• How can I format strings for use as structure field names in MATLAB?

  I want to remove hyphens (-), slashes (/) and white space () from a string name(i) so that I can use it as a structure field name. This is the ugly way I am currently doing it using the function strrep: cell2mat(strrep(strrep(strrep(name(i), '-',''),'/',''),' ', '')) I have also tried other variations, such as: strrep(name(i),{'-','/'},{'',''}); strrep(name(i),['-','/'],['','']); What is a more efficient way of doing this?

  Hi, I'm trying to get a report done and I have a small problem with the twocolums and the line numbering in listings. The text is on two columns, the listings can be on the two columns as well. If I put the number=left, the space between the columns is not sufficient and the text from the first column is written over. Is there any way to ask the listings to put the line numbers "outside" ?   The shared library is causing much trouble for me, and disk space is far less expensive than the trouble itself. How can I convert all shared libs(.dll) to static libs(.lib) and make my programe use them instead of using shared libs?   Basically, I have an application that uses a flip-book style animation technique. I am simply cycling through around 1000 320x480 pngs at 12fps, and everything works really well. Except for the fact that 1000 images takes up a ton of disk space. Ideally I'd like to be able to compress these images as a movie file and pull out each frame as I need them, or simply play back a movie with frame by frame precision. Ideas?
