    I'm going to optimize a MySQL embedded query with a view, but I'm not sure whether it will give an effect: SELECT id FROM (SELECT * FROM t); I want to convert it to: CREATE VIEW v AS SELECT * FROM t; SELECT id FROM v; I've heard about "indexed views" in SQL Server, but I'm not sure about MySQL. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't care about putting too many constraints on him, though I wouldn't mind isolating the site that he'll be developing from other sites on the server that I will develop. The problem: retain control Mainly what I want is to make sure that I retain control over the server in the future. I want to reserve the ability to create/promote/demote and other administrative functions that don't deal with web software. If I make him an admin, he can sudo su - and become root and remove root control from me, for example. I need him not to be able to: take away other admin permissions change the root password have control over other security/administrative functions I would like him to still be able to: install software (through apt-get) restart apache access mysql configure mysql/apache reboot edit web development configuration type files in /etc/ Other Standard Setups would be happily considered I've never really set up a good sudoers file, so simple example setups would be very useful, even if they're only somewhat similar to the settings that I'm hoping for above. Edit: I have not yet finalized permissions, standard, useful sudo setups are certainly an option, the lists above are more what I'm hoping I can do, I don't know that that setup can be done.

  • Winforms TabControl causing spurious Paint events for UserControl

    For our project, we've written a WinForms UserControl for graphing. We're seeing some strange behavior when our control is sited in a TabControl - our control continuously fires Paint events, even when there is absolutely no activity by the user. We only see this in the TabControl. When we site our control in other containers such as Forms or Splitters, Paint is only fired when you'd expect e.g. when the control is first displayed, etc. Can anyone suggest why this might be happening?     My application works just fine until, in some unidentified conditions, it begins throwing this errors: When these errors start appearing, they appear in all over the application, no matter the code is built using ObjectDataSource or SqlDataSource. However, apparently, if the code uses some "classic", code-behind data-binding, that code does not throw errors (they do not show in the application event log), the page is displayed but it does not contain any data....     I've seen this a couple of times now.  Upon initial installation of a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, the control panel is a button.  But if you go to the task bar property >> Start Menu tab >> Customize, you will see the option is "Display as a menu".  Click "Display as a link" and press OK, then come back to the same area and select "Display as a menu" will solve the problem.

    Hello, i quite don't understand Authority RRs. Using dig to resolve some random A records, my caching DNS server sometimes also return Authority RRs and sometimes not. The number and the type of the returned Authority RRs also vary a lot. What does control whether Authority RRs are returned or not on a standard client query ? Is it a client or server setting ? What does control how many Authoriy RRs are returned ? What does control of the type of the Authority RRs records returned ? Sometimes it's multiple NS, sometimes it's a SOA. It's also often comes with Additional RRs of type A about the Authority RRs NS returned. I'm really looking for a RFC or kind of describing this. Thanks.

    I've been a Synergy user for some time now, as I use a PC on the left side of my Mac. My girlfriend and I both have our desks on each side of the other, and we'd like to know if it were possible for the both of us to control the PC in the middle, with our own separate mouse & keyboards. Here's a crude drawing of our setup (1) her pc (2) my pc (3) my mac Currently, 3 is running a synergy server, and 2 is running the client. But like I said, I'm wondering if there's a way for 1 & 3 to both control 2 with their own mouse and keyboard. I'd ~love~ to have it set up where we could go even farther, and have both of our mice & keyboards able to control all 3 computers at the same time, for moments when we need to click or press keys for each other. But that seems a little too much to ask! Any thoughts?

    I am using the following options in my ~/.ssh/config in order to enable connection multiplexing: ControlMaster auto ControlPath ~/.ssh/control/master-%r@%h:%p However, this has the annoying problem that the first shell to connect to a particular server must be the last to disconnect, because it is the master connection that all the other connections are using. So if you log out of the master, it appears to just hang. To solve this, I would like to wrap ssh with a script that checks if the control master file exists, and if not, starts a master ssh process in the background. Then it would start a slave ssh session. In order to accomplish this, my script would have to determine the path to the control file that ssh would use. This would entail parsing the ssh command line options and config files and implementing the logic for determining the ControlPath. Is there any way to just ask ssh what path it would use, so I can check it?
