    Hi there, I have found this link http://smartclient.codeplex.com/ which has some updates for vs 2010 .... I don't know but i always seem to get confused i.e. lack of documentation etc..... but is this the same as Prism?? If not can anyone tell me where the differences are... It appears to be a link for designing smartclient so i presume its composite Or am i wrong? If i am indeed wrong, where is the link to prism and the vs 2010 templates? Any help would be really appreciated

  • How can I make a Prism webapp look like Firefox to a website? (user agent spoofing)

    I thought it would be cool to use Mozilla's Prism to create a webapp for min.us, but drag and drop is disallowed because the site doesn't see the program as Firefox, Chrome or Safari, those of which are apparently the only browsers allowed to do drag and drop for fear that something will be horribly broken. I'm pretty sure Prism runs on the same engine as Firefox, yet I wouldn't doubt it if Prism is running on an older version since it's kind of a forgotten beta. Anyways, like the title says, I want to be able to make Prism webapps appear look like Firefox to websites to unlock awesome features. Also, if it can only be done with Fluid, then I answers regarding that will be fine. I'm not sure what engine it's running though.

  • Problems with Prism hosted in a WinForm ElementHost

    I am having problems with hosting a WPF prism app in an ElementHost control and am desparate for help. The PRISM app runs fine in silverlight and in a standalone WPF. The main Shell seems to setup fine in the elementHost on a WinForm however other views only load with the “RegisterViewWithRegion” and not the “Add,Activate” procedure. I need “Add,Activate” for scoping. However I beleive the problem is that I am loading my shell twice … not on purpose. I cannot find a way to call the bootsrapper and set the elementHot without calling “Resolve” twice. Here is the code for my WinForm and my bootstrapper. Again everything works when using "RegisterViewWithRegion".   • Trace PRISM / CAL events (best practice?)

    Ok, this question is for people with either a deep knowledge of PRISM or some magic skills I just lack (yet). The Background is simple: Prism allows the declaration of events to which the user can subscribe or publish. In code this looks like this: _eventAggregator.GetEvent<LayoutChangedEvent>().Subscribe(UpdateUi, true); _eventAggregator.GetEvent<LayoutChangedEvent>().Publish("Some argument"); Now this is nice, especially because these events are strongly typed, and the declaration is a piece of cake: public class LayoutChangedEvent : CompositePresentationEvent<string> { } But now comes the hard part: I want to trace events in some way. I had the idea to subscribe using a lambda expression calling a simple log message. Worked perfectly in WPF, but in Silverlight there is some method access error (took me some time to figure out the reason).. If you want to see for yourself, try this in Silverlight: eA.GetEvent<VideoStartedEvent>().Subscribe(obj => TraceEvent(obj, "vSe", log)); If this would be possible, I would be happy, because I could easily trace all events using a single line to subscribe. But it does not... The alternative approach is writing a different functions for each event, and assign this function to the events. Why different functions? Well, I need to know WHICH event was published. If I use the same function for two different events I only get the payload as argument. I have now way to figure out which event caused the tracing message. I tried: using Reflection to get the causing event (not working) using a constructor in the event to enable each event to trace itself (not allowed) Any other ideas? Chris PS: Writing this text took me most likely longer than writing 20 functions for my 20 events, but I refuse to give up :-) I just had the idea to use postsharp, that would most likely work (although I am not sure, perhaps I end up having only information about the base class)..   • PRISM - Creating mouseoverbehavior causes a Silverlight library to not be visible in main Silverligh

    Created a simple Silverlight 4 application (SimpleApp) then added a Silverlight 4 library (LibraryA). Added code to the library (LibraryA) to implement MouseOverBehavior by inheriting from CommandBaseBehavior along with the appropriate attached property class/methods. Added reference in SimpleApp to LibraryA and went to MainPage.xaml to add namespace reference but it does not show up with Intellisense. Typing the namespace manually and then adding the attached MouseOver command works as it should as far as intellisense showing my attached property name, i.e. ... commands:MouseOver.Command="{Binding MousedOver}". However when I try to run it I get a XAML parser error saying that the "Command" attached property does not exist in MouseOver. If I move my class definitions from LibraryA to SimpleApp then everything works. I removed everything from LibraryA and just put one class with this in it: public class MouseOverBehavior : CommandBehaviorBase<Control> { public MouseOverBehavior(Control element) : base(element) {} } With this simple class in LibraryA it will not show up in XAML intellisense in SimpleApp. XAML intellisense works with other libraries that I have written that don't use PRISM. Don't know what I am missing hopefully it's something simple. I am using the latest SL4 build for PRISM change set 42969. Visual Studio 2010 RTM Professional in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

