  • SQL SERVER – What is SSAS Tabular Data model and Why to use it – Part 2

    - by Pinal Dave
In my last article, I talked about the basics of tabular data model and why use it. Then I demonstrated step by step creation of a basic tabular model project. In this part I’m going to throw some light on how to create measures and analyses in excel. If you look at the tabular project closely, you will notice that we have not defined any measure yet. So, in the first step we will define the measure first.  Open the solution and select the column you want to define as a measure. Then, click on the summation icon on the toolbar. You will see the aggregated results at the bottom of that column. You have also other choices as well like average, min, max, count and distinct count. After creating the required measures, we need to analyze our data in excel. To do this, click on the excel icon in the upper left corner of the toolbar. This will open your analysis in excel. Notice the pivot table field list here. I have highlighted the measures that we created in the earlier step. Now, we can use these measures in our analysis Now, we have to put the required fields in their respective places as column labels, row labels, Values and Report filter for analysis. See below snapshot for details, it shows region wise sales on a yearly basis You can even apply filters on the above analysis by placing the slicer field in report filter. In our example, we will take an English product name as a filter. You can use the filter as depicted in the below snapshot. Optionally, you can also use the slider to filter data more interactively. Further to improve our analysis, we can insert pivot charts That’s all for this time, in my next post I’m going to show in detail about how to create hierarchies, perspectives, KPI’s  and many more features. • XML serialization of a collection in C#

    - by Archana R
I have two classes as follows: public class Info { [XmlAttribute] public string language; public int version; public Book book; public Info() { } public Info(string l, int v, string author, int quantity, int price) { this.language = l; this.version = v; book = new Book(author, quantity, price); } } public class Book { [XmlAttribute] public string author; public int quantity; public int price; [XmlIgnore]public int total; public NameValueCollection nvcollection = new NameValueCollection(); public Book() { } public Book(string author, int quantity, int price) { this.author = author; this.quantity = quantity; this.price = price; total = quantity * price; nvcollection.Add(author, price.ToString()); } } I have created an ArrayList which adds the two instances of Info class as follows: FileStream fs = new FileStream("SerializedInfo.XML", FileMode.Create); List<Info> arrList = new List<Info>(); XmlSerializer xs = new XmlSerializer(typeof(List<Info>)); Info pObj = new Info("ABC", 3, "DEF", 2, 6); Info pObj1 = new Info("GHI", 4, "JKL", 2, 8); arrList.Add(pObj); arrList.Add(pObj1); xs.Serialize(fs, arrList); fs.Close(); But when I try to serialize, I get an exception as "There was an error reflecting type 'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[ConsoleApplicationSerialization.Info]'." Can anyone help me with it? Also, instead of namevaluecollection, which type of structure can i use?

  • Dealing with a null datetime element within xml using linq

    - by diver-d
    HI I have an example document that looks like <ItemEntry> <PurchaseDate>2010-03-18T20:36:32.81108+13:00</PurchaseDate> <StoreGUID>0a0324ad-5f99-486a-a2d0-870bc6991e9f</StoreGUID> <ExpiryDate /> <CardID>111111</CardID> <PurchaseAmount>0</PurchaseAmount> <RedeemedAmount /> <EntryType>1</EntryType> <RedeemedDate /> <SalesAssistantID>0</SalesAssistantID> </ItemEntry> As you can see there are couple of elements ExpiryDate and RedeemedDate are are empty. var q = from c in xml.Elements("ItemEntry") select new mdDetail { PurchaseDate = (DateTime)c.Element("PurchaseDate"), StoreGUID = (Guid)c.Element("StoreGUID"), ExpiryDate = (DateTime?)c.Element("ExpiryDate")??DateTime.MinValue, CardID = (int)c.Element("CardID"), PurchaseAmount = (double)c.Element("PurchaseAmount"), RedeemedAmount = (double?)c.Element("RedeemedAmount"), EntryType = (int)c.Element("EntryType"), RedeemedDate = (DateTime?)c.Element("RedeemedDate") ??DateTime.MinValue, SalesAssistantID = (int)c.Element("SalesAssistantID"), } ; foreach (var item in q) { } I am not sure how to deal with the null element value, I have tried ??DateTime.MinValue and ??null however both give me a " String was not recognized as a valid DateTime." error. Any suggestions? Thank you

