  Hello In my current company, i am doing a PoC on how we can write a file downloader utility. We have to use socket programming(TCP/IP) for downloading the files. One of the requirements of the client is that a file(which will be large in size) should be transfered in chunks for example if we have a file of 5Mb size then we can have 5 threads which transfer 1 Mb each. I have written a small application which downloads a file. Small Explanation what this file does This class finds the size of the file to be fetched from Sender Depending upon the size of the file it finds the start and end position till the bytes needs to be read. It starts n number of threads giving each thread start,end, sequence number and a list which all the threads share. Each thread reads the number of bytes and creates a ByteArrayWrapper. ByteArrayWrapper objects are added to the list Then i have while loop which basically make sure that all threads have done their work finally it sorts the list based on the sequence number. then the bytes are joined, and a complete byte array is formed which is converted to a file. In this code i am not able to see the benefit. 2) How should i decide how many threads should i create ? 3) Are their any opensource libraries which does that 4) The file which file receiver receives is valid and not corrupted but checksum (i used FileUtils of common-io) does not match. Whats the problem? 5) This code gives out of memory when used with large file(above 100 Mb) i.e. because byte array which is created. How can i avoid? I know this is a very bad code but i have to write this in one day -:). Please suggest any other good way to do this? Thanks Shekhar

  Hi, I have some issues with my email -body when i send mails I'm using php in my site. My website is a spanish site , when ever i send a mail some special characters are comming in that mail. • Google Datastore w/ JDO: Access Times?

  I'm hitting what appears (to me) strange behavior when I pull data from the google datastore over JDO. In particular, the query executes quickly (say 100 ms), but finding the size of the resulting List< takes about one second! Indeed, whatever operation I try to perform on the resulting list takes about a second. Has anybody seen this behavior? Is it expected? Unusual? Any way around it? • Associate mount points with local disks in VBscript / WMI

  I have a VBscript that outputs various config items about a system. Both hardware and software. I can output disks and their associated partitions. I can output mount points. I do not seem to be able to associate a mount point with a local disk (where it actually is a local disk). I need to be able to do this using VBscript, so as to fit in with the rest of the ~2000 lines of code. I do NOT want to run some other program graphically. I know the disk manager service can show me (My Computer - Manage - Disk Management), but this is not what I need. I need to be able to do this remotely via VBscript. I am open to running an .exe from the VBscript and piping the output back into VBscript and massaging it from there. Any idea's ? Thanks in advance.

  well, since greasemonkey cant read/write files from local hard disk. I've heard people suggesting Google gears but i've no idea obout gears :( So, what i've decided is to add a script type="text/javascript" src="file:///c:/test.js"/script Now, this test will use FileSystemObject to read/write file. Since, the "file:///c:/test.js" is a javascript file from local hard disk, so it should probable be able to read/write file on my local hard disk. I tried it but firefox prevented the "file:///c:/test.js" script to read/write files from local diak :( What i want to know is: Is there any setting in firefox about:config where we can specify to let a particular script, say from localfile or xyz.com, to have read/write permission on my local disk files??

• PrintableArea in C# - Bug?

  I am having an issue with PageSettings.PrintableArea's width and height values. Width, Height, and Size properties claim to "get or set" the values. Also, the inflate() function claims to change the size based on values passed in. However, all of these attempts to change the value have not worked. Inflate() is ignore (no error, just passes as if it worked, but the values remain unchanged. Attempting to set the height, width, or size gives a compiler error: "Cannot modify the return value of 'System.Drawing.Printing.PageSettings.PrintableArea' because it is not a variable". I get the feeling that this means the "or set" part of the description is a lie. Why I want to know this: (Someone always asks...) I have a printing application (C#, WinForm) that for most things is working rather well. I can set the printer settings and page settings objects to control what displays in the print dialog's printer properties. However, with Microsoft Office Document Image Writer, these settings are sometimes ignored, and the paper size returns as 0, 0 even when it displayed something else. All I really want it for it to be WYSIWYG as far as the displayed values go, so I change the paper size back to what it should be, but the printable area, if it is wrong, makes the resulting image wonky. The resulting image is the size of the printable area instead of the value in papersize. Just wondering if there was a reason for this or a way to get it not to do that. Thanks in advance. :)

