have Windows. The main issue is making sure that the computer ships with the right Ubuntu drivers and, hopefully, saving a little without having to pay for Windows. So far, I cannot find one.

  • Does a laptop with a GPU also use IGP?

    - by blee
I have a Thinkpad T60 with dual screen setup: The laptop's LCD: Is normal looking. VGA external monitor: Looks "wavy," but I hooked it up to another computer and it looked fine. Does this imply my GPU is connected to the VGA-out and the built-in LCD is driven by IGP? Is this typically how a laptop with one GPU works? Thanks.

  • Cannot uninstall XP SP3 update

    - by wfaulk
I need to uninstall Service Pack 3 because it broke a program I rely on (FrameMaker). I have done this before on other computers using Microsoft's SP3 uninstall instructions. However, on this computer, SP3 is not listed in Add/Remove Programs (and, yes, I have checked the "Show Updates" checkbox), there's no "$NtServicePackUninstall$" restore directory, and either Windows didn't create a restore point for the SP3 install or it has fallen off of the list of restorable points. Does anyone know of any other options?

Any idea where I could tweak it?

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 from my laptop onto a HDD in an external harddrive enclosure. I could not connect online so I plugged it into another computer and updated the system. Now when I plugged it back into my laptop, I cannot boot. It says "ALERT! /dev/sdd1 does not exist. Dropping to shell!" and has a shell that says (initramfs)
