  Hello I'm writing a program that uses QUdpSocket for transmiting data over the network. This is my first socket program, and I've come across an interesting problem called Endianness. My actual question in, do I have to worry about Endianness when I'm using QNetwork as my sockets library? If I do have to worry, what do I have to do to properly avoid Endianness problems?   Hello, I'm writing a standalone application and I thought using Entity Framework to store my data. At the moment the application is small so I can use a local database file to get started. The thing is that the local database file doesn't have the ability to auto generate integer primary keys as SQL Server does. Any suggestions how to manage primary keys for entities in a local database file that will be compatible with SQL Server in the future? Thanks, Ronny

• Why does StackExchange store images in imgur rather than its own servers? [migrated]

  I am trying to understand the technical (and business) logic behind taking such an approach. Certainly SE isn't short of server or bandwidth resources. I don't think imgur is a CDN, so that can't be the reason. On the one hand one is giving up local control (meaning your files, your hardware) of the content. On the other, you don't have to use your own bandwidth, storage and resources. Then again, you depend on someone else for the reliability and up-time of your service.

  I'm looking for a comprehensive and well maintained wiki syntax Parser for PHP, does anybody know of one? I can find some really good parsers for markdown and bbcode but am having trouble with finding a decent wiki parser. I prefer markdown myself, but I'm writing post functions for a CMS and I'd like to give end-users a choice. I thought about downloading a copy of MediaWiki and seeing how they do it, thoughts on this as an option?

  I'm writing an ASP.Net webform with some DropDownList controls on it. Then user changes selected item in one of dropdowns, ASP.Net doesn't seem to handle SelectedIndexChanged event until form is submitted with a 'Submit' button click. How do I make my dropdowns handle SelectedIndexChanged instantly? P.S. It's a classic question I have answered too many times, but it seems no one asked it before on stackoverflow.

• Visual studio has gone crazy trying to create files

  I downloaded Process Monitor and began monitoring my project directory that I am writing code in. I see endless entries every couple seconds of: Operation: Create File C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\csharp C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\code C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\web and so on for the rest of the templates Then it says the result is PATH NOT FOUND. What is happening? Has Visual Studio GONE CRAZY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

However, this only works if the file is local. If I was to fetch the image such that: import urllib2 resp = urllib2.urlopen("http://upload.com/people/tom.png") How would I pass resp.fp as a file object instead of writing it to a file and passing the filename? Is this possible?

But what about when you change window.location in a client-side script?   I'm working on re-writing a WinForms application into Silverlight. One use case in the WinForms app allows users to drag TIFF images (of faxes) from Outlook directly onto an "attach an image or fax to this case" control in the WinForms app. Is there a Silverlight 4 control which allows for the same functionality? It's important to realize that saving the file to the local filesystem and then selecting and uploading the file with a standard upload control will not meet the business requirements as outlined in the project.

How do I get access to the project corresponding to the current editor? The documentation on editor extensions doesn't seem to include information on how to access non-editor parts of Visual Studio. I did some searching and it looks like in VS2008 you could write add-ins that would access the project system, but I'm trying to get at this functionality from a MEF editor extension.
