  • Swap static public IPs without creating DNS conflicts?

    Our ISP is Comcast and we have 5 static public IPs from them that we use for various services, including customers connecting to our network, VPN, web, DNS, etc... We need more IP addresses from Comcast. Unfortunately, Comcast is telling us that they can't just simply give us 5 more addresses. They only give static IP addresses in blocks of 1, 5 or 13. In order for us to get more static IPs, they have to take away our current 5 static IPs and give us 13 new ones. How do we make this transition without causing all sorts of DNS chaos? We run public DNS servers, so we can make the DNS changes ourselves, but it will take some time obviously for those DNS changes to propagate throughout the internet. Are there any easy ways to make this transition? Like create some type of fallback DNS entry or something? Surely there must be some sort of procedure for this kind of thing. The Comcast support guy was useless.

    Hoping that somebody can help us understand this behavior. We've got a bunch of daemontools services under /etc/service/. One of the services controls apache, and the run script has this in it. exec envdir /var/lib/supervise/wwwproxy/env setuidgid root bash <<-BASH ulimit -n 8192 # also increase the running user's file descriptor limit exec apache2 -f /path/to/demo_apache2.conf -D FOREGROUND BASH We were having the problem that svc -d /etc/service/* actually had the effect of restarting all the services, it didn't take them down. We finally tracked it down to that one service, and found that svc -d /etc/service/apache2 would bring up any other service was down, including itself. Changing FOREGROUND to NO_DAEMONIZE fixes the behavior, but we'd really like to understand what's going on. Can anybody explain why an svc -d on one service would bring an other service up? Thanks for any clue you can offer.

  • Cloning a Windows server with VMWare ESXi without domain membership conflicts

    We are using VMWare ESXi 3.5, and have found it quite useful for cloning a live server to then use the virtualized version to test/practice software upgrades. The trouble is, when the virtualized version fires up, it registers itself on our domain (Active Directory), causing the original server to no longer be accessible via Windows shares. The fix is to remove the virtualized version from the domain, configuring it to use a workgroup instead, deleting the Computer account in AD, and then removing the real server from the domain and re-adding it. Is there a better procedure? Note, we cannot simply disconnect the virtual network from the virtualized server, as it needs to be connected to the network to actually be removed from the domain.

Mostly it is working, but every time I do a sync I get a lot of such errors: D500E7B8.tmp - A file was deleted on this computer and changed on the server while this computer was offline. There are hundreds of them. I always select all of them and choose resolution "Delete from both locations". But what is causing this and how can I avoid it? I suspect the reason is that we are using Debian and Samba (3.4.7) on our file server. I've been looking for some Samba options that would cure this, but with no success. I learned that probably the cause is, that both Word and Excel are using specific pattern to change files - they never change the original file, but instead always write a new temporary file and rename it to original file, when you click Save.   • nginx codeigniter rewrite: Controller name conflicts with directory

    I'm trying out nginx and porting my existing apache configuration to nginx. I have managed to reroute the codeigniter url's successfully, but I'm having a problem with one particular controller whose name coincides with a directory in site root. I managed to make my codeigniter url's work as it did in Apache except that, I have a particular url say http://localhost/hello which coincides with a hello directory in site root. Apache had no problem with this. But nginx routes to this directory instead of the controller. My reroute structure is as follows http://host_name/incoming_url => http://host_name/index.php/incoming_url All the codeigniter files are in site root.     I'm trying to use .NET HttpListener in a C# project. When I register my prefix "http://*:8080/" it does not seem to work for HTTPS urls (i.e. doesn't pick them up).   • Eclipse: Subclipse "Edit Conflicts"

    I have found that when using Subclipse to edit conflicts, all my syntax color settings are preserved except for the background color, which is reset to the standard white. Using my particular color scheme makes it almost impossible to read any of the text when stuck with a white background. Is there anywhere I can change this default background color? There doesn't seem to be any way to do this from the preferences window, but perhaps there is a config file somewhere I could edit? Any help would be very much appreciated (my eyes will thank you too)!

