• Web services, Java EE, Spring, DB integration project ideas - maybe data mining related?

  I am a graduate Computer Science student (Data Mining and Machine Learning) and have good exposure to core Java (3 years). I have read up on a bunch of stuff on the following topics: Design patterns, Java EE Web services (SOAP and REST), Spring, and Hibernate Java Concurrency - advanced features like Task and Executors. I would now like to do a project combining this stuff -- over my free time of course -- to get a better understanding of these things and to kind of make an end to end software (to learn the best design principles etc + SVN, maven). Any good project ideas would be really appreciated. I just want to build this stuff to learn, so I don't really mind re-inventing the wheel. Also, anything related to data mining would be an added bonus as it fits with my research but is absolutely not necessary since this project is more to learn to do large scale software development.

• Is programming too easy if compared to other fields?

  I have been programming since some years and I won't say its a piece of cake but in this field, you know how to do things. You can always google up resources, tutorials. There are tons of already written code to help you with - frameworks, libraries but if you compare it to other innovation fields like "Electronics". Its not too easy to get started with, the community might not be too large on the internet, getting the things right plus lets not forget there is nothing to tell you where the error might be. I have wanted many times but not be able to get into, like, building some kind of robot because I don't know how to start. So my question is that, does programming tends to be easy compared rest of the fields or is it just my intrest that makes it easy?

• Are proofs worth the effort?

  I bought the de-facto book for learning about data structures and algorithms (CLRS). The book is though quite good but the singularity is in the proofs. The book is filled with Lemmas, theorems, peculiar symbols and unimaginable recurrence relations which are very hard to understand. I am able to somehow get the algorithms but the discrete mathematics just not for me. So should I leave them out and just concentrate on algorithims?

  I joined an organisation in April 2010. I just changed my job in January 2012. I was previously working with Java. But in my current organisation, the work is not in java. They told me in the interview that the work will be use Java technology. But this is not the case. I dont want to lose my previous Java experience. And moreover, in my current company , I am working on a language which is not used anywhere. I want to change again. Can anyone please help and guide me that will there be any issue now in changing the job again.?

• Help on PHP CURL script [closed]

  This script uses a cookie.txt in the same folder chmoded to 777... The problem i am facing is i hav many accounts to login... Say if i hav 5 accounts...i created cookie1.txt,cookie2.txt an so on.. then the script worked..with the post data But i want this to be always logged in and post data.. Can anyone tell me how to do this?????   Hello Everybody, We develop applications for SAP using their SDK. SAP provides a SDK for changing and handling events occuring in the user interface. For example, with this SDK we can catch a click on a button and do something on the click. This programming can be done either VB or C#. This can also be used to create new fields on the pre-existing form. We have developed a specific application which allows users to store the definition required for new field in a database table and the fields are created at the run time. So far, this is good. What we require now is that the user should be able to store the validation code for the field in the database and the same should be executed on the run time. • How to recover bitlocker encrypted partition that is now 'unallocated'/'free space'?

  My hard drive had 5 partitions(including 1(some 4-5GB) bit locker encrypted one). When I used disk mgmt I could view 2 partitions(24.4GB and 8.94GB) in green colour labeled Empty space. So, I wanted to merge them and I used minitool partition wizard for the purpose. I don't know, what that software did, but all I was left with 2 partitions and lots of green free space. I recovered 2 partitions using EaseUS partition master, but the bitlocker encrypted partition cannot be searched by it(and also minitool partition recovery). Now, the disk mgmt shows 2 free space partitions of 28.36GB and 8.94GB respectively. P.S. - It contains very important data.

  I am trying to install Java SDK for windows 7 (Ultimate version, 64bit), I downloaded the following file from oracle website: jdk-7u9-windowsx64.exe. When I try to execute it, I get an error that it is not a valid win 32 application. I think the JDK version is correct. Can somebody help me out? • Error accessing other groups files in apache

  I am using Cloud9 IDE on my server, which creates files with default permission 640. As a result when I try to open those file via HTTP, apache shows permission denied error. When IDE is running as root user, files created belong to root:root. Also, when I see as what user is apache running, all its processes are shown to be running as root user. I cannot understand why still it cannot access files. I know if I add apache's user to group of file owner, it will work. But, I don't know which user to add. PS: I don't want to change permission of each file I create. I want less troubling solution.

If you plan to use name-based virtual hosts, remember that they only work with your non-secure Web server. But not able to figure out how to run two ssl application on same server. Can any one help me?

• rpmbuild gives seg fault

  I am trying to build an rpm using the rpmbuild tool. I have source code which build binaries around 30 GB. This software for which I am making the rpm has dozens of executables. When I copy only the binaries of a single executable (Eg. init) my rpm builds successfully. But when I dump the entire build to the rpm, rpmbuild does everything but gives a seg fault in the end. • Performing task on remote window server 2003 machine

For this i am using remote desktop access which is very slow. Is there any alternate (Tool or Framework) for windows server where i can execute my script on my machine and the required task will be performed on the remote machine in somewhat interactive manner (like putty in linux)
