  • Using object instead of AppDelegate for Outlets & Actions?

    - by Driss Zouak
    In all the MonoTouch examples I have seen everyone is using outlets and actions on AppDelegate, yet when I've been through some objective-C webcasts I see people using an Object they drag onto XIB in Interface Builder and using that (Seems a lot cleaner). Is there just not a way to reference any Objects like that that we create? Is there a particular way to access it? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

  • maven plugin configuration

    - by Don
    Hi, When writing a Maven plugin, you can configure various parameters within the mojo class, e.g. /** * The path to the properties files. * * @parameter expression="${project.build.directory}" */ private File buildDir; Is there a reference that lists all the available project properties (e.g. ${project.build.directory})? For example, how do I get the value of the resources directory? Thanks, Don

  • JSON parsing using JSON.net

    - by vbNewbie
    I am accessing the facebook api and using the json.net library (newtonsoft.json.net) I declare a Jobject to parse the content and look for the specific elements and get their values. Everything works fine for the first few but then I get this unexplained nullexception error " (Object reference not set to an instance of an object) Now I took a look at the declaration but cannot see how to change it. Any help appreciated: Dim jobj as JObject = JObject.Parse(responseData) Dim message as string = string.empty message = jobj("message").tostring The error occurs at the last line above.

  • Create Excel files from C# without office

    - by tbischel
    I am writing a program that generates excel reports, currently using the Microsoft.Interop.Excel reference. My dev computer has Excel on it, but the end user may or may not have Office installed. Will this tool fail if Office isn't installed on the end users computer, or is this interop service separate from the actual application?

  • binding a usercontrol to the opposite of a bool property

    - by SnOrfus
    Pretty straightforward: I'm looking to do the same as this but in winforms. Everything that google seems to pull up is wpf specific (ie. I don't want to reference presentationframework.dll) Explained if you don't want to read the link: The following is a representation of the intent of what I'd like to do, though it obviously doesn't work. CheckBox1.DataBindings.Add(new Binding("Checked", this.object, "!SomeBool"));

  • Faster way to split a string and count characters using R?

    - by chrisamiller
    I'm looking for a faster way to calculate GC content for DNA strings read in from a FASTA file. This boils down to taking a string and counting the number of times that the letter 'G' or 'C' appears. I also want to specify the range of characters to consider. I have a working function that is fairly slow, and it's causing a bottleneck in my code. It looks like this: ## ## count the number of GCs in the characters between start and stop ## gcCount <- function(line, st, sp){ chars = strsplit(as.character(line),"")[[1]] numGC = 0 for(j in st:sp){ ##nested ifs faster than an OR (|) construction if(chars[[j]] == "g"){ numGC <- numGC + 1 }else if(chars[[j]] == "G"){ numGC <- numGC + 1 }else if(chars[[j]] == "c"){ numGC <- numGC + 1 }else if(chars[[j]] == "C"){ numGC <- numGC + 1 } } return(numGC) } Running Rprof gives me the following output: > a = "GCCCAAAATTTTCCGGatttaagcagacataaattcgagg" > Rprof(filename="Rprof.out") > for(i in 1:500000){gcCount(a,1,40)}; > Rprof(NULL) > summaryRprof(filename="Rprof.out") self.time self.pct total.time total.pct "gcCount" 77.36 76.8 100.74 100.0 "==" 18.30 18.2 18.30 18.2 "strsplit" 3.58 3.6 3.64 3.6 "+" 1.14 1.1 1.14 1.1 ":" 0.30 0.3 0.30 0.3 "as.logical" 0.04 0.0 0.04 0.0 "as.character" 0.02 0.0 0.02 0.0 $by.total total.time total.pct self.time self.pct "gcCount" 100.74 100.0 77.36 76.8 "==" 18.30 18.2 18.30 18.2 "strsplit" 3.64 3.6 3.58 3.6 "+" 1.14 1.1 1.14 1.1 ":" 0.30 0.3 0.30 0.3 "as.logical" 0.04 0.0 0.04 0.0 "as.character" 0.02 0.0 0.02 0.0 $sampling.time [1] 100.74 Any advice for making this code faster?

  • Why should I use "Web 2.0"-style URLs?