  • Slime in emacs seems has conflicts with autopair

    I have just install slime in emacs. And after removed all the other plugins for debuging, I found that slime seems had conflicts with autopair.(Or a bug of autopair?).In slime, when I typed C-c C-c, the minibuffer displayed error like: error in process filter: define-key: Wrong type argument: characterp, nil error in process filter: Wrong type argument: characterp, nil error in process filter: define-key: Wrong type argument: characterp, nil error in process filter: Wrong type argument: characterp, nil Even more, the error message still alerted after I killed the slime buffer. If I also remove the autopair plugin, slime works just fine. Can anyone tell me how to solve this? Thanks. :)

    I'm running Microsoft LightSwitch Beta 1 and have been creating an application which has been going great, but then I tried debugging after making a few minor changes and received the following error: "Could not load file or assembly 'SW_Resources.Commom, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The requested assembly version conflicts with what is already bound in the app domain or specified in the manifest. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131053)" I've tried emptying my cache in Firefox and IE but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I did discover if I right-clicked on the Solution and changed the version from 0.1 to 1.0 then it works fine. I had changed it to 0.1 b/c I wanted to reflect that it wasn't a release version...any thoughts on how to get around this issue the right way?

    Q:i have a general problem ,,when i wanna to do some thing and i find the jquery file which can do exactly what i wanna to do .. after a while i need another case and i find that another jquery file serve me and fix my problem .. after i add set of jquery files i find conflicts among those files and some features does not work or work in awkward manner ..and when i try to find which file exactly the source for those problems i find myself in closed circle cannot modify this file or cannot delete this file or cannot find that file itself at all ..sometimes the file like this:: <script src="http://jqueryjs.googlecode.com/files/jquery-1.3.js" type="text/javascript"></script> cannot modify it.. the problem has many faces ,, and i cannot really know how to handle the whole matter from the beginning... can any one give me instructions ,, advices,, notes, or explanation to prevent the problem from the beginning and how to fix it if it was happened..

  • How to detect column conflicts with Hibernate?

    So let's say I have an ArrayList full of Products that need to be committed to the database via Hibernate. There are already a large number of Products in the database. Each product has an ID. Note this is NOT the PK that is autogenerated by Hibernate. My questions is: what is the best way to detect conflicts with this ID? I am looking for a relatively efficient method of obtaining, from the the database, a List of Products that share an ID with any of the Products in my ArrayList. This is all in a single table called Products and the ID attribute is in column ProductID. The way I've done it is grabbing a list of all Products in the database, and compared each one with each entry in my ArrayList - but that is seriously inefficient and I don't think it would work well with a larger database. How should it be done? Thanks. I say "relatively" efficient because efficiency is not the primary concern, but it shouldn't take noticeably long to test against a table of ~1000-5000 rows. Help? EDIT* I'm very new to hibernate and below is the best I've come up with.   • Network - Routers conflicting in my subnet

    I have a router whose IP is 192.168.1.1 and I be experiencing conflict with another router on my subnet (which probably has 192.168.1.1 as IP too). I think when it tries to connect to the network, eventually taking the place of my router because when I try to access the config page of my router, which appears to me is a config page from another router that is not mine. Do you have any solution except to change the IP of my router to an IP not common? As I have set up the exclusivity that only my IP router? I work with dynamic IPs (wireless networking) and static (for wired). How do I? I just wanna to do some setting in my router that affects all other, so that doesn't conflicts anymore.