  • Getting rid of the Expires node (xml) in the WS security header

From the snippet below, how do i get rid of the (xml node) <wsu:Expires> tag? I want to either get rid of it or pass it in as a empty element. • Setting the DataGridColumn's dataField based on XML node with the same name

    - by Rie Mino
I am stuck. Given this XML: <matrix> <row> <column>0.51</column> <column>0.52</column> <column>0.53</column> <column>0.54</column> </row> <row> <column>0.61</column> <column>0.62</column> <column>0.63</column> <column>0.64</column> </row> I am trying to define a DataGrid such that the row nodes will represent new rows in the DataGrid and the column nodes will be used to auto-populate the DataGrid's columns. I am having a problem setting the dataField for each of the DataGridColumn ojects created. The DataGrid is created but the cell values for row 1 are all 0.51 and row 2 are 0.61. What am I doing wrong here?

  • Is there an easy way to compare if 2 XDocuments are equal ignoring element/attribute order?

    - by Davy8
Unit testing my serialization code I found one failed because I had attributes listed in a different order (I'm just comparing the XDocument.ToString() values) and while I could fix that, it really doesn't matter to me in what order the elements or attributes appear as long as they're all there with the right name at the right level of hierarchy. I could probably write a method do this, but I'm wondering if there's an easy built in way I'm not aware of.

  • Parsing JSON to XML using net.sf.json (java)

    - by Castanho
    Hi guys, I'm parsing a generic JSON to a XML using net.sf.json. (I'm not using POJO Obj in the conversion) When dealing with vectors I'm receiving: <root> <entry> <Id>1</accountId> <Items> <e> <cost>0.1</cost> <debit>0.1</debit> </e> <e> <cost>0.1</cost> <debit>0.1</debit> </e> </Items> </entry> </root> When the correct for my point of view should be: <root> <entry> <accountId>1</accountId> <Items> <cost>0.1</cost> <debit>0.1</debit> </Items> <Items> <cost>0.2</cost> <debit>0.2</debit> </Items> </entry> </root> Do anyone have used this lib and could help me? Any tips could help! Thanks in advance

  • SQL SERVER – DELETE, TRUNCATE and RESEED Identity

    - by pinaldave
Yesterday I had a headache answering questions to one of the DBA on the subject of Reseting Identity Values for All Tables. After talking to the DBA I realized that he has no clue about how the identity column behaves when there is DELETE, TRUNCATE or RESEED Identity is used. Let us run a small T-SQL Script. Create a temp table with Identity column beginning with value 11. The seed value is 11. USE [TempDB] GO -- Create Table CREATE TABLE [dbo].[TestTable]( [ID] [int] IDENTITY(11,1) NOT NULL, [var] [nchar](10) NULL ) ON [PRIMARY] GO -- Build sample data INSERT INTO [TestTable] VALUES ('val') GO When seed value is 11 the next value which is inserted has the identity column value as 11. – Select Data SELECT * FROM [TestTable] GO Effect of DELETE statement -- Delete Data DELETE FROM [TestTable] GO When the DELETE statement is executed without WHERE clause it will delete all the rows. However, when a new record is inserted the identity value is increased from 11 to 12. It does not reset but keep on increasing. -- Build sample data INSERT INTO [TestTable] VALUES ('val') GO -- Select Data SELECT * FROM [TestTable] Effect of TRUNCATE statement -- Truncate table TRUNCATE TABLE [TestTable] GO When the TRUNCATE statement is executed it will remove all the rows. However, when a new record is inserted the identity value is increased from 11 (which is original value). TRUNCATE resets the identity value to the original seed value of the table. -- Build sample data INSERT INTO [TestTable] VALUES ('val') GO -- Select Data SELECT * FROM [TestTable] GO Effect of RESEED statement If you notice I am using the reseed value as 1. The original seed value when I created table is 11. However, I am reseeding it with value 1. -- Reseed DBCC CHECKIDENT ('TestTable', RESEED, 1) GO When we insert the one more value and check the value it will generate the new value as 2. This new value logic is Reseed Value + Interval Value – in this case it will be 1+1 = 2. -- Build sample data INSERT INTO [TestTable] VALUES ('val') GO -- Select Data SELECT * FROM [TestTable] GO Here is the clean up act. -- Clean up DROP TABLE [TestTable] GO Question for you: If I reseed value with some random number followed by the truncate command on the table what will be the seed value of the table. (Example, if original seed value is 11 and I reseed the value to 1. If I follow up with truncate table what will be the seed value now? Here is the complete script together. You can modify it and find the answer to the above question. Please leave a comment with your answer. • Lift XML Parsing Error