  • Using ASP.NET session state with Silverlight (PRISM)

    Hi, The scenario: I have a PRISM application developed in Silverlight (4), and I'm using a ASP.NET server side application to host several web-services (which, in turn, accesses WCF-services, but that's not really important here). The Silverlight application must be able to call the web services cross-domain (meaning that the web services isn't necessarily on the same server hosting the silverlight application). The Silverlight application consists of several modules, each accessing the ASP.NET web-services. I do not have much experience with Silverlight and PRISM, but as far as I can see, this is not a very unusual scenario... The problem: My challange is, that when 2 different modules access the web-services, I get 2 new sessions on the web-server. I would have thought that since both modules live on the same HTML-page (and then also in the same browser session), they would get the same session on the web-server...? I have tried to make the web-service Proxy-client globally available in the container (using Unity), by registering an instance (using Container.RegisterInstance), and then getting this instance whenever a module needs to make a web-service call (using Container.Resolve), but this doesn't seem to help. However, any calls made within the same module always gets the same session on the server. Can anyone see what I'm missing here...? Thanks! Jon

    I am building wpf edit form, that has two buttons, BeginEdit and Save And the form is bound to ViewModel that inherits from Prism's NotificationObject. There is a property called IsReadOnly And there are two commands that are Prism's DelegateCommands BeginEdit command and save command The code is here private DelegateCommand _beginEdit; public DelegateCommand BeginEdit { get { return _beginEdit ?? (_beginEdit = new DelegateCommand(() => this.IsReadOnly = false , () => IsReadOnly)); } } private bool _isReadOnly; public bool IsReadOnly { get { return _isReadOnly; } set { _isReadOnly = value; RaisePropertyChanged("IsReadOnly"); } } private DelegateCommand _saveEdit; public DelegateCommand SaveEdit { get { return _saveEdit ?? (_saveEdit = new DelegateCommand(() => this.IsReadOnly = true , () => !IsReadOnly)); } } So, as you see, the command will set IsReadOnly property to true or false, and CanExecute should get its value from the same property as well. It works when I start the form. But after I press BeginEdit, the buttons stays as the same, and the canExecute is not reflecting the new value of IsReadOnly

  • Silverlight prism region events

    In silverlight prism application I have a region (ContentControl) and would like to remove currently active view before adding another view. I tried to use region.PropertyChanged event but it doesn't fire. I can do it in the code where I add new view, but that will scatter my code. How to achieve this? Thanks for reply.

  • Prism: How to render one view on top of another

    We have a Prism/WPF application and are using an expander to animate a menu. When the expander expands, the content is rendered behind the main region's content. The menu is in a different region than the content it is supposed to overlay (since the menu governs what items go into that region) which is why this is occurring. We have tried setting the Z-Index of the ContentControls to no avail.

The application is going to grow soon(TM), and I'll be facing the need to host those modules in separate GUI elements. What type of GUI elements would you recommend to host the modules? Is it possible to data-bind a module to some control like a tab-control? How is it done? Is there some kind of a dock manager (similiar to AvalonDock) for Silverlight?

  • Composite events in locally scoped regions with Prism (CAL)

    I'm starting to train Prism (CAL) with a small application and faced some problems. I'm creating multiple instances of my MainView, which itself contains some regions, and display them in the Shell. I'm using locally scoped regions to easily handle view injections within my MainView. Currently I'm searching for a way of communication between the views (viewModels) inside the MainView. Composite events could do it, but when I publish those events, they are handled in all instances of my MainView, which I really don't want. Is there a way of raising "locally scoped" composite events like with locally scoped regions? Or may be there's a better way of communicating between views in my case?

    I have a module in a Prism application and in its initialize method I want to register a presenter instead of a view with a region, i.e. I want to do this: PSEUDO-CODE: regionManager.RegisterPresenterWithRegion( "MainRegion", typeof(Presenters.EditCustomerPresenter)); instead of loading a view like this: regionManager.RegisterViewWithRegion( "MainRegion", typeof(Views.EditCustomerView)); The presenter would of course bring along its own view and ultimately register this view in the region, but it would allow me to bind the presenter to the view in the presenter's constructor instead of binding the two together in XAML (which is more of a decoupled MVVM pattern which I want to avoid here).
