  • ListView - Index and Position Behavior upon restart()

    I am using a ListView with an ArrayAdapter that holds objects. When I select an item, I am capturing the position and index of the selected item. If I scroll down prior to selection, the position and index represent the location of the item in the list. Selecting that items takes me to another activity. When I use the back button to return to the list, it seems that the ListView get's a new position and index for the visible items. As a result, I can't figure out how to reference the selected item during the restart() of the ListView Activity. I have tried to caputure position and index, but as I've said, they change upon returning to the Activity. Is my understanding of the ListView "redraw" correct? Does it renumber my items based on what's visible? -When in the life cycle is getView() called? Is there a way to force an update to the ListView so that my caputured index still points to the same object? Thanks, Jason

    Is there any way to get mouse position relative to it's parent element? Let's say I have a structure: <div id="parent"> <span class="dot"></span> </div> When I bring my mouse over span element I need to get its position relative to its parent element (<div id="parent">). PageX/ClientX give me position relative to page/client area, so it's not working for me. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    I have a report which displays customer address in multiple labels. My customers use windowed envelopes for mailing. I need the address labels position to be configurable. Something like, I'll have a database table which stores the Top/Left position of each label per customer. Based on this table, I need to position the address labels on my report. I thought, it is doable by expressions, but Location property doesn't provides ability to set an expression and make the label's top and left dynamic. Anybody, any ideas, on how to achieve this?

    Say you have the following css applied to a div tag .divtagABS { position: absolute; margin-left: auto; margin-right:auto; } the margin-left and margin-right does not take effect but if you have relative, it works fine i.e. ,divtagREL { position: relative; margin-left: auto; margin-right:auto; } why is that? i just want to center an element can someone explain why setting margins to auto in absolute position does not work?

    Consider the following (applies to all IE6+ browsers -- including IE8): <div id="picture"> <div class="thumb" style="position: relative;"><img .. /></div> <p>Some description</p> </div> When I animate the opacity down to 0 it only works if I change the .thumb class to position: static. This has bigger problems because I use that to constrain absolutely positioned children to that container. I've tried all the hacks I have discovered, none work (bg-color, zoom, etc).   • Find position of a node within a nodeset using xpath

    After playing around with position() in vain I was googling around for a solution and arrived at this older stackoverflow question which almost describes my problem. The difference is that the nodeset I want the position within is dynamic, rather than a contiguous section of the document. To illustrate I'll modify the example from the linked question to match my requirements. Note that each <b> element is within a different <a> element. This is the critical bit. <root <a <bzyx</b </a <a <bwvu</b </a <a <btsr</b </a <a <bqpo</b </a </root Now if I queried, using XPath for a/b I'd get a nodeset of the four <b> nodes. I want to then find the position within that nodeset of the node that contains the string 'tsr'. The solution in the other post breaks down here: count(a/b[.='tsr']/preceding-sibling::*)+1 returns 1 because preceding-sibling is navigating the document rather than the context node-set. Is it possible to work within the context nodeset?

  • Getting rid of scroll bar for position: absolute inside of position:relative inside of overflow:auto

    Hey guys, my first question here on stack overflow. Trying to get something pretty simple to work, I'm sure I'm missing something quite obvious. Still getting used to the "standard" css, too many years working with non-functional ones! Heh. So, sample of what I'm doing: <div style="overflow: auto; border: 1px solid"> hello <div style="position: relative; z-index: 99999; top: 0px; left: 0px;"> <div style="z-index: 99999; overflow-y: hidden; position: absolute; overflow: hidden; height: 200px; left: 0; auto: 0"> <ul> <li >New</li> <li >Old</li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> In essence: The first div is a container, that I would like to automatically overflow as content is added. Inside of that container, I have a popup menu, which I have simplified here. The popup menu appears (as it should) directly under "hello". My problem, however, is that instead of the popup menu "coming out" of the parent, as would be expected by the absolute position, it is actually causing a scrollbar to appear on the parent. I know that if I take otu the "position: relative" it works, but then it no longer appars where I want it (directly under the previous element). What am I missing here?   • Android Market, Search results position Mystery.

    How is an app's position in the Android Market search results determined? Is it as mysterious and complex as Google Web search results? We obviously don't want to change any words in our app's title or description that would hurt our position. Same question applies for not only search results, but when clicking on a Category in the Android Market. How is the order of the list determined? Hopefully someone here can help. I would think that Google would have published some guidelines at least that could help, but I haven't found anything yet.

    Hi I have a listview inside a DIV which shows the scroll bars. At one time, let's say, 10 rows can be seen. I scroll down and click Edit on 25 row. To my surprise, the scroll goes to the first row (although if I go back to 25th row, the row is in edit mode) My issue, how I can make sure that the scroll bar maintains its position to 25th row after clicking on Edit button?   • Java Sound Clip Looping Frame Position

    Hi, I have a little problem with a loopting clip: If you have a soundfile e.g. 20000 samples long, the frame position will not reset after looping, so I get values that are "out of bounds" of the original soundfile. As I want to draw a position marker on my waveform, I'm a bit confused how to achive. At this time I just get myClip.getLongFramePosition() but this does not work as described above. Does anyone have an idea how to fix that? Is there a possibility to count how often a clip was looped before? Regards

CGPoint bottomCenter = CGPointMake((self.imageView.bounds.size.width / 2), (self.imageView.bounds.size.height * 0.8)); self.activityView.center = bottomCenter; (imageView is the full screen splash image) If the orientation is portrait, it is positioned perfectly, however turning on its side, in landscape or upside down portrait and the animation ends up miles away :S Does anyone know the correct way to position this loading animation, its for the splash screen.

A onmousemove event works fine (client + scroll), however when a onscroll event occurs clientX/Y seems to inherit scrollTop/Left values instead (only scroll).     I use Visual Studio .NET to create a Windows-based application. The application includes a form named CForm. CForm contains 15 controls that enable users to set basic configuration options for the application. I design these controls to dynamically adjust when users resize CForm. The controls automatically update their size and position on the form as the form is resized. The initial size of the form should be 650 x 700 pixels. If CForm is resized to be smaller then 500 x 600 pixels, the controls will not be displayed correctly. How I must ensure that users cannot resize CForm to be smaller than 500 x 600 pixels..?

    Im working on a project in MVC and have enjoyed learning about it. There are a few growing pains but once you figure them out it's not bad. One thing that is really simple in the WebForms world is maintaining the scroll position on a page. All you do is set the MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback property to true. However, in MVC, Im not using postbacks so this will not work for me. What is the standard way of handling this? Edit: Ajax is acceptable, but I was also wondering how you would do it without AJAX.