    - by bstevens90
I know there are other questions on this and I have read through almost all of them and none of them solved my problem. I have inside a home directory: def search(in: NodeSeq) : NodeSeq = { bind("work", in, "docId" -> text("", did = _), "visitId" -> text("", vid = _), "provider" -> text("", prov = _), "emCode" -> text(ecode, ecode = _)) } along with: <lift:home.searchForm form="POST" multipart="true" > <table> <tr> <td>DocId</td> <td>VisitId</td> <td>Provider</td> <td>EanMCode</td> </tr> <tr> <td><work:docId /></td> <td><work:visitId /></td> <td><work:provider /></td> <td><work:emCode /></td> <td><button>Click Me!</button></td> </tr> </table> </lift:home.searchForm> Inside an html page. I have included xmlns:lift="http://liftweb.net/" in default.... I can't find anyway to fix this... I am getting XML Parsing Error: prefix not bound to a namespace Location: http://localhost:8080/ Line Number 29, Column 10: <td><work:docId></work:docId></td> in firefox. I have written similar code and had it working in another app and just cant even find anything im doing different thats not trivial naming... Thanks in advance!

  • XML Pretty Printer Missing 2 Key Edge Cases

    - by viatropos
Using this xslt file found on this blog to pretty print xml using Nokogiri, everything almost works, but to the point where I can't use it for HTML. First, if a node is empty, it turns it into a self closing node, so: <textarea></textarea> gets converted to <textarea/> But that messes up the html tree when rendered. Second, if the node just has text, the text isn't tabbed, and the closing node isn't tabbed, so: <li> <label>some text</label> </li> becomes: <li> <label>some text </label> </li> ...but it would ideally be: <li> <label> some text </label> </li> Does anyone who's pro at XSLT know a quick fix for this?

  • XmlSerializer Performance Issue when Specifying XmlRootAttribute

    - by Dougc
I'm currently having a really weird issue and I can't seem to figure out how to resolve it. I've got a fairly complex type which I'm trying to serialize using the XmlSerializer class. This actually functions fine and the type serializes properly, but seems to take a very long time in doing so; around 5 seconds depending on the data in the object. After a bit of profiling I've narrowed the issue down - bizarrely - to specifying an XmlRootAttribute when calling XmlSerializer.Serialize. I do this to change the name of a collection being serialized from ArrayOf to something a bit more meaningful. Once I remove the parameter the operation is almost instant! Any thoughts or suggestions would be excellent as I'm entirely stumped on this one!

  • Applying SoapIgnore attribute doesn't take any effect to serialization result

    - by the_V
I'm trying to figure out .NET serialization stuff and experiencing a problem. I've made a simple program to test it and got stuck with using attributes. Here's the code: [Serializable] public class SampleClass { [SoapIgnore] public Guid InstanceId { get; set; } } class Program { static void Main() { SampleClass cl = new SampleClass { InstanceId = Guid.NewGuid() }; SoapFormatter fm = new SoapFormatter(); using (FileStream stream = new FileStream(string.Format("C:\\Temp\\{0}.inv", Guid.NewGuid().ToString().Replace("-", "")), FileMode.Create)) { fm.Serialize(stream, cl); } } } The problem is that InstanceId is not ignored while serialization is done. What I get in .inv file is something like this: <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:clr="http://schemas.microsoft.com/soap/encoding/clr/1.0" SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"> <SOAP-ENV:Body> <a1:SampleClass id="ref-1" xmlns:a1="http://schemas.microsoft.com/clr/nsassem/TestConsoleApp/TestConsoleApp%2C%20Version%3D1.0.0.0%2C%20Culture%3Dneutral%2C%20PublicKeyToken%3Dnull"> <_x003C_InstanceId_x003E_k__BackingField> <_a>769807168</_a> <_b>27055</_b> <_c>16408</_c> <_d>141</_d> <_e>210</_e> <_f>171</_f> <_g>30</_g> <_h>252</_h> <_i>196</_i> <_j>246</_j> <_k>159</_k> </_x003C_InstanceId_x003E_k__BackingField> </a1:SampleClass> </SOAP-ENV:Body> </SOAP-ENV:Envelope> As I can understand from documentation InstanceId property is not supposed to be serialized since SoapIgnore attribute is applied to it. Am I missing something?