    - by hydrapheetz
    In short, why use something like http://stackoverflow.com/badges/6/supporter instead of something "simpler" (and subjectively, at that) like http://stackoverflow.com/badges/6/. Even on my own site I've just been using /post/6/ to reference posts (by IDs, even though I still store a slug.) Instead of /post/6/small-rant-on-urls, and in some cases, they can get even more absurd, much more so than is really necessary.

  • How can I get started with PHPUnit, where my class construct requires a preconfigured db connection?

    - by Ben Dauphinee
    I have a class that uses a lot of database internally, so I built the constructor with a $db handle that I am supposed to pass to it. I am just getting started with PHPUnit, and I am not sure how I should go ahead and pass the database handle through setup. public function setUp(/*do I pass a database handle through here, using a reference? aka &$db*/){ $this->_acl = new acl; } public function __construct(Zend_Db_Adapter_Abstract $db, $config = array()){

  • Function in JS returns undefined

    - by megapool020
    Hello there, I have the following problem. The alert allways returns undefined, but I know it has a value. What am I doing wrong. I'm out of solutions... I'm using JQUERY jquery-1.4.2.min.js Tnx in advance $(document).ready(function(){ $('#generateButton').click(createIBAN); }); function createIBAN(){ //---- First check if a bank has been selected, //---- if not, then show error if($('#selectBank').val()==''){ alert('Selecte a bank!'); }else{ var bankAccount = generateBankAccount(); alert(bankAccount); } return false; } function generateBankAccount(){ //---- Create "elfproef" bankaccount var bankAccount = ''; //---- Set the amount of digits in a bankaccount digitAmount = 9; //---- Make random digitstring for (var i = 0; i < digitAmount; i++) { bankAccount += Math.floor(Math.random() * digitAmount); } //---- validate the string, if not "elf-proef" if (elfProef(bankAccount)==false) { //---- regenerate the string generateBankAccount(); }else{ return bankAccount; } } function elfProef(bankAccount) { //---- set sum to 0 and start the for-loop for counting var sum = 0; for (var i = 0; i < digitAmount; i++) { //---- for every digit multiply it times 9 - number //---- of the digit and count it to the sum var sum += bankAccount.charAt(i) * (digitAmount - i); } //---- Check if sum can be devided by 11 without having ##,## if(sum % 11==0){ //---- return true means string is "elf-proef" return true; }else { //---- String is not "elf-proef", try again return false; } }

  • Indices instead of pointers in STL containers?

    - by zvrba
    Due to specific requirements [*], I need a singly-linked list implementation that uses integer indices instead of pointers to link nodes. The indices are always interpreted with respect to a vector containing the list nodes. I thought I might achieve this by defining my own allocator, but looking into the gcc's implementation of , they explicitly use pointers for the link fields in the list nodes (i.e., they do not use the pointer type provided by the allocator): struct _List_node_base { _List_node_base* _M_next; ///< Self-explanatory _List_node_base* _M_prev; ///< Self-explanatory ... } (For this purpose, the allocator interface is also deficient in that it does not define a dereference function; "dereferencing" an integer index always needs a pointer to the underlying storage.) Do you know a library of STL-like data structures (i am mostly in need of singly- and doubly-linked list) that use indices (wrt. a base vector) instead of pointers to link nodes? [*] Saving space: the lists will contain many 32-bit integers. With two pointers per node (STL list is doubly-linked), the overhead is 200%, or 400% on 64-bit platform, not counting the overhead of the default allocator.

  • Is it possible to call BlazeDS from Java?

    - by Stephane Grenier
    Basically I'm trying to proxy some webservices locally (for reasons I won't go into now) and then have a Java application call it. I'm looking at BlazeDS since it seems to do just this, mostly to avoid the crossDomain.xml file required by Flex to call webservices. However I can't seem to find any reference on how to connect through a Java client (probably using Axis2). Any suggestions, and especially tutorials, would be greatly appreciated.

  • mono in production websites?

    - by sirmak
    Hi, I'm investigating the use of mono in real world high traffic web applications. There are some references on the mono site (companies using mono), but I couldn't find a high traffic website sample other than Deki powered ones. And I've read some mailings about mod_mono stability problems because of inexistence of compacting GC. Please reference your app and give some info, if is there anyone using mono in production. ...or do I have to look at Java ? Regards, sirmak