  I have a php form that has a known number of columns (ex. top diameter, bottom diameter, fabric, colour, quantity), but has an unknown number of rows, as users can add rows as they need. I've discovered how to take each of the fields(columns) and place them into an array of their own. <input name="topdiameter['+current+']" type="text" id="topdiameter'+current+'" size="5" /> <input name="bottomdiameter['+current+']" type="text" id="bottomdiameter'+current+'" size="5" /> So what I end up with in the HTML is: <tr> <td><input name="topdiameter[0]" type="text" id="topdiameter0" size="5" /></td> <td><input name="bottomdiameter[0]" type="text" id="bottomdiameter0" size="5" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input name="topdiameter[1]" type="text" id="topdiameter0" size="5" /></td> <td><input name="bottomdiameter[1]" type="text" id="bottomdiameter0" size="5" /></td> </tr> ...and so on. What I would like to do now is take all the rows and columns put them into a multidimensional array and email the contents of that to the client (preferably in a nicely formatted table). I haven't been able to really comprehend how to combine all those inputs and selects into a nice array. At this point, I'm going to have to try to use several 1D arrays, although I have the idea that using a single 2D array would be a better practice than using several 1D arrays.

  This question is derived of the topic: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2280655/vector-reserve-c I am using a datastructur of the type vector<vector<vector<double> > >. It is not possible to know the size of each of these vector (except the outer one) before items (doubles) are added. I can get an approximate size (upper bound) on the number of items in each "dimension". A solution with the shared pointers might be the way to go, but I would like to try a solution where the vector<vector<vector<double> > > simply has .reserve()'ed enough space (or in some other way has allocated enough memory). Will A.reserve(500) (assumming 500 is the size or, alternatively an upper bound on the size) be enough to hold "2D" vectors of large size, say [1000][10000]? The reason for my question is mainly because I cannot see any way of reasonably estimating the size of the interior of A at the time of .reserve(500). An example of my question: vector A; A.reserve(500+1); vector temp2; vector temp1 (666,666); for(int i=0;i<500;i++) { A.push_back(temp2); for(int j=0; j< 10000;j++) { A.back().push_back(temp1); } } Will this ensure that no reallocation is done for A? If temp2.reserve(100000) and temp1.reserve(1000) where added at creation will this ensure no reallocation at all will occur at all?   HI We have a large number of remote computers that capture video onto disk drives. Each camera has it's own unique directory and there can be up to 16 directories on any one disk. I'm trying to locate the oldest video file on the disk but using FindFirst/FindNext to compare the File Creation DateTime takes forever. Does anybody know of a more efficient way of finding the oldest file in a directory? We remotely connect to the pc's from a central HO location. Regards, Pieter

  I'm using the Google webfonts API to embed Droid Sans on a page. All is fine, except for the descenders (i.e. the dangly bits on y, g, etc). • How to force an HTML JLabel in a JTree to resize when the font changes

  I'm updating a Java Swing application to support the user switching the app's font from normal size to a larger size (so the user can switch between the two sizes at runtime). One problem I'm having is with a JTree that uses HTML for the tree nodes to underline the text in some nodes (the HTML is just embedded in the JLabel of each tree node). One extra thing to know about the nodes is that they're a custom component, adding a JCheckBox in front of each JLabel. The problem is that once the JTree is visible, increasing the font size causes the nodes (containing underlined text) to not resize. The HTML for those nodes seems to prevent the node from becoming wider, so when the font changes, the text becomes truncated. I think my options are to either: 1) use another approach to make the text underlined, since removing the HTML from the JLabel causes it to resize properly when the font size changes, or 2) keep the HTML formatting and somehow force the JTree/JLabels to resize when the font size is updated (possibly by firing a property change event?). The code already calls SwingUtilities.updateComponentTreeUI() on the parent JFrame when the font size gets updated. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! -Mike

• How can I get the dimensions of a drawn string without padding?

  I'm trying to create an image with some text on it and I want the image's size to match the size of the rendered text. When I use System.Windows.Forms.TextRenderer.MeasureText(...) to measure the text, I get dimensions that include font padding. When the text is rendered, it seems to use the same padding. Is there any way to determine the size of a string of text and then render it without any padding?   Hi, Requesting a simple HTML page with a jpg image makes XSP2 crash. If I remove the image from the HTML then the page is served OK all the time. The version is XSP2 2.0 mono 2.6.1. the version 2.4.2.2 in the same machine works fine. I have tested it in two different machines, both Windows Vista Business SP1. Anyone has experienced the same? Any clue of what can be the problem? But what if I want to extend this so that I also get subscriber 3 since this subscriber didn't specifically say what color or size they want (ie. there is no entry for attribute 'color' or 'size' in the EAV table for subscriber 3). Given my current design, is there a way I can extend my query to include subscribers that have zero or more of the attributes defined, and if they do have the attribute defined, then it must match the criteria? Or is there a better way to design the table to aid in querying?