  • Strangely structured xml code finding last value of a certain type using java

    - by Damien.Bell
Thus the structure is something like this: OasisReportMessagePayloadRTOReport_ItemReport_Data Under report data it's broken into categories: >>Zone >>Type >>Value >>Interval What I need to do is: Get the value if the type is equal to 'myType' and the interval value is the LARGEST. So an example of the xml might be (under report_data): OasisReport MessagePayload RTO REPORT_ITEM REPORT_DATA <zone>myZone1</zone> -- This should be the same in all reports since I only get them for 1 zone <type>myType</type> --This can change from line to line <value>12345</value>--This changes every interval <Interval>122</Interval> -- This is essentially how many 5 minute intervals have taken place since the beginning of a day, finding the "max" lets me know it's the newest data. Thereby I want to find stuff of "MyType" for the "max" interval and pull the Value (into a string, or a double, if not I can convert from string. Can someone help me with this task? Thanks! Note: I've used Xpath to handle things like this in the past, but it seems outlandish for this... as it's SO complex (since not all the reports live in the same report_item, and not all the types are the same in each report)

  • Deserializing JSON in WCF throws xml errors in .Net 4.0

    - by Syg
Hi there. I'm going slidely mad over here, maybe someone else can figure out what's going on here. I have a WCF service exposing a function using webinvoke, like so: [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Wrapped, RequestFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, UriTemplate = "registertokenpost" )] void RegisterDeviceTokenForYoumiePost(test token); The datacontract for the test class looks like this: [DataContract(Namespace="Zooma.Test", Name="test", IsReference=true)] public class test { string waarde; [DataMember(Name="waarde", Order=0)] public string Waarde { get { return waarde; } set { waarde = value; } } } When sending the following json message to the service, { "test": { "waarde": "bla" } } the trace log gives me errors (below). I have tried this with just a string instead of the datatype (void RegisterDeviceTokenForYoumiePost(string token); ) but i get the same error. All help is appreciated, can't figure it out. It looks like it's creating invalid xml from the json message, but i'm not doing any custom serialization here. The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: Error in deserializing body of request message for operation 'RegisterDeviceTokenForYoumiePost'. Unexpected end of file. **Following elements are not closed**: waarde, test, root.</Message><StackTrace> at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.OperationFormatter.DeserializeRequest(Message message, Object[] parameters)

  • Configuring web.xml for webservices and servlet.

    - by Win Man
Hi, I am new to Restlets. Trying to configure the web.xml (on JBoss). I have 2 entries, one for a servlet (got nothing to do with webservices) other for webservices, using Restlet. Here are the entries.. <servlet> <servlet-name>AuthenticationServlet</servlet-name> <servlet-class>com.safeid.web.server.api.servlet.AuthenticationServlet</servlet-class> <load-on-startup>2</load-on-startup> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>AuthenticationServlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/authenticate/*</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> <!-- Start of Entries for the REST Web Services. --> <context-param> <param-name>org.restlet.application</param-name> <param-value>com.safeid.web.server.SafeIDRouterApplication</param-value> </context-param> <servlet> <servlet-name>RestletServlet</servlet-name> <servlet-class>com.noelios.restlet.ext.servlet.ServerServlet</servlet-class> <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>RestletServlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> <!-- END of Entries for the REST Web Services.--> Both don't work together. In the above setup the Restlet works. However when I change the RestletServlet /* to something like <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>RestletServlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>/credential/*</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> the Restlet stop working and the AuthenticationServlet works fine. What am I missing here?

  • Ubuntu Server Cannot Route to the Internet

I've been having this problem for weeks now, and I can't seem to figure out the problem. My server can route the local network and serves it well, however it cannot access the internet. • Is it legal to have different SOAP namespaces/versions between the request and response?