  • Uninstalling MySQL for MariaDB Replacement on cPanel

    Well the first part of my day was spent researching how to remove MySQL to install MariaDB and the second part of my day was spent trying to reinstall MySQL cause something was messed up. So now I come to the masses for some help. I have a box with cPanel/WHM on it. CentOS 5.6 64 bit. I have upgraded (through WHM) MySQL to 5.5.24 and that was successful. After some research, the options I found were an intimidating Linux command with pipes greps and dashes, and another command yum remove mysql I tried that out and it appeared to remove mysql.....ish.   • FastGate A20 Line And Himem.sys Issue With Updating BIOS

    I have been persistent with a thought to perform my first BIOS update ever through MS-DOS but have been postponing this task until today. Despite people telling me any bootable ISO will do it either through CD-ROM or RAMDRIVE, I am still having problems. First is the problem with CD-ROM driver trying to make it work with 4 driver files (cd1.SYS, cd2.SYS, cd3.SYS, cd4.SYS) as well as starting RAMDISK proved to be failure: CD-ROM XMS Allocation Error RAMDISK XMS Allocaton Error (X: and R: drives not working) This A20 line seemed to be the obstacle which then after a couple of searches pointed me to this article on Microsoft website. It seems that FastGate is the culprit which takes over A20 line and conflicts with himem.sys which should be handling it causing the driver to be unable to allocate memory resources. Albeit article suggests 2 workarounds which is disabling FastGate option or adding switch, I read that the former workaround could cause problems which involves later tinkering BIOS, disabling shadow copy etc. while the latter workaround can just hang system as stated in the link above. I assume it just hangs the boot process from image file though. Summing up the above, I am cautious and think it is risky to follow both workarounds because disabling FastGate or trying adding switch by trying available switches from 1-14 or 16, could crash the BIOS update process by itself. I could do this without the need for himem.sys with bootable USB thumbdrive by making it to be seen as USB-HDD, but some time ago I read that it is never a good idea to update BIOS from hard drive so even thought it is simulation, who knows... Maybe it will deactivate hard drive in the middle of the BIOS update process or even USB thumbdrive per se? One forum discussion was about updating BIOS and somebody suggested to not load himem.sys for some reason, but now that I think of it, what if BIOS update needs upper memory?

  • Resolving MSB3247 - Found conflicts between different versions of the same dependent assembly

    A .NET 3.5 solution ended up with this warning when compiling with msbuild. Sometimes NDepend might help out but in this case it didn't give any further details. Like Bob I ended up having to resort to opening each assembly in ILDASM until I found the one that was referencing an older version of the dependant assembly. I did try using MSBUILD from VS 2010 Beta 2 (as the Connect article indicated this was fixed in the next version of the CLR) but that didn't provide any more detail either (maybe fixed post Beta 2) Is there a better (more automated) approach?

    I'm having a problem with LINQ. I have 2 tables (Parent-child relation) Table1: Events (EventID, Description) Table2: Groups (GroupID, EventID(FK), Description) Now i want to create an Event an and a child. Event e = new Event(); e.Description = "test"; Datacontext.Events.InsertOnSubmit(event) Group g = new Group(); g.Description = "test2"; g.EventID = e.EventID; Datacontext.Groups.InsertOnSubmit(g); Datacontext.SubmitChanges(); When i debug, i can see that after inserting the event. the EventID has gotten a new value (auto increment). But when Datacontext.SubmitChanges(); gets called. I get the following exception "The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint ... I know this can be solved by creating a relation in the LINQ diagram between Events and groups. And then setting the entity itself. But i don't want to load the events everytime i ask a list of groups. All i need is some way that when inserting the group fails, the event insert won't be comitted in the database. Sorry if this is a bit unclear, My english isn't really good. Thanks in advance!

    I am trying to create an ActionScript 3 class that implements two interfaces. The interfaces contain member functions with different signatures but the same name: public interface IFoo { function doStuff(input:int):void; } public interface IBar { function doStuff(input1:String, input2:Number):void; } public class FooBar implements IFoo, IBar { // ??? } In C# this problem can be solved with explicit interface implementations, but as far as I can tell ActionScript does not have that feature. Is there any way to create a class that implements both interfaces?
