  • Java api to get windows Special folders

    I once found a nifty little library that used JNI to allow java applications on Windows to get the locations of various "special" directories on windows. I can't for the life of me find it again... In particular, I need to get the location of the "All Users" (shared) "Application Data" directory. So, anyone have a bullet proof way in Java to locate the "All Users" "Application Data" folder? It needs to be bullet proof.

  • Merging multiple Google calendar feeds into one JSON object in javascript

    I am trying to bring in the JSON feeds from multiple Google calendars so that I can sort the upcoming events and display the next X number in an "Upcoming Events" list. I have this working with Yahoo! pipes but I want to get away from using a 3rd party to aggregate. I think I am close, but I cannot get the JSON objects created correctly. I am getting the data into the array but not in JSON format, so I can't manipulate it. I have tried var myJsonString = JSON.stringify(JSONData); using https://github.com/douglascrockford/JSON-js but that just threw errors. I suspect because my variable is in the wrong starting format. I have tried just calling the feed like: $.getJSON(url); and creating a function concant1() to do the JSONData=JSONData.concat(data);, but it doesn't fire and I think it would produce the same end result anyway. I have also tried several other methods of getting the end result I want with varying degrees of doom.   • Commercial Java LIB / API to read and write Word 2007 docs

    I need a simple to use / good docs / good support java lib to read and write word documents, namely word 2007 support (and word 2010 support planned). As the project I'm in has budget and time-constraints I don't mind buying a commercial lib :) I know they are XML files in a somewhat open format but I really don't want to waste time understanding the XML specification. Any good recommendations from happy customers? (Right now my choice is going to Aspose.Words for Java)

    hi, I'm attempting to add two charts to a gwt page using the visualization api, but for some strange and inexplicable reason, eclipse claims that the following two imports are colliding - which makes no sense to me. In the methods where i am calling them, I have even tried using the fully qualified names, but that doesnt seem to help either.   • Generic Open Source REST Client?

    I want a simple client that takes a few parameters (Method, URL, Parameters), makes an HTTP request, and shows me the results that were returned. A browser obviously can easily send GET and POST requests, but I have no good ideas on DELETE and UPDATE. Did I miss something in browser 101, or is there a common freeware tool to do this? I've seen other threads that give me Java APIs for a simple client, but that's not what I'm looking for.

  • can't connect Java client to C server.

When I run them both on the same computer everything works, but when I try to run the server on computer A and the client on computer B, I get the error IOException connection refused from the java client. I can't seem to find out whats happening, any thoughts?   • How to sanely configure security policy in Tomcat 6

    I'm using Tomcat 6.0.24, as packaged for Ubuntu Karmic. The default security policy of Ubuntu's Tomcat package is pretty stringent, but appears straightforward. In /var/lib/tomcat6/conf/policy.d, there are a variety of files that establish default policy. Worth noting at the start: I've not changed the stock tomcat install at all -- no new jars into its common lib directory(ies), no server.xml changes, etc. Putting the .war file in the webapps directory is the only deployment action. the web application I'm deploying fails with thousands of access denials under this default policy (as reported to the log thanks to the -Djava.security.debug="access,stack,failure" system property). turning off the security manager entirely results in no errors whatsoever, and proper app functionality What I'd like to do is add an application-specific security policy file to the policy.d directory, which seems to be the recommended practice. What's interesting is that: it doesn't exist in this context the fact that the file doesn't exist ends up throwing a security exception, rather than java.io.File.exists() simply returning false (although I suppose that's just a matter of the semantics of the read permission). Another workaround (besides just disabling the security manager in tomcat) is to add an open-ended permission to my policy file: grant { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; I presume this is functionally equivalent to turning off the security manager. I suppose I must be getting the codeBase declaration in my grants subtly wrong, but I'm not seeing it at the moment.

  • Coding solution to WAR installation error (Websphere Portal 6.0) ?

    I have a Websphere Portal application containing several portlets for which I'm currently working on some changes. A week ago, the WAR file produced by Rational Application Developer could be installed on the Portal server with no problems. Yesterday I made some seemingly minor changes to two JSP files and their associated "pagecode" Java files, and attempting to update the WAR on the server (using the Portal Administration web interface) now produces an error message. The WAR upload works, and the system shows me the correct list of portlets in the WAR file, but clicking "Finish" gives me a page with the error message "EJPAQ1319E: Cannot install the selected WAR file. View Details". Explanation: A portlet application containing legacy portlets can only be updated with another portlet application that contains legacy portlets. The same is true for standard portlet applications. User Response: Modify the portlet.xml of the application such that it matches the original API type, standard or legacy and try again. However, the "portlet.xml" file has not changed in about a month, and I've done several WAR updates for this application in that time with no problems. The problem seems to be caused by the code changes I did yesterday, but I have no clue why a few lines of code would do this. Any ideas?

  • Is there a fast concat method for linked list in Java?

    How can I concat two linked lists in O(1) with Java via jdk, google or apache commons collection or whatever? E.g. in jdk there is only the addAll method which is O(n). Another feature I miss is to concat two lists where each of them could be in inverse order. To illustrate this assume two lists a-b-c and e-f-g could merged into a-b-c-e-f-g a-b-c-g-f-e c-b-a-e-f-g c-b-a-g-f-e Do you know of such a list implemenation or do I have to implement my own linked list? It would be also helpful to know how to tweak existing solutions (e.g. the jdk LinkedList has a lot of private methods only). These features seems to me very obvious, hopefully I am not missing something stupid.

    Hi I am using edtftpj-pro3.1 trial copy in my android app to make SFTP connection with the server. After few connections with the server with 5-6 file transfers, my app is crashing with following exception. Is it causing the problem or what could be the problem?? However, I can send something to the client via JSON, but I cannot read it at the clientside. In fact I am getting the error that the "time" is an undefined index in Session.     I am writing a RTSP client in Android. I am able to receive the Responses for all the requests i.e., DESCRIBE it sends back the 200 OK SETUP with transport: RTP/AVP:unicast:client_port=4568:4569 got the 200 OK Message back Sent PLAY, and got the OK Message After that how to get the audio and video frames? I have searched on blogs, but all say to listen at client_port but I am not receiving any packets. Please let me know am I doing correctly.