    - by Lord Torgamus
THIRD EDIT: I now believe that this problem is due to a SOAP version mismatch (1.1 request, 1.2 response) masquerading as a namespace problem. Is it illegal to mix versions, or just bad style? Am I completely out of luck if I can't change my SOAP version or the service's? SECOND EDIT: Clarified error message, and tried to reduce "tl;dr"-ness. EDIT: [Link deleted, not related] Using soapUI, I'm sending a request that starts with: <soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" ... and getting a response that starts with: <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope" ... I know the service is getting the info, because processes down the line are working. However, my soapUI teststep fails. It has two active assertions: "SOAP Response" and "Not SOAP Fault." The failure marker is next to "SOAP Response," with the following message: line -1: Element Envelope@http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope is not a valid Envelope@http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/ document or a valid substitution. I have tried mixing and matching the namespace prefixes and schema URLs. Changing prefixes seems to have no effect; changing URLs causes a VersionMismatch error. I have also tried to use a substitution group, but that doesn't seem to be legal.

    I've already read through a few of the answers on this site but none of them worked for me. I have an XML file like this: <root> <character> <name>Volstvok</name> <charID>(omitted)</charID> <userID>(omitted)</userID> <apiKey>(omitted)</apiKey> </character> </root> I need to add another <character> somehow. I'm trying this but it does not work: public void addCharacter(String name, int id, int userID, String apiKey){ Element newCharacter = doc.createElement("character"); Element newName = doc.createElement("name"); newName.setTextContent(name); Element newID = doc.createElement("charID"); newID.setTextContent(Integer.toString(id)); Element newUserID = doc.createElement("userID"); newUserID.setTextContent(Integer.toString(userID)); Element newApiKey = doc.createElement("apiKey"); newApiKey.setTextContent(apiKey); //Setup and write newCharacter.appendChild(newName); newCharacter.appendChild(newID); newCharacter.appendChild(newUserID); newCharacter.appendChild(newApiKey); doc.getDocumentElement().appendChild(newCharacter); }

  • Removing specific XML tags

    - by iTayb
    I'd like to make an application that removes duplicates from my wpl (Windows PlayList) files. The wpl struct is something like this: <?wpl version="1.0"?> <smil> <head> <meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Windows Media Player -- 11.0.5721.5145"/> <meta name="AverageRating" content="55"/> <meta name="TotalDuration" content="229844"/> <meta name="ItemCount" content="978"/> <author/> <title>english</title> </head> <body> <seq> <media src="D:\Anime con 2006\Shits\30 Seconds to Mars - 30 Seconds to Mars\30 Seconds to Mars - Capricorn.mp3" tid="{BCC6E6B9-D0F3-449C-91A9-C6EEBD92FFAE}" cid="{D38701EF-1764-4331-A332-50B5CA690104}"/> <media src="E:\emule.incoming\Ke$ha - Coming Unglued.mp3" tid="{E2DB18E5-0449-4FE3-BA09-9DDE18B523B1}"/> <media src="E:\emule.incoming\Lady Gaga - Bad Romance.mp3" tid="{274BD12B-5E79-4165-9314-00DB045D4CD8}"/> <media src="E:\emule.incoming\David Guetta -Sexy Bitch Feat. Akon.mp3" tid="{46DA1363-3DFB-4030-A7A9-88E13DF30677}"/> </seq> </body> </smil> This looks like standard XML file. How can I load the file and get the src value of each media tag? How can I remove specific media, in case of duplicates? Thank you very much.

  • new ubuntu server installation - java server not receiving packets

    - by James
I have developed a Java server which listens for UDP packets which come from mobile devices. At the moment, it works correctly if I run my Server on my windows PC. I can receive and respond to the UDP packets sent from my phone (over 3g, not wifi). However, I am trying to run the Server on a different computer which I found lying around my house. I have basically done a clean install of Ubuntu Server edition, updated it, installed the java run time environment and configured port forwarding to allow connections on the appropriate port. I have also tried to disable the firewall. The problem is, it doesn't appear as if the server is receiving any packets and I've exhausted my brain thinking on how to solve/debug the problem. Can anyone suggest to me what the problem might be? or more likely something I can do to help me find out more information about what is going wrong.
